Hakran K'hal: From the perspective of building an AT for this mission it was a valid assignment. If you want her... in a professional capacity, bring her. Indaura Ryssan: I hope my atypical approach to counseling won't put people off. Denobulans are pretty open compared to some species, often out of necessity. We live in very close quarters out of need. Cptn Swain: ::Sighs and stands:: Well, I'll have some things to do before dinner. You have the conn, K'hal. Irene Mincine: :: Irene smirks at the last line. :: "Right. I do think we should have more than just biology represented. I'll collect some people from other specialties and meet you in the transporter room." Indaura Ryssan: I mean.. having a few creatures in the office will be different for some. Unless they have their own pets. Maryse Dubois: ::Smirks.:: Rhan K'hal: Aye, sir. Indaura Ryssan: But if you can get the insects to sing...during a session. Hmm Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Cdr Jalen Stanton> Yes, I read your file. You have quite an extensive family. Cptn Swain: ::Heads to his ready room:: Hakran K'hal: Good. This is going to be a trial balloon, by the way. You'll be directing the away team. :: waves his padd :: I need to give the new XO an assessment on whether you can lead ATs on your own. Indaura Ryssan: Two husbands, each having two wives.. 23 all together. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Cdr Jalen Stanton> With that concern out of the way, another concern was to ensure that you weren't going to be bogged down with pulling double duty, Dr. Ryssan. Seeing as how you seem prepared to do both, then I suppose I have my answer to that. Hakran K'hal: :: turns :: Transporter room 4, deck 11. Indaura Ryssan: I'm just down the way, though I am not opposed to sessions wherever they need me. Irene Mincine: Val> :: After Swain leaves. :: "Sounds like one hell of a dinner party they've got planned." Irene Mincine: Irene> :: Smiles at the show of confidence from Hakran. :: "I won't let you down." :: She shuffles off to gather up an away team from the other labs. Maryse Dubois: Her counseling duties will take priority, but she is welcome in sickbay if her schedule permits. Hakran K'hal: :: purposefully strides into the corridor and off to get prepared :: Indaura Ryssan: Actually, it's a bit dreadful that I am alone in my quarters... a lot like people are a bit on edge with all of these ships around William Chocox: +Bridge+ Some of our teams have already gotten started on their inspections. Rhan K'hal: +Will+ With all the transporter activity I didn't think they were all heading to an Elasian night club. But good to know. You coming up here to direct the exterior scans or you going to play with the big console in your fancy office? Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Cdr Jalen Stanton> Finally, as I understand it, counseling is a very different position, though all of the same confidentiality requirements apply. You will be learning more about the crew than just their medical ailments. Are you prepared to endure that level of emotional strain? Indaura Ryssan: I may have my hands full. It's not like you can't call me in for other things. VonDrake: ::pulls up the summary:: Well, fairly good. It's the "lesser of two evils", you could say...the antimatter injector. It just needs to be recalibrated. It's a 2 hour fix, so we'll probably have to wait until we have some down time. If that doesn't work, we can just replace it. We have spares. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::He nodded, looking back to his data padd and those scheduled for the task.:: I noticed that the bulk of it will fall to engineering. I should probably go down and speak with them about it. Commander Hawthorne made me promise to terrorize them once in a while. Cptn Swain: ::Lifts a brow:: Only a few Elasian women, almost all nobility, actually have the ability to use Elasian tears. Maryse Dubois: And sent. And as far as patients, you're already aware of one. Irene has shown improvements, from the reports I've seen, but she still needs some work. And since you two are already familiar with each other, I think it would work out better than someone she doesn't know. Rhan K'hal: Yes, but if there is anything hinky going on... just being your chief paranoia officer, sir. Irene Mincine: Irene> "This is *with* the Starfleet-issue gloves." :: Valdar, the Trill geologist, pokes her head out of the Jeffries tube at the mention of her name. Seeing Hakran, she disappears back into it, hoping he didn't see her as well. :: Cptn Swain: It turns out its some sort of psychotropic compound that makes an individual highly susceptible to telepathic suggestion. ::Waves a hand:: Though I am more concerned we'll have to deal with their Lord Regent or whatever. Irene Mincine: Valerie> "Lord Regent?" Cptn Swain: He's a former Starfleet officer from what I understand. But the Elasians seem to be on the up and up about this, except for the identity of the broker. Hakran K'hal: Hmm. Make a note of the problem, I'll see if I can get us upgrades. Irene Mincine: Irene> "Will do. Now, do we have a crate of mice labeled 'ferrets' in the cargo bay?" :: Irene tried her very hardest not to look in the direction of the Jeffries tube. :: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Seeing Maryse's report hit his task list, he thumbed it open to have a read at her recommendation, lifting a brow at her suggestion. The Lord Regent, however, still has considerable pull in the government and has been serving as the primary contact to the Federation while they move through the process of becoming full-fledged members of the Federation. Hakran K'hal: Anything's possible. U-P is good at building ships, not provisioning them. We had the same problem with the Copernicus. Cptn Swain: He's also one of the richest men in the Quadrant. Indaura Ryssan: I do need to get to know her better... :::thinks :: Irene Mincine: Valerie> "Interesting. Might come in handy to have him on our side." This is my first brand-new ship, so I'm not really used to things... being shiny and new, and also insufficient." VonDrake: ::thinking out loud:: Do you think it's kinda odd that we're...allowing this sale? By we I mean the Federation. I mean, it's essentially an arms deal to a party we've fought 2 wars against. Cptn Swain: You'd think universe would be a little more creative. Maryse Dubois: ::Nods.:: Just take it slow. Don't expect to fix everything right away, and you'll do fine. Rhan K'hal: ::hmms:: William Chocox: Those types of decisions are way above my paygrade. I'm just a lowly lieutenant Ensign. Irene Mincine: Valerie> :: Smirks. :: "That's why they pay you the big replicator credits, Cap." Hakran K'hal: Well, we'll get it settled, I'm sure we'll be stopping by a starbase or something of the like after this little hop. William Chocox: And besides, what can we do to stop it? Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::After a brief scan of the file, he finally stood and headed for the turbolift, hesitating only a moment as he tried to remember where they were located.:: Irene Mincine: Irene> :: She whips a pad out of her pocket and hands it over. :: "Yeah. I've drawn up a list of supplies that are missing from the configurable lab that would be nice to have." VonDrake: ::shrugs:: Isn't it part of the treaty? There had to be some sort of agreement there. I'm no expert on it, but it seems like there would be a piece on arms sales. Rhan K'hal: ::sighs audibly, flicks his ears as he's had them rotated backward to maintain the conversation the whole time, then gets up and goes over to the proper operations station:: Cptn Swain: We briefly visited Elasia once, when I was on the Pei Xiu. Lovely place. William Chocox: Possibly, but unless the order is illegal I'm not going to question it that much. Cptn Swain: Though I doubt we'll have much of an opportunity on this visit to sight see. Indaura Ryssan: I'll need profiles on everyone... what a read Hakran K'hal: ::accepts the padd:: This will be interesting to compare with the other departments. We may have all the right parts but in the wrong places. ::pauses:: That must sound horrible in your profession. Cptn Swain: ::Puts down his PADD:: Probably for the best. The sooner we have the inspections done and get the moveable feast moving to Cardassian space the better. Indaura Ryssan: Oh, I hope I have a nice replicator like that in my office. Irene Mincine: Valerie> "Haven't been out this way in years, yeah. I think I was on the Dunkirk during the war... nice place, but yeah not much sightseeing going on." Rhan K'hal: Yeah, even if the Elasians are on the up and up, there's no guarantee that someone else is unhappy about this transaction. Maryse Dubois: Hopefully they have the bugs worked out of them. Indaura Ryssan: Oh, Perhaps a nice holo-projection system...so people are comfortable... I'll have to ask engineering Rhan K'hal: Sooner we get them there, the better. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::After a short lift ride, he exited into Main Engineering and paused, completely unfamiliar with the department. He was definitely going to have to brush up on the ship layout.:: Indaura Ryssan: Did my bugs get out again? Irene Mincine: Irene> :: Lets out a chuckle. :: "Exobiology can be fun." Maryse Dubois: That might be a good idea. Maryse Dubois: And I hope not. William Chocox: ::looks over at the turbolift and sees the Commander:: (m) Mind your Ps and Qs, XO is down here. (R) Hello Commander! Hakran K'hal: ::gives it a quick once-over:: Greedy. I suppose you might actually need /some/ of these. The rest, I might need to get Rhan to grease a few palms. Cptn Swain: The Klingons aren't exactly thrilled, especially since a number of systems aboard the Elasian ships were purchased from them, and unlike our technology, didn't come with a provision requiring they be stripped before re-sell. