  5. Aidan feels Deb’s gaze on him as he quickly gets dressed for bed. Finishing, he steps over to the bed and sits down on the edge. Adjusting the covers he turns and brings his legs up, slipping under the covers. He sighs contentedly as he settles against the pillows. After a few seconds he tips on his side to face Deb as he smiles and murmurs "I almost blushed when you were watching me so. What is going through your head that has you smiling?" He brushes a hand down her side and leans into kiss her briefly. Positioning herself to better look into his eyes, Deb smiled playfully. "I was just thinking about how wonderful our shore leave was," she replied softly. "And how I really didn't want it to end." She gently stroked his cheek with the tips of her fingers. "My only regret is that you didn't have the opportunity to enjoy the spa. But I know how we can fix that." He closes his eyes and leans his head against her fingers. Softly he murmurs "Every shore leave we’ve had is one I’ve never wanted to end. Same with our honeymoon." He slowly opens his eyes and smiles "As for my not being able to enjoy the spa....one way to fix that is next time we go as a couple." He stretches languorously then purrs "But I somehow suspect my wife is talking about something a bit...sooner then that." "Heaven only knows when we'll have another shore leave anywhere near a real spa," she murmured as Aidan settled after his stretch. "There is plenty of room in the physical therapy unit. The tubs would be very beneficial to our rehab patients." She rested her hand on his chest and started drawing little circles with her index finger. "In the meantime, I'm sure everyone on the ship would love to have a way to relax and de-stress after a long day's work. Especially when you consider the type of missions we're sent on." He closes his eyes again, enjoying her touch. "I suppose I can’t really argue with that." He chuckles then adds "In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if there wasn’t a stampede for your little spa at times." He opens his eyes and reaches up to brush his hand against the side of her face as his voice takes on a teasing tone, "But I’m wondering if a certain Doctor I know isn’t engaging in a little self interest as well. So...what’s this little spa going to all entail?" "Not much," replied Deb casually. "Just a little rearranging of the equipment and installation of a couple of water and power sources." She shrugged slightly. "We've already checked it out with engineering. They said it could be done without a problem." Debbie pushed herself up a bit and grinned at her husband. "I admit to a little self interest but you have nothing to worry about. You offer far more than a spa tub ever could. Rest assured, I'll be home every night." He smirks and purrs "Good...else I’ll see to the dismantling of the idea...with a phaser. Not going to have my wife and the Chief Medical Officer of this ship became addicted to a spa. Her chocoholism is enough." His smirk softens into a smile as he brushes a finger down her neck and along her shoulder. "Though actually what I was asking is what kind of spa is it going to be. What it’s going to offer and such. After all, if I ever do use it, it would probably be a good idea to know what is there...." "Oh, it's soooo relaxing," replied Deb remembering her wonderful soak at the spa on Starbase 2. "We bought several samples of everything.....salts and soaks and all the marvelous lotions. I think Anna is in the process of programming them into our replicators so we'll have endless supply. We already have a couple of people on staff who are qualified masseuses." She grinned coyly. "The tubs are large enough for two....and it will be private." "I’m pretty sure the only masseuse you get, love, is me. In fact I’m pretty sure that was somewhere in our wedding vows. So perhaps could get whatever oils or lotions they use for a private supply here?" He smiles wryly and props himself up on an elbow. "And you don’t think the others are going to talk at our using it together? But yes...very private would be best." "I'll have to review those wedding vows," laughed Deb. "But you're right, I'm sure the....others will talk. We would have to be very discreet." She canted her head to the right so she could again look into his eyes. "It's too bad we can't install one here," she sighed. "But if we did, we'd have to give up the kitchen." He chuckles, "I think giving up the kitchen would be asking a bit too high of a price." He leans in for a soft kiss. Breaking it off after a few seconds he murmurs "But...perhaps when we move on from this ship borne life we could perhaps see to it that our home has such accommodations? Perhaps a Jacuzzi and a sauna as well? Things that are attached to the master bedroom only?" His smirk returns briefly. "Though for right now the question really is how discreet we can manage to be. And whether or not I really should be allowed to sign off on that requisition before it goes to the Captain. After all...I may have a conflict of interest here." His voice takes on a decidedly teasing tone as he says the last. Deb smiled mischievously. "I'm sure you can make an impartial decision," she said softly. "But if there's anything I can do to help, please let me know." She started drawing those little circles on his chest again before looking up at him innocently. "I mean, if you need further information...." "Well perhaps could use some further..information, yes." He smiles and purrs, "Though, perhaps could give a..demonstration of the benefits, yes? A massage perhaps?" "Oh I have a lot in mind," purred Debbie moving aside and pulling him onto his stomach. "But we'll start with the massage." He settles on