  1. "Wonderland!" (Part II) Log entry 02A: SD 10511.17 <NOTE: The Italicised Japanese words mentioned are translated to English in the bottom of this log. A gold star and a cookie to the first person who could tell me which anime Hideki's new friends, sister and dog are from!> A Few Days Later.... Hideki and his family stepped onto a pad with what belongings they brought with them. "We're ready for transport" Takeshi replied to the transporter chief, who nodded at them. "Aye sir. Have a good trip" the chief replied. The chief energised as Hideki took one last look at his homeland. Over dinner, Hideki's parents told him and his sister of their intent to move. "We can't stay here anymore. What we're doing is illegal under UFP Laws, so we can't ever come back to Earth” his father said. As the family beamed aboard the ship, Hideki felt bitter-sweet about the move. He was going to miss his friends and home in Osaka, but was glad to leave Earth and all of it's political corruption. "Welcome aboard. My name is Chihiro” said the girl that greeted them once they beamed aboard. “I will now lead you to your quarters, please follow me" she said as she headed towards the door. The corridors of the ship were small and felt cramped. The turbolift felt even more so with everybody packed in there. Once the lift made its short descent a few decks down, they walked through another corridor until there was a split in the hallway. “The adult and children quarters are separated. Adult’s to the left and Children’s to the right” replied Chihiro. A crewman carrying Hideki’s parents led them to their quarters. “Your quarters are located here” she said as she led them to their quarters a few doors down. Hideki and Chiyo looked around. It was pretty Spartan, Hideki thought. There were a few pieces of furniture, some chairs, two beds and two private bathrooms. While two adults would find these accommodations cramped, they were big enough for Hideki and Chiyo. “If you’re bored, there’s a children’s lounge located just down the corridor. It’s the first door to your immediate route. There’s other kids there you can meet and play with” said Chihiro. “Other kids? I want to meet the other kids” said Chiyo, once Chihiro left them. Hideki shrugged. “Eh, I don’t see why not” he said simply. With that, the two of them walked down the corridor to the children’s lounge. Again, it was small. But for a bunch of kids, it was more than adequate. Hideki counted about twenty of thirty kids, none of whom he recognized. “Heh heh heh.. Can you believe they’re still flying these things?” a girl said to them. “This old Oberth Class ship, is probably older than my grandfather” she said. “Hey! Don’t talk about the ship like that! It’s our ticket out of here” replied Chiyo. The girl snickered and put her arm around Chiyo and tousled her hair, much to Chiyo’s displeasure. “Cute kid” she said. “I’m not a kid!” whined Chiyo. “My name is Chiyo Nakamura! I’m ten years old, and I’m a high school senior. Call me Chiyo sempai!” The girl gave Chiyo a strange look. “Sem-pai?” she said questioningly. “Well my name is Tomo Takino! If you’re talking about energy, I’m the genki girl!” Tomo said proudly. “Tomo! Stop pestering the other passengers!” another girl said. “Hey, I’m just trying to be friendly Yomi” replied Tomo. Yomi sneered at Tomo. “Sorry, you’ll have to excuse my friend. She’s not right in the head” said Yomi. “Hey! There’s nothing wrong with my head!” snapped Tomo. “Too bad the same can’t be said for your fat head, Yomi!” snickers Tomo. “Shut up, baka!!” said Yomi as she proceeded to give Tomo a right smack on the head. “Such a distasteful reponse!” “Ow! Why’d you do that for?! You’re the baka!” retorts Tomo. “Anyways, my name Koyomi Mizuhara. But everybody usually calls me ‘Yomi’” she says. “I’m Hideki and this is my sister Chiyo. We’re from Osaka” “You’re from Osaka?” asks Tomo curiously. Tomo turns to another girl. “Osaka, Osaka! Come meet your fellow Osakans!” says Tomo gleefully. “Eh?....” says Osaka as she approached them. “’Osaka?’” asks Chiyo. “Yeah, she’s from Osaka too, so we call her ‘Osaka’” replies Tomo. “They’re from Osaka too?” Osaka asks. “But if there from Osaka, and I’m from Osaka, does that mean they’re called ‘Osaka’ too? “But then if that’s the case, then that means everybody from Osaka is called ‘Osaka’ doesn’t it? How can anyone tell us apart? Ahh! My head!” Osaka grabbed her head. “No. You’re the first Osakan, so you’re ‘Osaka’” Tomo said. “Wah! Everybody