  1. As many as 7, as few as 1. As has already been stated, the fewer the better to be truly effective. I found I got confused on who I was writing logs for, what character was involved in what subplots...and when you show up to a sim in the wrong uniform (assuming you remember to wear one) you know its time to scale back. In the beginning I suggest one, two at the outside depending on how busy you are outside of simming. (Work, school, activities) Once you have an idea of how things go with simming, log writing, etc, then you can add more if you feel you have the time and energy. There is definitely no award for the most sims. And if you do fewer with quality you will go farther.
  2. They all have their unique traits, I love em all. But, my fave is the captains yacht. I have gotten to destroy at least 2 since I have been on the Arcadia.....and they keep replacing them, and Moose keeps letting me fly em!! In my defence.. neither crash has been my fault.
  3. Moose... of course its Moose. An antlered Captain. I really like Calhoun. Haven't read all the books. But he's great. If you wanna bash on acting, Kirk was so poorly acted. Partly it was the style at the time, but partly its just that he's not a great actor. Kate Mulgrew can act. She had a tough role to play as the first woman in a series (not just a guest spot) as a captain. I think she did a great job, tho I haven't watched the whole series. Sisko was an awesome Captain, as was Picard. I was thrilled at the idea of Sulu having a series, and then they changed it for Archer. Sulu just has the VOICE of a Captain. Personally, I like the Archer character, tho I can't stand the actor. Hows that for non-committal? Seems to be my modus operandi today....
  4. Ok.. I have autographed photos. I have collector plates. I have over 400 Playmates figures (packed in boxes). I have been on a Star Trek Cruise. (Awesome). Yet, on the cruise, I didn't go to the make up sessions, or try my best to *hang out* with the stars. I some nice chats with Eric Menyk (sp?) his wife and child. I have been to two conventions. I met Denise Crosby at one. Funny thing there, there was a guy who had the playboy and she autographed it! The other one was so huge I didn't see anyone, much less talk to anyone. I have been to the Arcadia *Trekfest* at the Las Vegas hilton. We had a blast, but it was the friendship of meeting people I played with online more than the trek stuff that attracted me. Say fellow Arcadians.. when are we gonna do it again??? And when i was last in Vegas, I spent an afternoon doing the experience, eating at Quarks, buying a battery operated tribble and a targ. I have had offers to join a local Trek club.. way to trekkie for me. I don't speak Klingon, Romulan, or Cardassian. I did however, create a whole culture including govt and religon for the Deltans in another sim group. Trekkie.. Trekker... neither. Just a Trek fan.
  5. I used to name animals after ST characters, but all of them came to bad ends. Cat named Data (it was an orange tabby) killed in a car engine Horse named Deanna - had a terrible wire accident Snake named Worf (black Mexican King) died under mysterious circumstances Nile Monitor named Garak escaped, and was killed by dogs. (he gave them some nasty cuts first tho) Boa named Riker gave up the ghost for unknown reasons Iguana named Picard died of old age, we think Various other fish and such died normal deaths. But... none of my horses are ST named.
  6. You forgot to add that some people got hooked on TOS... when it was actually ON TV, prime time, not late night. I can't say that dispatching is a nerdy profession, but my college major was History, with a minor in English. (It took ten years, but I am almost broken of the spell check in the chat room habit) I used to work in purchasing.. a lovely offshoot of finance. We got to spend the money!!!
  7. add *no coconuts*....
  8. Not on topic, but I like Bond....
  9. I should send them Ziggys photo collection of Dac learning to hula in the holodeck in high heeled wedge sandals... its the current Arcadia screensaver of choice. That and the one where Dac fell down the coconuts rolled away....
  10. :::still trying to come up with a title::::
  11. Lets see.. 9 horses, a 6yo, working 12 hr shifts 3-4 days a week (non fire season), 24 hour shifts 3-4 months of the year... Nah, I dont have a life outside of here... But seriously, my problem is the early-ness of the sims. Being on the west coast, 11pm Est is about the earliest I can handle. But I know all the GMs aren't on the west coast... this is not a conspiracy!! However, I can see where they would be late to those on the west coast, I used to be a central time zone, and it was perfect.
  12. I've managed to give away most of mine....at my crab party 2 years ago. I think Jami got the 1.5 floppy, and I'm not sure, but I think Issia got the 1.1 floppy. Handed everyone a disk of floppy on the way in, and the number on it, dictated what doorprize you won. LOL :) I like that idea Blu!!! I thought it was funny when the news ran a story on some guys who were collecting together a million AOL cd's to send to AOL. When I heard it, i guessed it would take them maybe 2 days to find that many. I am still running 7.. and thats an extrememly reluctant upgrade cause of computer malfunction. I had a free account back in the 2-2.5 days, and I remember when we wnet to 3.0 and lost our private chat rooms. Huge hullaballo. I want 1.5 back. I am not a nerd. I like it simple. Thats why I am trying to get webby to revamp my website!!! :)
  13. I am hurt.. truly hurt Images, that you think I am trying to eliminate you. Other than blowing up an academy ship or two I have no personal vendettas. ::): I have been simming for ... well close to a decade now, which is scary to contemplate. I have simmed with at least 5 different groups, and all have had their good and bad points. I really like this group, and actually stepped up to become a GM, which shows I like it and plan on sticking around. I know what it takes to be a host, forum leader, admiral, etc, and its a lot of hard work with very little reward. One of the great things about this group is the variety. You can be on a starbase, a TOS based sim, a Romulan sim, etc, etc, etc. And a lot of these ships have YEARS of history so simplots can involve plots from the past which adds spice. (We love to do that on the Arcadia) I won't talk about the academies, cause I think they've been covered exteremely well on this string. Welcome aboard, and looking forward to seeing you around! So um, since the state of CA may soon be paying me minimum wage, how soon til we get those paychecks A??
  14. Happy Birthday Sovak.
  15. Wonderful!!!
  16. A smiley with a tequila glass??? Now I like this room. If I can get into it from work (since I can't get into the ST.com ones from here) then I am all for this room!!
  17. AOL has never figured that out. They keep rolling out a new and better version before anyone can figure out the current one. And the worst part is, rather than making things easier, they make things much more difficult to work with. I miss AOL 1.5......... But hey! I LOVE this website!! ;)
  18. We're past 10 votes.....
  19. I have more than one, but I hate the little pop up thing that asks me every time I change pages who I want to be, even when I am signed in.
  20. Watch out Ziggy, I may have found a new favorite :;): Dac He's buying you shoes, giving me tequila, Huff donuts... I think he's trying to be EVERYONE's favorite. :D
  21. I'm bribed.. but I already voted for Knoells.
  22. Well... yeah. Big surprise huh?? :D
  23. Well, so much for on one knee, flowers in hand, with a ring. If they are willing to accept an email proposal, then I'd be willing to bet they'll agree to being co-wives. Now to figure out the sleeping arrangements, who gives the brides away, in what order, how many bridesmaids, how many groomsmen (since there is only one groom and 2 brides, does that mean twice as many bridesmaids as groomsmen?), wedding cakes, caterers... Oh the nightmare!!! Ziggy can't even make it through a normal engagement!
  24. Very good log Sammy!!
  25. "Hallo, my name is Deiter and welcome to Sprockets!" ROFL!!! I had forgotten about Sprockets.. The only thing I would change would be to make Dac a goddess... oh wait... she already is....