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::He smiled at Chocox and ventured further into the depths of the ship's powerhouse.:: Ah, Chief Chocox... right? How are things down here? Rhan K'hal: ::shakes head:: Having competent bureaucrats has never been their strong suit. Cptn Swain: And, unhappy, would be a mild way to put the Romulan reaction. Which is to say nothing of the Bajorans. Cptn Swain: But I leave such things in the hands of the diplomats. Indaura Ryssan: Creatures.. I'll have to bring them there. :: a pause :: So, has medical been calibrated? Rhan K'hal: ::grunts:: I suppose this mission will be a good test of the tachyon emitters and sensors. Maryse Dubois: ::Nods:: Surgical suites were the first, in case of emergency. Most of the other systems are finishing up. Irene Mincine: Irene> :: Smiles. :: "Thank you, sir. That stuff will come in real handy. We've got the high-end lab equipment but we're missing a couple pieces of basic equipment for some reason." Cptn Swain: True, but I can understand the Cardassians wanting to defend themselves. William Chocox: I think Chief might be the title since I'm Chief Engineer, but the rank is Lieutenant. Whatever, not important, what brings you down here Commander? Cptn Swain: I know it's hard for people to trust them... ::he trailed off, he shouldn't have brought it up.:: Hakran K'hal: ::transfers the list to his own padd and hands the hardware back to Irene:: Irene Mincine: Valerie> "I wonder why." :: Sarcastically. :: VonDrake: ::spies the XO walking in:: Cptn Swain: ::He stood up and headed for the replicator Rhan K'hal: It's a hard balance, sir. We have to learn from history, but we can't forget that nothing is static in this universe. Which is far more philosophical than I want to get before lunch. Cptn Swain: ;; Good work, by the Rhan on that mix up with the cargo bays. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Cdr Jalen Stanton> Ah, is it now? Interesting. ::Eyeing Chocox, he glanced back to his data padd and made a few notations.:: So... our upcoming away teams are going to be engineering heavy. We're tasked with inspecting the Elasian ships that were sold to Cardassia to ensure that no Federation tech is aboard. Cptn Swain: It's always something, isn't it Irene Mincine: Irene> "OK, great." :: She hrmed. They were still in front of the Jeffries tube. :: "So, uh, I need to look at my... experiment... in my lab..." Rhan K'hal: ::waves a paw dismissively:: I expected things to go sideways with something along the way. William Chocox: ::blinks at the comment about his rank being interesting:: That makes sense. Do you have teams picked out? Indaura Ryssan: I will leave you to your...work. :: nods then exits :: Hakran K'hal: I believe you do know the way by now. Irene Mincine: Irene> "Would you like to see what I'm working on?" Cptn Swain: Tea, Royal Milk. Hot. Tapioca, and sweetened. Two sugars. Hakran K'hal: Oh, I wouldn't dream of interrupting you until you've settled in for the day. Irene Mincine: :: Irene smiles and wanders off toward her lab area. :: VonDrake: ::looking away, down at his console, pursing his lips at what the XO said, thinking that the distrust and need for inspection is enough to cancel the deal:: Maryse Dubois: As soon as I hear from the Commander, I'll let you know. Cptn Swain: ::Takes his cup of tea and tastes it lightly before heading to his seat again:: Rhan K'hal: I programmed your preference in, sir. You should just be able to ask for tea from now on. Hakran K'hal: ::thwacks the Jefferies tube:: You're late, Valdar. ::saunters off to the physical sciences:: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Cdr Jalen Stanton> No, I'm leaving that up to you. ::He flicked a finger over his padd.:: I just sent you the order and how many of your team we'll need. We have about forty to fifty that we'll be responsible for inspecting, so you'll be spread a bit thin here. Choose wisely. Rhan K'hal: I do have to make up for being a pain in the tail, sir. Rhan K'hal: :: grunts, checks the next beep on his padd :: We've finally got all our shopping loaded into the trunk. Maryse Dubois: ::Steps out onto the bridge.:: Oy...It's even brighter up here. Rhan K'hal: :: looks over at Maryse :: Every new class they try something new, don't they? Cptn Swain: Good. Signal all decks to ready for departure. Hakran K'hal: Well, you'll have your chance shortly. Once we're underway. I ordered you some specimens to give the equipment its first workout. Rhan K'hal: Aye. Maryse Dubois: Indeed it does. Maybe they can turn the lens flares down. ::Walks over to Rhan, but then frowns when she realizes her usual console is on the other side of the bridge.:: Irene Mincine: Val> "I think it's kinda dark, actually." :: She shrugs and taps her console. :: "Helm is ready, all flight modes available." Rhan K'hal: +Shipwide+ All decks prepare for departure. Irene Mincine: Irene> "Ooh, nice!" :: She's practically bouncing like a certain Romulan. :: "What's first on the agenda?" Cptn Swain: ACTION> Station gives clearance to leave. Hakran K'hal: Plus some rocks for the planetary scientists. I'm sure Rhan's people will love delivering those. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Glances up from his data padd at the doctor's entrance, then checks the roster again, trying to put names to faces.:: VonDrake: :::moves back to his primary console for departure:: Rhan K'hal: We are cleared for departure. Hakran K'hal: :: hands Irene a PADD :: You're the bioboss. William Chocox: ::perks up when he hears that:: You heard the ship wide folks! We're getting this tub out into space! ::goes to his own console to get ready:: Cptn Swain: Clear all moorings. Rhan K'hal: :: tap tap :: All moorings cleared, ship is clear to maneuver. Cptn Swain: ::Glances over:: Take us out Commander. Irene Mincine: Irene> :: She reads over the PADD. :: "Slime mold excretion analysis? You're joking, right?" Hakran K'hal: :: flicks an ear at the ship-wide, then grins over at Irene :: Actually, yes. Swipe to the next page. Maryse Dubois: ::Watches everything from the upper part of the bridge, near Rhan.:: This is the part that everyone likes, right? Irene Mincine: Val> :: Turns around to face the captain and commander expectantly. :: Rhan K'hal: For some reason. It's like getting excited about putting a ground unit into drive. Maryse Dubois: :;Shrugs with a smile.:: Irene Mincine: Irene> :: Hmphs and opens the next page. :: "That's better. And it involves mice instead of slime!" Indaura Ryssan: :: Watching from her office :: Hakran K'hal: And these should manage to live through it, unless the equipment is faulty. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Lifting a brow, he merely nodded and looked to helm:: Set course for Elasia. Standard warp. William Chocox: ::smiles as he hears the warp core warm up:: Irene Mincine: Val> :: Grins and turns back to her console. Hey, it wasn't a fighter, but at least she was flying something! tap tap tap :: "Aye, course locked in for Elasia, warp 6." Hakran K'hal: :: cargo handlers show up at the doors with crates of white mice that are not from an alternate dimension :: Cptn Swain: ACTION> We get some really great glory shot CGI of the Excalibur leaving dry dock complete with music. VonDrake: ::monitoring it all as things started kicking on and humming:: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Cdr Jalen Stanton> Engage. ::Doesn't do the little two finger hand movement, though.:: Irene Mincine: Irene> "Well, we'll find out pretty quickly. Might be a little messy, though..." Hakran K'hal: Which is my cue to go check on the space scientists. They get to scan Uranus. Irene Mincine: Val> :: Tap tap tap, fancy beeping noises :: "Aye." :: She presses the big ol' 'go to warp' button on the console. :: Cptn Swain: ::Smiles as they leap to warp:: Maryse Dubois: ::Steps down to the Command level once they were done.:: I hope you two are enjoying your new toy? Irene Mincine: Irene> :: Hmphs. :: "Is that the joke page or the real page?" Cptn Swain: ::Grins at Maryse:: She is nice. William Chocox: Whoo! That's the noise I love to hear! Hakran K'hal: Oh, that's the real page. :: fierce grin as he disappears through the doors into the corridor :: VonDrake: :::monitors the transition into warp:: Cptn Swain: Though I am looking forward to the seeing Georgetown one last time. She was the first ship I ever served aboard. Rhan K'hal: :: holsters his padd and uses the consoles since he has a lot of things to monitor :: Maryse Dubois: That's good. I can't complain on my end either, though we are short on key staff. A counselor to be more specific. ::Nods.:: Ah, a little reminiscent? Irene Mincine: Irene> "Have fun." :: As he leaves. Irene is alone in her lab, feeling right at home. :: Cptn Swain: They're decommissioning her, along with a lot of the other remaining Excelsiors. Irene Mincine: Val> "Readings are nominal. Looks like our first trip to warp's a success." :: Relaxes in her seat. :: Hakran K'hal: :: heads down a few doors into "his" lab, though it's still Kenet's territory technically, as the Bajoran woman made the jump with him :: So, how does Uranus look? Rhan K'hal: System resource usage is nominal. Maryse Dubois: I'm sure they've earned it. Considering that line has been around for quite a while. Hakran K'hal: Kenet> :: glares at Hak :: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::He glanced to Swain briefly, then to Maryse.:: Doctor Dubois. Do you have any recommendations for a counselor? I have several applicants for you to review. Irene Mincine: Irene> :: Irene's having fun performing some kind of experiment involving lots of white mice, it seems. :: Cptn Swain: ACTION> One of the new operations crew messages Rhan to inform him there's been some sort of mix up in the cargo bay. Maryse Dubois: ::Nods to Stanton.:: I do actually, but with your permission, I would like to try looking "in house" first, so to speak. That is if she is willing. Rhan K'hal: :: frowns, opens audio communication :: +Callahan+ What sort of mix up, Mr. Callahan? Cptn Swain: ::Swain made a gesturing signaling his deference. :: VonDrake: ::looking over the data:: The jump to warp was clean, sir. There is room for some optimization, the pressure in the dilithium chamber is about .0001 millibars off optimum. Slows the engagement process by about .00125 seconds. It's nothing critical or that can't be worked next time we're idle. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Cdr Jalen Stanton> Of course. That's your prerogative. If you need assistance, let me know. I'll forward you the other candidates anyhow. Your choice will need to be cleared first before we can reassign. William Chocox: Very good. Do you think this is something that will get worse with time? Irene Mincine: Val> :: Proudly makes a note in her log that the course she plotted is 3% more efficient than the finest computer Starfleet can build. :: Maryse Dubois: Understood. ::Heads back up to the upper level.:: Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go break the bad news. :;Smirks.:: Cptn Swain: ::Glances around to make sure he knew where the replicator was and heads over:: Cptn Swain: ::Nods to Maryse as she goes:: Maryse Dubois: :;Waves to Rhan as she gets back onto the lift.:: Rhan K'hal: :: gives a distracted wave back as he listens to the halting explanation :: Cptn Swain: Tea, Oolong. Hot. Hakran K'hal: :: looks over the work, noting the enhanced multi-spectral resolutions :: Excellent. Stick closely to the schedule, Izal. We know what the Captain expects, but the XO strikes me as task-master and I'd prefer to start off on a good footing. Cptn Swain: ::Sniffs the tea, and then cautiously takes a drink:: Cptn Swain: Still not as good as the real thing. But not bad. Maryse Dubois: ::Steps back into Sickbay, searching.:: Indaura Ryssan: (I give tonight) Maryse Dubois: Now where is she? Rhan K'hal: +Callahan+ :: nearly growling :: Unless you'd like to put on a space suit and drag it out of the bay doors into the *other* bay while we're at warp, I'd suggest you come up with a solution as to how to stow them in their proper places and execute it within 3 hours. Rhan K'hal: +C+ K'hal, OUT. Indaura Ryssan: :: Not used to such new equipment :: Cptn Swain: What's our ETA to rendezvous with the Georgetown? Maryse Dubois: :;Enter's the doctor's office.:: Ah there you are. Hakran K'hal: Kenet> :: waves a dismissive hand :: We could do this blindfolded. VonDrake: ::purses lips:: Possibly, if it is a problem with one of the antimatter injection seals, the pressure could compound with each jump. If it is the injection system, then it might stay pretty static. We'll need to run a Level 4 diagnostic to find out. Irene Mincine: Val> "At warp 6, 16 hours, captain." Hakran K'hal: Just don't tell HIM that. Maryse Dubois: Dr. Ryssan, can you meet me in what is supposed to be my office? ::grins.:: William Chocox: Can you do the diagnostic at warp? Hakran K'hal: :: heads out to go check on the planetary scientists and their selection of rocks :: Maryse Dubois: ::Goes to her office and sits on the desk, since there is no furniture.:: Indaura Ryssan: Sure thing Doctor. :: goes to her office :: Rhan K'hal: :: resumes monitoring systems while simultaneously using benchmarking subroutines to test the computer under "duress" while operating at warp :: Indaura Ryssan: No chair? Cptn Swain: ::Nods:: Good. I'll be in my ready room. Commander, I'd like a senior staff meeting at 1400 to discuss our orders, as well as the latest from Intelligence. Maryse Dubois: Sorry I seem to be lacking chairs, so just relax if you can. Cptn Swain: You have the conn. VonDrake: ::shakes his head:: Not a Level 4. I would need the system offline for at least 2 hours... I might be able to run a Level 2 diagnostic right at the next point we go to warp, it might be able to pinpoint the inefficiency that way. Maryse Dubois: Sooo....::Rests her hands in her lap.:: How would you like your own office? Indaura Ryssan: :: Leans against a wall :": Maryse Dubois: And I mean big office, not one you share with other doctors. William Chocox: Please, because I don't think we have time to take the system offline for that long. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Cdr Jalen Stanton> Aye, sir. ::Curt nod.:: Irene Mincine: Val> :: When underway, Val is focused intently on the helm, even if she doesn't have much to do at warp. She's deadly serious here. :: Indaura Ryssan: Oh.. Who's place was I in? Guess I thought I ran the place Indaura Ryssan: Quiet would be great with filing paperwork VonDrake: ::nods:: Aye sir. ::walks over to the diagnostic console and sets up a Level 2 diagnostic to trigger during the next warp cycle:: Indaura Ryssan: This has the room? Maryse Dubois: Well...don't give me an answer just yet, but we are short a ship's counselor. And I happen to think you would be great for the job. Rhan K'hal: :: flicks through results using both paws, eyes flicking from right to left as he goes into hyper-Rhan mode, all without extra coffee :: Cptn Swain: ::Exits into his new ready room.:: William Chocox: Thank you Ensign. William Chocox: So...have you found any good hiding places to keep secret projects away from the Commander's prying eyes? Cptn Swain: ...and... Hakran K'hal: :: satisfied with his people's performance, has a chance to gripe, muttering as he leaves the planetary sciences group :: What idiot decided that putting my office on deck 9 was a good idea? Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Cdr Jalen Stanton> ::Thumbing through security footage of engineering:: VonDrake: ::eyebrows raise:: Well... Cptn Swain: PAUSE SIM Cptn Swain: PAUSE SIM Cptn Swain: PAUSE SIM
  10. "He seems nice enough." "He is nice. He's a good captain," she insisted. "Then why leave? Why didn't you wait to be reassigned to a new ship?" Miranda sighed and swirled her drink in her glass. "It's complicated. He... he's made several mistakes lately. I've had a very difficult time forgiving him." "What sort of mistakes? What's so unforgivable?" "Nothing horrible. He didn't murder anyone, or anything like that. He's just been selfish. He put his own agenda before the ship's, before his crew's. He abandoned us and was damned lucky he didn't get thrown out of Starfleet because of it. We had to pull him out of the fire more than once. Every time I looked at his stupid face, I just wanted to punch it. That, and I got tired of babysitting." "Isn't that the job of an Executive Officer?" He laughed. She grinned despite her sour mood. "Most of it, yes. Babysitting the captain and all the rest of the crew, as well. It never ends." "Sounds like you made a good move for yourself. Get a bit of a break. Stop babysitting crew and start babysitting ships instead." "Yeah, I guess." She finished off her drink and set it on the table. "It's more the crew I'm missing right now. That and the chance to put the new ship through her paces. The Luna is such an amazing upgrade. I've already been all over her systems." "Always the engineer." She nodded. "Can't help it. Just like you can't stop being thick-headed phaser fodder." "Hey! Someone has to protect you delicate types. I'm looking forward to drilling the hell out of the crew. Security is always so lax on these exploratory missions." "Swain is going to hate that." She paused and grinned wickedly. "Do it as often as possible." He laughed again. "Done." Throwing a glance at the wall chrono, he sighed. "Time for me to get to the ship. Thought I'd get settled in early and see what mayhem I could cause." "Be careful out there, Jalen. I know it's been eight years since the accident, and you've gotten your feet wet again on the Cherokee, but deep space is another animal entirely. Nothing ever goes according to plan." "I know. I read through the Excalibur's records. She's... ah... got quite a history. Part of the reason why I requested the assignment after you'd declined." "I know, and I put in a good word for you. I was hoping they'd give you a shot." "Thanks. It means a lot to me." He took her hand and pulled her close, brushing the hair from her face as he captured her gaze. Their lips brushed in the softest whisper of a kiss. "It was good seeing you again," he murmured softly. As he drew away, she scoffed. "I hope it was a fair sight better than just 'good', Jalen." The blonde commander grinned. "Well, I didn't want to sound too cheesy. I'm supposed to be one of those strong, emotionless meat-head types, remember? Wouldn't want the girls hearing me spout poetry. Bad for my reputation." "Good luck with that. Another word of warning, if you catch Swain staring at you with a dreamy look in his eyes, he's probably debating the morality of seducing his first officer and cheating on his husband. Maybe use that to your advantage." "Always have and always will. No one can withstand the raw animal magnetism of Jalen Isaac Stanton." He smacked himself on the butt. She chucked a pillow at his head, which he ducked effortlessly. "Get out. I draw the line at people who refer to themselves in the third person." "Jalen takes offense to that and says you will miss him terribly." "Jalen has an overinflated ego and an overly high opinion of himself. He's also going to get his butt kicked if he doesn't get going." "See you when I get back?" "I'll be here," she promised. Send me some updates in the meantime. "I want to hear how you're getting on. And take care of my engineers, will you? Every once in a while they need their XO down in the pits making sure they don't blow up the ship." "I'll see what I can do."