calls me ‘Osaka’. But I don’t want it!” complains Osaka. Changing the subject, Chiyo turned to their dog Tadakichi. “This my dog Tadakichi-san. Would be you like to meet him?” she says. The tallest teenaged girl Hideki had ever seen quickly darted towards the dog. “Is he friendly? He looks like a big dog. It wouldn’t be pretty if he tried to bite my fingers” she said quietly. Chiyo smiled. “Oh no, Tadakichi-san is very friendly. He wouldn’t bite anybody” she said. “Ahh.. I’m Sakiki. It’s nice to meet you” she says as she proceeds to pet Tadakichi in the head, who for his part just sat there. “I wonder how she got to be so tall?” Hideki wondered. Before anyone could answer another girl popped in. “Sakiki’s so tall because she’s so cool! I wish I could be like Sakiki!” she said, with a glitter in her eyes as she looked at her idol petting Tadikichi. “Geez, Kaorin! You scared the life out of me!” a really athletic girl named Kagura said. “I don’t see what the hype is about. It’s just a dog” Tomo popped in and chuckled. “Yeah, well at least it’s more popular than you. He he he..” Kagura growled and the two of them eventually started to duke it out right there. “Hey! Stop fighting you two!” Chiyo says. “Leave them be, Chiyo” says Yomi. “Maybe Kagura can teach Tomo a lesson” Just then a woman in a uniform entered the room. She was carrying an empty bottle of sake and stumbled into the room in a drunken state. She glared at Tomo and Kagura who immediately stopped fighting. She pretty much ignored the children and stumbled over towards the back. She bent down and opened the door to a hidden cooler in the back and dug around inside until she found what she was looking for – a fresh bottle of sake. The lady, who looked to be in her mid 20s, opened the bottle and took a few big swigs of sake straight from the bottle. “Ahhh!” she screamed. “That hits the spot!” she slurs. Tomo’s eyes lit up like Christmas trees. “Wow! We have sake and beer in our fridge! Let’s have a drinking contest! Of course, I’ll win.. but I’ll go easy on you all!” smiles Tomo. The lady glares at Tomo. “Shut up, you stupid kid! This isn’t for you!” she replies. Another woman, about the same age as the first enters the room. “Yukari! There you are! What are you doing? You’re supposed to be on the bridge! We’re about to depart!” Yukari turns to the new lady. “Don’t tell me what to do, Nyamo! I’m the Captain of this ship, you’re just the Executive Officer!” says Yukari. “Heh, in the shish kebab of life, I’m the chicken and you’re the green onions!” “Sigh, you’re drunk again” Nyamo replies angrily. “Come on, let’s go back to the bridge. You can rest in the Ready Room” Yukari takes another swig of sake, spilling most of it onto her uniform. “Never! I’ll drink to the end!” said Yukari. She raised her hands in the air and did a little drunken dance before collapsing to the floor. “Yukari!” Nyamo replies rushing to Captain Yukari. “Come on, get up! You can’t sleep here” says Nyamo. “Sleep, slee[“ replied Yukari. “Where’s that pillow you bought?” Nyamo sighs again and picks up Yukari over her arm. “Sorry everyone. I’m Commander Minamo Kurosawa. The Executive Officer of the SS Kamineko. “This is the Captain, Tanizaki Yukari. We’ll be departing within ten minutes, please enjoy yourselves” she said as she led Captain Yukari out of the lounge, past another man who has been sitting in the back for quite some time. He was a creepy looking man, tall and skinny with glasses. His mouth hung open as she looked at the girls. “That’s Mr. Kimura. Some kind of crewman. He’s creepy” Tomo said to Hideki and Chiyo. “What is he doing here in the Children’s Lounge?” Chiyo asked. “I don’t know” replied Tomo. “Hey! Why are you here, Mr. Kimura?” asked Tomo. Mr. Kimura with his mouth wide open looked to Tomo. “’Cuz I like high school girls and stuff!” he said, plunging the room into stunned silence. Yomi and Kagura teamed up and ushered Kimura out of the room. “Wait! If you wear your t-shirts under your pants, you’ll look more professional!” he screamed before being ushered out. “Letcher…” muttered Kagura after the job was done. Chiyo chuckled nervously, as the Kamineko began to move. “It’s gonna be a long journey in this decrepit thing” said Tomo as she looked out of the window into space. “Yes, it will indeed” said Chiyo. “I hope we can all be friends by the time we get there” Tomo grinned and patted Chiyo on the head. “By the time we get there we’ll be old ladies. There’ll be plenty of time for that” Before long the Kamineko jumped to warp, Over Tomo’s bantering Chiyo and Hideki took one last look at Earth, before it disappeared. Ahead of them, a new life with the NFA. As Tomo delightfully started to pester Chiyo, Hideki wondered if their new life to their new home would be just as adventurous as the ship ride to get there. 