  1. Last night is was around -57 Celsius with the wind chill here, thats about -70 F.
  2. Saskatchewan highways are pretty bad. a lot of pot holes and really hard on the suspension and can get ugly if your driving a low rider.
  3. As far as the newer models go, they make everything under the hood more compacted and so squished in that when something in the midst of the engine compartment breaks you have to have really small hands or take some of the parts off to get to a part that is broken. As for that riding the car harder, I think Nem was refering to driving the car in a way that places a lot of wear on certain parts of the car, eg: riding the clutch will lead to the clutch needing replacement well before it should be needing a replacement. Nice pic of the camaro Nem.
  4. I prefer the muscle cars of the 60's, when they are fully restored and not supped up out side of the packages available when they were manufactured. My favorite would be the Camaro.
  5. uhmmm, KBear, the chat log looks to be of a monday academy from a couple of weeks ago. :) :)
  6. Happy Birthday, Blu! ! ! ! ! ! l l l l l BBBBBBBBB BBBBBBBBB BBBBBBBBB
  7. I enjoy all the acedemies. I really can't pick a favorite out of them since each academy has a quality that sets it apart from the rest of the academies. As for the GM styles, it is nice to be able to play under different command styles. It give the players a variety of command structures to play under and to learn to adapt to different situations. Most of the advance ships have differences in the way the ships are ran and it can give the newer cadets an idea what to expect on some of the ships if the advanced ship GMs are also academy GMs.
  8. A tr'N'Dak and t'Bat'ok Production. Batok sat in engineering finishing up her report to t'Temarr; meanwhile a few decks above her, N’Dak slumbering in his quarters. Batok was sitting stool nervously tapping her fingers proofreading the report before she sent into her Daise when a voice came over the intercom. It was a man voice that she heard, and a very disgruntled one at that. “This is the fourth time I have contacted au about my alarm not working,” boomed N’Dak voice over the com. He had awaken late four the fourth time since coming to the Talon. Luckily this time he wasn’t due to be on shift, but the faulty alarm clock irritated him none the less. R’tor grimaced at the sound of the Ne’Arrein’s voice, he had been quite…unsavory as of late but she tried to be hospitable. “Well we have been rather busy with hose pesky Klingons,” she said. “Well now that your not,” N’Dak quickly replied, “Would you mind fixing my clock?” R’tor set the ISD she was working with down on the table and started downloading the report to send it to the Daise. “Well let me finish downloading this report to t’Temarr and then I will come,” R’tor said a bit irritated at N’Dak trying to rush her. “Where is you want to show up?” “My Quarters,” N’Dak said curtly as he dressed himself. He closed the link to engineering and finished dressing. “These engineers,” he said. “You would think that they would have made sure my clock was working before they issued it to me. It is no wonder that the Ennarien is always gripping at them.” Back in Engineering, Batok finshed sending the report and got her tool kit. She checked it over to make sure everything was there and then headed to the lift. “Deck 8,” she said as she entered the lift. The doors slide shut with a whoosh, and the lift began to hum as it ascended to the Security Quarters. The lift halted and R’tor exited, the doors swooshing shut behind her. She walked down the Corridor looking at the name plates. “Hmmm... Where are N’Dak’s,” she said just as her eyes caught the proper one. She rang the doorbell and waited for an answer. “Come in,” N’Dak said. R’tor stepped in cautiously. “Hello?,” she said as she looked around for N’Dak. N’Dak stepped out from the shadows. “The clock is in the bedroom.” R’tor sighed and frowned and headed towards the bed room. “Why are your frowning?” N’Dak asked as he walked towards the Replicator. “Would you like something drink while you work?” “No I am good right now, thanks anyways,” she said as she walked into the bedroom and looked around, “Where bouts did you put it?” “It should be on the stand,” Ndak said into the bedroom as he picked up his tea he had replicated and walked into the room. She spotted the clock and walked over and picked it up. “Mind if I work on your table over there?” she asked. “Not at all.” She returned to the living room and sat down on a chair and removed her engineering kit form her shoulder and began working on the clock. “I see you have been promoted, Congratulations,” n’Dak said trying