His Psi abilities rate at around a p8, although he rarely utilizes his abilities. Psychological Information Ariago is good mental health, although the death of his sister about seven years ago has left him some what introverted, preferring to be alone most times. It should be noted, that despite the death of his entire immediate family, he holds little resentment for the causes of them, and they seem to cause little to no issue with him. Personal History Born and raised on Betazed until the age of eleven, Ariago had a pretty normal life until around 2366. At that time, his father, Argus Sans, Captain of the USS Kyushu was one of the forty ships involved in the Battle of Wolf 359. Of the forty ships, only one, the USS Endeavor survived. Argus was among the 11,000 casualties of the battle. He is not believed to have been assimilated, due to the fact that entire saucer section of the New Orleans class Kyushu was destroyed by Borg cutting beams. Following her husbands death, Shara began to separate herself from society. At one time, she was one of the most popular teachers at the academy, but after Argus’s death, she gained the honorary title of “Ice Queen”, failing many students that didn’t meet her rigid standards. During this time, Shara buried herself in work as a means to escape for the realization of Argus’s death, and often times neglected Ariago. During this time, she also made an ultimatum with her daughter Thalia demanding that she resign from the academy, which she was near to graduating, fearful of losing another family member to Starfleet. When Thalia refused, her mother cut off all contact with her, disowning her as a daughter. In a final act of rebellion, Thalia took the then eleven year old Ariago with her as a civilian family member to her posting of the USS Bozeman (NCC-1941) which had recently been released from a temporal causality loop by the crew of the USS Enterprise-D, and was in the process of being refitted for active service. Both Ariago and Thalia never spoke with their mother again. Thalia was posted on the Bozeman as a assistant engineer, but would eventually work her way up to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, as the ships Chief Engineer. During this time, Ariago impressed not only his sister, but also the ships captain, Morgan Bateson with his engineering aptitude. Captain Bateson would eventually allow Ariago to work alongside his sister at certain times, giving him plenty of practice with the ships systems. Ariago planned to stay on the Bozeman until he was eighteen, at which time he planned to enter Starfleet academy. Thalia was thrilled, and everything was going smoothing until 2373. The Bozeman was one of the ships that participated in the Battle of Sector-001, in an attempt to defend Earth from a second Borg attack. During the battle, the Bozeman sustained heavy damage, and Thalia was killed by a exploding EPS conduit, that further damaged main engineering, causing the Bozeman to go dead in space. Ariago, along with two other surviving engineers managed to restore impulse power to the ship in time for it to maneuver away from the devastating shockwave of the exploding Borg Cube, which claimed several less fortunate ships. After the attack, the Bozeman would spend three months at Utopia Planetia, undergoing repairs and further refits. After this time, Ariago pleaded his case to captain Bateson, asking to be allowed to go to Earth and enter Starfleet academy. However, due to his age at the time, there would be no way he would be admitted to the academy. Instead, Bateson granted him a field promotion to crewman. During his service on the Bozeman, which saw only limited service during the Dominion War, Ariago’s mother was killed during the Dominion Occupation of Betazed. Captain Bates would offer the seventeen year old the ability to take an extended leave of absence, but he refused, having been estranged from his mother for six years already. Her death did not affect him nearly as much as Thalia’s whom Ariago had developed a very strong telepathic bond. The abrupt and rather brutal loss of that link caused Ariago to place intense mental shields around himself, determined never to allow himself to hurt like that again. After two years of serving on the Bozeman, Ariago was finally admitted to Starfleet academy. Although he has not seen captain Bateson since leaving, the two keep in contact, and consider each other good friends, Morgan having acted as a sort of father figure to him. Ariago received exceptional grades in the academy, taking a broad range of classes in engine design, warp theory and several other courses, receiving near top marks in all classes. He would graduate 6th in his class, with an immediate promotion to ensign. Ariago was then assigned to the USS Arcadia-E as an assistant engineer, during a two week shore leave the ship recently received. Personal and Service Timeline May 17th, 2357 (Earth Calendar)- Ariago is born in the Sennal region of Betazed 2366 (Stardate 44002.3)- Argus Sans and all hands of the USS Kyushu are lost at the Battle of Wolf 359 2368- Ariago is taken by his sister Thalia Sans to live with her on the USS Bozeman, NCC-1941 2373- Thalia Sans is killed in the Battle of Sector-001 2373- Ariago is field promoted to the rank of crewman by Captain Morgan Bateson 2375- Ariago enters Starfleet academy Stardate 0512.31- Promoted to the rank of Ensign, and assigned to the USS Arcadia-E.
