  1. I never used to watch the stuff, but I've watched some over the past years on Tech TV. It's all English, and some of the voice actors have been in a few of the video games I've played. I don't mind subtitles though, I prefer having them when I watch a foreign film. It's just when I watch anime every now and then, that option isn't available.
  2. I wish I had heard about this when I still played Star Wars Galaxies. I used to be a doctor on Tatooine. It was a lot of fun, but this book might have helped me come up with more medical procedures/lingo to draw from.
  3. I lived in Minnesota, the winter really isn't *that* bad. Canada is probably worse. The summers are great though, 80-90 degree weather, and the days are at their longest.
  4. So the punishment for not having a passport is having to spend the rest of your life in Canada?
  5. That's ridiculous. Someone I knew called my teacher a....an unfriendly name and he just got sent out into the hall.
  6. I was XO once...I think we actually lived. Though I had to keep asking the GM what I was allowed to do. I was afraid I might take advantage of one of the "CO only" powers.
  7. I can't believe I just signed up for that....
  8. It's probably in place to clearly distinguish the Chief from his/her subordinates. As far as standing at attention, I think it should be up to the Chief of Security. As you said, in most episodes of all the Star Trek series there were only specific instances when starfleet officers would be called to attention. Some of the Department Heads/Commanding Officers had a more relaxed relationship with their crewmen, others were much more formal. The Chief should think about how his/her character would respond to their crew members in the given situation, and go with it. In an academy sim, there are only 45-55 minutes. It's hard to do a lot of "background" roleplaying when everyone is trying to follow the plot. I can't say I've had any expierience with the advanced sims yet, but I have been in several military styled roleplaying guilds in various MMORPGS (pay-to-play online roleplaying games). As you develop an ongoing relationship (not limited to these 45 minute academies where you have to "rewrite" your character) with your officers, you'll figure out what they want. Maybe you can develop a more militaristic persona when you write your logs. Then time and confusion aren't as much of an issue. Just my two latinum.
  9. Name: Calvin Nicholas Defarge Race: Betazoid Gender: Male Age: 23 Place of Birth: Unknown (Presumably Betazed, though this fact has never been confirmed) Marital Status: Single Current Rank: Ensign Current Post: U.S.S. Excalibur, Assistant Science Officer Physical Characteristics Height: 6'1" Weight: 160 lb. Eye Color: Black, typical Betazoid coloring Hair Color/Style: Dark Brown, hair is usually slightly messy Medical History - Hospitalized at age 13, severe anxiety attack - Received several follow-up examinations, for examination and treatment. - No distinguishing scars/wounds Family Information - Biological Parents are unknown Adoptive Father: Human - Atrian Defarge - Lieutenant (Senior Grade), security officer aboard U.S.S. Charlotte, now works at Starfleet Headquarters Adoptive Mother: Human - Katherine Defarge - Astrophysicist, worked onboard the U.S.S. Charlotte when her husband was transferred there, never officially signed on with Starfleet Adoptive Brother: Human - Jason Defarge - Cadet, Starfleet Academy Education - Majored in General Sciences, Starfleet Academy - Specialized in Xenobiology - Took several side classes, including Sociology, Multi-dimensional Geometry, and High Energy Physics Psychological Assessment - Had I not noticed the coloring of Calvin's eyes, I would have assumed he was human. In fact, when touching upon the subject of his native planet, Calvin seemed standoffish and uninterested in continuing the conversation. I later learned that he had been adopted by human parents, and was never raised on Betazed. However, his determination to not talk about Betazed cannot be completely explained away by his family situation. - When the subject changed to other matters, Calvin opened up, revealing an ambitious, intelligent Starfleet officer. He shows aptitude for leadership (a common trait among older siblings, adopted or otherwise), though he doesn't always offer his opinions immediately. When he does give his views, they are thoroughly fleshed out. Though he may seem quiet at first when you ask for his opinion, this isn't the case...he is simply working out the problem in his head, rather then blurting out the first solution that comes to mind. - Calvin is very capable of adapting to a new environment, making his transition to the academy very smooth. This is trait often found in children who were raised in space, as the conditions often change and transfers between starships and Federation bases are common. Soon after he arrived at the academy, Calvin was involved with the Holographic Programming Club, LOLS (League of Life Scientists, an organization offering research opportunities to younger officers), and was allowed to preform regularly as the pianist in an upper-classmen jazz ensemble - The Random Pattern. - It is therefore my professional opinion that Calvin is of reasonable mental capacity to perform all the functions that a Starfleet officer is expected of. - Lt. Leslie Matthews; Human Resources, Starfleet Academy Service Record 9809.04 Enrolled at Starfleet Academy. 0506.22 Graduated from Starfleet Academy, promoted to the rank of Ensign 0506.29 Assigned to the U.S.S. Excalibur NCC 2004 - B, as an Assistant Science Officer 0510.17 Promoted to Lieutenant, Junior Grade
  10. Hey there! Hope to see you in the academies!
  11. Yep - the one where we were surrounded by 287 Tholians. We died at the same time. ;)
  12. Hello everyone. I've probably met some of you in the sims I've participated in over the last week, but I wanted to make a post here introducing myself. I've been watching Star Trek for as long as I can remember. I've been following the Star Trek MMORPG due to come out in 2007, and happened to hear about this roleplaying community. It's been a lot of fun so far and I looking forward to joining an advanced sim. Anyway, hope to see you guys in the sims! - Cadet Calvin Defarge
