  1. You mean people would let a little thing like a hurricane stop them from simming?? Shame on them!
  2. The days I am at work I check it several times throughout the day when the bosses aren't looking. My off days I might check in the evenings before my Academy, or if I have a few spare moments....
  3. Anyone ever hear of David Bowie?
  4. So, now I am just a demi-god? Weeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.....see if I ever give you a cushy job on one of my sims again!!!!!!!!! :D
  5. Anyway.. thanks for thinking of us ndak.. it was fun. But it was me talking to myself, saving the day, and getting us cheesecake. If for no other reason, you should come to late night Sunday acads... Kbear and I give out cheesecake...
  6. Gee.. and here I thought that sim was me and Kbear. Guess it was Moose in disguise. Fine Dac.. since the XO's can handle it, I have that fifth of tequila from Moose, I say ... MARGARITAS!!!!
  7. I'll take Posidon. ;) Ziggys alter ego on the Arcadia spent some time on a frigate (it was a colony that used old type sailing ships). So that fits too. And I can be stormy.... Oh and Moose.. I'll take that fifth of tequila now...
  8. Well, I met Quest, my spouse, through simming. I have also made some very good friends through different ships. And, of course, the Arcadia has in the past had gatherings, so we are a pretty tight crew. :D BTW, Moosie.. I have some flamingos for you!!!
  9. Oh, I understand Images. Not saying that every day should be ignored.. I am sure there is some tragic event connect to every day of the year. But not all for us. I know there are major days of tragedy in every country that don't always effect us here. There are just a few days of tragedy in this country that I am amazed people *forget* about. And yes, we do need to move on. I get tired of seeing fresh flowers at all the little crosses along the highway near me. But for the people connected to those who died, its important.
  10. I'll never forget when some friends announced they were getting married on Dec 7. I was so shocked.. and even mentioned the signifigance of the date. The bride (who has a masters degree) was clueless. The groom, who was a child in the 40's and remembers growing up during that time, was aware of the date, but was allowing his bride to choose the date. Since it so many years later, neither thought it was a big issue. And I suppose it wasn't. Next year when 9-11 falls on a Friday I am sure there will be weddings happening. Personally, as a member of the fire and medical field, I can't watch a lot of the documentaries and such that are related. When someone I work with on Thursday morning said *I wish they would quit with the 9-11 stuff* everyone just stared. Yes, history has a way of becoming... history. No longer a current event, it becomes merely a footnote, or a significant event to be discussed by history students. Sad when its an event that changed a nation, and impacted the world.
  11. Is that the Arcadia's former crewmember Knollwatcher??????
  12. can I write the gossip column???
  13. Only for one academy sim. And I ain't saying who gave him that promotion..
  14. I've never really understood that ::Scratches head:: If you have all your character names in your siggy, why would you have to create a whole new registration name? Throws off the number of real people who've registered, IMO. Wow Grom!! I hit 200!! Thanks for pointing it out, cause I didn't notice. :( I actually created Major StarDust, since that was my original. And then I created a seperate one as a GM, so that when I post my logs its not as a GM, but as my character. Not trying to throw off the member count. :D And Grommie, I like your idea of post counters in the profile.
  15. While I think the majority of us do strive for quality posts, I know I have seen posts that can't be anything more than padding. A lot of use more than one name to post, so we would never have an accurate count. I never really bother to look, so doing away with them wouldn't bother me in the least. If it happened, I am sure there would be screams of protest. :(
  16. Hey Trichon, Oklahoma is just an extension of Texas. :) Spent lots of time there, my fathers family is from Ardmore.
  17. Hm...Ziggy...what's wrong with this picture? From paper company to firefighter? ::pencils him in with the counselor:: Actually, we made siding and doors. My job was paying for all the wood products we bought to make the siding and doors with. :) But I guess it does sound funny.
  18. oooo.. I get a day off!!!
  19. Hmm.. years ago in a galaxy far far away.. oh, wait.. sorry. ::clears throat and gets back on track::: Ok, so years ago in another sim forum (and practically another life) I took the basic idea of the Deltans from ST:TMP and built on it. Created everything from govt to social structure, etc, etc, etc mostly because they had always intrigued me and there was nothing about them in the encyclopedia or elsewhere. And I saw people playing them that had not bothered to read what info there was, and were just butchering what was Trek lore. Anyway, I guess personally I really identified with them. Logical but passionate. :) Ziggy on the other hand is Human through and through and all Marine. :D
  20. I think everyone knows this.. I'm from Texas. Unfortunately I now reside in Kalifornia. But its pretty here. :)
  21. Blu.. I am awake at 7am. However, I am not functioning til about 11. I should have clarified that. But then, notice I posted that before 11 am!!
  22. Gee.. jack of all trades ain't up there for all us GMs that fall there. :) I started college pre-vet and found that chemistry and I just didn't have.. well, chemistry. So I switched to history and english lit. One day I might actually break down and finish college.. I have attended 5 so far, and have enough credits to be a junior, but no one will take me past a sophmore...and I just don't do well with *traditional* type schooling. Anyway.. I have worked as a gas station manager, assistant horse trainer (and general barn helper), and used to be a certified vet tech. Not to mention working hauling hay, colt breaking, waiting tables, and the usual college age jobs. I finally used all my computer experience and training to get a real job.. working as a purchasing assistant for a major company, Masonite, a wholly owned subsidiary of International Paper. I did that for 2 years, before deciding I really wanted to persue a fire career. I was injured in a car accident on my way to work, and ended my fire career. So I moved in fire dispatch. I used to be a volunteer firefighter, and our department had an ambulance that I used to be an EMT on. No longer volunteering (I don't have the time.) Dumbass.. I was just down your way on a fire. Spent a week in lovely Morgan Hill. And now ya'll are burning the world up again!!!
  23. Work days... alarm goes off at 6:30, but depending on when I got to bed I am either up or I hit the snooze once or twice. At work by 7:40. 12 hour shifts, assuming there is no major emergency that keeps me over. Of course, this is working days. I go to nights in a month or so (we rotate 2-3 times a year) and then it all changes!!! When I am on nights I will miss the Arc every other week. Days off.. all depends on what is going on. I try to give Colonel Quest at least one day off and get up to feed the horses and all the barn chores. I am not a morning person, and I don't really wake up til about 11. :)
  24. Cool pic Cadet. Hey, you think you could change your font color?? Really hard to read.
  25. Mine was the Academy where Fred and Dac played my psycotic/split personality computer and destroyed us all.
