  1. Is there a way we can find out in advance which Academy sims you and A9 will be hosting? I've stayed alive more often than I have died and I don't want to blow my stats.
  2. Uh, Garnoopy, it's spelled C-A-L-E-N-D-A-R.
  3. (Found smeared with bio-matter on an observation room wall) A great adventure is waiting For you on up ahead. Hurry onward engineer Or you will soon be dead! The journey now before you May be long and filled with woe, But you must escape the ceiling pass So your story can be told! Ensign Van Roy journeyed on A distance far and fast, To find a safe way out of The kidnapers' ceiling pass. The road ahead is very full Of danger, fear and fright, But push on Ensign Van Roy With all of your Vulcan might! Your shipmate LtJg Messner Lies somewhere way ahead, But if you look back engineer Your crew will soon be dead! Young Chief Engineer Van Roy The time is growing late, But if you slow down now You will seal the QoB crew's fate. Follow Messner's tapping sounds! They will help you guide the way. There's still a lot of ground to cross Inside the ceiling so gray. Ahead of you lies adventure And your strength still lies within, But freedom from the cell of doom Is the treasure you will win! (Lemmiwinks, Lemmiwinks, Lemmiwinks!)
  4. I'm glad you liked it. I better get my ship's "Best Log of the Year" award for this!
  5. I can leave my home computer logged in while I'm at work if it will help.
  6. You mean we actually have Academy graduates who have never died? Ever?
  7. ((Remember, the away team does not know what is going on aboard the Reaent. We don't know who is covering who's position or who the new crewmen are. My last paragraph is written with that in mind.)) This is now officially the longest away mission in my Starfleet career, and it doesn't look like it will end anytime soon. The storm has dissipated at our location but is still raging in the upper atmosphere, making flight and communications impossible. We have also heard Ensign Kroells complain about not having any pillows on hand to mask Shamor's snoring. That having been said our immediate situation is slightly improved. We were able to safely power the Tyderium for communications and flight, both unsuccessful, but we can at least power the replicators and exit the craft. The radio is set on continuous broadcast and I have routed any incoming mesages to my comm badge. A break in the storm allowed us to continue our reconnaissance mission of the apparently abandoned Romulan structure. I know why I was chosen for this mission. I am the designated pilot for the shuttle, the closest thing to an engineer available at the time this mission began, and I'm the only one on the crew who understands Romulan. However, I feel I have outlived my usefulness on this mission My expertise could be more valuable elsewhere. I'm a trained bridge officer - a scarce commodity these days - and I am needed there as well. As far as we know there is still no CENG. None of the Ensigns are ready to take over that department. I have been away from the OPS station for longer than I am comfortable with. Garnoopy is manning my station but with Shamor down here he is the ranking security officer, an important job this close to Romulan space. I'm sure there has been some emergency shuffling of positions but I'm worried that when I return I'll have to reset all the ship's systems from scratch and take orders from Dr. Studley and the Two-Minute-Warning guy!
  8. You sure you don't mean his Viagra?
  9. No improvement, huh?
  10. What about that ship in Monty Python's Life of Brian?
  11. Besides, in combat is when you need to think the most!
  12. True, but in just about every way that mattered the NCC-1701A was identical to NCC-1701, and had a crew that was already familiar with that class of ship. When we saw the Prometheus in one episode it had no crew, 1 EMH (played by Andy Dick ;) ), and was experimental even then. Is there really enough info to base a sim on?
