  4. Muon's Morsels. That had a good ring to it. A nice coffee shop with pastries for everyone. Of course, what the humons considered pastries were different from what the Klingons considered pastries. Did the Klingons even have a word for pastries? Probably something disgusting like a cheese gagh pastry. There had been such a fuss about pastries lately that Muon decided she'd capitalize on this opportunity and open a little shop on the midway. Of course, she had to hire someone to operate it because she would be too busy to do it. She was sure it would be a popular place, at least in the mornings and early afternoons. Only problem was, could she talk engineering into adding it to the already heavy work load they had? Now, maybe they could get back to the business of making policy for the station. Who said she wasn't a Ferengi who could smell profits. :-) McMUONs: (Coming to a midway near you!!) 5. The meeting had gone better than she had expected. They were past the "emergency procedures" thing and on to Cardassia, thank the FCA. It was time to get down to business, and to a Ferengi, nothing was more important than “business”. Muon had just made the decision about Cardassia. They were going, and soon. Muon was of the opinion that nothing but the full truth would suffice for this mission. On the one hand, the Cardassians were not a part of the aligned worlds. On the other hand, they were a people in need of help and it was her duty to provide whatever help she could. She had contacted Starfleet and briefed Admiral Janeway on the situation, seeking both advice and permission to proceed with the mission. The Admiral had advised moving ahead cautiously but agreed with Muon’s intention to divulge the full truth and had given the go ahead. She was leaving the details up to Muon but a full brief was to be sent to the Admiral before departure. Now for the delegation. Muon wanted the diplomatic corps to go of course, plus a security detail, and a rep from medical and science. She believed this would help impress upon the Cardassians how important this mission was and how earnest Aegis’s desire was to assist them. Drankum would definitely help keep the situation from becoming too tense. Joy would help Muon from making diplomatic blunders, and Sorehl's calm and logic would assist with convincing the Cardassians of their intentions. A request for a visit to renew relations would be sent, which was essentially the truth, just not all of it. Yes, that should suffice if worded correctly. Then a request for a private meeting between the delegation and the Cardassian leaders. Muon would prepare her statement ahead of time but would deliver it during the private meeting. As for after that, well, they would just have to wait and see and hope that the Cardassian leader didn’t throw them into the nearest prison for treason against the Cardassians. Muon would rely upon the diplomatic corps to prevent that from happening. Excellent. Muon felt this was a good solid plan. Now to inform the diplomats. She quickly drafted a memo on her padd and then sent it to OPS for distribution to the diplomatic corps. She also sent a message to science, security, and medical requesting a representative for the delegation. Lastly, she began working on the message to Cardassia. After about an hour, and several dozen revisions, she felt satisfied with the result. Everything was all set. All she could now was wait….. and pray to the FCA that the Cardassians will be willing to meet with her and that they wouldn’t kill her after she told them about Forester. +OPS+ “Quark to Mr. Porter. I am forwarding a message to you that I need sent to the Cardassian government as an official communiqué. Please see that it goes through the proper channels. Oh and after that, if you still wish to meet concerning the diplomatic alert system, you may come to my office. Quark out.”

  10. During the days leading up to the trial, Muon had had plenty of time to think. She had thought about a great many things during that time and also after the trial. About herself, Aegis, the crew, just to name a few. Aegis was foremost on her mind now as she walked around the midway and watched all the activity, the different people all coming and going. It was good to be back. She was proud to serve on Sky Harbor Aegis and had come to think of the station as her home, and the crew as her family. As she continued her walk, she was suddenly reminded of ROA #9. Rule of Acquisition #9 states "Opportunity plus instinct equals profit". Sky Harbor Aegis was in a position for a unique opportunity and Muon's instincts were telling her to act on it. She hadn't read the results of the investigation by Sorehl yet but she had a feeling that the future of Aegis was going to change. Already she been in contact with Starfleet concerning this investigation. Apparently, it was not limited to Captain Sorehl's interviews with the crew. Starfleet was taking a long serious look at Sky Harbor Aegis and it's mission and had been doing so for several years now. What did Muon herself think the mission of Sky Harbor Aegis was? She thought she knew. To be a presence on the east side of the Alpha quadrant. To help ensure the peace and to protect the Cardassian people along and the UFP's interests. To serve and protect. But now... she wasn't sure that was enough. Aegis was capable of so much more. There were many worlds out there and they all needed a voice and a place where that voice could be heard in peace and in safety. The most surprising thing Muon had learned of was of the arrival of several additions to the Diplomatic Corps of Sky Harbor Aegis. Muon had just finished reviewing their assignment orders again. Ambassador Joy Two. A wealth of knowledge on the laws and procedures of many worlds. Captain Sorehl. Uniquely suited to bringing calm and logic to heated discussions. Both being added to the Diplomatic Corps of Sky Harbor Aegis along side Ambassador Drankum. Although Drankum could talk any person into selling anything he wanted, Drankum also knew the advantages of a well made alliance. Muon had also discovered there were discussions with other worlds going on about bringing other diplomats to the station. There were even plans in the works for remodeling the whole diplomatic area of Aegis. How in the name of the FCA was Aegis going to make this all work? Was Aegis really suited to host diplomats? Was Muon ready for this? Was Aegis? She didn't know but she felt the change was coming whether they were ready or not. Aegis would have to make sure they were ready. There would be so much to do. Security procedures would have to be looked at and