  11. MISSION BRIEF: It's been over a month since the Excalibur was formally decommissioned. Many of the crew have gone their own way seeking other assignment or moved on from Starfleet altogether. Curiously, the core of the old senior staff have found themselves rounded up in a conference room on Mars, but with no other orders. No one has seen either of their former command team in weeks either. Cptn Swain: BEGIN SIM Cptn Swain: BEGIN SIM Cptn Swain: BEGIN SIM William Chocox: ::is in sitting in a conference room on Mars:: Rhan K'hal: :: finds himself rounded up with the old gang in a conference room on Mars :: Hakran K'hal: :: ditto :: Rhan K'hal: Did you get a tan, Will? Maryse Dubois: ::Her transport had just recently arrived. She is just entering the conference room. Smiles when she sees familiar faces.:: William Chocox: Just a farmer's tan. It's amazing what living on a planet will do to you. VonDrake: ::is on Mars, not quite sure how he got here, hopes he didn't switch universes from Star Trek to Total Recall::: Irene Mincine: :: Irene's sitting next to Hak. She definitely *is* sporting a tan, and her black hair is in a slightly different style than her typical ponytail, too. Her blue uniform is nice and clean. :: "Are they sending us to temporal jail?" Rhan K'hal: Farmer's tan. Somehow I can't imagine you digging for organics. Rhan K'hal: :: glances over and sees Maryse enter, gives her the full 100 W grin :: William Chocox: Just a saying from when you get tan because you've been outside wearing clothes. Hakran K'hal: I dunno, ask me tomorrow. Maryse Dubois: ::Gives a slight wave and then sits over by Rhan.:: Hi stranger. William Chocox: How's your month been? Hello Doctor. Rhan K'hal: Heya. This is an unexpected pleasure. :: head nods at Irene :: Unless we're all going to temporal jail. Indaura Ryssan: :: Enters the conference room with much longer hair and quite curly :: Rhan K'hal: My month has been busy, keeping 39 Tango going on beta shift. William Chocox: Fun. Rhan K'hal: So no tan for me. Irene Mincine: "It's nice to see everyone here again, jail or no jail." :: She plays with some of the hair strands falling down over her ear. :: VonDrake: ::meanders in to the conference room to see the group:: Hakran K'hal: :: looks Irene over :: You look... vital. Maryse Dubois: Oh? Who got tans? ::Looking around.:: I've been on a hospital ship the last couple of weeks. William Chocox: ::ponders, but decides against asking if Caitians can get tans due to possible cultural insensitivity:: Irene Mincine: :: Irene smiled to Maryse after her question. :: "I spent the last week or so on Proxima visiting my parents. Lots of sun this time of year and a short trip to Mars, thankfully." Rhan K'hal: :: head nods at Will :: From planting ODN conduits, apparently. Maryse Dubois: Well you certain look better than how I left you. William Chocox: Walking to and from my apartment to my office in Starfleet's Theoretical Engineering Department in San Francisco and talking walks at Lunch. Cptn Swain: ACTION> A yeoman drops by, bringing them water and basically airline snacks. Indaura Ryssan: :: Walks up to Doctor Dubois :: Good to see you. Maryse Dubois: ::Smiles at Indaura.:: You too. Did you go see family? Hakran K'hal: Oh, doing time on the hills. You could probably model tights now. VonDrake: ::grabs a water, recalling a much nicer spread the last time this group was in a room together:: Maryse Dubois: ::Offers the seat next to her.:: Rhan K'hal: :: gives a friendly wave at Ryan :: Howsit, Ensign? Irene Mincine: "I had lots of time off, they stuck a fresh kidney in me to replace the one I lost, I got lots of help..." :: Quietly. :: "Had some fun with another ex-Excalibur scientist..." :: She grabs a pack of peanuts and a can of peach water. :: Hakran K'hal: :: smirks :: Guess you didn't need Rhan's help, just like you said. Indaura Ryssan: I did indeed, and got my hair extended. Thought a change was in order. Indaura Ryssan: All of my husbands are as...annoying as ever. Maryse Dubois: It looks good on you VonDrake: ::hears Rhan just as he takes a bite of his biscotti cookie, turns around and washes it down with a quick sip of water:: Good, good. ::looks around at the old Excalibur crew:: Good to be back. You? Indaura Ryssan: Sadly not regulation, so I'll have to fix that as I go. Irene Mincine: :: She shook her head. :: "Nope. Trill, not Caitian." :: Irene munches on some peanuts. :: "Starfleet chefs are really going downhill." Rhan K'hal: Curious as to why we're here, but otherwise same excrement, different day. Indaura Ryssan: My family has grown by two since I last saw everyone... that makes. :: thinks :: Seventeen now? Rhan K'hal: :: Indaura : I can see why you'd sign up for extended tours. Maryse Dubois: Well I already had Temporal Investigations knock on my door, so it surely couldn't be them again. William Chocox: Same...was interesting trying to hide it from my boss. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::The conference room doors opened and Miranda entered with a tall, blonde-haired commander in tow. She was looking far more relaxed than when they last saw her and was actually -smiling- as she saw they were all in attendance.:: Fancy meeting you here... Irene Mincine: :: Irene nodded. :: "Yeah, they hit me up, too. They were pretty interested in my research on the temporal lube, even after I told them it didn't really work. Couldn't stop them from taking a blood sample, jerks." Indaura Ryssan: :: to K'hal :: And we all live in one large house. Our arrangements would drive many species insane. William Chocox: ::blinks and leans toward Rhan:: (w) She's smiling, why is she smiling? I don't like it. Indaura Ryssan: :: to Chocox :: Is that not small? Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Mincine. You're looking well. ::She glanced at the others, still smiling.:: The rest of you, as well. I take it that everyone has been enjoying the past month off doing different things? Indaura Ryssan: I never thought about is since land is so valuable on my homeworld Maryse Dubois: I wouldn't go that far, but it was an interesting change of pace. Irene Mincine: "Time off, vacationing, the occasional xenobiology shift on the starbase to keep me from going crazy, you know." :: Irene grabbed another can of peach water. :: Indaura Ryssan: So what's this all about? William Chocox: ::mouths No before turning back to Commander Hawthorne:: It's...been professionally boring, but personally exhilarating. Maryse Dubois: ::Notices the blonde haired Commander.:: Are introductions in order? Rhan K'hal: I also believe introductions are in order. Rhan K'hal: Echo echo echo. Maryse Dubois: ::Grins.:: VonDrake: ::wonders if introductions are in order:: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She eyed Chocox.:: Theoretical engineering, I heard. ::Glancing to the commander, she gestured.:: Of course. Forgive me. This is Commander Jalen Stanton. ::The blond man nodded politely.:: We just popped over from the shipyards. William Chocox: That's where I wanted to be if I got assigned anywhere, but apparently I blow too many things up. Maryse Dubois: ::Looks to Rhan when she said shipyards.:: Irene Mincine: :: Irene ate some more airline peanuts. :: "Shipyards?" Rhan K'hal: Shipyards, huh? I don't suppose you've been building us a dash-D? Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: You should have contacted me, Chocox. I would have pulled some strings. I took an open posting at UT, deciding I'd rather be building new ships than patching up the ones we've broken time and again. VonDrake: ::kinda likes fixing the broken ones, himself:: William Chocox: I'll remember that for next time. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She quirked an eyebrow at Rhan, though her lips twitched in amusement.:: As far as I am aware, no other Enterprises have been placed into service. Indaura Ryssan: A medical ship? Irene Mincine: "I don't think they would have called us all here if they wanted to tell us about their new medical ship." William Chocox: It's also a bit early for a crew reunion. Rhan K'hal: Oh, I dunno Will. Every 30 days for until the last one of us clocks out for the last time? Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: You do know that the Temporal division has an office here, don't you? Maryse Dubois: Which I've already spoken to. Irene Mincine: :: Irene nods. :: "They already talked to just about all of us, I think." Rhan K'hal: They're everywhere to make sure we don't go everywhen. Or so the unofficial motto goes. Cptn Swain: ::Makes, an entrance:: Indaura Ryssan: I heard the temporal division office here keeps variable hours? Rhan K'hal: :: looks over again, smiles as Swain sashays in :: William Chocox: My boss was also very hard to keep in the dark about the Temporal people. Cptn Swain: ::Swain had his hair pulled back in a braid and his beard freshly trimmed. He seemed, almost pleased to see everyone in the room.:: Irene Mincine: :: Irene's astonished to see the total reunion of the senior staff now. :: "Captain!" William Chocox: Captain on deck...wait, is that still a thing since we're just in a conference room? Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Miranda moved to lean against the wall as Swain entered, her smile mysteriously disappearing. The handsome commander trailing after her stood casually with his hands behind his back, looking over Asher with interest. He threw Miranda a glance and she nodded slightly.:: Rhan K'hal: "Captain on miscellaneous flooring" doesn't sound as snappy. Maryse Dubois: The final piece to our merry band has arrived. You look well Captain. Rhan K'hal: Did everyone get to a stylist except the merry brothers K'hal? William Chocox: ::his hair is the same style, but looks recently cut:: Hakran K'hal: Watch who you're calling merry. Good to see you, Captain. VonDrake: ::notes the obvious change in demeanor in the Commander when the Captain walked in:: Cptn Swain: ::He looked over, surprised to see Miranda... and the handsome commander next to her.:: Good afternoon. I am glad all of you were able to make it. William Chocox: Do you know why we're here? Rhan K'hal: The question is: make what? Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Miranda and Commander Stanton both nodded in greeting to Swain.:: Irene Mincine: "Make our appointment with the finest snacks on a Federation short-range shuttlecraft." :: She eats a stale cookie. :: William Chocox: Can't have peanuts so I'll take your word for it. Cptn Swain: So, I have some news. Cptn Swain: And I wanted to share it with all of you. William Chocox: ::leans back in his chair and crosses his arms:: Irene Mincine: :: Irene has a whole lot of terrible jokes here, but she stays silent for the sake of her career. :: Rhan K'hal: :: perks ears up in Swain's direction in a silent "I'm all ears" display :: VonDrake: ::stops crunching on his biscotti:: Cptn Swain: After some conversation Starfleet, I have secured a new ship. Hakran K'hal: :: waits patiently and attentively, as usual :: William Chocox: Congratulations. Cptn Swain: The USS Enceladus, a new Luna-class ship due to be launched in a few weeks. Rhan K'hal: Ah, the Science Salad. I knew that one was coming up, thought it was spoken for though. Cptn Swain: Well. A few people owe me favors; I am hoping most of you will want to join me aboard. But before you do, there's one more thing. William Chocox: ((Like the U.S.S. Titan novels?)) William Chocox: ::blinks:: Rhan K'hal: (( the very same )) William Chocox: ((Just making sure.)) Irene Mincine: "One more thing?" :: Irene's excited enough about Swain getting a ship again. :: VonDrake: ::thinks "there's always a catch":: William Chocox: ::feels like he's watching an old crime procedural:: Cptn Swain: It took some... doing... but after chatting with a former commander of the Excalibur, Admiral Day, he was able to pull a few strings and... well instead of the Enceladus, she is going to be formally be commissioned as the USS Excalibur. Hakran K'hal: :: while waiting for the catch, is enjoying the irony of a ship named after a moon named after a mythological giant that was the enemy of wisdom :: William Chocox: Dash D? Irene Mincine: :: Irene was astonished at that. :: "You... what? You mean I don't have to print new business cards?" Cptn Swain: There is one catch, though, they've decided to give her a new registry number, so no E-D. William Chocox: Ah, I see. Rhan K'hal: Probably a good idea, see if the bad luck was attached to the number. Maryse Dubois: ::Smirks.:: Hakran K'hal: :: backs up the irony truck at the news :: Cptn Swain: So. I know a lot of you have just started new lives, but I wanted to give you the opportunity to serve aboard the Excalibur again. Rhan K'hal: A chance to get my paws on that state of the art computer? I was in at "Luna Class" Maryse Dubois: ::Shrugs.:: My work was only temporary anyways. But I will have to see the medical facilities before my decision is concrete. William Chocox: As long as I can get away from Theoretical Engineering I'll be glad...though I will need to talk to...sorry, almost revealed that I'm capable of having a personal life. Rhan K'hal: :: chuckles :: Irene Mincine: :: Irene grins! :: "I'm in. I can't wait to see the new science labs. Not like I had anything else going on since the last ship got turned into a cube." William Chocox: Is the crew all picked out? Cptn Swain: Good, I am happy, ::He glanced to Miranda:: Cptn Swain: Mostly, I was waiting to hear from most of you before filling some of the last roles. Hakran K'hal: :: glances at Irene :: I suppose you'll need a boss that understands your... methods. VonDrake: :::nods:: I'm in. Indaura Ryssan: I have some medical experience. William Chocox: How sturdy is the EPS system? Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: I do hope you all decide to rejoin the Excalibur. We've just given the Luna her last round of testing and she really is a marvelous ship. ::Miranda added.:: Commander Stanton has just been assigned as the Executive Officer of the Enceladus / Excalibur. I offered to give him the preliminary introductions so he can get to know you all better. 13. SD 1013.2019 It's been over a month since the Excalibur was formally decommissioned. Many of the crew have gone their own way seeking other assignment or moved on from Starfleet altogether. Curiously, the core of the old senior staff have found themselves rounded up in a conference room on Mars, but with no other orders. No one has seen either of their former command team in weeks, either.

