  1. Happy B-Day!!!!!!!! Can't find a pic of a cake as cliche as the one Will's sure to post... at this moment . One to be expected in the morning .. ( ok, it is technically morning ... well ... later this morning then ! ) Have a great Day!
  2. as promised ....It's random but adorable!
  3. Welcome aboard! To log into the chat rooms you'll need the same name and password you used to register on the site. Once you are logged in the message board, lookat the top right corner there is a direct link to the chatrooms ( Note that they are generally empty unless a sim is in progress ) AS Rosetto said , don't bother with character bio at this moment . As a rule of thumb , players only get into details about their character when they join an advance sim ,after graduation. If you have any questions , there's always a bunch of GMs around ready to answer your questions ( and as you can see the other players are friendly as well , but normally talking to the GMs is the best way to get the right answer the 1st time) oh and I forgot .. HAVE FUN!
  4. Happy B-day!!
  5. Happy Birthday!!
  6. Maturin Station was a nice change of scenery for the Manticore crew members hurrying off the ship. Shoreleave, even on a space station, was nothing to be frowned upon. Officers and enlisted personnel alike, some still in their uniform, some in more relaxed clothing, were seen mingling with the station's occupants, chatting casually at one of the bars or awaiting to be seated at one of Maturin's eateries. Leaning against the bar of the smallest establishment of the promenade was Dr. Jaz, visibly trying to ignore her stiff Romulan colleague sitting on a stool on her right. A smile appeared on her lips as she entertained the thought of switching Dr t'Tamarak's drink for something a little stronger, loosening her up a bit while they were waiting for Vilanne. "So...any plans?" Eva asked, not really caring about the answer, only trying to make small talk to break the awkwardness of the situation . Spending time with Jayisa outside sickbay and without Dr. Chalice to keep them both civil was a potentially disastrous situation. "Na particularly," Jaiysa answered absently, eying the drink she had ordered with mild skepticism. "I'm fairly sure Vilanne has every intention of finding something for me to do na matter what my opinions on the subject." Half-listening for the Rihan doctor's answer, Eva scanned the promenade. She always enjoyed observing people. She noticed the young trill ensign walking by herself, the same she had briefly seen on Manticore as they were ready to disembark. "Probably new aboard," she thought. She didn't really want to play welcoming committee, but it would definitely be better than trying to make more small talk with Jaiysa. Jaz lowered her empty glass on the bar before taking a step forward and flagging down the ensign with a hand gesture and a smile. Jaiysa raised her eyebrows slightly and turned to see what had attracted her compatriot's attention. "Do you know her?" she asked, glancing at the ensign in whom the Tr'hill maenek seemed so interested. Without looking back Eva answered, "No. Do you?" Jaiysa snorted. not bothering to answer that her chances of knowing anyone on this promenade were somewhere in the range of slim to nil. " Asteria was slowly making her way down the promenade when she noticed another Trill gesturing in her direction. "Probably one of the Manticore crew members," she thought. Having been on board only for a short time, she didn't know many people. Asteria politely smiled and waved back, changing her course and heading for the bar her fellow crew member was sitting at. Upon entering the bar, she noticed that the Romulan sitting next to the Trill looked familiar as well. Hoping she could possibly become friends and not be the "New Kid" for too long, she quickly smiled. Eva bowed politely in Asteria's direction in a customary greeting. "Figured I'd welcome you aboard by buying you a drink, Ensign...err...?" "Jaxa, Ensign Asteria Jaxa. Pleased to meet you." "Jaxa!!!" Eva exclaimed before throwing her arms around the unsuspecting Ensign's neck. Quickly realizing that Asteria still had no idea of who she was, besides a crazy woman, she added, grinning from ear to ear. "It's Jaz! You're looking good for an old woman!" All excited by this sudden reunion, Eva turned around to face Jaiysa, who was looking on bemusedly to this exchange. "I take that back, I definitely know her," she said, winking to Asteria as she did. "She was my roommate -- well, Jebel's roommate -- in medical school, and one of my best friends for, oh, 40 years!"' "Ie, really?" Jaiysa asked, glancing at the young ensign for confirmation that she had indeed known Eva that long. "You have my sincere condolences, Erein Jaxa," she deadpanned with a faint smirk, finishing off her drink. Jaz rolled her eyes , letting the comment slide . Eva turned around to Asteria, smiling like a kid on Christmas Day. "It's so good to see you!" Asteria lit up "Jaz I can't believe it's you! It's been what ? a couple centuries ?" Eva nodded, a grin on her face . "Dr t'T. You wouldn't mind explaining the situation to Vil, would you ? Tell her I'm sorry for bailing out. " She smirked before adding " on her ." The two trills sat down around one of the bars table , reminiscing about past lives, hardly paying any attention to Jaiysa and her pointed looks, well into the night until the bartender politely ushered the two of us out at closing time. **** Erein -- Ensign ie -- yes maenek -- doctor na -- no, not Tr'hill -- Trill