revamped as needed. Medical would have to make sure the medical databases were updated, order medical supplies for more, varied species. Engineering, the remodel of the diplomatic area, reprogramming of the replicators, upgrades to quarters to support the different life forms. Science would have to help engineering on the upgrades to quarters, add to the Arboretum plant life....... The list was extensive. But if Aegis did this right, they could have a very unique station capable of hosting a vast array of species. Hadn't the USS Titan, commanded by Riker, done the same? Hell, Titan even had quarters filled with water. As she watched Aegis' diverse population going about its daily business, suddenly she knew. She knew Aegis was up to the task. This was indeed a unique opportunity to commit Aegis to a new destiny and have a hand in creating something special. With the help of the crew of Aegis, they could do this. Hadn't they already survived adversity, danger, even the destruction of the first station? Smiling to herself, Muon headed back to the turbolift. "CT", she ordered the turbolift. Suddenly a frown replaced her smiling face. The other thing they needed to do was work out a policy between the diplomats and the Federation, based on current law. That would not be so easy. She'd have Brian and Ethan start on the arrangements. Sighing, Muon made a mental note to ask Dr LePage to stock up on analgesics. She was sure she was going to need plenty of them over the next few months. Sighing again, she continued on to the command tower to begin the day.

  12. Nelar enters the deliberating room after the scene with Captain Savage and takes a seat at the table. “Well that was certainly interesting.” NIckles follows Nelar into the deliberation room as well. "It was. I was certain she was guilty when this all first started. Now I’m having second thoughts.” He pulls out a chair next to her and sits Talsia Sundown as well made up the third member of the convening authorities, and her attention was divided between the other two JAG officers as well as her own mental thoughts. She settled into a chair facing the other two officers, her expression a combination of concern and confusion; the days’ events had indeed been unexpected. Nelar reads thru the transcript a bit and sighs. “There is more going on here then meets the eye. Something is not right with Section 31. Specifically, Admiral Forester.” Nelar says, glancing up from the transcript. "I agree. I would like to get this Forrester in the witness chair.” Nickles replies. “He seems to be the perpetrator in this entire thing. Not Muon as we were first led to believe." Talsia snorted, the sound undignified but very apt to describe the Forester situation. “Shadow organizations are always a headache waiting to happen, exacerbated even more so when a high ranking official is involved. Nelar nods in agreement. “I think we'll have to start an investigation into Admiral Forester. We'll have to be careful though, this is section 31 we're talking about.... and an Admiral. Nickles nods his agreement. “Section 31 is a delicate area all its own. But what do we do with Muon? She was in the wrong but not as we thought in the beginning." He picks up a glass of water and takes a drink from it, then sets it back down on the table. He turns in his chair to face Nelar awaiting her answer. Nelar grabs a glass and fills it with water from a nearby pitcher. “Rumor has it that Captain Sorehl is onboard and will be assisting the Diplomatic Corps on Aegis. Also, Ambassador Joy Two has been assigned to Aegis as well. There are other rumors that more diplomats might be coming to Aegis in the near future. ::grins:: I think we can add a letter of reprimand into her permanent record and then give her the worst punishment she can imagine.... We can let her stay on Aegis and deal with the diplomats...” Nickles grins and replies, "That might work. She has always hated dealing with diplomats. What better punishment than to make her do so. I agree that will be her punishment." “You both are sadistic. Oh wait, that’s probably why we are all so good at what we do.” Talsia smirked at her own gallows humor, and then continued, “I do agree with the permanent reprimand as well as maintaining he current posting as the commanding officer of the station.” Nelar continues, “And perhaps, we can ask Captain Sorehl to make it.....interesting for her? She does need to work on her diplomatic skills, does she not?” "Agreed, she does at that. Sorehl is a good one at it also.” Nickles replies as he lifts his glass again and downs the rest of the water inside. "Joy 2 can give assistance as well." Excellent idea.” Nelar replies as she nods her head. “And we must make it very clear that she is on a "probation" of sorts. If anything like this happens again, we would have to take more serious action. Agreed? “Aye, no arguments here.” Sundown nodded and fiddled with her personal padd, entering a few notes regarding the JAG offcers’ joint decision regarding the Ferengi captain in question. "Agreed. Shall we return to give our verdict?" Nickles responds. Nelar nods her head. “Yes, I'll have my assistant type up verdict but I think we can let the Captain know and reinstate her as Commanding Officer of Aegis.” "Agreed, although letting her sit a stew about it a bit would seem to be a good thing as well. Let’s not tell her until its typed and ready to deliver. Also, let’s call Sorehl and Joy, to make sure they can stay around a bit. Then tell her." Sundown gave a quick nod of agreement and jumped into the conversation at that point. “Well, despite dealing with Forester – who of course we all realize has his own demons that no doubt whisper in his ear – Quark did go all ‘firebrand’ with regard to this whole situation. I agree that some waiting might do her good, teach her some patience, that sort of thing. These new captains always have an adjustment period, you know?” Nelar nods, satisfied with their decision. “I'm in no hurry.... Have you had lunch yet? I hear Drankums serves a really good lasagna.” Nelar pushes a a few buttons on the computer terminal and sends a memo to her assistant. "I have not, lets go try it out. I hear Drankum’s lasagna is the best in the quadrant." He stands and motions for the ladies to exit the door first, being a gentleman.” Talsia exited the deliberation room, looking forward to a change of venue, even if it was a hole in the wall restaurant. . “I could definitely use some chow, and I’m sure we can all use a bit of a break.” They all file out of the deliberation room and head over to Drankums for lunch. Muon is off the hook….for now.

