  1. To answer the original question, that is called obsessive compulsive. The rubber bar is supposed to be there, didn't you learn that? Never mind that reality and logic merge in the fact that 2 feet of space tells normal people (Even cashiers) that there is seperation. Or, your on the West coast where people complain if their trail mix does not have the correct mixture of fruits and nuts (which also can be compared to West Coast) Sorry, just adding humor
  2. Sice when did we rely on TV for our storylines? As I see it we can wait for them to form the Federation or do it ourselves. The idea of a sim (Or sims) based on the formation of the Federation would give us a great foundation for adding new players and sims. I don't know about some of you, but playing outside the TNG theme sounds exciting. Think about the possibilities of not having a Prime Directive bogging us down :)
  3. Has any discussion been tossed around about an Enterprise-era sim? I know I would be interested but what about everyone else?
  4. I am hopeful that the third season is when we see the beginnings of the Federation. What I would like to see is Humans being the bridge of peace between the Vulcans and Andorians. If I were writing for Enterprise I would show how the Humans became the core of the Federation by bringing peace to the Vulcan/Andorian conflict. Makes sense to me. Why else would the seat of the Federation be on Earth. We certainly do not have the technology, so what did it.
  5. Dogs are also the only species who chose to align with Humans
  6. Use one that's clean but has half a dozen small jumping fish in it? <Target pratice>> Frozen slowly like a popsicle? <<It's 6 degrees outside right now>> Camp one night on an island inhabited by man-eating tigers? <<Camp does not mean I have to sleep>> Not know <<I was a AOL GM so I am used to not knowing whats really going on>> Like a cow's entire face, including eyelids, nostrils, and "lips" <<Takes less time, I'm a busy man>> Be a deer during hunting season? <<Just cause your a deer does not mean you have to live where they are shooting. I'll live in a nice petting zoo and the kids can feed me all day>> Loose your eyes <<You can undress a woman with your eyes but its more fun with your limbs intact>> Frequently be misunderstood <<I was ignored most of the time as an AOL GM, so lets try this for awhile>> Have one eye with a yellow iris and one eye with a red iris << What fun it would be to watch people switch from eye to eye>> Navigate through life always wearing 3-D glasses <<Ewwwww>> Be caught in the path of an elephant breaking wind <<I'm a man, we grade farts>>
  7. Good to have ya
  8. Who is a pretty boy! BJ liked being on the Bridge. The hustle and bustle was the same as Sickbay without the blood (Well, most of the time). Information moves so fast that if your not paying attention you might get hit upside the head with it. Such as was this expedition. BJ had learned that they were going to a planet called "Arcady". Their society was mid-evil with the twist that the Women ruled and the Men were subservient. Hey, he didn't have a problem with letting the Woman pull the plow. This might be a good opportunity to brush up on his cooking and cleaning skills. Then someone made the comment to him about being a "Hot property". He didn't understand until they told him that his physical properties of height, build, blond hair and blue eyes made him a valued asset. Hey, who knows. Maybe some hot little Queen would take him for her own. A life of sitting around eating chocolates and watching the jousts all day might make for a nice early retirement. So BJ headed for the Salon. Mistress Saleen was on duty and although BJ had steered clear of her in the past because of her "Wild Do's", perhaps this instance she would be useful. He sat down and told her what he desired. She squealed in delight, almost like someone had given her a perfect birthday present. When she finished, BJ looked in the mirror. He knew he was gonna take some ribbing from some of the officers, but he did have to admit he looked like a pretty boy. He left the salon and walked towards his quarters. As people commented on his new look, BJ could stop smiling. It really was fun to be pretty
  9. Long day's journey into night Illumination was minimal as BJ entered his quarters. He was exhausted and headed for his bunk, not bothering to turn the lights up. That was a mistake that didn't take long to bear fruit. His bunkmate, notorious for his messes, had left items scattered at the base of the bunks. BJ tripped over something and fell into his bunk. BJ swore the day he finally meets his bunkmate will be a sorry day indeed! His day had actually started the day before. Just as he was planning on introducing Hawkeye to his Holodeck program Operation:Mommy began. It had taken the Marines 14 hours just to narrow it down to 20 possibilities. Thankfully they had found the match with a woman delirious with fever (It could have been worse, he told himself). Seeing the look on the little girls face when reunited with her only living relative made the work all worthwhile. As they walked out of the staging area, BJ noticed his shift was about to start. So much for the Holodeck. As his shift stretched on, his thoughts wandered back to the girl. He was used to seeing that look on peoples face when he delivered positive news about a trauma patient. But this time he had created sheer joy not through his skills, but through his humanity. Humanity? He thought to himself that he must be slipping. Sleep deprivation, he rationalized. He would probably be better after some sleep. As he drifted off a smile made its way across his face just as he slipped into slumber. The last thing he thought before he drifted away was the girls face as she looked back at him and said "Thank you"[blur]
