Manticore has been sent to Starbase 23 near the Romulan neutral
zone to confirm a new weapon designed against the Changelings.
Along the way, they received a distress call, the sender of which
claims to be the son of Captain McFly and Commander Kenickie but
DNA tests conclude that Erich is the real father. He does, however,
bring warnings about the future. McFly decides to cautiously
continue with the mission along with calling for fleet backup.
Upon arrival to the station, an away team met with the woman
leading the project, Dr Moira Taggert. She performed a weapons
test on a compound approximating Changeling physiology. And then
suddenly, Romulans! They planned to destroy the station, saying
it had been taken over by Changelings. McFly was able to suspend
their attack with the condition they root out any Changelings on
board. They found one, the scientist Dr Moira Taggert. And soon
after, they found more... a lot more. Meanwhile, on the ship,
Kansas and Nathan have decided to take matters into their own
hands and have commandeered the Captain's Yacht, rerouting ships
systems through it.

Mom, I don't think a shuttle is going to have enough firepower to deplete a station's shield grid. Not even mine is powerful enough to do that.

A small detail or two. Deep in the base, at the other end of the tube, is a... shell, or port kind of thing, that, heh, exactly matches a Federation quantum torpedo housing, which adds to my earlier finding, but it's the thing leading up to it....

I don't know what you call it, but the... guh.... tray, or landing pad, the area outside of a torpedo tube, where they place the torpedos before sliding them into the torpedo tube?

I mean, the scans appear to show it having jagged edges, some "after market" welding, it was definitely a personal element to something. Fortunately ::raises his voice as if a question on that word::, no, nothing I can think to check that would be especially identifying about it

I couldn't keep track

It went blurry for me

the ship was going to ram the station, yacht was still attached to the ship and ship controls were routed to the yacht.

So Matt, Kansas and Nathan were on the yatch. KK and Nate were using it to reroute ship systems so they could beam back the away team and destroy the station. Matt shot the console to prevent them from doing it so the yacht never released. First they thought to use the shuttles to attack the station because manticore still doesn't have weapons back online then they thought to ram manticore into the station and kill everyone.

At dfferent times I thought McFly and KK were on the ship, on the yacht, on a blown up yacht, and sometimes Nathan was there and sometimes he wasn't lol

OK, that's why I was conflating the yacht and the bridge!

Matt shot the console, Kansas attacked then Nathan left to try and continue the plan in another part of the ship.

Because it hadn't taken off, ok, ok

Somewhere along the way Faldek got wind of something going on and had Harnett disable the engines.

Finding a way to scan through the portal would be helpful, if anyone has any ideas.

That was always going to be a risk. We do want to make sure whoever goes through knows not to escalate any conflict. Any way to send even some tablet or written anything through to let the refugees know what we're trying to do?

This thing is actually housing two relatively small chambers, one looks to be full of tricobalt, as in the explosive. The other one isn't full yet, but is gathering trilithium resin. I think the light show might be a modified warp core generating it. So, if you hypothetically plug in a quantum torpedo into the rear end of this, and fire it, you would get a massive bomb that could mess with subspace, and an instant environment toxic to humans. But not Cardiassians.

ACTION> Patients in the medical facility seem to be suffering from a wide range of purple spots -- some with only a few, and some with their entire bodies covered. Other symptoms include fever and vomiting.

"Oh boy, let's take a look."

ACTION> As Reynolds and Will ride along in the ARGOs up to the actual lake, the landscape begins to transform from high desert shrubs to coniferous woodlands., the path they're taking follows alongside that of large, nacel sized pipes that are being connected to pump the water back down to the desert below. The lake itself fills a vast alpine valley that stretches beyond their line of sight. A Corps team is already setup along the shore with a basic field office waiting for the heavy equipment and manpower the Excalibur crew is escorting.

"Aside from the pipes, this reminds me of home."

Ens Reynolds> Well, at least it's cooler up here. ::He disembarked when they stopped and grabbed one of those heavy cases, loading them onto the waiting hover carts.::

William gets out of the ARGO and starts hauling out. "Indeed. My family used to camp in areas that looked like this when I was a kid."

Crunik> A tall, auburn haired Starfleet Engineering Corps NCO makes his way over to the Excalibur group Ah, you must be Lt. Chocox.

"Oh hey, someone who can pronounce my name. Yes, I am Lieutenant Commander Chocox. You are?" William sets down a crate and extends his hand.

Crunik> Salutes Chief Warrant Officer Albert Crunik.

William turns the handshake into a return salute. "As you were Chief. Where do y'all need us?"

Ens Reynolds> ::Finishes unloading, eyeing the NCO as he leaned on the cart.::

"This is Ensign Mallory Reynolds."

Crunik> Nods to the Ensign We've got a base camp setup, but that's about it at this point. Getting all this pumping equipment setup will be hard work, but doable as long as the weather holds up.

:: Examines a few of the patients then looks over the records they kept when this outbreak first appeared ::

Crunik> Hope you don't mind rations while you're up here. Whatever crap they put on the lakebed to keep it from seeping into the ground water not only messes with our transporters, but with the replicator we brought up as well. Communications don't seem too badly effected at least.