Though speaking of Rhan, he knows the station pretty well, he might be able to make you an introduction if it's that big of an itch. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She took a sip of her drink, frowning.:: I would be honored, but... I've already requested reassignment to the fleet yards at Utopia Planitia. I was offered a command position in their engineering department, and I think I want to get back to do hands on work. At least for the interim. Maryse Dubois: ::Nods.:: I totally understand. But I don't know if I'm ready to give up on a field assignment, not so quickly. VonDrake: ::looks at William:: What's in the cards for you? William Chocox: I have no clue...I need to learn how to make friends though. I fear I'm going to become a station monkey. Cptn Swain: When do you leave? Rhan K'hal: I imagine if you put your name on the free agent list, you could choose the cream of the crop. With your kind of experience. Honestly, if you were more interested in command, 'Fleet would be offering you an XO position on a hospital ship. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: It will be nice to not be in danger of exploding on every mission. ::She sighed and glanced back to the window.:: Day after tomorrow. I'm hitching a ride with the Rialto. Cptn Swain: ::He left it unsaid, but he assumed that meant she'd asked for the reassignment even before they'd learned about decision.:: Hakran K'hal: I'll have to think about it. I'm not sure why I haven't, I wasn't exactly expecting any other news than what we heard. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: I was just waiting on the official word. Cptn Swain: ::He nodded:: I can understand that. Let's have dinner then tonight. Irene Mincine: :: Irene shrugged. :: "I can't imagine I'm an officer in high demand, other than the scarcity of exobiologists." Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Sure, one last time. ::She glanced back to him, a tinge of regret in her eyes.:: Hakran K'hal: Well, if I do finagle a spot I'll see if I can shoehorn you in. Though I'm not exactly high on the ladder. Though I suppose I could pull a Rhan and use family connections, but I hate doing that. Maryse Dubois: ::Grins.:: Hah...I would end up being a pain in the ass. ::Shrugs:: But I don't quite think they are ready for me yet. Indaura Ryssan: :; More cheese :: VonDrake: ::shrugs:: Nothing wrong with that. Station work is admirable Irene Mincine: :: Irene hrmed. :: "I have some family connections too, if you can't find anything. Indaura Ryssan: :: drinks :: Rhan K'hal: :: grins :: You'd probably hate it anyway, means even more paperwork and less patient time. William Chocox: No, not at all. I might have to like, "make friends" or "go on dates". Indaura Ryssan: The holodecks on the station can provide any water-based shower you need... a massage if you need it as well. Indaura Ryssan: This ship is hard for me as well. Maryse Dubois: ::Gives a playful shudder.:: Sounds awful. William Chocox: I've never been too much of a people person outside of work. Maryse Dubois: That's understandable. Hakran K'hal: Should I quote you on that the next time I see Rhan, Irene? Irene Mincine: "Don't you dare." Maryse Dubois: I've already had two stubborn patients that I had to lecture. Ready to transfer? VonDrake: ::kicks his duffel:: Aye. William Chocox: Aye ma'am. Irene Mincine: :: She sees the nag on her padd. :: "I'm going, I'm going!" :: She connected a cable to her padd, which immediately shorts out. She yanks the cable out. :: "Dammit." :: She leaves her quarters with her duffel bag, and ran down to sickbay, yelling to the first person she sees across the room. :: "Hey, can I use your P-9 data plug? The one in my quarters isn't working and I need to upload my personal files before I go." Maryse Dubois: :;Nods.:: That is good. They may give us the transfer orders soon. Rhan K'hal: Depends on how much time they give us. If I have enough time to chase down my sister and pester her while she's delicately brushing dirt off things, I'll do that. Otherwise, I may see if there's a tech conference somewhere nearby. Irene Mincine: "Yer gonna blow that thing up even worse if you keep doing that." :: Said Carillon deadpan as Rhan thrashed his console. :: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Good. Well, I should get back up to the bridge. You'll get your orders soon enough. Just do what you can to pack up anything that isn't essential. Cptn Swain: Seems odd going on leave again so soon.. :smirks:: You know since we were only gone a few minutes. William Chocox: Aye ma'am. Maryse Dubois: ::A startled nurse points to a nearby plug .:: Rhan K'hal: :: chuckles at the Captain as his console lights back up :: Felt like about 100 years though. VonDrake: ::nods:: Aye ma'am Rhan K'hal: :: Val :: It only has to last the rest of the day, Lieutenant. Cptn Swain: I don't Arden will want to do. He probably can't leave again so soon. I should call him before we leave on the Monte Blanc. Irene Mincine: Irene> "Thanks! I think I was supposed to be off the ship 20 minutes ago." :: She plugged her padd into the data port. It'd be a few minutes for it to upload given how broken the computer was. She sat it down on a table and leaned back against the scorched wall. :: "I'm never going to hear the end of it from the XO..." Rhan K'hal: At least I don't have to route it through six places this time. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Giving them a nod, she headed for the turbolift and up to the bridge.:: Rhan K'hal: :: notes Irene is still on board, gives her the audio of a bunch of people shouting "get on with it!" from an old movie :: Maryse Dubois: ::Coming out from the back, bag over her shoulder. Indaura wasn't far behind.:: The end of what? Hakran K'hal: :: with his bag finally packed, he sent it off with one of the last science team to head out, then makes his way to the bridge :: VonDrake: ::goes back to what he was doing, speaking to William:: Are the stories and rumors true? You know, about the temporal police? Irene Mincine: "Not being off the ship." :: She pointed at her padd, which was almost done uploading her personal files, and blasting nag messages too. :: "Scientists are the first group off and I'm in the first group of scientists." Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She stepped out onto the bridge and slowly walked to the engineering console, making a few inquiries.:: William Chocox: I don't know for sure. I've heard the same though. I guess we might find out depending on who knows what. Rhan K'hal: :: clears with the Mont Blanc, and starts the offloading of about half of medical and half administrative command personnel, along with some of the quartermasters staff :: Cptn Swain: ::Glances over:: How's things in engineering? Hakran K'hal: :: pops out onto the bridge about a minute after Miranda :: Maryse Dubois: Ah. You should head out then. Rhan doesn't like it when people put him behind schedule. ::Holds up a PADD.:: I keep copies of everything by the way. :;Smiles.:: VonDrake: ::starts instinctively going through all his interactions with people from the past, which wasn't much if any:: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Dire. ::She called over her shoulder.:: It's going to take a lot to put her back together. Rhan K'hal: :: sends Irene the ""I'm late, I'm late, I'm late" bit from Alice in Wonderland now :: Cptn Swain: She'll be in good hands. The Captain of the Abanaki is an old friend. Maryse Dubois: ::Grins:: You better hurry, before he starts sending the "Off with her head" sound files. William Chocox: I'm just glad I was able to get all of our tricorders back from those miscreants. Hakran K'hal: :: sighs :: Starfleet can put it on my tab I suppose. Irene Mincine: :: Irene yanked her PADD, which was finally done uploading, out of the connector. :: "I'm going!" :: She scoffed and let out a few choice Klingon curses. :: "Where does he even store all of them?" :: She picked up her duffel bag and left sickbay for the transporters. :: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: I'm sure, but it feels like we're abandoning her after everything she's put up with. I don't like it. Cptn Swain: ::He nodded:: I agree. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: (( Have you actually done a count, Chocox? )) Cptn Swain: Something doesn't feel right about it. William Chocox: ((I'd like to think so.)) Cptn Swain: ::He sighed and took another sip of tea:: But orders are orders. VonDrake: ::nods:: I think they are all accounted for. William Chocox: That'd be embarrassing if they weren't. Rhan K'hal: :: loads up a "AND STAY OUT!" to play automatically for Irene just as she transports :: Maryse Dubois: ::Turns to Indaura.:: You better go too. Medical was next on the list, but I'll be staying till Senior staff is ready to go. ::Gives Indaura a special PADD.:: This is for the Mont Blanc CMO, and their Counselor. I want them to start Irene's treatment when the time is right. VonDrake: ::shrugs:: Maybe, if tricorder technology is 200 years more advanced, than what we're used to, we'll know why. Cptn Swain: I told the Admiral that we'd be the most qualified to do the pre-work in transit, but Command wanted to get us back to base quicker to debrief. I am sure I will have several appointments with the Temporal Security department. Irene Mincine: :: Irene materialized on the Mont Blanc, hopping mad on the other side at the aural assault she has just experienced. :: Cptn Swain: Which reminds me. Everyone will need to file reports on our little jaunt. Indaura Ryssan: :: Following Dubois :: Rhan K'hal: Mine's already on file, I just have to hit send. William Chocox: ::shudders:: I don't want to think about it. Cptn Swain: That should give them something to do on the way home. Rhan K'hal: I'm sure the Mont Blanc's bartender will appreciate not having the whole Excalibur crew to serve all day until we get to Tango. Irene Mincine: Val> "Not like there's much flying to do right now." :: She starts typing away on her padd. :: "They've already got the flight deck locked down, too." Maryse Dubois: ::Smiles at Indaura.:: Make sure they take care of her. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: I'll make sure to get word to the crew on the importance of those reports -- and how they need to be extremely accurate. Indaura Ryssan: I'll get it to them Doctor. VonDrake: ::looks around:: Well, everything is pretty much done for now down here Indaura Ryssan: I'll check in when i can. Rhan K'hal: I'll be sure to yell "look out!" if we're about to run over something at 2 mm per second. Maryse Dubois: ::Nods.:: See you soon enough. Cptn Swain: ::Nods:: Please do. If temporal thinks we're trying to hide something, they'll drag the inquest out even longer. Hakran K'hal: :: sits rather forlornly at the powered off science 1, following the conversation(s) only with his ears :: Maryse Dubois: ::Parts ways and heads up to the bridge.:: Indaura Ryssan: :: Goes to head to the Mont Blanc :: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ACTION> Engineering receives their orders to transfer to the Mont Blanc and report to their newly assigned quarters. Rhan K'hal: Thankfully the bridge log hasn't been able to capture audio since the original explosion, so they won't be able to jump down our throats over a misquote. Irene Mincine: Val> "Gotcha." :: Not looking up from the padd. :: "Shame they didn't shell out for the fake eye that lets me watch the console and my padd at the same time." William Chocox: ::looks at the orders:: Come on Ensign ::grabs his bags with a slight grunt of pain:: Maryse Dubois: ::Enters the bridge, setting her bag near the lift.:: VonDrake: ::hears the summons, reaches under the console for his duffel:: You still haven't been to medical for that finger? William Chocox: I've been too busy. Rhan K'hal: :: looks over the offloading process, and sees no screaming from the Mont Blanc :: William Chocox: Not like it's life threatening. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Glances up and gives Maryse a nod.:: Doctor. Rhan K'hal: :: looks over and smiles at Maryse :: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Everything alright in your department? Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: (( I just realized how terrifying a Caitian smile might be. )) VonDrake: ::nods:: Fair enough. ::starts moving for the door:: It'll set funny if you don't do anything soon. My uncle did the same thing and his middle finger on his left hand is about 10 degrees off at the second knuckle. Cptn Swain: (( Khajit has pearly whites )) Rhan K'hal: (( it's the grin that'd probably have the hair on the back of your neck standing up )) William Chocox: I'll get it looked at on the Monte Blanc. VonDrake: ::enters the TL and waits in front of the door for William:: William Chocox: ::steps through:: Maryse Dubois: ::Smiles and nods.:: Everyone has packed up and moving out. Hakran K'hal: :: gets a blip on his padd, clears throat just to get it out :: All of science, sans myself, is confirmed aboard the Mont Blanc. VonDrake: ::steps in himself and the TL starts moving:: Cptn Swain: You know when I first got this command four years ago. ::He paused:: Has it been that long? Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Seems longer. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Half joking.:: Maryse Dubois: ::Looks to Rhan.:: Nice touch with the voice messages by the way. You finally got Mincine moving. Cptn Swain: ::He smirked:: It does, doesn't it. Rhan K'hal: :: now does the grin :: I thought she might need them, and I didn't want Hak to have to move her along. Indaura Ryssan: :: Now over on the Mont Blanc :: Cptn Swain: I just never imagined that I'd feel this way about leaving the old lady behind. ::He finished his tea:: Hopefully it's not for long. Rhan K'hal: I've got a few special ones saved up for some of the flight crew. They don't want to leave their babies. VonDrake: ::steps off:: It'll be nice to have a functioning replicator. I could use some decent coffee. Irene Mincine: :: Somewhere on the Mont Blanc, a belated sound notification arrives on Irene's padd. She screams in her guest quarters. :: Irene Mincine: Val> "Permission to destroy the ops officer's padd, sir?" :: She looks expectantly to whoever's in charge on the bridge. Cptn Swain: Not till everyone's off loaded VonDrake: ::makes it to the Mont Blanc, whether it's by transport or dock, or whatever:: Maryse Dubois: It won't do any good. Everyone knows he has backups Cptn Swain: Then I expect to see that thing floating in space. I want everyone to take easy while we're in transit. Rhan K'hal: Oh don't worry, once they're over there, they're not my responsibility. Rhan K'hal: I'm just making sure they GET over there. Cptn Swain: ::He glanced to Miranda, leaving unsaid that went for her too.:: Cptn Swain: (( Three Minute Warning )) Irene Mincine: Val> :: Grins. :: "Understood." Maryse Dubois: :;Smiles.:: Maybe we can schedule some holodeck time. Been a while since we had a working one of those. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Her return look said 'not likely'. There were miles of reports to file.:: VonDrake: ::looks at his PADD to know where he is going, small scowl:: I'm bunking with an Ensign O'Malley. Rhan K'hal: I pity the Mont Blanc's ops, trying to run the schedule on their holodecks. Indaura Ryssan: :: Goes to Mont Blanc's sickbay :: VonDrake: ::heads over towards the TL on the Mont Blank:: I wonder if he has a good replicator recipe for coffee. Something Jamaican, no, Puerto Rican... Maryse Dubois: I do have that hot springs program saved. You know, the one from our last botched mission. :;grins.:: Rhan K'hal: And their rec room, and their lounges... at least we got picked up by one of the cruise ships. William Chocox: The best recipe at all is to have real beans. Irene Mincine: Val> "We'd better, you know, make sure all our fighters still work after we offload them..." :: Looking wistfully at the ceiling. :: William Chocox: Or leaves if you drink tea like me. VonDrake: ::nods:: For sure. I'm not big on tea, which his odd for someone from the Falklands like me. Rhan K'hal: :: checks his board :: A few more offloads to go. William Chocox: The Falklands huh? Is it still desolate and windswept? Cptn Swain: How is the .. ::he paused:: evacuation going? Rhan K'hal: :: whispers to Maryse, after that display of mind-reading :: I'm not even showing off, I promise. VonDrake: ::shrugs:: Windswept, yes. Desolate, no, not for the penguins at least. William Chocox: I see. Maryse Dubois: ::Grins.:: Cptn Swain: ::Smirks:: Very well. I am going to go finish packing. Let me know when everyone's off except senior staff. I think I have a bottle of prosecco we can split before we leave. Rhan K'hal: Aye. Cptn Swain: ...and... Indaura Ryssan: :: Gives the doctors there the padd from Dubois :: Rhan K'hal: If he's got a bottle left if must be in a hidden compartment under the couch. Irene Mincine: :: Irene feels a cold shudder as someone, somewhere, plans on drinking fancy liquor without her. :: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: I sold that one. VonDrake: <<It's probably in a box Irene, you're aren't missing much>> Rhan K'hal: Ah, too bad. Cptn Swain: ((Its actually little individual bottles, and they're served in a bucket. a bucket of bubbles. )) Cptn Swain: PAUSE SIM Cptn Swain: PAUSE SIM Cptn Swain: PAUSE SIM
  21. SD 0915.2019 Though we managed to return to our own time period, the Excalibur has seen some better days. Several days have passed, and repairs continue, albeit slowly. Our Romulan, Tamaran and Kaedwani visitors, who we had taken aboard just before we were sent back through time, have recently departed to their own homeworlds. Several Tamarian ships are assisting. A Starfleet tug, the USS Abanaki is en route, while the Nebula-class USS Mont Blanc has arrived as well to begin evacuating Excalibur's crew. The crew has been instructed to begin gathering their things as it may be some time before the Excalibur arrives via tug at Starbase 39 Tango.