  23. The Admiral was calling again.... This couldn't be good. Muon had the call routed to her office. She entered her office and activated her comm link with the Admiral. "Admiral, how can I help you today?" Muon asked pleasantly. "Captain Quark, I will be asking Starfleet to relieve you of command." He replied bluntly, coming straight to the point. "May I ask why Admiral? I am not aware of any anything......" Muon started. "You know damn well why!" he cut her off, yelling and pounding his fist on his desk. "Within a few hours I will have sufficient evidence to present to Starfleet and have you relieved. Scientific mission, bah! Where is the Pandoras Box now Captain? I would very much like to speak with them" He ended in a snarl. Muon tried to appear calm. "Unfortunately, interference from the sun is preventing communications......" "How convenient Captain." he interrupted again. "How convenient indeed. Mark my words. I'll have your pips and your lobes on a platter by the days end!" Abruptly the comm link went blank. Muon sat back slowly and closed her eyes. She had known that it might come to this but it wasn't important. What was important was getting the PB back safely, and helping Cardassia. Nothing else mattered. Nothing. All she could now was wait for the PB and hope all was going well.
  24. Muon sat in the dark thinking. She was thinking that it was going to be near impossible to resolve the current situation she found herself in. She had disobeyed orders, lied to a superior officer, ordered an illegal time travel, and probably a few other things she couldn't think of at the moment. Yes, she was definitely in what the humons would call a "pickle". Yes, a pickle indeed. Fortunately, Starfleet wouldn't be able to make it out to the station for another week or two so she had a little time. Time to figure something out. She was Ferengi after all and aren't all Ferengi good at getting out of "pickles"? Above all, she did not want to involve any of the crew and risk getting them into trouble as well. She alone was responsible and would take the blame, thereby keeping the crew safe. What was that rule? "One person's secret is another person's opportunity.." The secret here was a small portion of Starfleet trying to keep the Cardassian's beaten down. The opportunity was... Muon smiled. Yes indeed. The opportunity was to expose them and at the same time ensure the future safety of the Cardassians. And she would do it playing by their rules. Now Muon grinned. She would need a little assistance after all...... Muon turned on the lights in her quarters and headed to her console. There was one person who could possibly help her...... She activated the comm and put in a call.
  25. In the past - - - - GulTimar, after hearing the story from the PB crew, was perflexed. If it wasn't for the fact they knew another PB was docked at Aegis, Timar would turn them all over to their Conservator and let them be tried before the Chief Archon. If what they said was true, Cardassia was in trouble. Apparently, in the future, Cardassia was suffering from illness. The PB was sent back to gain a living pod (the cause of the illness) to effect a cure. Aegis was supposedly trying to help.... Timar had two options. She could turn them over.... or, she could believe them and help her people. If she was careful, no one would know either. It would have to be planned precisely or it would look like the PB had been helped. Sure, Timar would be severely reprimanded but she would survive. And so would her people. Making the decision, Timar put her plan into action. There would be an explosion, caused by a faultly power system. The power would be down for several minutes only... just enough time to....... ESCAPE In the present - - - It had been several minutes since the PB had shot around the sun. Muon paced nervously across the CT worrying about their fate. She said a little prayer to the FCA. Her conversation with the Admiral had not gone well and he suspected that Aegis was up to something. He suspected they were helping the Cardassians. He had told Muon bluntly that if he found any evidence of Aegis helping the Cardassians, he would have her lobes on a platter. Abruptly he had cut communications. It didn't matter. Starfleet would find out anyways if the PB was successful in their mission. Trouble was, Muon didn't the fate of the PB or if they were ok or not. Her first major mission and she was a, what did the humons say, a nervous wreck. Yes that was it....
