  1. Assistant Engineer's Log Stardate 10308.24 Trichon closed the panel up on yet another repair. This was the eighth blown out conduit that he had replaced today. Lt. Jaruq had been quite right when he said that the cleanup was going to be the hard part. "Hard" wasn't quite the word for it. More like tedious. With the power grids pushed so close to the red-line during the last few days many conduits had burnt out. Luckily they had succeeded in purging the virus from the air of the Lodi colony. Some of the last colonists were just leaving the ship. Trichon stood up and headed to his next repair job. This time it looked like a replicator on deck 11 had fried its power supply during the rationing of power. Someone had not listened to the announcement and tried to use it anyway. Trichon kneeled down and took the panel off. He slid in and quickly found the problem and started to repair it. As he worked away at patching the replicator up his thoughts kept going back to Ruca. The time that he had gotten to spend with her had truly been something quite special for him. He was beginning to feel a real connection to her. Trichon was kicking himself because he had not had a chance to get a hold of her since they began off-loading all the colonists. He had been busy and he was almost positive that she had plenty of work herself. He finished off the repair and closed back up the panel. He stood back up and grabbed his engineering kit. His comm badge let out a quick chirp. "Light here." "Hey Trichon," Seiben's voice answered "Don't forget I have us booked for some holodeck time when you get off duty. Holodeck 3." "Yeah I wont forget. Just have some more repairs to finish up and then I will meet you there. Light out." Trichon sighed. "Yeah only about another dozen or so jobs." Trichon entered a Turbolift and headed to the next job. LtJg Trichon Light Asst Engineer USS Arcadia
  2. I would like to change mine to "The Pip Daddy" thanks.
  3. "Taking Flight" -- Part Three Ensign Trichon Light & Ensign (Doctor) Ruca N'Etani (w/ Special Guest Appearence by Lt. JG Hans Seiben) Stardate 0308.018 -------------------------------------- Trichon pushed his plate away. He was stuffed. He looked around and noticed the room was filling up at a startling pace. "Well I don't know about you but that was quite good. And I am stuffed." Ruca nodded in agreement, chewing up the last of her honey glazed chicken and taking a sip of her iced tea. She swallowed it quickly and smiled at him, "Me too.. that just hit the spot. I had forgotten that I hadn't really gotten lunch today .. so I was famished." She glanced around at the room, also noticing it filling up, ".. and we seemed to have missed the dinner rush at least." "I was just noticing that. Maybe we should get out of here before it gets really crowded." She placed the napkin that had been politely laid across her lap to the side and stood up, "I agree.. I am not a big fan of crowds. They make me nervous." She brushed her hair over her shoulder, and stretched her back out a bit. And then pushed her chair in. Trichon followed Ruca's lead and stood up and pushed the chair in. He stretched a little bit. "I dont know about you but I need to walk that meal off." Her eyes looked over at him, and she nodded, "Okay.. a walk sounds nice. I wouldn't mind exploring the ship a little more. I still get lost occasionally." "Sounds like a plan" Trichon started to walk toward the door. Right before they left the doors opened and Hans came rushing in to the mess hall trying to beat the dinner rush. "Hey Hans. You look in a hurry." Ruca paused in her step, standing next to Trichon and looking upon Seiben in front of her. "Yeah, just got back from the sickbay.. and I'm starving What are you guys doing here?" "Food. I mean.. we aren't doing the food.. eating it. Dinner. There was dinner." Ruca stopped, bit her lip and realized her rambling was at her again. Both of them gave her strange look. "Well, you see there was food. Just like Ruca said and you know me. I don't pass up a meal." Seiben nods and understands. "I see, Trichon". He looks to Trichon's new friend. "I don't think we've met before. You are?" "Hans, let me introduce you to Doctor Ruca N'Etani. She transferred aboard right about the same time I did." Seiben extended his hand. "Well I am pleased to make your acquaintance, frauleine N'Etani. I am Lieutenant Jr. Grade Hans Seiben at your service." She took his hand, shaking it a bit, ".. yes. Nice to meet you too.." Trichon looked towards the door, "Well Seiben we were on our way out." "Oh, alright. Where are you two headed? If I may ask." Ruca watched people pour in, snatching heaping piles of tatertot casserole. It was going fast. She wondered what the appeal was. She glanced at Seiben, and then at Trichon.. since he had been leading the way in the first place. "Well we were going to umm." Trichon wondered what he was going to say, "Sickbay, I am still having those headaches and Doctor N'Etani said she might have something for it." "Yes.. his headaches are getting quite acute. Food wasn't helping.. so, I thought, a hyposray might help." Ruca nodded, trying to sound convincing. "Still, Trichon? Well, then. Get better soon my friend. We have an appointment on the holo-deck next week. " Seiben smiled and said. "Don't worry Hans. I don't intend on backing out of our dog-fight. See you in engineering tomorrow." Trichon turned and headed towards the door. "Nice talking with you.. mister Seiben." She smiled a bit, and followed