Seems to me like it would be a lot easier to just say something like March 15 and Oct 30 rather than this second Sunday in March or first Sunday in November unless it is a leap year or the AFC won the Super Bowl and it is a bear market or you are in what will most likely be a Red state and the groundhog sees his shadow unless either a Vacation or American Pie movie comes out that summer-type thing.
  2. "Welcome to the STSF Academy! I will be your GM this evening."
  3. 'Tis but a flesh wound!"
  4. I never understood this human fascination of stuffing stale breadcrumbs up a dead bird's butt and then eating it.
  5. I saw Battlestar Galactica: Razor in a movie theater Monday night. It was so cool! Especially if you remember the original Cylons. Precip is jealous! :)
  6. When an out-of-towner covers his license plate to avoid traffic light photographs, local residents take the law into their own hands.
  7. I'm going as Borat - and not the "This suit is black... not!" outfit either, the other one.
  8. So? You can't read anyway, what are you worried about?
  9. I think the Trek franchise has already been "made". If people haven't made their minds after more than 20 years in syndacation, 4 spinnoffs (counting TAS), 10 and now 11 movies, and a host of video games, comic books, a theme park in Las Vegas, novels, and who knows how many fan works - some staring the original actors - if they haven't been convinced by now they aren't going to be. Whether Star Trek XI sucks or not is another issue, but I think Trek's place in history is solid.
  10. I found out a friend of mine is pregnant. I'm so happy for her but I'm also sad for her. She throws a wine and chocolate party every February but her baby is due in March.
  11. Basements You know, with this word association thing we are coming dangerously close to an actual topic.
  12. My computer crashed over a week ago. It took several trips to the repair shop to get it repaired. I had to replace an 80GB hard drive with a 300 GB one - and I was nowhere close to even using 80GB before. When they reinstalled the operating system they also put on some internet security program I had never heard of before - and it worked, too. It wouldn't let me get online at all. Finally I figured out what it was doing and uninstaled it. I had about 100 critical updates to download and install. Even with a high-speed connection it took all night. The last 10 or so I had to install one at a time. Then I had some problems reactivating my Norton stuff. I finally got on line and fully protected an hour ago. The good news is before my computer wasn't upgradeable to Vista and now it is because of the additional hard drive space. It isn't worth it however since the computer itself is about 5 years old.
  13. Rock beats scissors!
  14. OK, I saw it, but I was disappointed. It seemed like all the guests were poking fun at each other, and especially George Takei, instead of Shatner. It was almost as if they were roasting Takei instead. And what the *(%&$* was Andy Dick doing?
  15. It was to save money on makeup. ::tackles Kroells::
  16. "OK, you use this computer for the rosters, this other one for the chat logs, that one controls the macros..."
  17. Official mascot of the RES Talon
  18. I actually wrote into my character's bio an awareness of an activity around him called "simming".
  19. You can also do a little research and ask the GMs what positions they have open. Some will tell you and some won't but if you can identify a ship you like with a vacant position you like it is that much easier for Personnel to say yes.
  20. I wanted OPS, but I was playing HELM when I graduated. When I was assigned to the Reaent I was HELM but later transfered to HOPS. A couple months later, still an Ensign, I joined the Qob-Lakota as CENG. Yup, I was a Department Chief and the lowest ranked person on the ship at the same time. Later on we got an AENG who eventually became a GM. However, he was still an Ensign in my department and I still got to boss him around. ;) It works out though. OPS and ENG have a lot in common. Our OPS is usually not on the bridge, and I am usually not in Main Engineering, so I usually play OPS anyway. Oh, yeah, I am also a fighter pilot on the Reaent, the twin of my earlier HOPS character, although the fighter pilot character thinks he is an only child. Oh, yeah, he is half Romulan and doesn't know it. Eventually I need to have him stumble on his brother's records, and the brother knew he was half Romulan, but haven't found a way to do it yet.
  21. Reparations for what? You don't even play a Vulcan.
  22. Our condo pool was supposed to be done with repairs in February. It is almost September. The air conditioning gave out in our unit. It is 90 degrees out at night. Life sucks.
  23. I don't think it makes a difference, it tastes like crap wherever you are. (Been there, done that, patrolled the "Z", earned a few ribbons, etc.)
  24. I've always had a thing for redheads.
  25. Got a little Captain in you?