his stomach and takes another few moments to stretch. Resting his head on the pillow with his hands tucked under the pillow he closes his eyes and relaxes. "Does my idea about things to have at our home, when we move on from here, meet approval? And exactly what other things do you have in mind?" "You mean the home spa?" asked Deb as she kneaded his shoulder and neck muscles. "I'm in full agreement with that. You'd better start saving your credits too. When the time comes, I'll be reminding you about this little chat." She leaned down and kissed him on the back of his neck. "As for what other things I have in mind, you'll have to wait and see. But feel free to use your imagination." A shiver runs through him when she kisses him on the back of his neck. "Don’t worry, I haven’t exactly had many things to buy over the years. Well there is the presents I’ve gotten you and future presents, yes, but one doesn’t exactly have many things to buy while in Starfleet. Since our house will be where I intend to grow old with my wife I very much intend it to be exactly what we want." He moans softly as he savors and enjoys her touch. He purrs, "As for imagining what other things you have in mind, I think I’ll just wait and not imagine. Much more..enjoyable that way." He shifts slightly then settles back down as he softly murmurs "But this is heaven right here."

  7. By: Dr. Matthews & Cmdr Ridire Deb Matthews lazily strolled down the corridor toward her quarters. The ladies day out went even better than she'd hoped. A leisurely brunch and then four hours at one of the numerous spas on the massive station. It usually took a full week of vacation for her to feel this relaxed. But those able and agile hands at the spa had worked a miracle in just a few hours. She'd felt slightly guilty about leaving Aidan alone for the day. But she would make up for it this evening. Deb had scouted several restaurants on the starbase. There were two or three she was dying to try out. She planned on doing just that a bit later...... with her husband. After that, there were a few shops she wanted to visit and tomorrow....well....she had big plans for the two of them tomorrow. Of course, everything hinged on Aidan agreeing to the itinerary. She didn't think there would be a problem. With a few exceptions, he usually left it up to her to plan their activities during short layovers at starbases. So she was fairly certain he would go along with her plans.....until she stepped inside their quarters. It was funny how one small thing could set of an alarm. In this case, it was the closed bedroom door.... with Nephtys on the outside. The Siamese meowed loudly as though to let Deb know she'd been ignored for far too long. Picking up the cat, she walked toward the bedroom and quietly opened the door. Aidan was already in bed! She glanced at the clock on the night stand as she dropped Nephtys on the foot of the bed. It was only 1800 hours. What had he been up to that led him to go to bed at this hour? Another alarm went off as she moved a bit closer. He was sleeping on his right side....no big deal.....but he never slept on his right side facing away from her. And there was an empty glass on the bedside table. She quietly picked it up and took a quick sniff confirming her suspicion. He'd had at least on shot of his grandfather's whiskey. He opened that bottle only on very special occasions or when he was feeling...... Deb rested her hand on his shoulder and gently shook him while softly calling his name. She didn't wait for a response before she maneuvered herself onto the bed, sitting beside him as he awakened. It takes him a minute for him to wake enough to realize her presence. Though he keeps his eyes closed for a couple more minutes, trying to decide whether or not to respond. He had heard that tone of concern in her voice before. Finally he decides to open his eyes, knowing that there was no way she would buy that he was so deeply asleep that he didn’t wake up to her shaking him or calling him. He blinks his eyes open and looks up at her. He tries a smile as he says "Ah, you’re back. I wasn’t sure when to expect you home." He reaches for her near hand and squeezes it gently. "Are you okay," she asked resting her hand on his forehead. He wasn't feverish but that didn't mean anything. There were plenty of ailments that didn't include fever as a symptom. "It's only 6 o'clock." She watched him closely for any other signs of illness all the while suspecting the problem might not be physical at all. "So tell me," she added glancing toward the empty glass, "what's going on?" He closes his eyes briefly then returns his attention to her face. "I’m fine, Deb. Nothing is going on." If Las Vegas was interested in taking bets on this, even Aidan would bet that Deb would not believe everything was fine. "Did you have fun while you were out?" "Yes," she answered slowly, her tone skeptical. "But it appears you didn't have much fun while I was gone. So I'll ask you again, what's wrong?" She leaned in, kissed him lightly on the cheek and whispered in his ear. "And this time, tell me the truth." He shrugs slightly "No, it was a boring day. But there’s nothing for you to be concerned about, Deb. It’s my..." He frowns slightly as he catches himself from continuing that sentence. He sighs, closes his eyes and rolls over on his back. "I’m glad you had fun though." She waited a moment, hoping he would come clean about what was bothering him. His quip about her having fun assured he wouldn't. "Aidan," she said, her tone reflecting a multitude of emotions. "Don't shut me out like this. We promised each other we wouldn't do that. Please, tell me what's on your mind." He considers for a moment, strongly