Trichon. "Of course, Trichon." Seiben said, then chivalrously bowed to Ruca.. "Auf vetersein, frauleine N'Etani,"Seiben then smiled, and lined up for the casserole. Trichon and Ruca finally made it out of the mess hall. "Well now how about that walk?" She glanced back at the closing mess hall doors, "Yes.. walk. I.. just, well.. why didn't you tell him our walking plans? Or.. did you not want him to know?" She looked up at him, her steely hazel eyes looking directly at his. "Well I just wanted to spend some time with you and he might have wanted to tag along." "Oh..", she paused, ".. I suppose that makes sense." Ruca crossed her arms, and began walking in a random direction, ".. well, let's see what this walk holds for us.. can't be more adventurous than that shuttle ride." She smiled, and glanced her shoulder, knowing he'd catch up easily. Trichon followed Ruca and walked right beside her. "No our shuttle ride was pretty exciting." "But fun.. I appreciate you trying to help me with it. You appear to be a very talented pilot." Ruca occasionally glanced out of the corner of her eye at him. "Thanks. Piloting is one of the few things that I take a lot of pride in." "What are the other things?" she asked, with a genuine curiosity, ".. if I may ask.." "Model cars. As odd as that might sound." He smiled and looked over at Ruca. "Model cars.. you mean.. mini-versions of those transportation vehicles that people used on Earth?" She had to make sure, as she wasn't from Earth originally. "Exactly. I am fascinated by old cars. It was one of the few things my father did not discourage me from doing while I still lived at home. Even though in a way cars are what made me want to become an engineer." "I can see why it would make you become interested in engineering.." she smiled, "..maybe you can show me those mini cars one day." "Really," Trichon smiled, "I have never met anybody else that was even slightly interested in them." "I'm always interested in things I don't know a lot about. And it seems important to you.." As they walked a little more Trichon looked over at Ruca. "I feel like I have been talking about myself all night. What about you." Ruca watched the floor slightly as she walked, ".. me? What about me?" "Yeah," Trichon looked at her, "like what do you like to do in your spare time? What books do you like? That kind of thing." "Spare time.. if I have any.. I'm a bit boring really," she smiled, sheepishly .. with a hint of blush in her cheeks, ".. well, I like to relax. You know, meditation.. and I like art.." She crossed her arms in front of her..".. I do watercolours.. and music, I really love music. I listen to it and I play a few instruments.." "Really music. That's incredible. What do you play?" he said with lots of excitement in his voice. Ruca was surprised that showed an interest, ".. well, I play the piano and guitar. I'm learning the violin. And I play a lor'elyn. It's a harp-like instrument from my home. I replicated myself one when I started at the Academy." Her smiled faded ever-so-slightly, "I.. had never been able to learn it as a child..." she brought her smile back up quickly, ".. so I taught myself later.." Trichon listened intently. "I tried to play the flute once. I was no good. That is awesome that you can play all those instruments. You'll have to play for me sometime." "Maybe I will.. I've never played for anyone before. No one really seemed to notice." She glanced at him, noting that he was so focused on her, ".. I cook too. I enjoy cooking. And some sports." "Cooking eh. Now that is something your definately going to have to do for me sometime." Trichon smiled. She laughed, ".. okay, I promise I will. But I do not know how to make tatertot casserole, or whatever that was they were serving." Trichon laughed. "No that's quite allright. I am more of an italian food guy. I say there's nothing a good Lasagna wont cure." "Lasagna.. I'll have to learn that one." She grinned a bit, ".. I'm sure I can learn it. Someone told me italian food is easy." As they continued walking Trichon realized they were near his quarters. "Hmmm. I didn't even notice that at all." ".. notice what?" She looked around at the doors on either side. "My quarters are right up the hall here." Ruca looked up the hall.. at the doors in the short distance, ".. oh, fancy that. I suppose we walked quite a bit." "I guess we did. I didn't even realize. You know what they say. Time flies when your having fun. And great company doesn't hurt either." Her cheeks burned that rosy shade again, "I agree, entirely.. well, I suppose I should be heading off.. since we walked and all." Trichon wondered what he should say. He didn't want her to go. "Umm. You don't have to leave. I can always show you my model cars." She glanced at him, and than at his door. Model cars. It couldn't hurt. And she was very interested in seeing them, ".. that would be nice. If you don't mind.. I know it's been a long day and I wouldn't want to impose at all.." She bit her lip, that damn rambling again. "Its not a problem at all." Now it was Trichon's turn to blush. He couldn't remember the last time he was this nervous about inviting a girl into his quarters. "Okay.. let's see these mini cars of yours then.. " She smiled, and waited for him to open the door and invite her in. "Okay" Trichon keyed his entry code and opened the door. "After you madam." Ruca smiled and walked in, sure she was going to enjoy seeing one of Trichon's pride and joys, and unsure of exactly what would happen next.
