  1. Happy Birthday, Grommit. Give Wallace my regards ;)
  2. Enclosed is an updated version of the Challenger policy pack. There are some modifications and additions as well as more in-depth information on each aspect. Please be sure to familiarise yourself with the information included in this packet. USS_Challenger_Policy_Pack.doc
  3. 19 April, 2009: The Challenger is currently docked at Epsilon 7 to pick up Ambassador Praan; a Vulcan ambassador assigned to help diffuse an ongoing crisis situation on Elaysia. Captain Seiben meets the Ambassador to discuss the situation, offering their insights on the matter while the rest of the crew visit the station's bar for a few rounds of drinks. Our new ensign, Ensign Freeman meets the crew and later the Captain as he joins his crew for drinks after his discussions with Ambassador Praan. After a few hours, and anti-hangover medication, Challenger and its crew should be ready for departure to Elaysia. TBS = 3 hours. 041909.doc
  4. :D Not available in my region (Canada). Hate it when that happens.
  5. 12 April, 2009: Challenger is back on course on its original mission to pick up an Elasyian Ambassador from Epsilon 7, a remote space station in Fderation Space. Some of the crew opt to take their long overdue physical exams whilst the Challenger makes contact and docks at the station. A short leave was granted for a few hours to while Challenger is restocked for the upcoming mission. Captain Seiben heads to Wal-Mart to buy a new iPADD, then heads up to the bridge to talk with the station commander and the ambassador about the mission. Several of the crew plan to hit the bar for some drinks. TBS = 1 hour. 041209.doc
  6. 06 April, 2009: The USS Challenger finds itself face-to-face with a Romulan D-7, the Firewing. Claiming navigational glitches, the Firewing's Commander hails the Challenger claiming that they didn't intend to enter Federation space and will leave immediately. After some thought and conference with his crew, Captain Seiben doesn't buy it and orders the tractor beam engaged to take the Romulan vessel back to the nearest starbase. But, before they can get a lock, the Firewing, which wasn't as damaged as they had thought fired a blinding EM pulse that temporarily blinded the crew and sensors long enough for them to evade the Challenger. Unable to find the Firewing on sensors or catch up with them, Captain Seiben orders the Challenger out of the anomaly and back to Epsilon 7 to resume their primary mission. TBS: One day 040609.rtf
  7. Happy Birthday Sorehl :o
  8. 29 March, 2009: The USS Challenger is investigating a mysterious area of space. Warp drive is unavailable and Challenger proceeds on impulse towards the energy signature of a Klingon D7. Not able to get there on time on impulse only, Captain Seiben orders Mr. Kas to initiate a short boost of warp power to catch up. After a short few seconds barely cracking warp speed, the Challenger catches up to the D7, which appears to be in some level of distress. To their surprise, the D7 crew hails them. To their even greater surprise, the person on the screen wasn't Klingon, but in fact Romulan. Close-up scans confirm this by the feathered paint scheme on the bottom of the hull. With these new revelations, the crew of the Challenger are left to figure out what happens next. TBS = 0? (I Don't remember, lol) 033009.doc
  9. Currently, my 2005 HP Pavillion PC is showing signs of terminal illness. From the constant hard drive crashes, system freezes, weird noises coming from the machine, and it being extremely slow almost every day (whether simply turning it on, which can take 2-3 minutes, loading an application or surfing the net), I believe it is time for me to consider a new computer. I've either owned or used every version of Windows since 3.1, and after two years with ME and 18 months with Vista (XP wasn't great either. BSOD'ed and crashed on me almost weekly), I don't really want to go back to Microsoft (even though Windows 7 is due for release soon). As some of you know, I am now for the first time in 16 years of PC ownership, considering the switch to Apple. I am now seriously considering purchasing a new 24" iMac desktop. One of the more higher end models (500GB - 1TB models). Plan to get it around April or May. Saving up for it, and rumours of a new iMac as Apple is overdue to revamp the iMac line, in addition to Snow Leopard, a slight upgrade to OS X to be released in Q1 2009 are the reasoning behind me wanting to wait so long. I can