  1. Kind of interesting?? heheh. My advice on graduating would be to simply throw yourself into the sim. Be proactive within reason and work with your department and your DCO. I beefed up on technobabble during my graduation sim and I'm no technobabblist. I think the GM's can usually tell if a player is ready by their gameplay rather than their 'heroic' or 'unheroic' actions. If you have a handle on the game and can work well within the rules, then that's kinda cool. Of course, I wouldn't want to second guess the GM's. As Kansas mentioned, the Moose tips are a huge help in graduating. That said, I really really enjoyed my academy days and still sim whenever I can. I wouldn't have minded being stuck in the academy for years! (Although I have to say, the longer plotlines in the advanced sims are pretty fantastic!) Good luck!
  2. I would love to see a DS9 movie made or even a TV Movie. Anything really. I'd settle for a VOY movie (if I had to :D ). DS9 was always my personal favourite and I could never figure out why it wasn't as popular as the ship-based Treks.
  3. Go on. You know you want to....
  4. Indeed, indeed. Always make sure your redshirt is immaculate. It's the last thing you'll wear
  5. Mary Poppins leaves her earthly belongings for another rip roaring babysitting adventure!!
  6. Hehehehe. Whatever floats your boat
  7. Hello and welcome to the 'Cad! Once you've settled in, be sure to head to the Redstar Nightclub for your first Warp Core Explosion and some mellow tunes! And there's nothing shameful about a redshirt death!! See you in the academy sims!!
  8. May I have 'Blarney is not just a pretty stone' :D Thanks!
  9. Ah, I only deal in news, not rumours. (Although the fact that you know I have the links makes me think you are part of an illuminati consortium monitoring my keystrokes and observing my anti establishment activities whilst eating doughnuts from some white utilities van somewhere down my street) Um...no. No warp drive rumours as yet, or indee, free energy, assassination conspiracies, UFO cover ups or lizard people posing as Royalty. Not on my shift!
  10. Moon Lander competition. Anyone up for a four? http://dsc.discovery.com/news/briefs/20060...lander_spa.html and the Indian/US Moon research http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/4753951.stm Meteoric carbon... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4973696.stm and finally... 13. Now now Mr Sulu, don't be putting em off before they've even beamed down :D
  14. Welcome to the Academy!! Everyone will follow on in their greetings. Some are nice, some are just plain odd :D but welcome to the community! It's a good crew, and I've got to get them ho...no wait a minute, it's a good crew here and everyone makes ya feel welcome! I'll see you in the sim tomorrow night if you're there, and then in the Redstar Nightclub on Saturday night. I'll buy you your first WCE - every new cadet needs one to kick start their career I reckon! :D
  15. A belated Happy Birthday!! Which DVD's did ya get?? :D
  16. And now, introducing the Slingatron... http://www.defensetech.org/archives/002387.html
  17. Cadet's Log, Finn Halek. Voice access only. Begin recording. Finally arrived at the academy and in the nick of time. The debt collectors on Rigel 7 had started to really home in on me. I just hope Nickolas can hold them off with the gold sprayed lead latinum. I mean, how much should someone have to pay for a set of dilithium crystal tipped darts anyway? Speaking of which, packed the darts in my sock drawer. No one's gonna want to go snooping in there. Met up with Kim Chan in the refectory. She seems to be doing ok, a little homesick maybe. Good to see her after all this time. Tonight is the redstar nightclub, and my first time there. I've heard plenty about it though. I just need to make sure I don't get too hammered to pull it together for the academy sim afterwards. Oh, that reminds me. Encrypt word 'DARTS'. Log to shortcut to 'SOCKS' section on voice command only. End recording.
  18. Last Day in the Academy.... Finn walked through the streets, throwing looks behind him to make sure he wasn't being followed. Since he'd left the Academy Campus he'd had the feeling someone was watching him, but figured that was probably his guilty imagination. Dressed in civilian clothing, who would possibly be watching him anyway? Ducking down an alleyway away from a couple of Security officers, Finn paused until he saw them pass. Getting caught red handed would not do well for his posting, wherever his posting would be. A whisper from the doorway to his right caught his attention. Turning quickly, he saw Gen, the Ferengi acquisition merchant, beckoning him inside the doorway. Gen disappeared back inside quickly. Finn took a look around and satisfied there was no one watching, followed the ferengi inside. The room inside was basic to say the least. A small table, two chairs and a small box on the table. Gen was already dancing around the box on the table. He looked up as Finn entered. 'Did you bring them?' asked Gen. Finn nodded, suddenly feeling like a true criminal and hating himself for it. 'Let's see them then!' grinned the ferengi. Finn took a seat and unfolded the dilithium tipped darts from the cloth sock. He handed one to Gen who held it up against the light from the doorway. 'Mmmmm, lovely.' whispered Gen. 'Almost pure in the facets.' Finn didn't comment. This all felt wrong. He was a Starfleet Officer now, this was just wrong. 'Y'know what?' began Finn, 'maybe we should call this whole thing off.' He began to stand and the Ferengi whirled around on him. 'No!' stated the ferengi. '16th rule of acquisition. A deal is a deal! You brought the darts and I brought the latinum.' He pushed his face into Finn's. 'Do you have any idea how hard it is to get Starfleet transport onto Earth? If it was easy, your friend Nicholas would have made it instead of you.' Finn's temper flared up and he grabbed the ferengi by the throat. 'You know about Nicholas?' he asked. 'Where is he?' Gen slowly released himself from Finn's grip. '59th Rule of Acquisition,' he said, rubbing his throat carefully, 'Free advice is seldom cheap.' Finn brought his temper under control. 'What do you want?' he asked. Gen stepped away from him and opened the black box on the table. It was filled with latinum. 'Well, firstly,' began Gen 'You want to offload your precious darts, and as a starfleet ensign I'm pretty sure you shouldn't be harbouring stolen property. I'd say that puts this bargain in my favour. Shall we say 80 strips of latinum?' Finn knew they had been worth more, but Gen was right. This was the last chance he'd have to make something of a bad situation. He nodded. 'Good,' said Gen. 'Secondly, you want to know about Nicholas and that's gonna cost you another ten in latinum if you want the full story.' Finn nodded again. 'Seventy strips then.' he said. The Ferengi rubbed his hands gleefully and the two of them sat down. Fifteen minutes later, Finn left the small room and stepped back out into the alleyway, the black box in his hands. His face set, he began making his way back to the campus. Inside the little room, Gen looked over his new set of dilithium tipped darts. '3rd Rule of Acquisition,' he said to himself, grinning. 'Never spend more for an acquisition than you have to.' He grinned again and began packing up his spoils.

  23. Yeah, it looked okay on photoshop, but didn't transfer well to this screen. I'll brighten them and use the white text like the Talon's text. I'll update it tomorrow night.
  24. Ok, different tack entirely. Still with all the sims, but no screen grabs....
  25. As long as it's on a Tuesday at around 9am. :D (that way we get the advantage for a change with the time zones!!)