  4. Happy 21st Doctor. Enjoy it while it lasts
  5. I agree completly. Joint logs are a great way to tell a story that you couldnt otherwise could not tell during a normal sim. And they are excellent for character development. I have done a couple of them one just being posted over on the arcadia logs. Not only are they great development but they can be alot of fun. They also let you see your character through the eyes of your ship-mate's.
  6. "Taking Flight" -- Part One Ensign Trichon Light & Ensign (Doctor) Ruca N'Etani Stardate 0308.016 -------------------------------------- Trichon had finally decided to go to sickbay. The headaches had not gotten any better after they had left Lodi. He was still also having trouble sleeping. He walked into sickbay and looked around for a doctor. Ruca ignored the swish of the Sickbay doors behind her, as she input her reports for the day into the medical computer. Her delicate fingers grazed the panel as she spoke without turning around, "Can I help you with anything?" "Yes I have been having these awful headaches since we left the Lodi Colony, and I thought it might have something...." Trichon paused for a second and realized that it was Ruca that was there. It had startled him, but in a good way. Ruca blinked. She'd recognized the voice and turned around immediately, "Mister Light.. not feeling up to par?" She smiled ever-so-lightly, ".. maybe I can help you with that.." "I hope so..." Trichon stammered a bit, "It will be nice to get a good nights sleep for a change." She nodded, sleep had been elusive to her as well, "I agree.. come on over here and have a seat. Let me see if I can soothe your pain." Ruca gestured to the nearest biobed, then she grabbed her kit and placed it to the side where she could easily reach it's tools. Trichon sat on the biobed and glanced around. He decided to try and lighten the mood with some small talk, "So are you the only one in sickbay right now?" Ruca shook her head, "There are a few nurses in the back, tending to some inventory. But I am the only doctor. Why, would you prefer someone else to see to your ailment?" She smiled at him just slightly, as she reached for her tricorder and entered in a few codes. "No, not at all. It's just that I have actually been meaning to get a hold of you." Ruca started scanning him, ".. really? I've been meaning to do the same thing.." she paused, ".. I mean, to get a hold of you." Trichon looked at Ruca. "Really what a coincidence ..huh." "Yes.. I suppose it is. " She smiled a real genuine smile, which was sometimes difficult to get from her, but it quickly disappeared as she continued her scans, ".. what did you want ..?" Trichon noticed Ruca smiling, "Well I seem to remember offering to give you some shuttling lessons when we got back from the Lodi colony. And well I was wanting to know if you still were interested?" She blinked her eyes once, and looked up at him. He remembered that? Their conversation? Ruca was sure her cheeks gave away her surprise at that, ".. I, Yes, .. yes, I'm still interested. Oh.. and your scans are fine. I'm just going to give you a little something for it.." Trichon grinned. "Good. I have some great holodeck programs that I wrote for myself to keep in practice." She moved away to prepare the hypospray, but looked over her shoulder at him, "That sounds wonderful.. though, I must warn you.. I'm a terrible pilot. Probably the worse you've ever seen.." She chuckled a bit, more in embarrassment than anything else. "Ahhh you cant be that bad. Now I had a friend at the academy who was awful. I tried helping him out on many occasions. He was so bad they would not even let him in the simulators after a while." Trichon smiled, "Don't worry after a few lessons you'll be flying rings around me." She walked back to him, the hypo in hand, and laughed a little, "I am glad you have such confidence." She gently touched his neck, nudging him to tilt it, ".. let me inject this and you'll feel better in no time." Trichon tilted his neck and heard the hypo hiss. "I hope so. These headaches have been murder." Ruca rubbed the spot where she injected in her usual gentle bedside manner, then put the hypo aside, "There have been others complaining about it too.. but hopefully that will help?" She smiled at him lightly and began to pack up her tools to put away. "Hopefully. I think most of it has to do with that sewer bath I took on the colony. Don't even know who they got to haul me to a shuttle after I got knocked out." Trichon hopped off the biobed and turned to face Ruca. "So do I get a clean bill of health doc?" She placed her tools away and then faced him, "Yes, you are fine .. in fact ..you are definitely looking better than you did when you first got here. You clean up well.. " "Why thank you doc. I do try to look my best." Ruca murmured, "No need to try.. really." She cleared her throat, and pressed a lock of hair behind her ear, ".. when did you want to do these lessons?" Trichon thought he heard Ruca say something under her breath. "Umm whenever you want I get off duty around 17:00 today. I don't have any plans then." "I get off around the same time.. I'd like to go freshen up first, but perhaps..17:30? And maybe get a bite to eat afterwards?" She laughed a little, ".. that is, if you can stomach food after I fly you around.." Trichon laughed "Sounds great and don't worry I think my appetite is going to be fine. So 17:30 then?" "Yes.. I'll see you then.." She clasped her hands behind her back, twisting her right foot inward a bit, nodding at him. "All right I will see you later today then." Trichon turned and headed for the door of sickbay. he turned around one last time and smiled at Ruca before he walked out. Ruca watched him leave .. catching his bright smile before he disappeared behind the doors. She couldn't wait. A friend. She could use a friend. And from the feeling deep down in her gut, she knew this was a friendship about to take flight...