  10. Did I mention NO BORG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. I kinda would like to see them do DS9 in a different way. Make it a remote base that deals with interstellar commerce issues (Trade wars, pirates, etc) I think DS9 was a good idea gone bad. There were too many distractions away from the basic premise of the Federation (DS9 wasent even a Federation base for Petes sake). Make it a True Federation base with only Federation officers piloting Federation ships. And NO BORG!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Operation:Mommy "I need to relax" Hawkeye announced. "Well I have just the place" BJ said, thinking he wouldn't mind a few more hours in the Holodeck. He was looking forward to seeing the look on her face when the doors opened and bright sun bathed them both. Several of the choice people he had invited to the Holodeck were some beefy men. After all BJ knew from experience that a room full of women and just one man always led to bickering amongst the women. As they started out they saw Ruca and a little girl. It didn't take a Warp propulsion scientist to figure out something was wrong. BJ stopped and found out the girl had become separated from her mother. Using the comm system to try to page a colonist was useless. The simple clatter and bustle of sheer number of people living on the ship drowned out ANY shipwide communications. The Romulans could be attacking and someone next to a speaker wouldn't hear it. As much as they joked about the Marines (One was how they had to screw their hats on, hence the name "Jar Head") BJ respected their focus. He knew that if anyone could walk through a crowded room and be able to examine every face it was a Marine. BJ contacted Major Stardust and was informed that Lieutenant Duncan would be heading the search. As BJ turned back he saw Hawkeye and Ruca sitting down with the girl, pack of markers and crayons in-hand. The kid didn't stand a chance with those two, BJ thought to himself. Two young female Doctors and a small child. The kid could be packing a phaser and they would probably say "What a pretty phaser you have". Not that he was much different. You have to be sensitive to people to be a good Doctor. BJ knew he wanted children, several in fact. Seeing the look in their eyes the first time they see a butterfly, or swim by themselves. How it is the most amazing thing in the world when you pull a coin from behind their ear. It reminded BJ that life was precious, and what you might take for granted someone else has not experienced yet. As Duncan entered sickbay, he wanted to tell Hawkeye they would not be relaxing anytime soon. But from the look on her face now, he didn't think she needed it as much as she did before. And neither did he
  13. "....While I continue to keep this Oath unviolated, may it be granted to me to enjoy life and the practice of the Art, respected by all men, in all times. But should I trespass and violate this Oath, may the reverse be my lot." The Hippocratic Oath 5th Century B.C. Earth Excess breads relaxation, at least to BJ. As the sun blazed over the Risan beach BJ coerced the daiquiri through his straw. Beside him lay his tanning lotion, PADD loaded with soothing music, and his drink. On him was a bathing suit, dark thin-framed sunglasses, and earphones. Around him were assorted humanoid females similarly outfitted. Now your probably asking yourself how BJ pulled this one off. Well he invited a few "friends" along. Being the Doctor who evaluated the colonists gave him the opportunity to get up-close with many of them. He picked out 20 or so choice subjects and invited them to Holodeck 3. Now according to the regulations, Holodeck 3 was to house roughly 20 people. BJ had some experience with Holodecks and he knew it took the same amount of power to create an image, be it a triage or Risan beach. So who was it to say it couldn't't be used in this manner. Excessive? You betcha. The general population sometimes sees physicians as primadonnas. BJ looks at the Hippocratic oath and sees the part where it says he is to have a full life for his work. Actually entitled is a better word. No other occupation in the galaxy is like being a healer. Observing the Oath is important for two very good reasons. First is that living a full and rich life relieves stress. Secondly is the warning that breaking that Oath will bring the reverse. So by accepting the fruit of excess, BJ keeps his perspective that unless he is the best he can be that failure is soon to follow.