  13. (Scribbled on a cardboard box by wristlight in a shuttle without power) Ridire, Shamor, Kroells, and I are trapped in the Tyderium waiting for the storm to pass. What Ridire sought to gain by beaming down is beyond my ability to apply logic to. The ship knows nothing they didn't know before. The already short-handed bridge crew is missing another person. If I understand the command rank structure correctly Dr. Matthews is the Acting XO, and she isn't even a bridge officer. There is no telling what Garnoopy is doing to my OPS station. Worst of all, when - in a moment of bad judgement - I let Ridire pilot the shuttle he forgot to make the very important "Beep Boop" noise with the keychain! ;) For lack of any way to proceed with our mission we decided to break out Kroells' deck of cards. In the interest of good relations I let the rest of the away team win a couple hands. This turned out to be a bad idea, as the rest of the team was surprised to discover that Vulcan males are superior to Terran males in more ways than just logic. It will suffice to say that Vulcan "longevity" is not limited to chronological age. ::): While we were putting our clothes back on it occurred to me that it has been some time since my last Pon Far. Should it happen on this away mission... well, I'm reminded of the Human phrase "Don't go there!". I will have to remember to discuss this situation with Lt. Matthews when we are back on board. In the meantime, this experience is bringing out a streak of claustrophobia in me. Since powering the shuttle in this storm will short our systems, including communications, replicators are off-line. I discussed our situation with the rest of the team. I presented the possibility of food scarcity. I informed the team that, under these circumstances, cannibalism is an honorable and logical alternative to death by starvation. Rank has it's privileges, so I discussed with Shamor how to best prepare Kroells for the eventuality, who began to look a little like this --> :D At this point Ridire said "Knock it off, Van Roy, there's plenty of food and we've only been here an hour!" We went back to playing cards. Ensign Van Roy Operations Chief
  14. Now why can't we put a picture of THAT on the website?
  15. Can you put up some stock photos of Brittney Spears or Natalie Portman or someone interesting like that? I mean, these people in the photos now are all in business clothes! How many of us really sim like that?
  16. Not enough to spell either ;)
  17. and the other half related to my theoretical hair loss, yes. In theory you had hair?
  18. Well, let's be honest. Half of these are related to Garnoopy's 500th post thread.
  19. IQ is determined by mental age / chronological age X 100. Using this formula a long-lived Vulcan should be dumb as a doornob.
  20. What happens to me sometimes is it will lock me out, but it will keep my chat name as a "ghost". As long as that ghost name is up I can't log in as that name.
  21. Well, I think both Kirk and Riker have explored plenty of "strange, dirty places" if you know what I mean :;):
  22. Actually, I have a new favorite ship now. Anyone remember the Mel Brooks movie Spaceballs? That big long ship Spaceball One that goes on forever and ever that can go to Ludicrous Speed and become a Transformer? That's what I want. ;)
  23. Well I am sitting on the fence - and I would very much like to move off it because it's a barbed wire fence and I got a sharp point digging into my rectum. ;) My thoughts: 1) 5th in ratings with only 30% of the channels showing it that normally would is not that bad. 2) EVERY new series has reruns occasionally. This season's South Park had only 4 new episodes too. 3) EVERY new Star Trek series has to find it's niche, and sometimes it can take a while. TNG didn't get good until "Best of Both Worlds." VOY didn't really need an incubation period, but TOS didn't really get noticed until after it got cancelled! DS9 just sucked. 4) We need to see more scenes with Hoshi naked, and that brown-haired crewman that has the hots for Flox isn't bad either. 5) Flox has already gotten annoying. I mean like Jar Jar Binks annoying. They should not have tried to replace Neelix - I mean really, they shouldn't have. 6) You can tell the budget commitment from Paramount ust isn't there on this one. 7) The Temporal Cold War could be very effective (from a literary standpoint) to correct some of the inconsistencies of the Star Trek timeline(s) and explain things like how Kahn and co. took over the planet in the 1990s, fought a nuclear World War III, and was shot into space without anyone knowing about it. Sadly, all the Temporal Cold War is being used for is a fallback of the writers when they run out of ideas.
  24. I think it is a PeopleLink problem. I've tried a couple other non-Star Trek chat rooms that use PeopleLink and they are having the same problem.
  25. For those of you old enough to remember the ORIGINAL Star Wars Trilogy I was thinking of that big arrow-shaped ship in Empire and Jedi.