  7. Asst Engineers Log Stardate 10308.15 "Computer begin recording log. Well it looks like things are finnaly begining to settle down around here. With the evac of the Lodi colony finnaly over with it looks like we can get back to our daily routine. I did learn one very important thing during the whole Lodi colony mission. Never go for a stroll in a contaminated sewer. Not only am I never going to get that smell out of that paticular uniform but also that virus was a real winner. Even though I was given a clean bill of health from Dr Pierce but I keep having these headaches that just wont go away. I think Dr. Pierce is letting them linger as a way of getting even with me for not listening to her. Now my idea of a good time is not lying around while other people are trying to get things done. It makes me feel so useless. So what did I do. I snuck away at the best moment from the good doctor. I then proceeded to pilot a shuttle back and forth from Arcadia to the colony to help with the evac. I will admit it was proabaly not in my best intrest to expose myself to the virus again but I had to do something. Once I ran my second shuttle run I felt like I was going to pass out again. I decided then that it was best to just relax and take it easy just like the doctor ordered, but not in the shuttlebay. I decided to head to main engineering where I could accomplish the most. After we finnaly offloaded all the colonists I finnaly went back to my quarters to crash. On a more personal note I have decided to wear the necklace that my father had called his goodluck charm in my dream. The dream itself seemed so real to me. Whether or not it was a side affect of the virus or not I do not know. Now if only I can do something about these headaches. I think it would be best to make a trip to sickbay, and who knows I might run into ensign N'etani while I am there. End recording."
  8. Trichon tried to stop coughing long enough to finishing working on the computer. He could barely stand. He looked over and noticed that Seiben wasnt looking well either. It must have been from the sewer water. They must have swallowed a pure form of the virus. Trichon stumbled and fell. He didnt fight the urge to pass out anymore. He collapsed and his head hit the metal grating of the control room. Trichon looked around. He was back home in New Tycho. The last thing he remembered was falling in a sewer and needing a shower rather badly. He opened the front door of his old house and stepped in. He had not been here in years but everything was exactly the same as when he had left. He stepped into the kitchen and there in front of him was his father making breakfast. "Well dont just stand there like a idiot. Sit down and have breakfast with your old man." Gary started putting food on a plate for Trichon. Trichon just stared for a moment. Not wanting to argue with his dad he sat down at the table. "Its good to see you dad." "You know this isnt real son. Its all just something your mind is doing while your unconcious right?" Gary sat down at the table and started eating. "I know dad but somehow it still feels real to me. Theres so much I want to ask you, so much I dont know." Gary stopped eating. "Son. I dont know what I can tell you that you dont allready know." "The one thing I want to know is why you never told me that I was half El-Aurian?" "You didnt need to know son. Do you think that telling you would have helped anything at all. You hated me enough as it was. How would you have felt if I told you that you were going to have to grow up and watch everyone you ever cared about wither and die in front of you. I couldnt do that to you son." "Still I had a right to know. Its my life dad not yours" Trichon stood up from the table, "Thats why I left home. Because you always felt you had to control my life. You never approved of anything that I did. The only thing you ever tolerated me doing was antique cars." "I did those things to protect you son. I didnt want to see you make the same mistakes I made. I didnt want to see you become a failure like me son. I lived for over 300 years and look at me. I am some farmer on a planet that I dont even consider home. In my youth I had such aspirations. I did things you would not even begin to fathom son." Trichon looked up at his father. He knew now from reading his logs that he had been on the run from something or someone. "Why did you hide on Trill dad?" "Your not ready to know that son. All I have to say is when the time is right you'll know." Gary stood up and walked towards the back door. "Dad where are you going?" "My time here is done son. I have to go now. You have to wake up now." Gary opened the door and a blinding light flooded in. "Do your old man one last favor son. That necklace that was in that box. It was mine. It was a kinda family heirloom. Now it belongs to you. Wear it for luck. I gotta go." Gary walked through the door and into the light. Trichon rushed to follow him and walked into the bright light. Trichons eyes fluttered open for a moment. He looked around and saw he was on a shuttle. He still was coughing and lightheaded but at least for the moment he was alive. He leaned his head back and slipped back into unconciousness.