wait that long, as I want to get the newest I can get, and my computer can hold out for a few more months. Which brings me to my question for anyone who owns or has owned a Mac. Since this'll be my first Apple, what are your experiences with it? Did it take you a long time to get used to it, and most importantly, how easy (or hard) was it to access the chat rooms here? I imagine Java has an update for OS X but were/are you able to get into the chat room with little to no difficulties? And how are you liking your computer, especially if like me, it's your first Mac from a PC? Here's your chance for you Apple iFans to give me the final little nudge I need to get off that fence and into the Apple camp. Thanks for your assistance, Seiben
  10. BUMP! Wanted to update you and let you know that I have got the Mac! Early verdict is that I love it! The small wireless keyboard does take some getting used to, but in the whole I am very pleased with the purchase and sheer performance and ease of use of this machine. Specs: 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 1TB SATA HD 4GB DDR3 RAM nVidia GeForce GT130 graphics card Wireless Keyboard & Wireless Mighty Mouse 1TB Time Capsule (Wireless backup drive and router all-in-one)
  11. 15 March, 2009: Challenger continues its perilous rescue mission after answering a distress call from the freighter ship Alexa which detected a possible Klingon cloaking signature. Challenger investigates. A probe was sent into a nebula and what it detects is a bit troubling. TBS ~10-15 minutes 031509.txt
  12. 08 March, 2009: The Challenger has departed the Obi colony and is en route to Epsilon 7, to pick up an ambassador needed to help diffuse a crisis that has erupted on Elasia. Commander Ba'alyo debriefs the Senior Staff on the situation, when they receive a distress call from a freighter reporting Klingon cloaking signals. Challenger has changed course to render assistance. Meanwhile, Seiben's computer continues to be an ass. ;) TBS = 1 hr, 30 minutes. 030809.txt
  13. 01 March, 2009: With the medical personnel and supplies unloaded from the USS John Snow and the USS Bellic, the Challenger away team begin to wrap up their activities and hand over medical responsibilities to the crew of the Snow. The USS Bellic would handle security and the enforcement of the quarantine zone. Meanwhile, crews left the planet and picked up all our equipment while a small memorial service was held in the recently departed Doug T's honour. Challenger has been ordered to rendezvous with Starbase Epsilon 7 to pick up an ambassador in regards to growing concerns on Elasia. TBS = 2 days 030109.txt
  14. "Moving On" Star Date 10903.01 Nodding his thanks at the yeoman who had just given him some coffee, Seiben reclined in the captain's seat as he read the progress reports. A relieved look crossed his face. Things are starting to look promising, Doctors Juno and Harris and Lieutenant Savros have been doing an excellent job in containing the plague and treating those infected. Over the past few hours, Challenger has moved to an outer orbit of the quarantine zone to allow the medical ship John Snow and the supply ship Belic to orbit the colony and off load its supplies and personnel to the surface. These two ships had just delivered its load of medical equipment and medical personnel to supplement those from the Challenger. With the two starships specialised in medical missions such as these, both Seiben and Starfleet felt that the Challenger's presence at Obi was no longer considered necessary. A subspace transmission flashed on his console, a message from Starfleet, confirmed his thoughts telling him to wait for new orders. Seiben nodded in thought as he took a sip of his Columbian coffee. It shouldn't take long to wrap things up with the Obi authorities and officially hands things over to the John Snow and Belic, and he could finally get out of there. He didn't expect the mission to hit home so closely in the loss of one of his officers. Doug wasn't the first officer he lost, but it was always a tough moment sending out that dreaded message no family wants to receive. Of course, there'd be a quick ceremony to see Doug's body off, Seiben was still working out what he would say in the memorial service. Closing the lid on his mug, Seiben pressed a little button on his seat which extracted a cup holder from his chair. He was anxious to receive an update from the away team on the surface and make preparations to leave the quarantine zone.
