  1. Happy Canada Day, eh?
  2. Because now that the US has been eliminated, a lot of Americans aren't going to care about the World Cup anymore (if they even did in the first place, given the relatively low number of responses to this thread, lol).
  3. 1-0 Ghana!
  4. Go right ahead. :)
  5. I must admit, I lol'ed. It's so quiet in Toronto now :)
  6. Arrividerci Italia! Edit: 2-1, almost 2-2 but disallowed. Looks like I spoke too soon, Italy still has a chance! Edit 2: Good effort on Italy's part. Great ending to a great game
  7. Aww, that sucks! I hope it's not too major or is at least covered by your home insurance. Thanks, it was a stupid thing to do but I'm fine! lol.
  8. Congrats on making it through U.S. :)
  9. Yeah, I felt that. I lost my balance and hit my head on a wall (I have a scratch just to the left of my eye where my glasses rubbed into my face :) ). Friggin' scary, though I bet to Californians that's nothing (5.5 Earthquake).
  10. Let's not revive 5 year old topics from the dead, please? Thanks. :)
  11. 1-1! Sorry England, but your goalkeeper is useless! What a terrible goal
  12. England scores in less than 4 minutes; not a good start Americans!
  13. The trap has sprung. The Captain thought to himself as the Challenger roared into action. After a monotonous two day wait, Seiben was about to throw in the towel and give up when the Orions finally took the bait of the decoy freighter and began to open fire at the derelict vessel. Before the freighter sustained any real damage, Seiben decided it was time to act and came at the aggressor with guns blazing, or so to speak. Now, the might of the Excelsior class ship was engaged in hot pursuit of the enemy ship. Seiben recalled his memory of his past experiences with the Orions while commanding the Cherokee. The Polaris-Class Frigate had many run ins with Orion Pirates, so the captain knew them well. With his instructions relayed to navigation and helm, the Challenger stuck to the pirates like flies to honey. Though considered one of the most powerful ships in the quadrant, and crewed by some of finest in the fleet (at least in his opinion) Seiben nonetheless knew better than to underestimate their enemy. If they were brazen enough to enter Federation space and attack two Starfleet ships, who knew what else they were capable of. To his relief, Seiben's new wife sought to retire in their quarters before the action started, so felt somewhat better she'd be relatively safe in their shared quarters one deck below. It wouldn't bode well if anything were to happen to the new Roman Ambassador to the Federation. Seiben inwardly knew that he's in deep enough trouble for marrying her in the first place. He didn't know what to expect back on Earth, but suspected it wouldn't be pretty. He'd probably find out sooner or later, though most likely emphasizing on sooner, he'd thought to himself. Though there were no rules in the Prime Directive against a Starfleet Captain marrying an alien species of a non-member world, particularly one as high ranking as his wife was, he knew some of the more hard-core traditionalist brass might make a stink about it. To what extent however, remained to be seen. He wondered if this was to be his last mission in the centre seat. STARFLEET HEADQUARTERS – SAN FRANCISCO “So you see, esteemed colleagues, something should be done about these rather outrageous course of action. Captain Rolf Seiben deliberately violated numerous Starfleet and ethical protocols marrying this high ranking member of Roman elite. Admiral Jeff Franklin had spent the better part of the morning bringing his case against Captain Seiben and his 'unwise' decision to marry the newly appointed Greater Romanus Ambassador to the Federation to members of the Federation Council. A traditionalist to the core, Jeff Franklin was a stern man who followed protocol to the letter. The imposing figure of the tall, stocky built fifty-three year old admiral had an intimidating aura about him. This aura, an excellent battle sense and a textbook intelligence meant that he quickly rose in rank throughout his three decade tenure in Starfleet. The other Council members listened thoughtfully as both sides with differing opinions both made their cases for and against the captain. The former of which, was represented by an equally tall man, smartly dressed in the crisp white uniform of a Starfleet Admiral. The man's demeanour was the stark polar opposite of Franklin's aggressive and imposing stance. The jovial and charismatic man brought out his case stating that the marriage was no threat and no violations of any written protocols. His bright blue eyes sparkled with intensity as he spoke his case to the Council. He carefully and confidently explained the complicated series of Starfleet Protocol to the members of Council, expressing the fact that his younger brother had done nothing wrong. “Furthermore, do remember that any action resulting in Captain Seiben's court martial or incarceration, would be seriously detrimental to our budding relations with Greater Rome as well as tarnish our reputation with some of our member worlds. I do ask the Council to remember that in factoring in their opinions” Admiral Hans Seiben smiled and took his seat, as he sipped his mug of fine South American coffee. The Council Members quietly conferred to themselves. Hans looked around briefly at the members, nodding back at Admiral Franklin who returned his nod with an icy glare. He smiled back and took another sip of his coffee and looked back at the council chairperson, who cleared his throat to speak. “Thank you gentlemen for your time and opinions on this case. We'll take your cases into consideration as we deliberate on a decision” replied the council chair, an old balding human with an air of wisdom around him. “This meeting is adjourned and will reconvene when Captain Seiben is able to return to Earth and state his case” Admirals Seiben and Franklin nodded silently and gathered up their belongings and left the council chambers. USS CHALLENGER Back on the Challenger, Seiben sighed as a quiet warble emanated from behind him. “Sir..” replied the communications officer, “You have an urgent message from Starfleet. I'm forwarding it now to your console.” Seiben raised a brow and quickly scrolled through the short text message. Hell of a time for a subpena, he thought to himself. But, he quickly shrugged those thoughts aside as two bright streaks came from the ship and sped towards the Orion vessel. As the wake-homing torpedoes zeroed in on their targets, Seiben hoped that the ship would still be in one piece to return back home after the dust had settled.