  9. Asst Engineers Log Stardate 10308.04 I am begining to think that I have seriously underestimated that Tepi guy. Everything we have thrown at the Water Reclamation Plant has been unsuccesful. The only thing I have managed to do was open the door. It didnt help at all considering the force-field that was in place. Me and Lt Seiben even tried using a modified phaser to emit a meta-phasic pulse to try and reset the sheild harmonics but to no avail. And it really dosent help that one of the marines keeps wanting to just blow it up. That seems to be there solution for everything. Now I am not one to deny the value of a well placed thermal charge but theres just no finesse to it. The only other thing I could think of was to try the sewer access into the Plant. I cant believe I even suggested it. It kinda just slipped out. If I hadnt said it I am sure someone else would have sooner or later. I am dreading wading around in tunnels knee high in god only knows what. The other concern I have is the virus itself. We might be exposing ourselves to it down there as well. Well no sense in worrying about it now. I just hope if we are exposed to something Dr Telano and the others can patch us up. For now it looks as if its time to navigate through the sewers. Even though there is no finesse in it.
  10. Trichon studied the contents of the Padd again for the third time in as many minutes. The data that the old man at the water reclamation center gave him just did not add up. The whole thing was confusing. For starters upon arriving at the Reclamation Center he had almost immediately found a circuit board that had been tampered with as well as the backups. Now Lt. Jaruq had every reason to be upset with the old man but it wasn't the way to go about it. If Trichon had learned one thing from his father it was that you always caught more fly's with honey than vinegar. A few kind words here and there's and then Trichon had the info he needed. The Water Reclamation Center had been broken into about 2 weeks prior and was vandalized by a gang of some sort. They had tagged the place and left. They had been caught not long after. The one thing that really bothered Trichon was that how could someone miss something like a faulty circuit board for 2 weeks. Trichon sat the Padd down. It seemed that the old man, Tepi, had to be involved in one way or the other. He had said something that just didn't seem right to Trichon. Tepi mentioned that he had been drinking the water for the last 2 weeks and he was not sick at all. It had already been established that the virus was transmitted through the water supply and Lt. Seiben had found signs that the tanks themselves had been tampered with as well. It was definitely all adding up to either Tepi was responsible for what had happened or at least played some part of it. One way or the other Trichon had to make sure that all the info he had been given made it to someone in charge of security. Lt. Col. Quest had been the logical choice but what with the bar fight and jail it didn't seem likely that she would be in any position to look into anything for a while. This whole mission was getting more interesting by the second.
  11. What about Moose. He would make a fine admiral indeed. And I have to stick up for him. He is my captain after all.
  12. Trichon opened his tricorder and started taking readings looking for the Water Reclamation Plant. Hopefully this mission shouldn't take to long. Trichon still had a lot of work to do on the Arcadia. He had almost finished going through his fathers logs. He had scoured them in hopes he would find some mention of what he was running from. Lo'Ami seemed to be avoiding him as of late and who could blame him. He had found out that the whole relationship between his father and a previous host had been nothing more than a charade to hide from someone or something. The question that had been bothering Trichon was what? He was sure the answer laid somewhere in the logs. Maybe sending copies of the logs to Lo'Ami so he could look at them and maybe find the answer. But all that had to be put on the backburner for the moment. Trichon had to focus on the mission to the Lodi colony. So far one good thing had come out of this mission. On the way down in the shuttle he had a chance to talk a little bit more with Ensign N'etani. She was a remarkable woman, charming, and beautiful. He looked forward to getting to know her a bit more. Hopefully when the work permitted he could give her those shuttle piloting lessons he had promised her. "Mr. Light." Trichon shook his head and looked back. Lt. Jaruq and Lt. Seiben were there. "Yes sir." "Have you been able to locate the reclamation plant, yet?" "Its just a few meters this way sir" Trichon pointed in the direction of the water reclamation plant. He started heading towards it and hoping that they could find the problem soon and help these people start to get on with there lives.
  13. I worked. Someone has to keep the malls open. We are the few the proud the mall employees. Oh yes indeed. I mean where else is everyone going to come get movies after all. I mean Suncoast is the coolest place on earth after all.(followed very closely by Vegas).