  22. MISSION BRIEF: During a trial of science's idea to return us to our correct time, a malfunction forced Excalibur to enter the temporal fissure without proper testing. As the curtain goes up, our heroes have just emerged from the fissure, but when? Cptn Swain: BEGIN SIM Cptn Swain: BEGIN SIM Cptn Swain: BEGIN SIM Hakran K'hal: We appear to have emerged from the temporal fissure. Attempting to ascertain... anything. VonDrake: ::picking himself up off the floor, trying to gain some bearings on both himself and the ship:: Indaura Ryssan: :: Not liking these temporal travels :: Cptn Swain: ::His hair was a mess:: Irene Mincine: :: Red Irene has completely disappeared now that they've exited the fissure. Blue Irene stumbled backwards away from where Red used to be, a look of horror on her face. :: Rhan K'hal: Damage reports coming in from pretty well everywhere. Ship communications seem to be in order. Hakran K'hal: :: first checks to see if the planet is still there, and if so, what kind of shape its in :: William Chocox: ::drags himself upright with his console:: What's our status? ::tries his console:: Cptn Swain: Status report. VonDrake: ::taps buttons, looks over to try and find William:: Damage reports coming in. Still trying to figure things out. It doesn't seem catastrophic though. Rhan K'hal: We're in one piece, but barely. I have no subspace communications at all. VonDrake: ::taps buttons:: But it is bad. Maryse Dubois: :;Pulling herself off the floor.:: Everyone alright? Cptn Swain: Lets figure out where ... and when we are. William Chocox: ::waves at Ensign Von Drake:: I'm over here, and we'll see how bad it really is. I've seen this girl in some really rough spots. Hakran K'hal: Sensors are intermittent, it's taking me a bit. Cptn Swain: Can we get a visual on the planet? VonDrake: ::taps more buttons, looks up to see William:: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Our warp field has collapsed. No telling if our engines are still functional. ::She shot engineering a message to request a status report on all systems.:: VonDrake: ::taps more buttons:: Engines are non-functional, still trying to get a fix on the issue. No warp.. Irene Mincine: "I'm all right... she's, she's gone..." :: Irene climbs to her feet. She's got a cut on her forehead from banging it on some equipment in her makeshift lab, but everything else about her looks fine. :: Rhan K'hal: Not normally, but... :: hops down from mission ops, sets his PADD-XL down in the center of the room and activates a holographic projection with information piped from the visual EM band :: William Chocox: ::sees Hawthorne's message and types out a reply:: We're trying to get our bearings down here, just heard from Ensign Von Drake that engines are not working. Irene Mincine: :: Carillon's fast asleep strapped to a biobed, as well. She's not waking up any time soon, from Maryse's ministrations earlier. :: Maryse Dubois: ::Checks the cut.:: Thank goodness that isn't deep. :;Runs a dermal regenerator over it.:: Cptn Swain: ACTION> The planet appears to no longer be a temporal cesspool and in fact appears to be a bustling little colony world. Two Tamaran galleons are approaching. Hakran K'hal: Mass is consistent with the planet, as are radio and infrared readings. Our advanced sensors are down, so I can't get any chronimetric readings. VonDrake: ::tappity tap tap:: Structural Integrity, seems fine. But we'll probably want to run some deeper tests, temporal distortions can cause microfractures. Rhan K'hal: :: looks over his hologram :: That's reassuring, though I suppose I'd better find a way to get communications active. William Chocox: Yeah...that'll be the first thing I do once we know that the sensors work. Rhan K'hal: :: returns to his console, logs back in with the yacht computer, again. Irene Mincine: :: The cut closes up just as quickly. :: "She disappeared, right in front of me. How could she just disappear?" :: She was preoccupied with Red's disappearance, certainly. :: VonDrake: ::stops tapping and rotates his shoulder a little bit, having landed on it:: Rhan K'hal: Interfacing with the Llamrei. I have subspace communications back. Cptn Swain: ACTION> They're hailing. Rhan K'hal: What a surprise, they're hailing. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Our engines are down. ::She said quietly to Swain.:: Hakran K'hal: :: uses Rhan's link with the yacht to see if he can get the chronometer sync from the nearest communications buoy, since he's pretty well blind otherwise :: Cptn Swain: Put them through, audio only. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Shields are at twenty percent. No word yet on our weapons. Rhan K'hal: Audio only, aye. : beep :: Channel open. Cptn Swain: Tamaran> This is Captain Ruk of the Tamaran Empire to unidentified Federation vessel. Identify yourself. VonDrake: ::starts back working on the engines:: The fusion reactor is not online, something to do with the magnetic coil it looks like. Maryse Dubois: I don't pretend to know temporal physics. But maybe she was pulled back to her existence. Rhan K'hal: :: makes sure he remembered to change the direct transponder sub-signal to read as coming from the Excal and not the Llamrei, doesn't want us seem like a beat to pulp liar :: William Chocox: ::looks at his console:: Yeah, that'll do it. We may have to replace it. VonDrake: ::looks at William:: Looks like it... Orders sir? Cptn Swain: +Ruk+ This is Captain Asher Swain of the USS Excalibur. Sorry to just drop in on your like this Captain Ruk, and this may sound a bit strange but what is the date? Irene Mincine: :: Irene calms down a bit, but is still agitated. :: "And I'm a biologist, not a temporal physicist. I guess... yeah. She must have gone back to where she came from." William Chocox: We're not going anywhere without a functioning engine. Magnetic Coil it is. ::goes to find his toolkit in the mess that is Engineering:: Maryse Dubois: ::Nods.:: Come on. Back on your feet. ::Helps her up.:: Rhan K'hal: :: imagines he hears a tension sting in the background audio, shakes head and promises self a nap at first opportunity :: VonDrake: :::nods, tapping in an update to OPS about the magnetic coil:: Hakran K'hal: :: swivels to center for the wait for that stardate :: Rhan K'hal: :: receives the update, forwards to the XO :: Cptn Swain: Ruk> +Excal+ ::after a moment:: July 23, 2388 by the Federation stardates. We detected a temporal anomaly just before you appeared. Indaura Ryssan: :: Checks herself out :: Cptn Swain: The longest July 23rd on record. Rhan K'hal: :: lets out a long sigh :: Hakran K'hal: :: expels air in time with his brother :: Irene Mincine: :: She gets back to her feet with Maryse's help. She leans on her desk, checking all the monitoring stations she has set up. Frustrated and angry, she puts her fist through a paper-thin metal locker door. :: "Equipment's all down. No power. And no comms in this room, either." Indaura Ryssan: :: Goes to where Irene and Maryse are :: Cptn Swain: +Ruk+ That may be the best news I've heard in a while. It's... along story, but if you would be so kind as to connect us to Starfleet Command. You may also need to dispatch a vessel to some coordinates along your border. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Miranda sagged a little in relief and then rose, moving to the engineering console. She frowned at the incoming reports.:: VonDrake: ::sees William, go for a tool kit, grabs a random redshirt to go grab the replacement coil:: Cptn Swain: Ruk> +Excalibur+ Of course, Captain. Do you require assistance? Hakran K'hal: :: gets enough faint connections from the nearest Federation comm array to confirm the date, gives a thumbs up in Swain's direction before returning to his mostly useless console :: Cptn Swain: +Ruk+ That would be of great use. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::While she was tapping, she sent along the good news to the other department heads. They'd returned to their own time.:: Cptn Swain: Ruk> +Excalibur+ We'll begin dispatching aid teams. My comms officer will work with yours to uplink to Starfleet. Maryse Dubois: Hey! I don't have infinite medical supplies, you know. I'm sure a lot of things are down at the moment. William Chocox: ::starts walking towards where the magnetic coil is:: This is going to be...harder than it should be honestly. VonDrake: ::nods:: Yeah, they never put these things in the easiest place to get at. William Chocox: If I'm ever at a desk job designing ships that'll be one of the first things I implement. Rhan K'hal: <q> Oh this will be fun. Routing a signal from Starfleet through a Tamaran vessel, through the Captain's Yacht into the starship systems. It'll be a miracle if some part doesn't just give up the ghost. VonDrake: I'm sure the R&D Maintainability department will love you, sir. Irene Mincine: "Sorry." :: She shakes out her hand, which is thankfully fine. :: "If she disappeared, does that mean we're back where we came from, too? This junk's not going to tell me anything." Rhan K'hal: :: looks to see what he can do to avoid that :: Cptn Swain: ::Glances over to Miranda, with a wry grin:: William Chocox: Doubtful Ensign. I blow things up too much...allegedly. Hakran K'hal: :: quietly steps into the lift, orders it down to sickbay :: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Catches Swain's look, and doesn't immediately scowl. Best he could hope for in that situation, of course. They may have been back, but their ship was in shambles.:: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::And she took that personally.:: Cptn Swain: Start spreading the word we're back in our own time and that the Tamarians will be over to help. Hakran K'hal: :: exits on deck 11 with a group of the scraped and dinged coming in to get looked at :: Cptn Swain: Rhan once you have the uplink, put it through to my ready room. Hakran K'hal: :: enters sickbay and makes his way directly to Irene Central :: Rhan K'hal: Aye, Captain. And sir... :: a beat :: Talk fast. Hakran K'hal: :: sticks his head in, see's only one Blue Irene :: I suppose that was to be expected. Maryse Dubois: ::Turns as Hakran enters.:: Did we make it back? Rhan K'hal: :: gets on the horn with the Tamaran comm officer to make sure they can do this securely, among other considerations :: Cptn Swain: ::Smirks:: Miranda, take charge of the damage assessment. Hakran K'hal: Yes. We're