tempted to keep it to himself. But she is right...they had promised not to shut each other out....not to push each other away. And there had been a couple times where he had caught her doing that and chided her for it. He sighs and reaches up to brush a hand through her hair. "I don’t want you feeling guilty or responsible, Deb, which is why I tried to keep it from you. Just....just it became quite apparent to me today that..." He closes his eyes for a few seconds and exhales a slow breath. "...that I don’t exactly have anyone I’m close to or would consider a friend here. And I’m not inclined to go on shore leave by myself which means, as I said, I had a rather boring day. And I got rather....morose over it." Deb drew a deep breath as Aidan finished his explanation. She hadn't given it too much thought prior to leaving for her spa date with Anna and Caroline. He never blinked an eye when she told him about it. But now, she wondered why she hadn't seen this coming. She was painfully aware that he was pretty much alone on this ship. Except for her, Aidan didn't have anyone he could call a friend. That bothered her more than she was willing to admit. It had always bothered her. He either reads her emotions in her eyes or guesses at them. He reaches for her hand and brings it to his lips where he kisses the palm. "Like I said, Deb, it’s not your fault. Nor is it your responsibility. And I am glad you had fun today." He sits up and moves to hold her gently. He closes his eyes briefly and sighs. “I don’t want you thinking you shouldn’t have gone, you don’t owe me that. Nor do I want you forgoing such things in the future because of me.. This is my fault, not yours. And I am sorry for how I acted.” "I have the perfect cure for morose," she said, offering him a bright smile. "But it will require the patient putting his trust in the physician. Think you can do that?" He smiles faintly, "That depends on what the physician has in mind. Though to be honest the patient is a bit more interested in what his wife has in mind." He squeezes her hand again and murmurs "I really would like to go dancing while we have shore leave. And some other things, especially time alone. If I can make suggestions?" His smile fades as he adds in an undertone, "I really would just like to forget how today went so far." "Then it's time to get up," announced Deb, tossing the covers off of him. She bounced to her feet and quickly crossed the room to Aidan's closet. Opening the door, she pulled out one of his best pair of trousers and an equally nice shirt. "I scouted the station this afternoon. We're going out to dinner and dancing. And it's a ritzy place so we have to dress up. I'm going to wear that little red dress of mine....the one you like so much." For a few seconds the image of her in that particular dress flashes through his mind. He smiles “So you’re not planning to drag me shopping?” He slips out of bed and steps towards her. He slips an arm around her waist and purrs “And considering that you draw a lot of attention when you wear that particular dress I’m willing to bet that quite a few other men are going to want to cut into any dancing. I may have to be a bit wary. Also I’m a bit curious what you have planned after dinner and dancing? And what is in store for tomorrow?” He reaches for the clothes she pulled out of the closet and starts changing. As he pulls on the shirt and starts buttoning it he says “And if I can suggest, you should wear that perfume I bought you a few months ago. I do rather like it.” He smiles mischievously as he says that. "You mean that expensive stuff I should keep locked in a vault," she replied with a mischievous grin. She walked up to him and gave him a quick hug. "I wouldn't think of wearing anything else. And I'm certain you won't allow anyone to cut into our dancing." She stepped away to continue dressing. "I'll let you know what's in store for you later as the evening progresses," she added coyly. "But rest assured." She glanced at him over her shoulder with a suggestive wink. "It will wipe away whatever morose mood may still be lingering around." He finishes getting dressed before stepping up behind her. He kisses her bare shoulder before murmuring “I’m afraid I have an exclusive claim to your dance card. As you do mine.” He reaches past her to retrieve the diamond solitaire necklace he bought her a while back. He settles it gently around her neck then takes a second to clasp it. He stares at her reflection in the mirror for a few seconds. “I think you can be assured that your company, you wearing that dress, that perfume, dancing and whatever else you may have planned will do a good job of dealing with any morose mood lingering around. I am very aware of how lucky I am to have you.” He smiles coyly and purrs “Though some kisses later would also help. If I can be so bold...” “And do you think I should wear a suit jacket with this?” Deb smiled warmly and turned to face him. "A jacket would look nice," she whispered, lacing her arms around his neck. She kissed him lightly on the cheek she pulled away just far enough to gaze into his eyes. "You're not the only lucky one around here," she murmured softly. "It's important you know that." She brushed her lips against his. "And I don't see why we shouldn't start those kisses right now." They held each other for several minutes adding a few lingering kisses to begin their evening. They stepped back simultaneously as though they both knew it was time to leave or else they might never make it out the door. Deb picked up her wrap as they walked out of the bedroom. This was going to be a wonderful night...for both of them....a night to add to their list of memorable evenings...