  14. The door to his quarters whooshed open and Trichon walked in. He almost tripped over a box that was in doorway of his room. "Ouch. What the heck." He looked down and looked and the box and realized what it was. His fathers personal effects had finally gotten here. Trichon leaned down and picked the box up and set it on the table. He stared at it for what seem an eternity. Finally he opened it up and started to sift through the objects. Most of it was diaries and logs of various forms. Some were written on paper some were spoken. There were some various other things but one item attracted him the most. He picked it up and looked at it. It was a gorgeous necklace. Trichon knew that it could not have been his mothers so the question was who's was it. He sat down on the couch and started skimming some of the diaries. And stopped for a moment. "Computer begin recording log for stardate 10307.05. Well, this has most definitely been an interesting week both professionally and personally. I guess the peace talks went okay I don't know for sure. Lt. Jaruq looked very stressed last time I saw him. I thought I was going to be in some serious trouble after the incident in engineering during the initial peace talks. With the strain we had keeping the impulse engines going to maintain our orbit we had taxed the power cores to there limit. Well, I guess something went very wrong during the talks. Someone put up some internal forcefield and threw the power matrix into chaos. Unfortunately Hans was on the bridge when this happened and I was left alone. Bad timing I guess. Well, I wound up pushing the reactors to a little over 110% to try and get the power levels evened up. Needless to say the operations officer was not too happy about it. Thankfully Lt. Jaruq stuck up for me. Afterward I initiated a program that would constantly update the power settings and keep them equalized during the peace talks. On a more personal note my dads personal effects finally arrived. I really have not had a chance to start going through it. Mostly diaries it looks like. I think I need to talk to Lt. Lo'Ami though as most of the diaries have entries entitled Juliana. I havent looked at them yet. I feel as if they would benefit him more than me though. And if I am right I think this necklace might need to go to him as well. I think its a little strange that someone I have just met may know more about my father than I do. I guess its just one more question to add to the enigma that was my father. End log" The computer beeped and stopped recording. Trichon stared at the necklace and diaries and decided it was time to talk to Lo'Ami.
  15. Could I have "the Bringer of Light"
  16. I can see it all ready a chain of McPanda Burgers everywhere. Hmmm it has potential.
  17. Trichon wandered around his quarters and walked over to the replicator. "Milk, warm." The replicator came to life and a glass of warm milk appeared. Trichon picked it up and sat down on the couch. "Computer begin recording Log for stardate 10306.29" "Ready to Begin Recording" "Well, I must say this ship continues to impress me every day. The dilithium crystal itself is a mystery to me. A perfect crystal. Not even so much as a hairline crack on it. That honestly should not be possible. The crystal itself has been in the chamber for over 2 months and it show no signs of any detoriation. I am simply waiting for Lt. Jaruq's approval to run stress tests on the crystal, but I have a feeling that the Lt. is going to be busy for the time being. I can honestly say that I feel sorry for Thomas. Its very true he is not a diplomat at all but yet he is being assigned to the negations that are to take place in the next few days. I am just glad its not me. I hate dress uniforms." Trichon paused and let out a huge yawn. "My insomnia is letting up a little and hopefully with Dr. Telano's advice I should be able to get a good nights sleep. I just wish I could talk to someone about all that has happened to me in the last week. I mean its bad enough my father a man I hardly knew died, but then on top of that I find out that I am half El-Aurian. I have tried to find out all I could about El-Aurians from the Federation database. There's very little in there. It says El-Aurians are a race of listeners and have unnaturally long life spans. That dosent really help me all that much. What I really need to do is find another El-Aurian and find out all I can, but that's going to be difficult. After the Borg destroyed there homeworld they became scattered. There's also the small matter of Lt. LoAmi's zhian'tara. I don't even want to talk about that. I am still trying to piece that whole experience together. Maybe I should schedule an appointment with the ships counselor. I can just hear that conversation. 'What seems to be the problem.' 'Oh my dad died and I also found out he was over 350 and an alien but other than that I am just peachy.' I am just going to have to work through these problems on my own. End Log" The computer chirped and let Trichon know that the recording had ended. He walked into the bedroom and laid down on the bed, "Computer, play some music. Something relaxing." The computer began to play some soft music. Trichon looked at the ceiling for a bit before he finally started to feel drowsy and finally fell asleep.