to be sociable. He was in a better mood now than he had been earlier, after all he had got what he wanted—his clock fixed. “Thank you,” R’tor said with a smile on her lips. “So what seems to be the problem with this clock?” “It never goes off on time,” N’Dak said. “Does it go off at all,” R’tor questioned as she opened her engineering kit. “Yes, but never on time,” N’Dak said as sipped his tea, “and it is not reliable to how late it will go off.” R’tor nodded and then opened her multicorder and scanned the clock. “I think the internal timers are misaligned,” she said as she removed some tools from the kit. “You are an engineering wizard,” N’Dak teased. “When I am Praetor, I will make sure you are the head of engineering for the entire Galee.” R’tor looked at N’Dak almost laughing. “Your to be the Praetor are you,” she jeered as she popped the cover of the clock off. She switched tools and began to work on the internals with another tool. “Right hand would be more appropriate. You see my sister is to be bonded to the Praetor’s son,” N’dak said with a grin. “Really? So you chose the galae over political life style unlike your sister?” “My Father is a senator and my Mother an ambassador,” N’Dak said taking a sip of the tea. “I have had my more than my share of political life.” R’tor listened as she adjusted the time settings and ran the scanner over them to make sure the internals were aligned properly. “So you went and joined the most dangerous ship in the fleet?” “Not with my mother’s permission,” he grinned, “She thinks we are studying nebulae.” “Wouldn’t your dad know otherwise and tell her?” R’tor raised her eye brow. “He is chairman of the Military Senate Committee, of course he knows,” N’Dak said. “But it is our little secret.” R’tor checked the device again and found it was in sync. “And she doesn’t suspect anything?” “She is currently on the Tholian Homeworld,” N’Dak winked. “So what of your lineage?” “My Brother is a security officer in the Galae,” R’tor said as she put the cover back on the clock. “And my sister is looking to enter the Academy.” “Ahh My brother is at the academy now,” N’Dak said. “And your parents what of them?” “My parents, well” she paused as she placed the cover back on fully. “They both served in the Galae.” “Well then your family has indeed served the Galae well,” N’Dak said reassuringly. “Yeah I guess you could say that,” R’tor said. R’tor motioned to the clock as she sat it down on the table. “Would you like to give it a test while I am still here?” N’Dak nodded an approval and then spoke up again as he shifted in his chair taking another ship of tea. “Was this your first experience with Klingons?” “You mean on this planet or since I came aboard?” r’tor said as she sat back in her chair. “Either,” N’dak said also leaning back in his chair. “Well I didn’t have any face to face encounters before I came aboard,” she said. “Since I came aboard though, my last away mission I had two to three shoot at me at close range. I ended up getting beamed back aboard since one hit a tree near me and I ended up with splinters in my neck and head. I guess that was my first away mission.” “Oh. I spent time on their homeworld,” N’Dak said with a sly grin. “Really? How was that?” R’tor said. “Muk’t’Jakra [interesting in Klingon]” N’Dak said grinning even wider. R’tor looked at him puzzled. “It was very interesting, I learned their language,” N’Dak clarified. She gave him a look of recognition and continued. “OH yes you were the one who helped us translate those communiqués weren’t you?” N’Dak nodded. “But why speak it so freely, does that not get you in trouble?” “If they want to challenge me,” N’Dak said with a slight aggression in his voice. “I say come right ahead, I dare you.” “That sounds…very…Klingon,” R’tor said slightly taken aback by the frankness of the young Ne’Arrien. “I am a Senator’s son,” N’Dak said firmly. “If Ennarien t’Rexen or anyone else so much as lays one undeserving finger on me, they will have a one way ticket to Tribunal on ch’Rihan.” “Political Ties?” R’tor asked rhetorically. “Yes, but I do not take those for granted,” N’Dak said defensively, “If I do something that deserves punishment, then I expect it.” “At least you stay on the same playing field as the rest, rest of us,” R’tor added. Before the conversation could continue and further and either of them could stick a foot in the mouth, R’Tor turned the clock around and said “Okay let’s test it.” She set the clock and it went off. Pleased she put her tools away and turned to N’Dak and placed the clock in his hand. “If that is all, here is your clock; I don’t know where you want it.” N’Dak nodded and thanked her and she left his quarters.