  8. Aidan gives a resigned sigh as he pours himself a glass of his grandfather’s prized 100 year old Irish whiskey. He had shore leave as they were at Starbase 2 for the next few days and ordinarily he’d be spending as much time as possible with Deb and doing his level best to ignore the ship. However, Deb was off with various other female members of the senior staff on their ladies day out, as Deb put it. Which was fine, Aidan certainly had no problem with it. Still, it wasn’t before long that he started feeling bored and eventually morose about the situation. He picks up the glass and steps towards the bedroom. Nephtys, thinking that with Deb’s absence it was a perfect time to get some attention and affection out of Aidan, curled around and through his legs. She also meows and purrs loudly, trying to get Aidan’s attention. The only attention Aidan gives her is a very gentle nudge with his foot as he reaches the door. The nudge is enough to keep Nephtys from following him into the bedroom. And the bedroom is sufficiently soundproofed that he doesn’t hear her rather loud protest. Before Aidan and Deb became involved he had always stayed aboard the Reaent during shore leaves, content with remaining in his quarters and not doing anything really. It wasn’t how he treated shore leaves aboard the USS Venture but it had became his habit on this ship. And the reasons were two fold and simple. First off he was never the XO aboard the Venture. There hadn’t been that wall between him and the others on the crew of that ship. He had found and maintained several good friendships while onboard his prior ship. And when that ship had shore leave he was always off the ship and was spending time with those friends. And sure, he knew of several XO’s who managed to be both commanding officer and friends to their subordinates. Commander Kirien, who had been XO aboard the Reaent, during Aidan’s first few years aboard that ship, being a good example. Still, what was Commander Kirien’s style wasn’t Aidan’s style. The second reason was...well..frankly Fiona. When he came aboard the Reaent he was determined to not let anyone close again, to not let himself get hurt like that again. And her subsequent death didn’t help that matter any. Granted, Deb had managed to pierce the shell around him but that still didn’t change the fact that besides her he had no people onboard the Reaent that he was close to. And the only other person he considered anything resembling an actual friend, Gracie, was off with Deb. He considered the crew of the Reaent as his second family but...that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t feel awkward about sharing shore leave with them...too much the XO still. For half a second he considers calling his family on Earth. But he quickly nixes that idea. All of them knew him well enough to be able to pick up on his mood no matter how much he would try to hide it. And he doesn’t want to get into a discussion about his feelings or behavior with a certain silver haired El Aurian who also be able to quickly pick up on his mood and then proceed to gently chide him for his behaviour. There were times where Nick’s El Aurian’s inherent understanding mixed with somehow making it come across as superiority without even trying was annoying. He sets the glass on the end table near his side of the bed then turns and walks towards the closet. He quickly changes into what he wears for bed at night. Stepping back towards the bed, he sighs again as he sits down on the bed. Picking up the glass, he swallows the drink in two gulps and waits for the liquid fire making its way down his throat to subside. He slips under the covers and closes his eyes, hoping that he can get to sleep before his thoughts affect his mood more. He had already decided that he would not bring this up with Deb. None of this was her fault and he didn’t want to make her feel bad or guilty. He would try his best to hide it and act normal.

