Per an update, July 11 is Kilt Day at Shore Leave. I'm not sure whether to be intrigued or disturbed here folks. I may go with mildly intrigued yet cautiously disturbed just to be on the safe side.

05.19.10 Agincourt Mission Update: TBS: A Few Hours We've rec'd new marching orders: The 'Court is now attached to the 7th Fleet, and what remains of the 7th will be rendezvousing at the station and calling it home base for the time being. For now, we remain in the sector. The final post-quarantine patients and salvaged wreckage from the Soltan battle zone have been offloaded onto the station; OPS Officer Tay handles the various communications traveling back and forth from ship to station. Owing to a buzz among some of the NCO's and Marine officers, Colonel Harper and Lt. Colonel JoNs discuss ships business ranging from alternative training (projectile weapons and hand to hand combat employing unconventional means) to Inter-Departmental training in case the Soltans ever try any funny business and knock out our technological supplies/systems, to proposed 7th Fleet wide training maneuvers once all the ships make docking orbit. The XO informs her CO that she plans to apologize to CMO Trenral regarding not asking for clearance to enter the quarantine trauma zone. Colonel Harper also informs her XO in kind that she never wants to see a report from CSEC Caine as to the breach of tempers in the trauma-triage area grace her desk again. Engineering (Alpha Shift) has gotten back into the game - their repair counts and general departmental readiness are back up on the charts. Waiting on word from the command-types regarding the proposed Marine and Inter-Dept training sessions, Karo gets in some workout time while Hefner tries to figure out how he got saddled with paperwork.

05.12.10 Agincourt Mission Update TBS: Three Days, with staggered shore leave rotation as well as regular duty shifts The USS Agincourt begins to enter docking orbit at the space station. We've completed at least one stint gathering both salvage -- both personnel and equipment -- from the Soltan/Starfleet battle site. Medical and Ops begins the pre-process of off loading any rescued personnel from the converted cargo bays that served as medical triage. Engineering handles both regular and specialized repair work. The Marines discuss tactical armor upgrades as well as the projectile weapons readiness of our crew in case of a Soltan equipment based attack. Meanwhile, Colonel Harper has also received new orders from Command. The CSEC deals with the matter of the internal violation with regard to quarantine procedures as filed by the CMO against the XO.

05.06.10 Agincourt Mission Update: TBS: Long enough for us to head back to the starbase (48 Hours?) While working on the salvage and rescue operations, one of the survivors tests positive for the Soltan Blue Effect. The following moments are tense for those aware (Colonel Harper, Bridge officers working the salvage and survivor mission parameters, Medical, SEC/Marine Patrols) of the problem. Soon, a confirming test shows that it was a false positive, and "Patient 63" is not in fact turning into a Soltan. Slick Hefner and Kid Karo, the lead patrol Marines on site during the scare, retire from their harrowing triage patrol shift. The CMO, her lead On Site Medico, and the XO all clash regarding the quarantine procedures and who was where doing what or what they shouldn't have been doing. It is not pretty. The Engineers continue on with maintenance, routine shift work, and dealing with any possible salvage from the battlefield that may have been taken on board.

While working on search & rescue and salvage operations, the Agincourt picks up some survivors of a Soltan attack. One of them is suspected to be infected with the Blueing, and the Agincourt is now under quarrantine procedures. Those NOT in danger of infection are still trying to carry out the mission, which at this stage involves combing the wreckage for anything that can be salvaged or for any Soltan tech. The Agincourt continues search and rescue operations in the wreckage of a battlefield. Survivors are being taken on board and placed in quarantine, while we look for any Starfleet ships in good enough condition to tow or any Soltan wreckage that might be useful. CourtChat10_4_28.txt

04.28.10 Agincourt Mission Update: TBS: Five Minutes It is business as usual with the salvage, towing, and rescue operations until the crew encounters an issue: It would seem one of the Starfleet survivors taken on board has tested positive for the Soltan Bluing Effect. Medical continues with the lock down quarantine procedures, the general salvage operations also continue, and most of the crew -- save for Marine and SEC patrols who are alerted through the CSEC and XO -- are currently unaware of the pending issue. Will the virus spread across the ship? Tune in next week to find out!