  15. 22 February, 2009: In a day with "out with the old, in with the new", Challenger's tactical officer, Lt JG Doug succumbs to the effects of the plague. Meanwhile, the Miranda class USS Bellic arrives to provide additional medical supplies, equipment and personnel needed to deal with the outbreak. In addition, the Bellic also brings Challenger its new Navigational Officer Ensign Reed, who is quickly put to work co-ordinating with the bridge members. With most of its job complete, Challenger is about to break orbit and move to the outer edge of the quarantine zone to enforce protection. TBS = 6 hours. 022209.txt
  16. No preference from me either. Though to be honest, I didn't even know that the official acronym was RSE for a Romulan starship.
  17. 15 February, 2009: Doug T's health deteriorates after beaming to the outbreak zone with an incorrectly installed helmet. Prognosis looks bleak. Meanwhile, Dr. Juno and the rest of the team work on the other patients. A nearby spacial protein source peaks the curiosity of Lt. Kas and the Science crew. What will it hold? TBS = 2-3 hours. 021509.txt
  18. 08 February, 2009: The quarantine lock down trapping Captain Seiben, Major Kimiko and Dr. Harris on the surface turns out to be a false alarm as the freighter crew exhibit symptoms of an unrelated non contagious ailment. The trio beam back to the Challenger and are placed in a quarantine booth to rid them of any potential air-borne virus that travelled with them. Dr. Juno and his team continue to treat patients as our new Chief Security Officer arrives on the medical ship John Snow. The John Snow sends down a medical team to assist. TBS = 3 hours. 020809.txt
  19. Happy Birthday, Mon ami Loami!
  20. Went to the Apple Store and had a little play with the iMac and the finder feature (free flow looks cool). Two final questions, really. Firstly, what's a good anti-virus program to use? From my research, there isn't much offered in the way of Macs and OS X other than Norton really. But, I don't really like Norton as it's slow, hogs alot of resources and doesn't do a very good job. And secondly, price. For you, what justifies spending twice as much on a Mac than a similiarly speced PC? Asked the guy at the Apple Store, he just gave me that whole value for money better engineered deal. (I think he got it straight off the Apple site, if you ask me) so I'd like to get an opinion from a more non-biased source. Thanks.
  21. The above photo sums up the company as a whole perfectly right now. or.. Caterpillar. We're in way over our heads.
  22. 01 February, 2009: The crew of the Obi Runner, the freighter that tried to escape Obi has been detained in a detention centre south of the city. The captain's away team pay them a visit to interrogate the crew. Unfortunately, things get bad when the captain shows symptoms of the plague. Juno and Savros continue their work in the hospital in the north continent, TBS = 12 hours 020109.txt
  23. Thanks for your input everyone. It really helps with my decision. To answer your question, I plan to use it to surf the net, watch movies and TV shows on-line and maybe the odd photo editing occasionally. I don't plan on waiting for Snow Leopard (The guy at the Apple Store told me there's not much difference from Leopard; unless it's released in conjunction with the new iMac, but with Apple, that is highly unlikely). I have a Play Station 3 to handle all my gaming needs, so the lack of games issue for Mac is no longer a concern for me (2009 is supposed to be a good year for games on the PS3). Please continue with your input, I really appreciate it. ;)
  24. 25 January 2009: The Away Team continues to discuss the outbreak with the governor. As they start to wrap up, a freighter, the Obi Runner is reported to have left port without authorisation, violating the quarantine rules in place. Risking contamination of the outbreak to other worlds, the Challenger crew acts fast and scrambles its fighters to intercept the Obi Runner. Ignoring warnings, the fighters fire warning shots. To no avail, the fighters resort to disabling the Runner's engines. Challenger fighters are ordered to escort the Obi Runner and its crew back to the surface for apprehension. To prevent future attempts to leave port, Captain Seiben orders extra security personnel to seal off all ports. Meanwhile, Savros and Dr. Juno work in the affected northern area confronting the people in the ground car. Dr. Juno has failed to answer comms. TBS= 12 hours. 250109.txt