  9. Mission Report Sent to: Daise'Engineer El'Arrain Laehval t'Temarr By: Arrain R'tor t'Batok Subject: Mission report of the ridding of Kll'inghanns from the planet and the modification analysis for the devices Mission overview After being sent down to the armory I had proceeded to come up with a modification of the devices. Tkaing the devices form their storage locker, a few at a time, the devices were modified manually. A record of the frequencies used for each of the devices was made as the devices were built. Pexil had joined me in the armory to assist in the modification of the devices. The devices were beamed to the surface with the away team. They were placed in the cave at the designated coordinates security had selected. After retreating behind shelter, the devices were set off. The cave was then reentered and cleared to make sure there was no living kll'inghanns left inside. During this time I had picked up one of the devices that was planted to bring back to the Talon for analysis. The serfs where found to be kept in a room with a single door which we had entered by depressing a klingon's hand to a panel adjacent to the door. After freeing the serfs from their holding cell we then beamed back aboard. After getting some sleep, I had reported to engineering with the device I had picked up. Security was contacted to take care of the explosive compound that was taken out of the devices as they were modified. After making a quick check on the power flow I then headed off to a test lab to begin the analysis of the modified device after detonation. Modified Devices Modifications Made: -Explosive compound was removed -A rod and sleeve assemble constructed and placed so each rod was against an end of the cylinder -A reciever chip was added into the control unit -Container filled with a bio-agent -The end that was opened for the modifications and filling was sealed Rod and sleeve assemble: Made up of two rods put end to end with a sleeve or pipe around the pipes where they joined and covering approximately an inch of each rod. Between the rods there was a disk of the explosive compound placed inside the sleeve which would blow apart the two rods pushing the ends of the cylinders off. Analysis: Stress Fracture - The canister is covered in stress fractures from the ends being pushed out. Since the canister is built to explode in the explosion, this is expected. The amount of explosive compound used in the rod and sleeve assemble seems to be adequate. Material Strength - The canister and the one end recovered appear to have survived the ordeal without breaking appart. If the gas was to be spread quicker a weaker material may be saught after, but I would recommend nothing so weak that the canister would break easily when preparing or accidentaly when handleing. Contorl Unit - The wiring seems slightly burnt fomr the heat created when the canister opened. Since the control unit had already fulfilled its purpose before overheating, this is not a concern. Visual Assessment - The sealent appears to have worked well with the rod and sleeve assemble. The end that was taken off during the modifications was not recovered and therefore assumed that it had come completely off. The rod and sleeve assemble had pushed both ends outward, performing the task well for how I had wanted the assemble to work. Conclusion: I would recommend keeping the modification of record for the device for future possible use. Maybe even including a replicational version to make them easier and faster to build.
  10. COMPUTER BEGIN LOG Ne'Arrain R'Tor t'Batok's Personal log The doors to her quarters barely had time to fully open before R'Tor strolled in. "Etrehh lights," she called out. Blinking a few times to adjust to the light contrast, she moved over to her table. Setting down her multicorder and eng kit on the table as she sat down in the chair that she was standing by. Making sure the multicorder was turned off, she set it aside then slide the eng kit in front of her as she brought her hand back towards her. As she opened it her eyes came to rest on the modified device that she had picked up on the surface after they had been discharged. One end piece was gone and the other was only attached by a piece about half an inch wide. A small smile touched her lips as the device was being observed, after all the modifications worked, she didn't blow up the armory, and the mission to rid the klingons worked. Standing up she removed her uniform jacket as she moved around to behind the chair. Placing the jacket on the back of the chair so the chair back was inside the shoulders, she studied the modified device still in the eng kit. Reaching over the chair she closed the eng kit, deciding to leave the post use evaluation of the modification, which she felt would add to her report on the modifications, for later. Straightening up she looked around her quarters before spotting the ISD pile with the manuals and data of the different power flow and system integrity systems. Deciding to get some reading done before getting some sleep she started in the direction of the ISDs. Her stomach decided that moment to rumble reminding her she hadn't had dinner yet, so she change her course making a detour to the replicator. Getting a sandwich from the replicator she proceeded to the ISD's and took the top two. Returning to the table she set the ISDs and the plate with the sandwich on the table, while sitting in the chair. Turning on the top ISD she continued on reading from where she left off while eating her sandwich. Finishing the chapter that she was on when she finished the sandwich, she got up and moved to put the ISDs away stopping by the replicator to recycle the plate. Moving over to her bed she decided to get some sleep before they head back to dealing with the klingons. "Etrehh set alarm for 5 hours from now." Sitting on the side of the bed she took her boots off then she swung her legs up onto the bed and settled down trying to get comfy for a nap before she would be up and hustling around engineering again. 11. Thanks guys.
