  1. Here is the next challenge on Asian Junkyard Wars! Players will have to construct a sled with only a chair, a stool and a steering wheel of some sorts.
  2. Hi Rome, welcome to STSF!
  3. Here ya go. Now I want to see a Stargate opening.
  4. Shane and his crew were outside the ship near the impulse engines on the rear portion of the saucer. They were completing the weld on the last duranium plate for the patch on the hull breach that they had been working on for several hours and were ready to take a break. Shane paused and slowly turned, looking across the ship. He could see his Vulcan friend, Ensign Sarlen and his team patching up a breach on the rear portion of the engineering hull along with their work shuttle hovering over them. Turning back towards the front of the ship, he watched the Excalibur teams for a second, as they welded patches on the two breaches in the forward saucer section. Shane shook his head in his suit, saddened at the site of the battle-torn Reaent. It looked like one of the wrecks in his father's salvage yard back home, full of holes and scarred black. Shane bent back down and continued to weld the plate, trying to keep out the depressive thoughts of all the Reaent personnel that had died in the past day. No one close to him had died in spite of the fact that almost half of the crew was either injured or gone. The number of unharmed engineering staff was down pretty low as well, reduced their ability to get any of the repairs done quickly. If it wasn't for the Excalibur crew's help, the Reaent probably wouldn't be able to move in two weeks. "Alright" ,said Shane as he stood up, the patch complete, "let's load up the equipment in the shuttle and head back to Main Engineering." With the outside work complete, Shane's team could now finish up the work on the inside, reinforcing the patch, reconnecting EPS and data relays, etc… As his team loaded up into their shuttle, Shane made one last visual examnimation of the duranium patch, and then climbed in with his crew.
  5. Shane just wanted to bang on his console in frustration. Once the warp containment field had been temporarily stabilized by Chief Scherer, he and the other engineers had been trying to get power to the impulse engines. A direct torpedo hit had dropped their power by almost 60% and power continued to drop. They had tried to transfer some of the power from Scherer’s antimatter-matter increases, but the engines weren’t getting any of it. So Shane figured that either the data lines had been damaged, leaving the power junction uncontrollable from Main Engineering or the EPS relay junction had been damaged. The only way to find out was to get a team up there to see for themselves. If the EPS junction was undamaged, the team could make the power reroute there. If the junction itself was broken then they couldn’t get power to impulse engines, which would run out of power, leaving the Reaent dead in space and eventually space junk from the Romulan disruptors. But they didn’t have enough time to get the team up to the impulse engines. The shields were failing and the Romulans were showing no mercy. Shane prayed to God for a way to get more time. It seemed that He was the only one that could help the Reaent now.
  6. Welcome to the Forum, Llayne! Hey Will, has anyone that already has graduated ever compared a GM to Bligh or Queeg?
  7. How about pickled chocolate?
  8. And yet another example of Star Trek tech becoming reality.
  9. I want to point something out. If we want Star Trek to survive we need to attract new people to it and a lot of non-Trekkies aren't attracted to a 1960's style starship. Not that the original Enterprise is stupid or anything but if we want Star Trek to continue we need to move on.
  10. Maxwell Smart> Can you hold a sec? I must switch to my secret agent shoe phone.
  11. I got ST:TNG season 6 in the mail! Celebration! Give a WOOt for Picard!
  12. Shane was on top of one of the fighter craft in the shuttle, working feverishly to finish installing the long-range communications array that the captain had ordered put on. He had already attached the array to the fighters internal structure and was almost finished tapping into the power grid. Then, setting the array's power cord clamp against the main power conduit, he felt the magnetic seal engage as the end-piece jerked slightly. "Ok, Sarlen", Shane said to his team member, "Power up the communications array, let's see if it works." Ensign Sarlen tapped at the controls in the cockpit with his Vulcan face expressionless and the power cable lit up to a bright blue. "The array is online." Sarlen said. "Great," Shane said, "now we just need to bring the internal force-field online for this section to seal the hull. This panel won't go back on with the array sticking out like that." Sarlen looked back down at the console and tapped on it for a few seconds. A blue flash appeared around the array as the force field came on. Shane quickly flipped open his tricorder and looked at its screen. "Ha!" he exclaimed and turning towards another ensign a couple fighters down he yelled, "12 minutes and 32 seconds, beat that Darren!" Gathering his tools, he hopped down from the fighter as Sarlen exited the cockpit. As they started to walk over to where Chief Scherer was working, Sarlen asked, "What were the terms for this 'bet' you have made with Ensign Darren?" "Well," Shane replied, "since we were supposed to be in a hurry with this project anyways, I bet that I could beat him in getting it done. He agreed and we decided that whoever lost would have to eat any plate of food that the winner replicated." "Did you have something in mind for your plate?" Sarlen asked. Shane grinned, "I have programmed a recipe of my grandfather's Texas Tornado Chili that's so hot it'll burn his toenails off." Sarlen raised one of his eyebrows, "Interesting. This is an event that I desire to watch." "I'll let you know when we do it," Shane said, "It'll be something you won't want to miss."