  18. Trichon approached Lt. Lo'Ami's room. He rang the buzzer and heard someone say come in. He walked into the room and noticed a Vulcan he had not met yet. "Sir I was supposed to bring you these reports. If you don't mind me asking I did not interrupt anything did I?" Lo'Ami looked at Trichon. "No ensign. I was just getting in touch with myself so to speak. We were performing the zhin'tara. Its a Trill right of passage." "Anything I could do to help sir. I am new and anything I can do well it makes me feel useful." "Acutally you can Ensign.... What was it again?" "Ensign Light sir. Trichon Light." "Trichon. Well, Trichon the zhian'tara will allow a host of mine to talk through you. So I can become whole again. Sounds like something you would be interested in?" "Anything to help out. Lets get started." The Vulcan walked over to Trichon and placed one hand on his face and the other on Lo'Ami's stomach. The Vulcan looked us and asked Trichon "Who are you?" "I am Juliana Lo'Ami. Ahh so its your zhin'tara huh." "Yes," Lo'Ami responded. She noticed that Trichon's voice had taken on a subtly feminine tone to it. "So tell me a little about yourself." "Well," Trichon moved over to the couch sat down and crossed his legs, "not much to tell really. I was a private Investigator on the Trill Homeworld. To my knowledge I was only the 2nd or 3rd host. I was good at my job. There was nothing more satisfying to me then my work. At least until I met him." "Him?" "Yes. See I was hired to work a case. The strangest case I ever had. My client believed there were aliens on the homeworld. I thought he was crazy but the money was good so I took the case. I was sent to investigate some people and I met a man that was the most unique person I had met up to that point in my life. He was suspected of being an alien. I tried very hard to determine this fact for myself. I started spending time following him. I asked everyone I could about him. Nobody knew where he came from its just as if he had just popped out of no where and started leading a life as a farmer. One day I was tailing him and he spotted me. I ran but he caught up to me and he grabbed my arm." "And then what happened?" "He asked me out to dinner. I must admit there was something about him that I found charming. I went to dinner with him even though I shouldn't have. He was a case not a prospective boyfriend. He was a very interesting man as I learned over dinner. He was a farmer by trade. He was a very passionate man. But nothing I learned would prove that he was an alien. After dinner he asked if we could go out again. I said yes. I actually said yes several more times." "So you had a steady relationship with him?" "Yes, I had the case dropped and told my clients that he was no alien. Even though something in the back of my mind always told me there was something different about him. It didn't stop me from falling in love with him. We even had some children. 1 boy and 1 girl. I know our son Braca joined the initiate program for joining. I know my daughter got married but after that I don't know what happened." "Did you ever get married to him?" "We thought about it, but we never did. I think back now and wish I had." "So what happened to him?" "Well, there was always a thought at the back of my mind that this man that I had fallen in love with had been accused of being an alien. Well, something finally proved that he was. As I got older I started to show my age of course. He didn't. It was like he didn't age at all. When I finally asked him about it he told me he didn't know what I was talking about. I accused him of being an alien. He told me I was crazy. I yelled and screamed at him that I wanted the truth. He told me that he couldn't tell me the truth. He said he loved me too much. I told him to leave my house and to not come back until he was ready to tell me the truth. He left and that was the last I saw of him." "The last you saw of him?" "Yes, It was like he just disappeared. I never could prove that he even existed on any records or anything after that. It was like he was just a figment of my imagination. I went around and told everyone that he was an alien. I was treated like a laughing stock. My own son Braca had me locked away in an asylum and had me dubbed unfit to be joined anymore. The commitee agreed and decided to have the symbiote removed. The symbiote was removed and I died shortly after. I believe it was shortly after my 89th birthday. I always what happened to that man. Even though I accused him of being an alien I still loved him very much." "What was his name if you don't mind me asking." "Not at all. As I remember he had a very strange name. It was Gary Light. Well, I must be going now. I hope the rest of your zhin'tara goes well," with that Trichons body became his own again. He stared at Lo'ami for a moment. Trichon started to tear up a bit. "Sir I have to be going now. I have some ... some. I have to go." Trichon ran out of the room. Lo'ami wondered if he should go after him, and decided it would be better if he left him alone for the time being.
  19. The ringing in his quarters was non stop. Trichon grabbed his bathrobe and put it on and headed to the panel. "Yes, what is it?" "You have an incoming transmission from the Tycho Colony," the computer replied. "Put it through." The video panel came to life and a man he had never seen appeared on the view screen. "Are you Trichon Light?" the man asked a sullen tone in his voice. "Yes, And who might you be?" "Ah good. My name is Harlan Clay. I am the head of security in the Tycho lunar colony. I have some bad news for you son." Trichon stared at the man and waited for him to continue. "Go ahead." "Well, I was a friend of your father. We would get together and have dinner once a week. Ever since Eleanor passed away 2 years ago well your father just wasn't the same. I still went over for dinner once a week but the light in his eyes had just gone away. Well, I was going over to the house for dinner last night and when I knocked Gary didn't answer the door. I went in and...." Harlan trailed off and started pause. "... He was lying on the floor dead. I called the doctors and they said there was nothing they could do. He died of a heart failure. I am sorry." Trichon stared at the screen for a moment. "I see Mr. Clay. I appreciate you letting me know. Was there anything else you needed." "Yes, Your father had a message recorded for you. He left me a note letting me know how to get ahold of you and