2. "Memories..." Log entry 02: SD 10511.16 Nakamura sighed as he reclined in his chair, pouring himself a glass of his favourite sake. With Col. Kroells and Major Mc Queen back, life on the Reaent came back to normal. Well as normal as things get here anyways. Getting them home though took alot of work and effort. Mostly on the parts of him, VRoy and the other starfighters. The apparent power of their new enemy the Breen brought for the crew of the ship to realise that they had more than Federation to look out for. He wouldn't admit this to anyone, but when Nakamura first thought about signing up for the NFA, that was pretty much all he thought he'd have to worry about. Oh, of course the Federation was still a force to be reconed with too. With much newer and more powerful ships, Starfleet was still a concern for everybody here in this fifty year old tub. Like everybody else on board the Reaent, Nakamura just couldn't agree on the principles of the corrupt United Federation of Planets. Kicking a species while they're down like that, so the American saying goes.. that is just dispicable. But the decision to defect wasn't Hideki's own. Maybe it was the sake, the more Hideki thought about it, the more his mind started to drift off to that very day.... Fifteen years ago... Osaka, Japan.... It was anotther bright and sunny day in Osaka. It was spring and all the cherry blossoms we just now beginning to bloom in the cherry blossom trees by his house. As far as houses in Osaka goes, his was one of the biggest. Thirteen year old Hideki had just finished his homework for the day and was outside playing with the family dog Tadakichi. A friendly big Great Perenysse, Tadakichi had been with the family for five years. Hideki threw the stick for him to catch when he saw his father's hovercar pull into the landing pad. Hideki's father, Takeshi Nakamura was a Federation Senator, having been on the job for about twenty years. He had a blank, expressionless look on his face. A lot more than usual. "Takeshi, your home" Hideki's mother Hitomi said. She too noticed the dour expression on Takeshi's face. "I know that look. What did Duren do now?" she asked. A conservate Senator, Takeshi never could agree with Duren's views of galactic conquest for the Federation. "Senate just approved the attack of the Klingons again. "This time, it was an outpost. There was a military base there, but for the most part, it was populated by innocent civilians. Sad thing is, was that the military base was small compared to the population of the civilians. I tried to lobby against it, but I was outvoted by 304-2. "I tell you, there's no honour with the Senate. They're all just corrupt war mongerers, right up to President Duren" Takeshi said. "Another attack? Didn't Starfleet just attack a Klingon colony last week?" asked Hitomi. "Yes" replied Takeshi. "All these needless lives lost. Mostly women and children that were the casulties. But nobody cared. 'They're all filthy Klingons anyways, they're all better off dead' is what they said" Takeshi sighed and took a sip of sake. "I tell you, I can't stand to serve for such barbarians" "But you can't the Senate. What will we do? You could get arrested and thrown in jail for your views -- or worse" replied his concerned wife. Hideki was out of view hidden by the paper doors of his traditional Japanese style house. He could hear everything with his parents none the wiser. "Which is why I've been thinking we leave Osaka and Earth" replied Takeshi. "I have connections that can get us into a ship bound for NFA space by the end of the week. We'll finally be free of Duren's tyrannical grasp" "The New Federation Alliance? We'd be criminals here.. never able to come back. I wonder how the children will take it?" replied Hitomi. "I"m sure they'll get used to it. I can tell Hideki feels the same way I do about Starfleet" "Well then.." trailed Hitomi. "I guess we'll have to tell the children over dinner" Takeshi nodded as Hitomi turned down the heat to the stove, and began to set the dishes and serve what would be a dinner Hideki would remember all their lives... TO BE CONTINUED.....