  13. Shane was finally starting to feel better. He had been in his quarters sick with the flu for about a day now and was ready to get back to Main Engineering. His mechanical arm had prevented him from getting some help from Sickbay; his arms performance had been affected somehow by the hypospray in the past. But he had worked out the bugs in his limb and then visited sickbay for his cure. While he was was in his quarters he had come up with an idea on how to get some sensor readouts on the wormhole without being detected. At first he had thought to disguise a probe as an asteroid with the holo-cloak technology, but this would probably be unwise since the holo-cloak technology had proved unreliable. Even if they were able to keep the cloak up on the probe there’s no telling what kind of distortions and energy bursts would be coming from the wormhole. The holograph wouldn’t stand a chance. Then it had hit him. Why would we try to conjure up and stabilize the image of an asteroid when we could just use an actual asteroid. There were plenty of them in the area, all we had to do was bring one in, install the sensor equipment inside the rock and launch it towards the wormhole. We might even be able to use the enemy sensor blocking that science officer came up with. Shane decided that he would run it by Chief Scherer when he got to Main Engineering.
  14. It's finally coming! `Star Trek Online' is ready to beam up By DERRIK J. LANG – 1 day ago LOS ANGELES (AP) — "Star Trek Online" is finally going warp speed ahead. After years in development limbo, the "Trek"-themed massively multiplayer online game will engage, according to game developer Cryptic Studios Inc. Jack Emmert, Cryptic Chief Creative Officer, said players will begin "Star Trek Online" as the captain of a small Starfleet or Klingon Empire ship. They can customize their characters from pre-existing "Trek" species — from Klingons to Gorn — and can create entirely new alien races. As they progress through the game, players can increase in rank and gain larger vessels and more crew. "You'll venture through space exploring new civilizations and life-forms," said Emmert. "You'll also beam down to planets and have adventures inside your ship. It's a galactic-wide game. There's going to be tons of space to investigate. We have a great system for exploration, which will allow for almost infinite possibilities." Cryptic recently announced it had secured the rights to develop and publish "Star Trek Online" from CBS Consumer Products after now-defunct Perpetual Entertainment set the besieged project to kill. "We had a friendly relationship with them," Emmert said. "As it became apparent they weren't going to continue to function, they decided to sell off the license. We swooped in and grabbed it. We took no assets. There was nothing to be had, to be honest. We're building everything from the ground up." Players will also be able to battle against other vessels in laser-blasting, missile-firing deep space scuffles reminiscent of "The Wrath of Khan" and the Dominion War in "Deep Space Nine." Because the game will be set a few generations following the last "Trek" film, players shouldn't expect to run into James T. Kirk or Jean-Luc Picard. "There might be a ship called Enterprise flying around, but it's probably not the same ship anymore," said Emmert. "Most of the characters will have either retired or passed on, but you'll definitely be going to all the places you know and love from 'Star Trek.' Expect to see oldies like Vulcan and Bajor but also fan favorites like Andoria and Qo'noS." Emmert plans to unveil footage and more details about "Star Trek Online" — which has no release date set — with Leonard Nimoy at a "Star Trek" convention Sunday in Las Vegas at the Gene Roddenberry Theater inside the Las Vegas Hilton. The "Star Trek Online" panel will also be broadcast live at StarTrekOnline.com. "You're going to see the actual game working and functioning," said Emmert. "This isn't renders. This isn't concept art. Everything that people will see on Sunday is going to be taken right from 'Star Trek Online' as it stands today, so hardened people should know that a release date might be closer than they think." Cryptic, the developer originally responsible for "City of Heroes" and "City of Villains," is also working on the superhero-themed online game "Champions Online," scheduled for release for Windows PC and Xbox 360 next year. Emmert said "Star Trek Online" would definitely be available for Windows PC and perhaps Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. Other online games based on popular entertainment franchises include "The Lord of the Rings Online," "The Matrix Online," "Pirates of the Caribbean Online" and "Star Wars Galaxies." Sony Online Entertainment is currently developing "DC Universe Online" while MGM Interactive is working on "Stargate Worlds."