  17. Aidan woke up about an hour after the events that happened though admittedly he is still a bit fuzzy on what exactly had happened. Dr. Studly had tried explaining it to him, to the best of his ability, but Aidan was really only interested in whether Deb was safe. Dr. Studly had replied that she was back though like him she had returned unconscious. That was enough for Aidan, he then proceeded to get up and off the biobed and went to find Deb over Dr. Studly’s objections. In fact, Aidan blithely ignored the Doctor. He found Deb lying on a biobed in one of the private rooms off Sickbay. Confiscating a chair he moves it to the side of Deb’s bed and sits down. He gently reaches for her near hand, her left hand to be exact, and clasps it between his hands while waiting for her to wake up. Debbie wasn't sure what awakened her. It was either the headache or the nausea. Even before she opened her eyes, she decided the culprit was her churning stomach. Headaches she could tolerate but nausea was another matter altogether. She carefully opened one eye and then the other. Cautiously surveying the ceiling, she knew she was in Sickbay. She could only hope it was the her Sickbay. Lifting her right arm, she placed her hand on her stomach only to knock off a small, lightweight object that had been left there. She was able to grab it before it tumbled to the floor. It was a bedpan. Obviously, someone anticipated the tumultuous tummy she was now dealing with. Deb couldn't move her left hand. Something was holding it down. It took several seconds before she dared glance in that direction but when she did, she managed a weak smile and a quiet sigh of relief. Even if this wasn't her Sickbay, Aidan was here and that meant everything would be okay. He brings his head up and opens his eyes when he feels Deb move. He had been trying not to think of what it would be like if she never did. He chokes back the sudden emotion before taking a moment to have the computer summon Gracie. Still clutching her hand he stands and leans over her to kiss her on the forehead gently. He murmurs, "Thank God you’re safe," as the emotions wash over him and several tears fall from his eyes. Safe? Safe from what? Deb couldn't remember being in danger. As a matter of fact, she couldn't remember much of anything that happened prior to her waking up with a raging headache and a roiling stomach. But something must have happened otherwise her husband wouldn't be hovering over her looking like she had just survived a near death experience. She managed a weak smile along with a soft chuckle. "Thanks," she whispered hoarsely. "Maybe you could explain what happened. I don't seem to remember anything." It takes him a minute or two before he can stop the tears. After wiping them away he moves to sit down in his chair again. Still he holds tightly onto her hand, as if he’s scared she’s going to disappear on him again. In a not quite steady voice he says, "Apparently, a couple hours ago, while we were trying to contact the away team on the station, both you and Captain Michaels disappeared from the ship. And as Mr. Angel and Mr. Shamor and a few others searched the ship for you two about fifty more people started disappearing from the ship, including Shamor, Captain McQueen and myself. I’m not sure about the details but apparently the Romulans at some point in the past, around the time of the Phoenix mission here, took over the station and tried to use it as a weapon to target Earth. Apparently the station also got stuck in a temporal loop at that point which did something back then. But apparently when we boarded the station, the loop started repeating itself and the station started powering up. From what we can gather, the Romulans had intended to use the main sensor dish of the station as a sort of beam weapon to attack earth. The away team managed to find that out and change the aiming point of the sensor dish. They couldn’t stop the discharge. When the discharge happened it blew up one of the local moons in the planetary system." He frowns darkly and adds "We’re still trying to find out the full effects of that discharge. But right after that, the ship managed to retrieve the away team and you, Captain Michaels, Captain McQueen and the rest of us reappeared on the ship..all of us were unconscious." Deb stared blankly at her husband as he brought her up to date on what had happed aboard the ship as well as the station. Once again, a routine assignment had turned into one of those curious events the Reaent was always stumbling into. As the information slowly penetrated her brain, she closed her eyes with a quiet sigh. She was suffering from what was commonly referred to as "temporal shock." It was rarely life threatening but always miserable. She had once been told temporal shock was similar to the hangover one usually suffered after downing a full bottle of Romulan Ale. Debbie had never even tasted the notorious blue booze the Federation's arch enemy was so proud of. Now, she was absolutely certain she never would. He shrugs and says tiredly "I think that’s about the gist of it. I’m not entirely sure if that’s completely right, since I woke up I’ve been rather more focused on you. I’ve been sitting here since I woke up though I think I’m going to owe an apology to Dr. Studly as I rather blithely ignored his request or orders, depending on how you want to view them, that I return to my own room here in Sickbay. I don’t think he was too amused at the compromise I suggested." Opening her eyes, Debbie squeezed her husband's hand. "Don't worry about Studly," she offered with a grin. "From the sound