  12. Thanks all.
  13. The GM's will anounce any graduations at the end of the academy sims, if they see someone that should graduate. Graduation doesn't depend on the number of sims attended. It helps to show up to an academy more than once than attending different ones all the time.

  16. COMPUTER START LOG Stardate: 0309.13 Ne’Arrain R’Tor t’Bat’ok’s log As R’Tor entered the armory she looked around the room. Having been her first visit to the armory she wasn’t sure what to expect when she got there. Having an engineering tool kit in one hand and an ISD containing the information she wanted, she noted a table and moved over to it to claim it as a temporary work bench. After getting the toolkit set down and opened she turned to the ISD. Looking over the data on the hand held explosive she was to modify and moving to the locker that the devices were suppose to be in she began her task. “Computer engage a level 5 force field around the armory” she commanded, not wanting a device to explode and take out that area of the ship while she was modifying it. Opening the locker revealed several of the devices. The devices were cylindrical in shape with a length of approximately 10 inches and diameter was about 3 inches. Grabbing the nearest one she then turned and headed over to the table. Setting the device down she then looked around for a chair. Finding one that was across the room she walked over to it picking it up and moving it over to the table. After getting settled in the chair, she picked up an engineering tricorder and scanned the device. Removing the control unit from the device allowed her remove the explosive component from the tube. Getting the component out she set it on the table off to the side. This left her with a tube and a control unit. Now all she had to do was modify the device to some how come open so the gas could escape, be controllable from the ship, and to be silent enough not to alert the klingons. The control unit had a wire that would send a spark to the explosive component when the unit was activated. That could be used as a power surge to some sort of mechanism to open up the device. “Placing some very small amounts of the explosive component near the ends of the canister to blow the ends off would allow the gas to escape but it would create a noise and a flash.” She muttered to herself. Feeling that the problem of being controllable from the ship would be an easier task to achieve, she started to look over the control unit. After a good visual inspection, she decided that placing a receiver in each of the control units all to different frequencies would be the best way to go. Getting up she went over to the replicator and began to insert the instruction to replicate a receiver that could receive a signal from the ship and then send out a signal to the device it is mounted on. After it materialized she set the program to replicate enough of the receivers for the rest of the devices to be modified. Walking back to the table she sat down again and then turned her attention to the receiver. Manually she set the receiver to a frequency. Grabbing the padd she created a chart to record the device number and the frequency it is programed with. Setting the padd down she then etched the frequency into the tube the control unit is to be attached to. Picking up the control unit she then attached the receiver between the power source and the wire to set off the explosives. Turning back to the problem of letting the gas out and not having anything that would alert the klingons she sat there looking over the tube. Looking over to the end sitting on the table she began to wonder about a mechanism that would push the ends out. Going over to the replicator again she then replicated two solid rods just slightly shorter than half the length of the tube and a hollow pipe of titanium just big enough to fit an end of each rod inside leaving a slight gap between the ends. Taking the pieces back to the table she then cut a small piece of the explosive compound. Taking the pipe she drilled a small hole that was roughly equal distance from each end. She inserted the wire that would ignite the explosive into the hole she drilled and then sautered the wire in place. Placing one rod into the pipe she then made sure that the device was switched to off before putting the compound in the other end, pushing it to the end of the rod already inserted in the pipe with the remaining rod. Taking the end of the tube sitting on the table she then fastened it to the end of one of the rods. Sliding the rods and wire into the tube she then placed the cap back on the device. Grabbing the ISD again she then made notes of the modifications. Walking over to the console she then placed a memo to medical letting them know what was done to the device. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ MEMO To: Medical By: Ne’Arrain t’Bat’ok Topic: Modified explosive devices. The modified devices have had a receiver chip inserted, each with a different frequency, and the explosives removed. The tube is empty awaiting to be filled with the biological agent to be used on the Klingons. The devices will be transported to Medical from the armory as I modify them. After the biological agent has been added and the open end sealed, they should be ready to be used for the mission. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Finishing the memo she then placed the first modified device on a small issue transporter and transported it to Medical. Walking back to the weapons locker she continued on her task of modifying enough devices for the mission. COMPUTER END LOG
