  1. YES! Get down to Cobra Kia & Jeep now and YOU *can* own a brand new Kia TODAY!
  2. Riven, While you are logged into these forums, at the top of the screen click on "live chat" and it should allow you to enter the chatroom. Your message board login also works as your chat login. :D If you have any other problems, reply and we'll troubleshoot from there. Make sure you are putting in your full login name and not your nickname. (If applicable.) Also make sure to enable cookies for this site in your browser and firewall. That sometimes will cause the error.
  3. Make sure you also downloaded and installed the GTK libraries for The Gimp. Otherwise it won't work. You're a brave man for using paint. Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, etc... all have free trials if you need something quick.
  4. I use both only because I have to use IE for work and some sites, but prefer Firefox. Especially because of the add-ons. My top faves are NoScript, Adblock Plus, Flashblock, and Split Browser. :) Although I often use IE Tab when I can get away with not having to launch IE.
  5. "He said it was slap a co-worker day."
  6. My feelings on Bryan Adams and the early 90s is that Canada owes us an apology (If not compensation for emotional damages.) for that. That and Avril Lavigne. <sp> As for a good cover: I do mirror those feelings with Johnny Cash's Hurt. I liked NIN's version but Johnny's was more moving. But that's just me. :D The Eagles, Hell Freezes Over version of Desperado. ::looks at iPod:: Check! ;) In reference to your observation Vatel, it's really a matter of perspective. It wasn't pleasant music. But considering his life experiences, the music was supposed to be that way. Some people could understand that, and that is why they like their music. ::shrug:: To each their own. It's not music for everyone. And at least on my part, I can respect your opposite point of view. :) They're making a political statement on Minutes to Midnight. :/ ::sigh:: I like it.., but I still like Hybrid Theory & Meteora better.
  7. Apologies for the necropost. Life gets in the way. I could get into the intricacies of all minutiae that pose problems as to whether or not it's feasible to sim in SL. Though I won't because there isn't enough alcohol in my house to make my head stop hurting for thinking that hard about it. So I'll just overview a few things that I'm aware of... There are other 3D worlds out there. But when put into comparison with the flexibility to create content and actually do more than just text chat, SL seems to be the more comprehensive choice. But if you're bored and want to check them out: http://www.there.com Http://www.activeworlds.com - http://www.outerworlds.com http://www.worlds.com http://www.multiverse.com (Personally speaking, I don't like this one at all.) And a side note, if anyone needs help customizing an avie, or general SL questions just shoot me a PM here or an IM in SL. My SL name is the same here. Tyana Merosi. - Just don't ask me about scripting unless you want me to point you to the SL scripting forum or the LSL wiki. As for the Caitian/Cat, it's possible. Moving ears, tail, and all. :) I'm sure I could have gone into overkill and made it look better, but at 2 am when I did that I was just too damn lazy. Regardless, it's still possible without having to play a furry. <-- See MB avatar. :) Also you can have combat missions in SL using an RCS/Roleplay Combat Script. Some places sell them, there might still be one or two RPGs that give out free ones. Although I'm not aware of any currently. I know there used to be some. Maybe if someone has an older account they could look through if not for a/the script then maybe for a combat script that was free. - I'll take a look on my main avie and see what she has but no promises. Sadly there is a lot of crap in that inventory. As for not meeting the requirements, SL will tell you when you try to install and/or run it. Always check the specs on all 3D worlds. The bottom 3/4 in that list don't carry as heavy requirements. Though the trade off is that they don't have as many advantages as SL. There.com isn't as bad with requirements when compared to SL. But it also has some steeper requirements for the system than those listed below it. (Although there is a way to bypass the hardware checker if you know that your system can run it, when it says it can't. - My old computer could run it and the hardware checker said it couldn't. I bypassed and things went fine.) But There is not as flexible nor as cheap when it comes to creating content. The land issue still poses a problem in all those places. If I was even insane enough to attempt to try a sim in SL, I would check see what private sandboxes were around. Maybe see if some of the more social sandbox land owners would be willing to help. I wouldn't try it in a Linden run sandbox unless I was willing to put up with griefers, or willing to risk taking a ban for orbiting someone. But whatever the decision might be; If I was faced with the decision then maybe I'd look into someone starting an STSF group in SL if not just for STSFers but maybe for recruiting. Cause once in a while... people do meander on the internets outside of SL. Worst case with an SL group is someone tries to sim in SL and uses a Sim named group IM as the chat room to 'hear through walls or over long distances' which seemed to be questionable at some point during this thread. Okay, whatever your decisions are.. good luck. Lurking is calling me back, gotta answer it. ^.^
  8. :) My iPod thanks you as the list of songs on it could mean that it'd be considered bipolar. :) But Nevermind's popular tracks were more mainstream/machine. That's why I said if you really want to get into Nirvana... In Utero is a good choice.
