  15. =/\= =/\= =/\= MISSION BRIEFING, USS Excalibur SD 0521.07 =/\= =/\= =/\= The Excalibur is currently under repair back in the Alpha Quadrant while the crew is temporarily (we hope) assigned to the Mornigstar. The ship and crew, now at Camelot station. the Admiral and Station CO have just learned that a Romulan ship is carrying the captured Away Team, and have announced that they will be executed as spies. =/\= =/\= =/\= END BRIEFING =/\= =/\= =/\= 082105.txt
  16. Admiral Carl Sanifrest sat looking over the communiqué in his hand. The middle-aged man next to him watched intently. “So Admiral,” the middle-aged man in civilian clothing said. “What do you plant to do about that?” Carl looked up for a moment. “Well they could certainly be an asset to us in the Gamma Quadrant. And it’s far enough out that the Dominion shouldn’t get to crabby about it.” The middle-aged man smirked at the word ‘crabby.’ “Well then Admiral,” he said adjusting himself in his seat. “I can be on the next transport to the Gamma Quadrant.” “That won’t be necessary, Jon.” “Oh?” “I am going to send Wayne Day and his new boat out there. Give them a chance to get a feel for that new ship of his.” Jon lifted an eyebrow. “You don’t think a full ambassador would be better equipped?” “Not initially, no.” “But…” “We don’t know hardly anything about these people and I want a seasoned Fleet officer to check them out before we go getting all buddy-buddy with some on the Dominion’s backdoor.” “I see…” “Besides,” he continued. “If they do need a real ambassador, The FC just dispatched some pointy-ear green blood to handle the situation at Camelot with the Romulans and the Dominion. I am sure she’d be more than capable of taking care of any mess they get themselves into.” “As you wish, Admiral.” ~ FROM: Starfleet Command, Admiral Carl D. Sanifrest TO: Vice-Admiral Wayne Day, Commanding Officer USS Morningstar CC: Commander Ah-Windu Corizon, Executive Officer USS Morningstar SUBJECT: NEW ORDERS Admiral, You are hereby requested and ordered to make course from Camelot Station to the seventh planet in the Surmac system where you will be conducting an official survey of the planet, which has requested official diplomatic relations with the Federation. It’s a long trip to Surmac so I suggest you get underway as soon as possible. I have included all known information about the Surma. Good Speed. ------ Race Info: Name: Surma Appearance: Light Green with dark markings on forehead, have an almost Reptilian resemblance Formal Name: Surmac Planetary Alliance Home System: Surmac Home Planet: Sumac VII, Class L Classification: Humanoid-Plant Based Important Information: A peaceful species, they appear to be humanoid, but below their skin are fibrous planet based tissues in place of bones. They discovered warp drive three generations ago, but have only now began to explore beyond their own home system. They are at a technological level similar to Earth in 2150. They get their food energy primarily from the consumption of meat, though they are capable of photosynthesis for survival.
  17. Actually...I think I can name all the Vulcans currently in service pretty quickly: t'Vin, t'Linna, Vanroy, Tovan, Ki'Rok, t'Parek, t'Lara, GromVik, Sorehl and Quint. One of those sideffects of playing on many ships over the years
  18. I grew up the son of grocery store owners :D Coke does not distribute Dr. Pepper; they have Mr. Pibb the Coke equivilant.