of it, he's so busy, he won't even remember you disobeyed his orders." She paused for a moment, taking on a more serious demeanor. "The away team," she asked cautiously. "We got them back, right?" He smiles and nods. "Yes, everyone is back safe and sound. We’re at the edge of the system until we decide what to do with the station." He chuckles then adds, "Well perhaps you’re right about Dr. Studly. However, I doubt Gracie will forget quite so easily though. I've been rather ignoring her...suggestions as well and made the same compromise offer to her that I did to Dr. Studly." "You may have a problem with Gracie," replied Deb as she managed to sit up with Aidan's help. "She doesn't forget anything." The CMO rubbed her forehead with one hand and held on to her husband with the other waiting for the dizziness to pass. After a moment, she dared to open her eyes and met Aidan's gaze. "Just what compromise are you talking about?" He rests a hand at the small of her back to steady her when she sits up. He frowns slightly as she does so. The frown turns into a small innocent smile when he answers "I suggested that if they wanted me to stay in my biobed and get some rest they should move it in here since I was more then a little determined to be here and watch over you." He leans in and gently kisses her forehead as he murmurs "You’re much too important to me for to put my own rest and recovery ahead of." Deb smiled warmly at her husband. She truly appreciated his sentiments but already, her focus was returning to the bizarre events they had been forced to endure over the past few hours. "How are you feeling?" she asked softly while tracing the curve of his chin with her slender fingers. "And what about the Captains? Are they okay?" He closes his eyes and leans into her fingers, savoring her touch for a few quiet seconds. He opens his eyes and kisses the tips of her fingers. "The Captains are alright. Captain Michaels apparently disappeared at the same time you did. Captain McQueen disappeared when I and the others did. They’re both still unconscious though so they’re somewhere in Sickbay here." Dropping her legs over the side of the bed, Debbie pondered the information Aidan had just provided. She also noted what he didn't say. The two Captains were incapacitated but would be okay. In the meantime, who was in charge? It certainly wasn't Aidan because he was here, with her, in Sickbay and from the sound of it, he didn't have any choice. At least he was conscious but was there something he wasn't telling her. "And you?" she inquired softly, lacing her fingers through his. "Were you unconscious for awhile?" He nods, "Yeah for a little over an hour apparently. In that time the others got the away team back and backed the ship away from the station to the edge of the system. I’m not entirely sure who was in charge up on the bridge during that time but we survived it and that’s all that really matters." He brings her hands up to his lips and kisses them. "I’ll have a meeting with the away team and the conscious senior staff. We need to decide what to do about the station, we can’t obviously leave it there, it’s obviously dangerous." "That's putting it mildly," whispered Deb as she slipped off the bed. Much to her surprise, she managed to maintain her balance with practically no discomfort. "I'll talk to Rocco and Gracie.....clear the way for everyone to meet. But you should probably plan on using the conference room down the hall. They aren't going to let us wander too far just yet." She gazed at him and then smiled weakly. "Don't worry, I'm okay. Now that I'm awake, I can take something to ease this nausea and the headache. What I would like to know is this." She slipped an arm around his waist and rested against him. "Are you okay?" He smiles and wraps his arms around her, holding her tightly against him. "I’ll handle clearing it with Dr. Studly and Gracie. Well, actually I’ll talk to Merina about it since she’s in charge right now. And I'll tell them you want something for your headache and nausea. But good idea with using the nearby conference room." He tips his head down and tucks into the crux of her neck as his smile fades. Softly he murmurs "And yes, I’m okay. I’m fine now that you’re awake." He closes his eyes against the sudden tears as his mind flashes back to how he felt when he discovered she was missing. "And I'm okay too," whispered Debbie, slowly realizing that her sudden disappearance must have scared Aidan to death. "Or I will be as soon as my stomach settles down." She held him tightly and quietly wished they were far away from Reaent. "All of sudden," she continued, her throat tightening. "I can't wait until this day is over and we're able to relax a little." Pulling away slightly, she met his gaze and smiled warmly. "So lets get this meeting of yours over with. I think we both deserve a quiet evening." He nods as his hands slip to her waist. He gently lifts her a couple inches and deposits her onto the biobed in a sitting position. He kisses her cheek gently before murmuring, "You stay here. I’ll go get Merina or Gracie to give you something for your stomach and for your headache. Then we’ll go to the meeting. Then as soon as we can we’ll go back to our quarters and see about that quiet evening. In the meantime, think about how you want to spend our time alone tonight. Okay?" He was out the door before she could answer. Half tempted to follow him, she opted to stay put. Her head was really pounding. In spite of that, she had no trouble deciding how she wanted to spend their quiet evening. She only hoped "the headache" wouldn't interfere.