  14. A funny thing happened on the way to the Shuttlebay On the way to the shuttlebay, BJ saw his message notification alert in his helmet. More bloodwork was finished processing, this time of Garnoopy, Quest, and Moose. "Almost forgot about that" BJ thought to himself. When they had arrived, BJ and Hawkeye had diagnosed the threesome as having exposure to Lodicite. Prognosis was they would make a full recovery, but it's always safe to have a computer backup their position. The first results of the bloodwork almost make BJ vomit. Blood taken at the shuttle showed the virus WAS in their bloodstream. The virus was now alive and well on the Arcadia, and in the open! How could he have been so careless! Because of his stupidity he had put Arcadian lives at risk. BJ was sick to think of how this would effect his career. But as he checked the bloodwork taken from Quest in Sickbay, his emotion changed from panic to query. Quests blood taken in the shuttle and again in sickbay were showing remarkably different results. The concentration of Lodicite in the shuttle was 40 PPM, while the virus was found to be 8 PPM. But the readings taken from her blood in Sickbay showed the Lodicite at 2PPM and no trace if the virus. "Thats impossible" BJ said aloud. She had been given no treatments other than a stimulant. This virus, based on signals from the surface, had no known cure and had a contraction rate somewhere in the neighborhood of the Bubonic plague. How did it just die? BJ accessed the bloodwork from Garnoopy. The results were the same! The Lieutenant was also infected upon arrival but was now showing no signs of infection. BJ had to prove this couldn't be, so he accessed the medical computer interface and ordered a test on the vomit the Captain deposited on BJs boot. It only took a few seconds, since BJ had left the sample in the test unit. The results were in line with the rest, No trace of virus found. As they cleared the decontamination chamber, he started to wonder what had happened to kill the virus and, more importantly how they could reproduce this virus-killer
  15. Advanced Biological Warfare training The signals coming from the planet were disturbing. What was thought to be an introduced biological agent was confirmed. Arcadia crew (BJ included) had been on the surface without biological warfare gear. That mistake was being corrected now on the ship. Bloodwork so far was giving BJ a clear bill of health. There had been no indications of exposure to the rest of the crew. Limiting that would call into action the Medical staffs training in Advanced Biological Warfare. The shuttlebay was being designated as "Ground Zero". Air reclamation systems were being isolated so as to isolate the Shuttlebays air system from the rest of the ship. Purification systems were being brought on-line. That was automatic and was implemented by a single command to the ships main computer. BJ and Hawkeye were running the final diagnostics on their suits when the call came in. A shuttle was already inbound with infected crew. BJ checked with Sickbay's master control console to verify all the equipment was either transported in or was on stand-by. This was going to take some serious time to treat the crew. BJ was running the process through his mind. Stage one was going to be using the biofliters on a portable transporter to extract the bulk of the toxin, but the biofilters didn't do it all. They would have to introduce chemicals into the patients bloodstream to force the toxin from the bodies organs, followed by transfusing the blood for final removal. The chances of success as stated by SFM were around 70%, with 30% requiring additional treatment. The good news was they were estimating that casualties should be limited to 5%. This sounded crude to some physicians but thats what separated a trauma team from a family doctor. BJ knew trauma was messy. Hawkeye seemed to understand that also, but how would the remaining staff handle that estimate. Well, they were all about to find out