"Excellent. Point us to where this equipment goes and we'll get it set up for you with a minimum of explosions. And...I'll deal, but you may want to monitor how much Ensign Reynolds eats."

Swain> Elsewhere Swain had escaped the formal reception, but was now being 'treated' to a personal tour of "the Liberation of Xenex" museum attached to the cultural and conference center

$Rex> Back on Excalibur, he was finishing his bridge shift and headed down to grab something quick to eat before he had a personnell review meeting with his number 2 in security. Really all things considered this was probably the most straightforward assignment they'd had in literal months. No geopolitical intrigure, no looming threat of Romulans or extrademinsional beings, no haunted space station.

The first person through would need to be ready to help build the return portal for them to get back. It's not going to be a quick test trip.

= USS MANTICORE BRIEFING #1238, STARDATE 52309.25 = starfleet

= Manticore has been sent to Starbase 23 near the Romulan neutral zone to confirm a new weapon designed against the Changelings. Along the way, they received a distress call, the sender of which claims to be the son of Captain McFly and Commander Kenickie but DNA tests conclude that Erich is the real father. He does, however, bring warnings about the future. McFly decides to cautiously continue with the mission along with calling for fleet backup. Upon arrival to the station, an away team met with the woman leading the project, Dr Moira Taggert. She performed a weapons test on a compound approximating Changeling physiology. And then suddenly, Romulans! They planned to destroy the station, saying it had been taken over by Changelings. McFly was able to suspend their attack with the condition they root out any Changelings on board. So far, they haven't had much success. The Romulans gave them the remainder of their time but they need to find something, and quick. Faldek has arrested the scientist they met when they first came to the station. But was that the right move? = starfleet

Cardol> The Danteri used pumping stations to draw water firstly from the unconfined aquifer, and when they’d drained that, used core drilling to get to the confined one. Basically the whole basin was drained.

"Oh wow. And we're replenishing it?"

The engineering team would also be receiving the results of contamination analyses of soil from the basin from Irene's team.

Cardol> That’s the plan anyway. Goal is to use the reservoir water first, then if we need to we can start bringing in water from Excalibur.

Cardol> The problem is that removing so much of the groundwater and aquifer has made things unstable. This whole area he motions used to have an underground lake 500m deep.

ACTION> Indarua found the medical facilities to be a hub of organized chaos. Medics and doctors were seeing to patients that seemed to be suffering from some sort of purple pox.

Cardol> It’s mostly settled. The occupation was like 300 years and they built this reservoir pretty early on, both to drive out the clans in the basin and provide hydro power for their mining operations.

Upon arrival to the station, an away team met with the woman
leading the project, Dr Moira Taggert. She performed a weapons
test on a compound approximating Changeling physiology. And then
suddenly, Romulans! They planned to destroy the station, saying
it had been taken over by Changelings. McFly was able to suspend
their attack with the condition they root out any Changelings on
board. So far, they haven't had much success. The Romulans gave
them the remainder of their time but they need to find something,
and quick.

First the Romulans show up claiming there are changelings aboard and literally wanted to turn it into space dust, so they don't want the experimental weapon. The communications array wasn't destroyed in the attack, it was sabotaged. Now my crew member is being targetted for an assassination attempt.

Dude, I'm loving Strange New Worlds and I love Anson Mount as Pike. This group of writers just get it.

As for a cook off, Pike definitely knows how to cook some good looking things. Plus he is a bacon lover. That right there is enough to sway me. HOWEVER... Sisko be cooking some authentic creole food, To be honest I don't know who would win but I'd do some things to be a tasting judge. :D :D

So here's what's going on, we're not going to fabricate a new communications array if the Romulans are just going to blow up the station. So as of now there will be no new equipment. What gave you the idea that we would be sending over new material until this was resolved? I know I did not make that promise.

MISSION BRIEF: When we last left off, Excalibur was in orbit of Xenex, a mostly desert world that has been slowly but surely rebuilding since the late 50s after nearly 350 years of occupation by the Danteri Empire. Engineering and Science are assiting locals and a group of Starfleet Corps of Engineers in an important project to restore a major wetland area. Swain has been pulled into a diplomatic reception honoring the Excalibur, but not ours - a previous Excalibur commanded by the Liberator of Xenex, retired Captain Mackenzie of Calhoun.

Irene is with a whole team of blueshirts surveying the planet's wetlands restoration area. They set up a little base camp already, with quick-deploying tents and hexagonal containers of science crap everywhere.

C'n'k'l'v of Selwin> Has a very serious face They are looking forward to being a amjor part of restoring water to this region, Ensign. They are among the finest students on all of Xenex.

ACTION> Excalibur gets a message from the surface asking where their engineering teams are. It does not seem like they are very pleased that "the Excalibur's teams are late, without notice"

Irene> Hmmm. "Well, there's definitely plenty of work for them to do. The first thing we need is a grid of core samples so we can determine where contamination is the worst and how it has spread. Grouping your students up with our teams will get that done a lot faster than I expected."

William responds with, "Necessary repairs to Excalibur personnel quarters took precedence."

Ens Reynolds> ::Lifts eyebrows at the message and Will's reply.:: Umm... I wonder if the Commander is going to get in trouble for this one.