  17. COMPUTER START LOG Stardate: 0309.09 Ne’Arrain R’Tor t’Batok’s log Handling the power flow and system integrity systems. I hope it isn’t more than I can handle. ::looks over to the table:: Well I have put some tech manuals onto some ISD’s to get more familiar with the system. It must have seemed odd seeing an engineer walking the cooridors with so many ISDs and engineering actually having a break from being over ran with repairs. The only question is where to start. Do I go with the system integrity or get a better look into the power flow systems?::slight pause::A better question would be what is most likely to be needed first? Either way I have a lot of reading to do. When I get a few of these ISDs read and have the time, I wouldn’t mind a chance to get a look at those systems while they are in a nice working order so I get a chance to get a feel for how they are suppose to work. That way if I have to fix them or make an imporvise, I know what I have to work with. I would hate to make an adjustment not knowing what I am cutting power from or adding power to, just incase it causes us more repair work and harm than good. COMPUTER END LOG
  18. COMPUTER START LOG Stardate 0308.28 Ne'Arrain R'Tor Bat'ok Personal Log Earlier as I looked around my quarters, I realized that this is my home now. My belongings have all been unpacked and put away. These quarters are no longer that bare empty space with bulkheads, floor plating and the standard issue furniture, but a place that is cozy and looks lived in. I had never really looked at a ship as a big house before, I always related it to a job like work and duty. Humph, well I guess, in a sense engineering would be my home since I seem to be spending the majority of my time there. I guess I could thank the klingons for that one though. I should really find some relaxing time for myself. The HIC program I have been trying to build for my spare time is really coming along. I got the weather parameters done and also some of the scenery. I have still to decide what kind of a workout or relaxing program to put in it, or if I should program both. I am leaning more to the both side though. A nice and relaxing activity would be nice following a hard and strenuous workout. That leads to the question of what activities to put in it. Do I want a free weight gym? a sports field/arena? Or just a big park or complex that contains several different options for a workout? I could set a parameter to specify which activities I wish to activate for each time I run the program to. So many options to choose and so little time to test and run trials. I think I should just spend some more thought it before continuing with the programing of it. My duties in engineering seem to be getting more and more familiar to me each shift as I spend my time in the heart of the ship. The cloak seems to like a lot of attention from its keepers, basically us engineers. Although, the engine seems to be able to work without as much supervised attention and needs as the shield requires. I have finally gotten that report from the Klingon ships data to t'Temarr. I must admit I didn't get it in as soon as I was suppose to. I hope that the report data itself meets up to her expectations. ::yawn::Well I do have a shift coming up soon and sleep is a good thing. I should get up off this chair and go to bed. 23. Anika, I am not totally sure on this but I think Blu and Kbear were running some Romulan themed academies on Monday nights. I became interested in the Romulan sim after watching some of the Talon sims. I do agree with you that the occasional academy with a Romulan or Klingon theme would give the new players a chance to experience those kind of sim, and hopefully create interest in them.
  24. Could I please get, "The Romulan Rainbow" ?
  25. Dropping in on the ships that you are interested on joining would be a good idea, so you can get a feel for how the different ships function. Also you would want to find a ship that can fit in with your real life schedule. If there is a specific posting you want then it would be a good idea to find out what ships have openings in that area before applying for a ship.