  16. Meritorious Achievement Award Gone was the pain , gone was the insane itchiness , gone was the anxiety of not knowing if she would still be herself tomorrow , or in an hour . A feeling of warmth and calm was surrounding her like a thick blanket . She could feel everything , every square inch of her body, or at least this mental projection of her body, was hyper sensitive . She could feel the stars she was seeing slowly waltzing around her . She could feel the air displacement created by a tiny bit of stellar dust . Somewhere in Eva's mind she knew that her sensations were rationally impossible and that if this were real she would have suffocated long ago . The second the unpleasant thought crossed her mind the scenery changed . Luscious green valleys and mountains , giant waterfalls of pink water glistening under the rays of a overly big sun , reflecting the light like an enormous , somehow liquid diamond . Eva could still feel everything and hear everything , once again her senses were heightened . Deafening sound of the cascading water , laced with the soft whisper of a breeze and the long grass swaying . Eva smiled in amazement when she noticed that she could even distinguished the quiet sound of a minuscule butterfly , flapping its wings ready to go explore more of the valley .Eva wished she could also fly like the colorful insect . Once again the mere thought of flying was enough to make it happen , not a second after the thought crossed her mind that her feet were no longer touching the cushioned grass , she was floating through the valley , gaining altitude by the minute until she was high enough to be able to take in all the beauty of the world her mind created . She closed her eyes and let the her spotted skin , absent of any unsightly greenish scale in this place , embrace the light and it's warmth . As she twirled in the air , defying all laws of physics , part of Eva knew she was in stasis , that the fight was not over yet , and that her colleagues were still searching for a cure for herself and the other infected shipmates , but such unpleasant thoughts had no place in this fabricated Shangri La. If she had to wait to be awaken , she knew she really couldn't think of a better place .

  18. Having delegated the testing of Lt Morran and the Vulcan woman to the Rihan doctor, Eva sat down by the containment field holding said lieutenant's shady associates. Trying to get important information out of an agitated Klingon and his not so bright friend was not the most appealing way of spending the reminder of her shift, but the alternative -- having to listen to more of Morran's rambling -- made Eva believe she was getting the better part of the deal. A cup of coffee in one hand, to replace the one that had been wasted when Dukath startled her with his rather loud entrance , and a PADD in the other, Eva was anxious to get down to questioning; the more she could learn about these two, the easier it would be to begin diagnosis and treatment. Ignoring Dukath, who was pacing, and scratching (against her recommendation), the young doctor turned her attention to Cal. "So, can you tell me when the symptoms..." Eva corrected herself quickly; layman's terms seemed preferable as vocabulary did not seem to be one of Cal's fortes, "...err...itch started?" Cal looked up at Eva nervously whilst itching his arm. "Just a little ago. I was escorted to my quarters...I wanted a cup of tea but the security officer had to show me how to use the replicator. We don't have replicators like that on Atarxis. A useful piece of technology, but I doubt that powers that be would let anyone have one of those there." The scrawny would-be mercenary switched arms before adding, "But yeah, it started after the security guard left. Or was it before?" Cal stopped itching for a moment and looked thoughtful. Eva put her coffee down on a console table on her right, taking the time to note Cal's answers before looking up. "It would be better if you could refrain from scratching." Eyeing Dukath, who had stopped pacing but was still clawing his face furiously, she added, "That goes for you too!" Looking back at Cal, she began "So the itch started after you got on board Manticore?", then paused when she noticed Dukath defiantly looking at her before pointedly ignoring her direction, grabbing a long medical scanner from the table beside him and using it to scratch his back. While Eva was using most of her self-restraint not to roll her eyes and give the Klingon satisfaction, Cal was starting to get agitated. "Stop scratching? What's going to happen to us? If this is something Morran did I'll, I'll..." Giving him a chance to calm down, Eva glanced in Dukath's direction. "I have warned you about the medical equipment. Now put it down or I can make this containment area a lot smaller." She made an attempt to look threatening. "Did your symptoms also start after your arrival on board?" "You'll do nothing, worm," Dukath barked before growling, pleasingly finding the right spot on his back. "And yes, they started as soon as I got back to my quarters." Eva's eyes narrowed as she cracked her neck by moving it sideways, taking a moment to keep her temper in check and letting the Klingon's insult roll over her. "Did you have anything from our replicators?" she asked on a neutral tone, having managed to keep her cool. Dukath spat, a disgusted look on his face. "I wouldn't touch that p'tagh you call food if my life depended on it." Without wasting a second and with a rather smug look on her face, Eva replied, "It does replicate a decent enough gag'h...but