Chiming in: The Agincourt is set after the Dominion War, our actual year(s) is 2397 onward, 20 years after the return of VOY and after the events in Nemesis, though we make no mention of the Remans at all. The below (edited) rundown of our Sims is taken from the STSF article over at Wikipedia. The entire article offers a condensed history of STSF as well as the Sims. I won't link the article due to our policies: USS Excalibur — The USS Excalibur sim is a post-DS9/Voyager era sim currently set in the Gamma Quadrant. USS Challenger — The USS Challenger is set during the post-STVI era. USS Manticore — The USS Manticore is Star Trek Simulation Forum's Black-Ops Sim, and is set in the Post DS9/Voyager era. USS Republic — The USS Republic is currently set in the post DS9/Voyager era and is one of the longest running games at Star Trek Simulation Forum. USS Hood — The USS Hood is currently the only Star Trek Simulation Forum game set in the TOS-era. IKC Qob/Lakota — The IKC Qob/Lakota is a joint mission between Starfleet and the Klingon Empire set in the post-DS9/Voyager era. EDIT: set in the early 2400's, is now Qob: Tranquility under Capt. Manning and taking on more of a Firefly meets Star Trek feel. Rock on Qob. USS Agincourt — The USS Agincourt is the only "future" sim currently in operation at Star Trek Simulation Forum taking almost two decades after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis. USS Arcadia — The USS Arcadia, like the Republic, is one of the longest running games at the Star Trek Simulation Forum. It is set in the post-DS9/Voyager era. USS Reaent — The USS Reaent is set in the post-DS9/Voyager era aboard a refitted Ambassador class starship and has been running for over a decade. RES Talon — The RES Talon is the only Romulan Star Trek Simulation Forum game in operation. USS Comanche Creek - USS Comanche Creek is a New TOS sim based on the timeline from the eleventh movie. Sky-Harbor Aegis — Sky Harbor Aegis is a station-based sim set in the post-DS9/Voyager era.

The TNGers were better as a TV show cast overall. A movie ensemble cast will never be explored to the depth that a TV character can be. IMO. TV Picard: Select viewer audience. A diplomats diplomat. Commanded his ship with the security (and by the book) of a veteran Fleeter. Movie Picard: Appeal to a wider audience. Phaser rifle toting (First Contact, Insurrection) Captain, the diplomacy was shot to hell, dare I say Original Kirk-type.

Well...depends on who you ask I'd guess: I'll take First Contact over Generations. Yet, I'm also a die hard Original Cast fan, and I'd rather watch the Classic Trek movies if I have the choice. You also have to understand that I've been "done" with TNG for a few years now. Other then the offshoot USS Titan novels, starring Riker and Troi (which are a very good read by the way), the TNG series and movies just don't interest me anymore. It's not that I dislike Picard and Company -- they were and are the first Golden Child of the continuing franchise, and the TV show was high quality sci fi entertainment during it's time. I can just sorta move on without them. :P

In case you're wondering, we got our collective rear kicked. Therefore, it's mostly Starfleet ships needing rescue, but Fleet is also hoping we might find some useful Soltan salvage. 04.21.10 TBS: 30 Minutes The Agincourt has been dispatched to perform rescue and salvage operations at the site of a major battle between the 8th Fleet, based out of the starbase we were just at, and the Soltan. The crew sets about the task of dredging through the area and acquiring tow targets as well as possible survivors. The ship remains at Yellow Alert. Engineering (Alpha shift) is given a mild dressing down regarding shift performance. Medical prepares for any possible exposure to the Soltan. Bridge officers representing SEC/TAC, Science, and Operations go about the business of acquiring tow targets and keeping watch for enemy activity. Marine and SEC patrols are on alert.