  9. Evanesence Lithium is nothing like Nirvana Lithium. :/ I like both songs though. If you really want to get into Nirvana then listen to In Utero for some of the best of Nirvana. Don't get me wrong, I like Nevermind too... but I haven't been able to listen to Smells Like Teen Spirit since 95. They played it out so much that now it just makes me cringe. :/ The Unplugged in NY is also a good one to check out. It has one of the best live versions of "Something in the Way" that I've heard. I'm not a huge fan of theirs in the way that some people are, but they have some really good tunes. :)
  10. Root> I was accepted to M.I.T. He had a full scholarship to Yale. Tattoo> Then we started simming and loved it. Couldn't get enough. Started playing every day. Both> And it changed our lives!
  11. You should try Pad Thai... just don't go back to Vietnam to get it. :P :)
  12. Ick... No Subway. I have one behind my house and when they get busy all I can smell is that crap. Don't get me wrong but my house shouldn't smell like a sub shop. :) The Quiznos.. well I don't go to the close one cause it had a Hep A outbreak at a certain point a while ago. Wasn't too appealing even minus it's SoBe beverage assortment when I went in there a few months ago. :P (Gotta love Downtown Crossing establishments.) Thinking about that more, I won't eat from the actually subway (T) either. Especially with a certain station (North Station and it's never ending mystery stench.) reeking something ungodly. :) Damn subway stations. Speaking of subways and trains; did anyone hear about the woman in Australia that sued for sneaking into a train yard and attempting to jump on a moving train and losing her leg? Aside from claiming that she was "intellectually handicapped" (Reading level of about a 4th grader.) She sued the company for not securing the yard and the broken fence and won 850,000. And that was after the judge cut the award in half for her not having common sense. :P
  13. Well if you upt it that way... Here's the idea: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000854/filmoseries#tt0106145 Then might as well do this: 1 shot everytime you hear Majel as the computer. 2 if she's actually in the episode. 3 if you hear her voice as anything outside of the computer. (Example: Narration) :) :P Modify as you see fit.
  14. Favorite weapon in an Italian sub is the hot peppers like the ones you get from Cosi. (Not really a sub but it's the only Italian I like so far.) But meh, I've always been a meatball w/american cheese sub kinda person.
  15. Haha! I wish. Where I work... we're lucky if we can leave when the fire alarm goes off. :P :)
  16. Just look at the 'bright side' of things. You can always get the satisfaction that you do a job well done. :) (Assuming that you're not a "wicked slackah" as they tend to say around here.) Although more money is always better, of course. :P
  17. Next on American Bald Eagle Idol Lighten up while you still can. Don’t even try to understand. Just find a place to make your stand. And take it easy.
  18. I agree.
  19. Everybody needs a break once in a while. Take SNL as an example. That's a show that's been non-stop for over three decades. Everyone goes through periods where they watch it religiously then they change cast or writers and it sucks for a while and people stop watching it. But eventually when there is another change and it gets better you start watching again. Trek is more of a forced hiatus as opposed to an optional one (as in the SNL reference) but it's needed. How many times have you stopped playing a game for a while because you got bored with it, then went back an unspecified amount of time later? Of course when you go back things have changed. Some for the better, others not. And yet still not to forget the constant things that have remained unchanged. Soaps recycle storylines and Trek is starting to do that. In an age of recycling successful content into repackaged crap I'd like to see it rest for a while until the era concludes. Next thing you know someone will have a meeting with TPTB and start writing Trek in the Lost plotlline format with all the unanswered questions from the start eventually unfolding. Meh... I'm tired so I'll keep it short. That and I also became bored with Lost halfway through last season. Maybe if they've got to recycle something, that kind of writing and plotline is having it's 15 minutes of fame. I'd still rather see it take a power nap. Spoiled? Possibly. All a matter of perspective. Look at all the people who wanted something new with Trek. It's a good example that sometimes getting what you want doesn't mean you're going to get it exactly how you'd like or as you wanted it. Can't have everything. Now since it's my third day off... I'm off to power nap.
  20. Have you ever seen a Book Mark?
  21. "Involved" sounds like a really nice way of saying "convoluted."
  22. Very nice. A lot more work than I'm willing to do. But nice! You should get the okay to cross-post this in Avatars too. :D
  23. HA! I knew one was missing!
  24. They have services to help you with that problem you know. YOu'd rather be addicted to cheese. Although I'm not sure which type.
  25. Okay a correction as well. They moved some of the items and I don't know where the free uniform went to. But if you need one send me an offline IM in SecondLife and I will give you one. :D