to make sure you got it. I am going to send it to you now. I just want to let you know your father was a good man. I am going to miss him." "Thank you Mr. Clay. Thank you again," the screen blinked off and the file started to transmit. When it was done Trichon looked at the screen. "Computer. Play message" The screen came to life and the image on it was of Trichon's father. "Hello son. If you are getting this message then it must mean I am dead. I feel that as my life is coming to its close that I must tell you some things son. First off I have not been a very good father to you. I have kept secrets from you all your life about who you are. Those secrets end now. Trichon, son I am over 300 years old. I am an El-Aurian. I came to earth with my first wife Sara aboard a refuge ship after the Borg destroyed our world. The Lacul ran into an energy disturbance called the Nexus. We couldnt break free of it. The ship was breaking up and I was ready to die with my wife when I was ripped from her by Starfleet. I had been rescued by the Enterprise. I was among the few that survived. My wife did not. I was furious. I wanted to go back and die with her. They would not let me. That is why I hate Starfleet the way I do. They rescued me but not her. I could never forgive them for that. I decided to get on with my life the best I could. I settled in Tycho City and started my life over again. It wasn't until 20 years later I met your mother. Eleanor. We had a good life. It was even better the day you were born son. You see I never thought me and your mother could have children. I did not believe that a El-Aurian and a human would be able to conceive a child. And then you were born. Me and your Mother decided it was best we not tell you until you were old enough to understand. After you left us and then your mother died. I have decided I cannot go on. I have watched everyone I care about either grow old and die, or they leave me. I am going to take a small amount of a poison that will induce heart failure...." Trichon looked at the screen his father was starting to cry. "I only have one more thing to tell you son. I was never there for you when you needed me. And you probably hate me more than anyone else. I am sorry son." Gary paused and was crying he recomposed himself and finished. "Whatever you decide to do with your life son. Just know one thing. I will always be proud of you and everything you ever do. I love you son." The recording ended and his fathers image faded away and left only darkness. Trichon looked at the blank screen and collapsed in a pile on the floor. He started to cry like he had not done in a long time. He stopped crying long enough to look at the picture of his family on the table and he whispered "I love you too dad." That night Trichon cried more than he had in his entire life.
  20. I am glad to have a kindred spirit then.
  21. Trichon walked into the dark quarters. "Computer Lights" The lights in the room flared to life. He walked over to the couch and collapsed. He looked around and sighed. "Computer," he paused, "begin recording Personal Log for stardate 10306.22." The computer answered back "Ready to begin recording." "I can definitely say this has been the most unique first few days on the job I have ever had. It seemed only yesterday I was sitting in the academy dreaming of being assigned duty on a starship. But my first day onboard went a lot different from what I had expected. To begin with I met Lt. Jaruq and he helped show me around the ship. While trying to find quarters for me we were told to head to a transporter room and get in some EVA suits. Now I have never liked EVA suits so I stared to panic just a little. We were supposed to head to the Revere and pull the computer cores. Well, something must have gone really wrong because once we materialized we were floating in space. Luckily me and the Lt. Jaruq were able to get a distress call to the Arcadia and were rescued. Now I am not keen on sickbay at all but with the addition of Ensign N'etani I might have to start making some excuses to go there more often. After me and the Lt. escaped sickbay he showed me around a little and then we finally found some quarters for me. I cant help but to think back to when I was floating in space. I never really pictured myself dying that way. I always thought I would go out in a blaze of glory saving the lives of my crew mates." Trichon looked over at a picture of him and his family that he had on the table. He paused for a moment and then continued to dictate the log to the computer. "I also thought of Mom for some reason. I had not thought of her since she died. I have always regretted my decision to stay at the academy instead of going to her funeral. It wasn't because I didn't want to go. No, it was because he was going to be there. Dad would have tried to blame it on me. I could just here him. "This is all you fault. If you would have never went to the academy this wouldn't have happened." Dad hates Starfleet more than anything else in the world. He would never say why. Anytime I mentioned he said he had his reasons. I miss Mom more and more every day. She used to send me letters at the academy saying that she was proud of me. I never even asked her about dad. Now that I think about it I have not even spoken to the man since the night I told him I was joining Starfleet. I left and have not ever looked back." Trichon stopped for a moment looked around and told the computer to end the recording. That was enough for one day he thought. Now time for a nice shower and then get some rest before the Arcadia got ready to ship out again in a few days. Just a few more days peace before then.
  22. One thing you need to remember Voric. Stop worrying about graduating and just have fun. If all your worried about is graduating then your missing out on half the fun of simming. Just stay within the story and chain of command. And above all have fun with it.
  23. I am going to have to agree with everyone else. Both Ds9 and TNG took to the 3rd season to hit there stride. I myself think Enterprise will do the same. The episodes started to get really good around the end of season 2. I also enjoy seeing them introduce their "new" technology. Its great seeing everyone not wanting to use the transporter becasue they are not sure that its going to work. So all in all Enterprise is a decent show right now, but hopefully next season is when it will start to become it's own show and be able to become a great show.