that's beside the point..." Getting back on track with her questioning, she addressed both of them, "Where did the itch start? Was there any change in your skin before you were brought to Sickbay?" Cal looked down at his arm. "No, I don't think there were any changes, though it does look a bit dry. And like I said, I was in my quarters when it started." Eva nodded and jotted down some more notes regarding their whereabouts and the increased frequency of the urge to scratch. Putting her PADD down, she made her way to the replicator before coming back to the containment field holding two small metal containers. Entering a command on her console, she quickly passed the containers to the itchy pair before taking her seat once again . She motioned towards the little jars. "I can only give you a mild antipruritic; it should help relieve some of the itching sensation. Since I cannot physically enter the containment area until I can declare you both non-contagious, you will have to apply it yourselves." Mimicking the movement she added "Apply it directly on the skin; it should sooth the irritation...for the time being." While Cal grabbed one of the jars, Dukath stood up by his biobed looking between his arm, which was starting to look a little scaly, and Doctor Jaz. "What have you done to us? When my uncle gets word to the high command that the Federation is capturing Klingons and infecting them with some disease... " His face contorted with anger. "Pah! Keep your cream!" In comparison, calmly sitting on his bed, Cal took the cream and started rubbing it into one of his arms and under his shirt before addressing Dukath. "You're a fool, Dukath. She's trying to help us..." Eva looked at Dukath, sipping her coffee. "The federation is not capturing Klingons nor infecting them. Sit back down! And as for the cream...if you want to suffer, knock yourself out!" she said with a hint of a smile on her face. Dukath hopped back on his biobed, growling without indication as to at whom, but taking the cream anyway. The Trill doctor, taking advantage of the fact that her patient was somewhat calmer, declared, "Dukath, I'll be blunt here, your epidermis -- your skin if you prefer -- is morphing at the molecular level. I've never seen anything like it...and there is nothing even slightly resembling your symptoms in the Federation medical database." Without giving him the time to reply, she continued, "So if you stop accusing me of playing Dr Mengle with you and answer my questions...maybe, just maybe, I can begin to understand what's happening to you and Mr. Cal and treat it, or at least slow down the transformation" Dukath seemed to understand the seriousness of the situation as he began applying the cream to his forearms. When he finally spoke , his voice wasn't as hostile as before. "I haven't noticed any changes to my...epidermis, if that's what you want to know." Eva nodded once more as she wrote down Dukath's answer. "Cooperation is good," she said without looking up . She laid the PADD back on her lap. "Ok, next question...where did the two of you go in the last 24 hrs? Have you come in contact with any unknown species of fauna or flora?" Eva glanced in Cal's direction, encouraging him to answer as well. Before doing so the middle-aged human looked between Jaz and Dukath. "We've just been on the surface of that planet...I forget what Morran called it. And the Anaximander, with Morran and Sir'al...is she okay?" Eva peeked in the next ward through one of the large windows. "She is being examined by Dr t"Tamarak as we speak," she said comfortingly. "Planet? Were the four of you on the planet or did some stay in the shuttle?" Reassured that Si'ral was at the very least taken care of, Cal answered, "We all were on the planet. I thought it was a little strange, a planet with no sun but a breathable atmosphere, but Mr. Morran said it was okay." Eva took some more notes while mumbling to herself, visibly thinking that following the word of a madman is not always the most advisable thing to do. "And what exactly were you doing on that planet?" Cal looked between Dukath and Eva some more, somewhat nervously now. "I'm not really sure I can talk about that..." At that moment, Jaiysa emerged from one of the other isoward rooms with a tricorder in one hand and an expression of mixed puzzlement and annoyance. The last twenty minutes of scans had been murderously frustrating; Morran had continued behaving as nohtho as ever, mumbling about things she could only partially even start to parse, and the yyaio who had come aboard with him had endured the scans with an aggravatingly stoic determination to be unforthcoming which made Erei'Riov T'Prise seem an ideal conversationalist by comparison. Letting the door, swish shut behind her, she made for the containment fields currently holding Jaz's patients and gestured for the Tr'hill maenek's attention. Ignoring Jai's signs for the a second -- because she liked annoying the Rihan doctor, for one thing, but mostly because she was getting exasperated by the two she was interviewing -- Eva continued addressing Cal. " Let's see...would you rather morph into something I can't determine yet?" She got up, finishing her coffee as Dukath shook his head furiously in Cal's direction. Looking at them both, she went on, "I'll let you two think it over while I confer with my colleague." And without giving them the time to add anything, she turned her back on them and walked over to Jaiysa. The Romulan looked over Eva's shoulder at the two men and then back at her, holding up her tricorder. "I have