  14. Well it's a good thing there's plenty of good keyboards available for sale for as little as $10.
  15. It seems that most keyboards these days are getting smaller. It took quite a while to get used to the tiny keyboard that came with my Mac. Until I downloaded Steam and swapped it for a bigger one
  16. It's better than Vista, I can tell you that! ::shakes fist at Vista::
  17. I figured you might have liked that, seeing that the Pens knocked out Ottawa in the first round, lol.
  18. Well, it would be nice for a Canadian team to win the Cup for a change, even if it is Montreal. And I do tip my hat to them for beating the Caps (#1 in the NHL and defending champs Pittsburgh). As much as it pains me as a Leafs fan to say this, but Go Habs Go! (The Toronto/Montreal rivalry in the NHL is exactly the same as the Yankees/RedSox rivalry in baseball). Though, Montreal is too pretty a city to set on fire, but I imagine that's exactly what'll happen if the Canadiens do win the Stanley Cup.
  19. "I Heard it From the Grapevine" 10505.01 STARFLEET HQ, SAN FRANCISCO With an exasperated sigh, Admiral Franklin slammed down his PADD with a loud thunk. "You know Jeff, that's not a very good way to treat Starfleet property" snidely responded Admiral Hopkins. "Oh, shut up Brian" responded Franklin hotly. "Honestly, I don't know what's wrong with that family" Franklin continued. "First his older brother Hans playing it up with the women on Altoid, and now this! I swear, they both make Ambassador Zareh look like a saint!" Hopkins held up his hands as if to stop his old friend. "Whoa, whoa whoa. Let's not go there. The Seibens' personal business is their own." It was Hopkins' turn to look worried. "But still. What are we going to do about it? A Captain marrying a non-Federation species. We're not even sure if they're warp capable. I honestly don't know if this is against the rules of the Prime Directive." Hopkins was of course well-versed in the rules of the Prime Directive, but this one had him stumped. How many Captains have married a non-member species like this? None that he can think of. "Regardless of what the rules say, what if the press gets wind of this? This could be a PR Disaster for us" said Franklin. "Honestly, I don't know what Captain Seiben was even thinking" Admiral Hopkins sat at a terminal reading over the Captain's record. "Well, according to his file, he just underwent a lengthy divorce with his wife. He either wanted to re-marry quickly to fill the void, or get revenge on his wife for leaving him... or both" replied Hopkins. "That and he was probably very drunk after the party they had on 892-IV. I read about it from the Captain's own personal log about it" Franklin frowned, but nodded knowingly. "But still, what are we going to do about it? Personally, I'd love to drum him out of Starfleet. The next ship he would command is a garbage frigate out of Pluto" Hopkins shook his head. "I don't think that would be a very good move, Jeff. One, I'm sure that'll severely damage relations with us and the Romans and two, news of that would probably just be as big of a PR Disaster as the news of the marriage. We need to tread carefully on this. I'm sure Senior Command will have gotten wind of this too, and we can see what we can do about this." Franklin nodded in agreement. "Yes, I'm sure they would have too. But, I still think we should do something about this before it gets out of hand. The tabloids would have a field day on this, and that's the last thing we need right now. But at the same time, Captain Seiben shouldn't be marrying foreign species like this. It could also affect relations between us and other species may accuse us of favourtism against the Romans" Hopkins reflected quietly. "Well, let's bring it up in the next Council meeting and go from there" Franklin said nothing, but nodded in agreement. Hopkins hoisted a large brown golfing bag that was sitting on the floor over his shoulders. "Now come on, it's almost our tee time. Grab your golfing bag, I have a match to win"
  20. Playing drunk is fun, lol. Those you on the Talon can agree to that :P
  21. That is correct. We initially started out as an Enterprise era sim, but it wasn't proving popular in the coming years, especially after Enterprise was canceled. We changed formats in early 2008 to our current Movie Era Excelsior class setting. But who knows, the format might be revived again if there's enough demand for it. ::Shrugs::
  22. Yeah, really. No worries Tashaya. You haven't let anyone down here. Don't worry about Challenger and get better soon and we hope you can return to us feeling 100%. <_<
  23. Top notch game with lots of drama. Go CANADA! Most Golds ever in a Winter Olympic Games with 14. Definitely something to be proud about!
  24. Joyeux anniversaire, mon ami Lo Ami! <_<