  3. "You lose" Log entry 01: SD 10511.10 "Damn it..." Nakamura muttered to himself as he sat in his fighter. Right now, he really wished he turned back to help Col. Kroells and Major Mc Queen instead of turning tail and heading back to the ship. Honestly, he thought to himself, where's the honour in that? But what's done can't be undone. Nakamura taxis his fighter back to the launch bay ready to be redeployed within a moments notice. If he could, he'd just fly through the barrier and find them himself, even though Nakamura knew better than to do that. He wasn't one to disobey orders and his antiquated starfighter mostly likely wouldn't be able to smash through, much less stand a chance against the Breen ship that captured his comrades. (Provided he somehow catches up with them). The memory of the disabled third fleet from the UFP was still etched in Nakamura's subconscious. How could the Breen disable forty-five ships like that? What happened to all the crew of those ships? Some of those ships were top-of-the-line too.. Galaxies, Akiras and even a few of the new Soverign classes. It disturbed him how powerful the Breen actually were. Obviouslly, the rescue of his lost crewmates had to be done in a logical way.. and not just by brute force alone. Nakamura taxied over to the fighterbay and killed his engines. He called up the NFA Database, and began to research what little info there was on their new foes....

And as such, he was brought up to respect his peers and superiors and live his life with honor and conviction. Brought up under the Shinto religion, Nakamura meditates before battles to bring him good luck for his upcoming battles, though he doesn’t consider himself very superstitious or religious. Formerly a politician in the United Federation of Planets, Takeshi Nakamura, Hideki’s father, became fed up with the massive corruption of the regime (as he called it) resigned from his post and moved from Earth when Hideki was 10. The elder Nakamura chartered a flight to NFA space via his connections he had, and he and his family settled onto a NFA friendly world two weeks later, where the elder Nakamura quickly ascended the political ladder to become a Senator for his region. As a youth, Nakamura loved small fighters and space craft, so when he was 18, he enrolled in the NFA Academy with help from his father, finding his niche in the Starfighter program. Nakamura’s reflexes and piloting skills were amongst the highest ever in his class. A quick study, Nakamura soon familiarized himself in every aspect of the Starfighter for every class fighter there is. He is a bright and amicable person to get to know. Trying to be as friendly as he can, Nakamura is a stereotypical Osakan, and as such he can be loud and has been known to tell a bad joke or two. Nakamura can often be found in the ship’s bar drinking and eating sushi, in his quarters listening to music, or in the holodeck playing out his action programs when off duty. Nakamura sometimes joins his crewmates for a game of poker, but remains intermediate to moderate in the game at best. Preferring blackjack over poker, Nakamura is quite good at mathematics and logic. In the fighter though, Nakamura has a reputation of showing no mercy to whomever he faces and has a very high enemy kill count to match his reputation. With a vast knowledge of every fighter in the Fleet, Nakamura feels at home in every fighter in the N.F.A.’s arsenal. As meticulous as he is in his fighter, Nakamura is as equally as thorough in research as such, he is familiar with the UFP’s fighter arsenal as well. As an officer, Nakamura is attentive to his duty, follows orders well and has proved to be a very loyal and very dependable when needed most. Nakamura is widely regarded to be a invaluable member to any crew he is assigned to. But, for the most part, much about Nakamura and his past history is unknown. While he does interact with others and is very sociable, Nakamura can be distant and mysterious at times. It’s uncertain whether this is done intentionally or not. INTERESTS: Nakamura enjoys drinking with his friends. His favorite drinks are Japanese sake and Budweiser beer, alcoholic versions. Card games also interest him, though he still hasn’t learned all the techniques to poker. Very good in blackjack and pool, Nakamura also enjoys dancing and performing in karaoke bars are also a pastime Nakamura likes to pursue. Nakamura likes Japanese pop music as well as the latest top dance hits. Very active fitness wise, Nakamura prides himself of being actively pursuing many sports and hobbies. Nakamura holds a black belt in karate, and is an expert swordsman. He owns a 17th century Japanese katana, once owned by one of his descendants, a high ranking Samurai warrior of that era. Nakamura is also proficient in the batting and first base positions in the Earth game baseball. END BIOGRAPHY
  5. "Death From Above" Thanks! :)