approximately 242 seconds from when we left. Irene Mincine: :: The sole remaining Irene looks down at the floor. :: "She... disappeared once we entered the fissure, sir. I couldn't do anything." Irene Mincine: "We're home?" :: She perked up hearing that from Hak, with much relief on her face. :: Hakran K'hal: Well, we're above the planet that we did manage to de-FUBAR, so we're a long way from Federation space, but we're when we're supposed to be. VonDrake: ::starts mapping out the process of replacing a fusion reactor magnetic coil:: I'll cut power the engines. Rhan K'hal: :: first attempt gets blocked as an attempt at hacking, swears :: William Chocox: Thank you. VonDrake: ::nods, moving over to the proper console and taps more buttons:: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Working on it. ::She sighed as she received another handful of reports.:: Outlook not good. This is going to take months to repair. Indaura Ryssan: We are back...but is everything the same or are we in a similar timeline? Rhan K'hal: Okay, let's shed a layer. :: hurries up to grab his padd, then hands it to Swain :: Guess you can get comfy on the couch, sir. We'll try again in a minute. Cptn Swain: ::He nodded soberly:: I'll be in my Ready Room. VonDrake: ::runs a test to ensure all power flow is cut to the impulse engines reactor:: Rhan K'hal: :: returns to his console and kicks the Excalibur system from the equation, using his already strong and secure connection with the Llamrei and his padd :: Irene Mincine: "And the planet's back? I... I didn't commit xenocide on an entire planet?" :: She looked so relieved. :: Indaura Ryssan: +Bridge+ This is Doctor Ryssan. Is everyone up there alright? Hakran K'hal: We have crap left for sensors, no subspace. The planet is there, and we're in communication with the Tamarans that came from the planet. Though whether we're slightly shifted in some universe where someone's pet is named Butch instead of Fido, I can't say. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She quirked a brow at Indaura's comm and glanced up, scanning the bridge crew. No one had been complaining.:: VonDrake: ::looks to William:: We're good to go, sir. All power has been cut off to the impulse reactor Rhan K'hal: +Indaura+ As well as can be expected, Doctor. Rhan K'hal: :: engages the second attempt at a signal to Starfleet, which thankfully goes through and trills on the padd he gave to Swain :: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: +Chocox+ Hathorne to Engineering. Indaura Ryssan: +Bridge+ Perhaps it' Indaura Ryssan: +Bridge+ Perhaps it's just me then. Ryzzan out William Chocox: ::as he walks up to the magnetic coil he looks at his left hand where one of his fingers is not going in the wrong direction per se, but it isn't right at the moment:: Huh, ow... ::quickly wraps it with some engineering tape before getting ready to replace the coil:: +Hawthorne+ Chocox here. Cptn Swain: ::Begins filling in Tango 39 on their status:: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: +Chocox+ Do you have any readings on our hull integrity? I need a damage assessment on all systems. Send me whatever you have. Rhan K'hal: :: thanks his counterpart on the Tamaran vessel and sits back to monitor the signal, but not the conversation :: Rhan K'hal: :: turns ears sideways at Indaura's comm :: How odd. William Chocox: +Hawthorne+ Sure thing, I'll have Ensign Von Drake send it up. I'm about to replace a magnetic coil. ::Von Drake:: Ensign! Commander Hawthorne needs the closest thing to a damage assessment on all systems that we have! Irene Mincine: :: Irene nodded, :: "Guess that would explain why all this monitoring equipment is out." :: She takes a seat on the swivel chair, starting to click it off even if it was already powered down. :: "I'm so ready to get off this ship for a while." William Chocox: ::starts getting to work on the coil:: Hakran K'hal: Stop blaming yourself, Irene. If anything, you're a lucky survivor of my having to make a cold-blooded decision as the department chief. I'm sure Dr. Dubois probably has statistics for how many times you almost died since I first started milking you for your temporal DNA. Maryse Dubois: ::Nods.:: If it helps any, you can at least get back to your own quarters. No need to be cooped up in sickbay anymore. Hakran K'hal: Which reminds me, there will be Tamarans coming over, so if you need any assistance or supplies. Again. Let Rhan know. VonDrake: ::starts the damage assessment work up...Impulse engines down due to a damaged magnetic coil...Warp core offline...Internal sensors at 60%...Weapons fine...Structural Integrity fine, however the temporal travel could have caused microfractures that the internal sensors won't be able to pick up in their current state:: William Chocox: +Sickbay+ Hey...so...nothing urgent, but my pinky was pointed in a direction that's not typically normal, felt you should know for when you have time for me. Again, nothing urgent. I have it under control for the short term. Irene Mincine: "I understand, sir. It's harder than it sounds to get over... well, everything that's happened to the ship, to me." :: Irene sighed. :: "We'll be at a starbase, I can look at some wide open spaces, finally get this fixed..." :: She put a hand over the kidney that Maryse had to remove weeks ago. :: VonDrake: ::long range comms intermittent...overall power level at 64% with multiple power relay failures:: Hakran K'hal: :: nods :: In the meanwhile, the whole department can finally get some sleep, since we can't do much in the ship's current state. 23. 09/01/19 - No Sim (Labor Day) SD 0908.2019 During a trial of science's idea to return us to our correct time, a malfunction forced Excalibur to enter the temporal fissure without proper testing. As the curtain goes up, our heroes have just emerged from the fissure, but when?
  24. MISSION BRIEF: Several hours have passed and the crew has been working hard to ready the ship for testing Science's theory that an inverse tachyon beam could generate enough power to effectively punch a hole through space and time to get Excalibur back to it's original era. With the Enterprise's deflector dish modified, we are ready to begin testing (with probes) to discover and fine tune the exact beam modulations and variances needed for such a risky maneuver. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Very good. Also, everyone give VonDrake a another welcome. He's going to be joining Will in Engineering. Maryse Dubois: hiya William Chocox: Whoo! Rhan K'hal: Yay, someone to keep Will company in his constant attempts to fix the ship and/or blow up the ship. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Ensign Ryan Von Drake William Chocox: Few things to keep in mind. That was one time that I nearly blew up the ship, and don't pay attention to whatever device I hide whenever Commander Hawthorne or Captain Swain enter Engineering. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::thwaps Will:: Don't pick up any bad habits, Ryan. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Because I'm always watching. VonDrake: I'll try not to... Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: Let's get started. VonDrake: Emphasis on try. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: BEGIN SIM Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: BEGIN SIM Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: BEGIN SIM Rhan K'hal: :: having spent the last few hours making sure the science consoles are as good as they can get, has moved himself to his home console at mission ops :: William Chocox: ::is in engineering waiting for the start signal:: Maryse Dubois: ::In sickbay, shuffling between Irene and our poor misguided helmsman.:: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Miranda was on the bridge in the BIG CHAIR to oversee the testing of the probes while Swain finished his paperwork, though she kept throwing glances at the ship status readings.:: Hakran K'hal: :: on the bridge at Sci 1, grateful for his brother's efforts, dials in the screens he'll need for the test :: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::To the Ops Kitty:: Mr. K'hal, please contact the Enterprise and inform that we are ready to launch the probes as soon as their deflectors are online. Irene Mincine: :: Blue Irene is helping out as much as she can with the testing from a makeshift workstation in sick bay. Most of the caffeine has been processed. ::Leaves her alone for a few minutes, then returns with a warm cup of tea.:: Here. Hakran K'hal: :: knowing Issaha is down in the lab doing his own monitoring, with a direct connection to Enterprise to adjust the inverse tachyon beam's settings, is content to monitor and fine tune via the probes :: VonDrake: ::nods:: Will do. Hakran K'hal: Sending Probe Alpha into position. William Chocox: Thank you Ensign. ::waits for the next probe to be needed:: Hakran K'hal: Kenet> Encountering temporal instability. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ACTION> Enterprise activates it's deflector array, which begins to generate the energy needed to gather the necessary particles and spit them out in a somewhat elegant arrangement that may or may not explode the universe. A beam pierces the orbit of the ruined planet and space/time begins to fluctuate. Hakran K'hal: Kenet> Experience a LOT of temporal instability. Irene Mincine: Val> "Oh. Cptn Swain: ::Comes onto the bridge:: Report! Rhan K'hal: +Enterprise+ E-C, back off, back off, back off! Hakran K'hal: The fissure has expanded Captain. We're getting pulled in, but so is the Enterprise. Cptn Swain: ACTION> E-C reports they're having trouble shutting down the beam and are being pulled in as well. Cptn Swain: ::Glances to Miranda:: Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::Miranda stood and gripped the railing.:: Why haven't they deactivated the beam? Rhan K'hal: Dammit, they can't disengage. Cptn Swain: We should still be able to close the fissure with a static warp shell. Cdr Miranda Hawthorne: ::She moved to the open engineering console.:: +Engineering+ I need extra power to the engines! Hakran K'hal: We can't generate it fast enough to close it before they join us, Captain. We need them out of range. Now. Cptn Swain: I know we were holding off on that test but I don't think we have any choice. ::Considers:: That might just make it worse K'hal, but give it a shot.