  19. I swore I posted on this earlier.... Dr. Pepper actually isn't a Pepsi product, they're part of the same group that makes RC Cola...which is Cadbury Schweppes. In the United States, Pepsi distributes their product. :D
  20. Mission Brief: The former crew of the USS Excalibur has all but completed parting ways with their battered and broken ship and are settling in on their new ship, USS Morningstar. The AT has been transported to Camelot via a Romulan Vessel, they're en route to ch'Rihan (Romulus) to be tried for tresspassing. 081405.txt
  21. We've talked about this more than few times. And as everyone else has said, what it comes down to is availablity of GM's. We all have busy lifes beyond the computer, and while we try and devote as much time as possible, we can't do everything. :P
  22. The room spun around Corizon. Sometimes, to feel reality, you had to get away from it. To feel alive, you had to feel pain. Trying to kill everything away, but he still remembered everything. His mind got pushed in a deep dark hole, and then he followed it in. He just dropped in to see what condition, his condition was in Everything had gone so well. Like a sunny day with the sun shining down on you, but then he’d tripped and fallen. Tripped on a cloudy sky, and tore his mind on a jagged sky. He couldn’t feel himself anymore, feeling so faithless, lost under the surface. Put under pressure. Caught in the undertow. He was numb. Becoming something he didn’t want, all he wanted to do was be more like him and less like what ever one expected him to be. If there were Karma police, they’d have to arrest him. He gave everything he had, but never enough. He was a little bit of loneliness, a little bit of disregard, and a handful of complaints. A little insecure, but he let go…he couldn’t help everyone could see his scars. He was a soldier, with out soul. And for a minute there, he lost himself. Closing his eyes, only for a moment, it would be gone. All of his dreams passed before his eyes in curiosity. For the moment, he was happy now…feeling glad. He had sunshine in the bag. The future would wash away his past. It was a crazy train to be on, the rambling wreck of reality. But that’s how it goes.
  23. Soccer Goddess? ::ducks:: Now...for my two cents :P We're not doing business with communists, we're doing business with capitolists :P Actually most of the oil we're buying at the moment is from OPEC countries Venezuala and Russia (who we keep angering on a regular basis, but that's another topic all togather.) Secondly, Hybrids are nice and all, but not cost effective. At the moment, you have to drive your hybrid vehicle for about three years before you make up the premium you paid for said hybrid vehicle. Most newer vehicles can run E-85, as long as they are 'flexfuel' compatiable. Don't quote me, but I am pretty sure that all GM, Chrysler, and Ford models newer than 2001 are Flexfuel ready. There is actually very little the government can do about gas prices, short of price setting. Yes I know..."we can go drill in ANWR," but that's only a short term and likely not a fix at all. ANWR contains some oil, but not in the huge quantaities that we need to get to it, not to mention it's not exactly cheap to run a pipeline in the middle of nowhere Alaska. Geologists estimate that even if they do find large enough deposits of Oil in ANWR to justify drilling, it will only be a small amount when compared to the overall US Consumption. That's another issue. US consumers really hog up the stuff. I don't have the figures infront of me, but I know we consume like twice as much oil as anyone else. Why? One word....SUV Nation. Like it or not, those hulking Hummers, Explorers, Blazers, Durangos...the list goes on...use a lot of gas. And since we're the largest consumer of said SUV's, they consume a good porition of the total oil usage. This isn't really new. In the 1970's when that gas shortage occured, American's loved their big engined, big cars. Literally, compared to today's cars those babies were huge. So...what did we do? After a good kick in the rear by the Japanesse, we downsized. One more major factor, however, does have a bit of Government to blame for it. At the moment, we have a 'weak' dollar policy. Which to save you the long drawn out economic theory lesson, means that we're devaluing the dollar. In theory this will help domestic manufactures, because it means that you can buy less with your dollar abroad. However, since most of the light sweet crude we buy is imported, this means it costs more to purchase the oil than it did, say six years ago when the value of the dollar was reletivly high. So what is the solution? Alternative fuels such as hydrogen show promise, but aren't cost effective. Hybrids' seem to be the way, but until they're both cheaper to manufacture and purchase, they won't be the in the mainstream. For now, a possible solution is for the consumer-populace to be a little bit more frugal than they have been in the past. Maybe instead of buying that Huge SUV, consumers might think about buying a station wagon, which has the same amount of utlity but gets the gas milage of a regular passanger sedan. ::steps off the soap box::
  24. About $2.49 where I live now, but it's $2.67 at my parents house. Granted you pay more per gallon for the most abudant liquid on the planet (water) ;)