The Wild West episode "North Star" rocks out! I love that episode! And, there were some interesting themes worked in there towards racial tolerance. I love North Star! And I really don't like Westerns at all. Pay no attention to the Cat in the Cowboy Hat avatar.

Space: 1999 is a wee bit before my time, but I did recently check out (or tried to) the first few season 1 episodes thanks to a DVD loan from a coworker. Uh, no, the series love didn't happen. I can't sleep...the bell bottoms will get me... It was okay, that's just my opinion. Martin Landau and Barbara Bain rocked out, but I could take or leave the rest of the cast. The one cast member slipped way too far into "over dramatic" territory during an alternate universe episode. Does anyone recall a 90's series called Space Rangers? One of the lead actors was Linda Hunt, currently of NCIS:Los Angeles fame. I'm waitin' for this series to make a DVD appearance, because at the time I liked the show. As for the Rihans, have always enjoyed them as a race and character(s) within Trek. The Diane Duane novels are the best. However, if I could minor gripe: don't really care for the V bone forehead thing. ::shrugs::

04.14.10 TBS: Short/Less then 1 Hour After completing ship repairs and shore leave at the station, the USS Agincourt and her crew are assigned a new mission. We are heading out to a sector where ships based at the station had gotten into a large altercation with the Soltans and got themselves creamed. Our orders are to initiate tow operations. Security/Marines are deployed for deck to deck patrols. Engineering, Medical, Sciences and Operations departments stand by to assist where needed. We are on Yellow Alert. At the ending of last Sim, our sensor tracking programs picked up on three possible ships -- one Defiant, one Steamrunner, and one Kelvin class ship -- that are tow candidates.

The flip side of "playing drunk" is you have to know when to pull yourself back Rosetto and not have a Sim descend into a complete mess. Most Players assume the logical progression of playing drunk is leading to some sort of bar brawl, and that's usually not a good situation full of laughs, so you have to realize how to approach this sort of situation with "real life" in mind and that there can and will be consequences.

Let me clarify real quick: I didn't mean the comment as all sci fi is stupid. I meant more along the lines that not all sci fi shows can be quote awesome unquote, and if you watch them with an attitude of "this show better blow my mind" then no, it won't be enjoyed by the viewer in the long run. As an example, I'm not all that crazy about Stargate Universe. But, if I happen to catch an episode -- you know, if nothing else is on -- I can still enjoy the episode within that moment. You're on Admiral!

The CMO and the Captain running around the medical bay attempting to catch an alien albino bat with netting is priceless entertainment. And then we have a *funny moment* when the Comm Officer walks in and grabs it out of mid-air with no effort. Wee. ...and, no, the ENT fan is not employing sarcasm. Nope. A9, I myself really really like ENT and I have all the seasons (working my way through them now as well, oddly) and will defend the series in discussions, but I'll tell you flat out: Don't think too hard when catching up with ENT. Some series -- and I include sci fi in general -- are just meant to be watched with a "this is just a space adventure show" attitude on the part of the viewer.

I'll take the 60's female uniform miniskirt over the ultra-70's "Disco Night" Motion Picture male and female uniforms any day. And the 1980's ST: TWOK to ST: TUC burgundy uniforms? They are still the best. All the other uniforms and era's are completely blasted out. MO only.

Mailstring? Excellent. I'll be sending out some of my tactical ideas via mail for smuggling Dominic Keating out of the Con and taking him home, so I may need accomplices to watch the exits. :P

04.07.10 Agincourt Mission Update: TBS: 2 Weeks while repairs continue to be made to the ship The crew enjoys shore leave at the starbase -- some more so then others -- but no one got arrested which pleases the command staff to no end. Colonel Harper meets with the station commander for a briefing regarding the local sector concerns, and any possible orders for the Agincourt.
