Computer begin personal log Aceavia Kartanis. Star Date 20509.17 Alright..I'm beginning to unpack moreso than I did before going on a rendevous around the ship. I did not meet my Chief Security Officer, apparently called N'Dak until after we got back onto the ship. He seems nice but there's something about him that strikes a bit of fear into me. I'm not even really sure what race he is.. I hope I'll find out soon.. The ship is a pleasant one with friendly faces and simple tasks! ::Makes a gag noise:: Well the crew members are nice but I don't believe that there will be many tasks that are as simple as patrolling. I think I screwed over my first impression on XO Dacotah. I forgot to mention I was Rihan. But, how could you not tell? Fiery attitude, distrust of people I don't know, pointed ears, and such.. Oh well..I met some very nice people.. One of my favorite people I met thus far is Kestra Miral, an assistant engineer. She's sweet and doesn't mind that I'm Rihan. I seem to get a feeling from a lot of the crew that they won't trust me at all because of my race. She accepts me though, which I appreciate and show. There was also a Vulcan, T'vin I think was her name. She seemed okay.. I didn't really get a chance to talk to her. Oh! And the assistant medical officer, Aaron Wrestler. He looks like someone I'd really get along with. He also accepted me. Weird, eh? One of the most annoying crew members was Avery Tynte. He joined me today on the Arcadia as well. Dumb little Bajoran..He seems to be very quiet. That bugs me to be quite frank. It's like "Do you trust me or are you just really quiet and going to tell everything about me?" I don't mind sharing that I was adopted, but I do hope no one tries to go into the details. One plus though is that he is attractive...I know, a Rihan and a Bajoran. Never going to happen, but hey, you can't blame a girl for looking! If he wasn't so quiet I might try to get to know him better. ::She picks up her handphaser and sits on the bed with her favorite stuffed bunny and sighs:: I miss mum and dad.. My baby ancient Earth bunny stuffed toy is all I have left of my past. I haven't told anyone anything else about what happened, not even those Starfleet doctors. I can't seem to open up to anyone. What is known is as follows: Aceavia’s biological parents were assigned aboard a Romulan vessel of unknown name. During the climax of the Dominion war, their vessel took heavy damage from Jem’Hadar forces. A Federation vessel, coming to the aid of this vessel saved as many as they could from the burning wreckage, among them was Aceavia Kartanis, badly burned and bleeding, she was transported to Starbase 23. Her name is known only because she was clutching a small stuffed animal, that had the words “Property of Acaevia Kartanis” written in Romulan on an attached tag. She still has this child’s toy, and considers it her only tangible link to her past. Although badly injured, due in no small part to the miraculous work of one Dr. Henry Lito, Aceavia survived. All attempts to find who Aceavia was, and any surviving relatives in the Romulan Star Empire failed. Her parents presumed dead, the Romulan government doing nothing to help, and alone among people not of her species, Aceavia had never felt more alone. It was two months before she would find her saving grace in Lt. Junior Grade Regina Miller. Taken in by Regina and her husband, two Starfleet officers assigned to the USS Tango. Aceavia was cautious and untrusting at first. But soon, with much coaxing and love, Aceavia opened up to her adoptive parents, and their relationship has been as tight as that of biological parents and child ever since. Regina and Thomas’ biological children Alem and Sara accepted Aceavia as one of their own, and their bond is just a strong as that of biological siblings. Aceavia grew up aboard the USS Tango, her adoptive father being a medical officer, her mother a security officer. Her childhood and schooling was for the most part normal, save the usual teasing and hardship of being different. Aceavia was always reinforced with love and acceptance by her adoptive family, however, and has no lasting scars related to being the only Romulan among many other species, mostly humans. Upon graduating the 12th grade, Aceavia decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become a Starfleet security officer. She joined the Academy, and finished with honors, holding the position of Cadet Commander her last two years at the Academy. Upon graduation Aceavia was assigned as an Assistant Security Officer onboard the USS Arcadia. She feels a great since of pride in following her mother’s example, and strives to make her mother and father proud. Both of Aceavia’s parents remain on the USS Tango, where her father is chief medical officer, and her mother is the assigned tactical officer. Both have been promoted to Lt. Commander. Aceavia’s sister Sara decided also to follow in her mother’s footsteps, becoming a security officer aboard the USS Montoya. Aceavia’s brother Alem graduated the Academy shortly after both his sisters, and now serve’s aboard the USS Virginia as an assistant engineer, Aceavia posses some knowledge of medicine as her father is a medical officer. Although the name found on the stuffed toy Aceavia was clutching was "Acaevia Kartanis" Ahem Miller, being to young to fully annunciate, continually mispronounced the name. The incorrect pronunciation stuck, and to this day Ensign Kartanis goes by her slightly altered first name. She is currently onboard the USS Arcadia fulfilling her post to the best of her ability. =/\= End Personal History =/\= =/\= Begin Psychiatric Profile Subject: Aceavia Kartanis =/\= Ensign Aceavia Kartanis is a strong willed and fiery individual. That is not to say she is uncaring, or cold. Quite the opposite is true, Aceavia has a warm, compassionate, gentle soul. Inheriting her mother’s fiery personality, only strengthened by the fact of being Romulan, Aceavia can sometimes become volatile, although for the most part she keeps her emotions in check. This doctor sees no lasting mental scars, and nothing of note in Ensign Kartanis’ Psychiatric health Dr. Enara Menendez, Starfleet Medical =/\= Begin Medical History =/\= Ensign Kartanis has suffered no major trauma since her ordeal aboard the Romulan Vessel at the age of 6 STY. She still bears scars from this trauma, minor burns and lacerations along 65% of her body. Most of these are minor scars, save one, extending from her shoulder across her back, ending just above her hip. Save this one trauma, Aceavia has been in almost perfect physical health all her life, this may be due to the fact of being a full Romulan.