scanned the yyaio and Arrain Morran. Neither of them show any indication of the malady afflicting these two." Eva rubbed her temples briefly before examining the tricorders results. "Ok...so we're either dealing with something that only affected these two because of their unique species' physiology...or because they were somewhere and did something that Morran and the Vulcan didn't do, touch, eat..." She paused long enough to sigh loudly. "It would really make my life easier if I knew what is really going on here!" Jai raised an eyebrow, glancing at Eva, and smiled faintly; as was usual for interactions between the two maenekir, they were both aggravated; oddly enough, though, this time they were at least both aggravated at the same thing. "Ie. That does na do a great deal to narrow it down, does it?" Eva shook her head, ignoring the Romulan's smile. "No, it really doesn't...and they seem to be getting worse...they are both scratching themselves more frequently and their skin seems to be changing in appearance quickly, too." Looking in the men's direction, she went on, "I believe that unless we come up with something rather quickly, we'll have to put them both in suspended animation until we can actually understand what is happening to them." Jaiysa nodded in agreement. "And we need tissue samples, to monitor the transformation on as close a scale as possible -- perhaps even down to the level of DNA." She paused and rubbed her fingers down the bridge of her nose. "Do you believe they are contagious?" It was Eva's turn to smile "No...but I believe the containment field is the only way I'll keep him..." she motioned towards the large Klingon. "...sitting still long enough to answer my questions." "Fair enough," was Jai's answer. "Na cooperative patients, na enough time, na a recognizable disease...textbook headache, ie? Let's get to work." ***** ]Arrain -- Lieutenant Erei'Riov -- (Lieutenant) Commander ie -- yes maenek(ir) -- Doctor(s) na -- no, not nohtho -- crazy, insane Tr'hill -- Trill yyaio -- Vulcan (lit. 24. Even though she usually agreed with the proverb that states that “Sleep is a symptom of caffeine deprivation” Eva was anxious to call it a night, she would swear, tongue-in-cheek , to whoever was asking that she could feel her symbiont yawning . An inescapable consequence of having spent the better part of the day in the main science lab, running test on the samples of Echococcosis that had been manipulated by Morran. Quarter of a millennium and patience was still not her forte. The frustrating results or lack thereof had taken their toll on the Trill doctor. Five hours, 11 cups of coffee and 133 trial and errors , most of them errors , later, Eva headed back for Sickbay, being a perfectionist, she was irritated by how little she had to show for, but she wanted Dr. Mele to have all the facts before the senior staff meeting on the station, just in case the subject came up. She slumped unto her chair, rereading the notes taken earlier. Eva grimaced as she took a sip of ice-cold , hours-old coffee. She closed her eyes , pinching the bridge of her nose before breaking the silence . “Computer, begin recording” Without looking up from her PADD , Eva began. “ Jaz Preliminary finds report: After hours of analyzing the virus strain found with Lt. Morran personal effects, I am able to confirm what we already suspected : The virus was definitely derived from Echococcosis virus previously encountered by this crew . As we feared, the original Romulan strain has modified….” Eva paused before adding . “ Please note that all samples in both medical and science labs are accounted for therefore the source of the virus samples is unknown, possibly smuggled by Lt. Morran during the previous mission, but this is pure conjecture. I’ve analyzed the mutated virus structure and compared it to the Echococcosis sample on file . At this point in time , I can only confirm a disparity in the composition of the two strains. The “Morran sample” shows an added Fusion Protein, which is a surface protein responsible for the fusion of the virus envelope with the cellular membrane of the infected organism. Which indicates a targeted mutation. The virus was redesigned for a specific purpose , which is at this time still undetermined. The capsid of the virus remains intact, which seems to indicate that the main structure unit has been unaltered. Please note that the added fusion protein though is a highly alterable one , which makes me question if the analyzed mutated strain was the final result achieved by Lt Morran. …” Eva yawned and looked at her notes again before ending her report You will find included with this report , a copy of Lt. Commander Escher and Lt. T’Prise results in determining the purpose of the modification. Their experiments seem to indicate that the virus is now amphotropic and creates a autoimmune reaction in the brain before decomposing. Having been unsuccessful at preventing the breaking down of the virus , it is impossible to determine , once again, the purpose of the design. I shall continue the analysis and experimentation on the “ Morran strain “ in conjunction with the science department, until we can get answers ” “Computer stop end recording” Eva waited for the familiar beep indicating the end of the recording before transferring the data to a spare PADD . She rubbed her eyes one more time , miraculously conjuring the energy to get up from her seat.. She sighed at the though of another too short night , as she glanced at the wall chronometer on her way to Mele’s office .
  25. Happy B-Day!!
