  1. It's been four days since Kairi's bout with the "Tobias Virus." She had never been that close to death in her life. It kind of scared her, but she tried to not let it get to her. She was just glad that everyone made it out alright. Kairi was now itching to get back to Engineering. After receiving the antidote, she had to spend an entire day in Sickbay for obervation. She hoped she didn't have to spend that much time there again. Kairi enjoyed visiting Dr. Levy, but an extended stay in Sickbay was a little much. After she was cleared from Sickbay, she was ordered to take the next few days off of work to help reccuperate. This didn't sit well with Kairi. After all the only way she could truely relax is if she was knee deep in work. It was the life of an engineer. So for the next three days Kairi sat in her quarters. The highlight of her time off was she finally managed to catch up on a couple books given to her by her mother. Kairi layed in her bed, staring up at the ceiling. As she was beginning to fidgit, she sighed..."Being sick sucks."
  2. Kairi quietly remaind working on her little "project" in Prell's office. His office surely has seen better days. There were parts from the Chief's replicator littered on the floor, his desk communicator stripped and disruptor burns and scarring on the wall closest to engineering. Quickly Kairi began switching and rearranging parts to get her makeshift sensor to work. Honestly she didn't think about how it was going to work, just that it was. Her engineering mind had taken over and was frantically calculating. After several moments of adjustments and a quick call to the bridge, Kairi was ready to use her device. One of two things was going to happen. Either she'd be successful and provide tactical with at least a sense of what they were dealing with, or she'd die sooner than the rest of the crew. For some reason though her mind focussed on neither. Instead all she could worry about was what Prell was going to do once he found out about his office and his replicator...
  3. In the midst of all the tensions in Main Engineering, Kairi had managed to crawl her way into Prell's office. How she managed to do so without getting a plethora of disruptor bolts in the back was beyond her. She knew she wasn't safe yet though. Of course no one else on the ship was either. As she leaned on the not quite sturdy office wall, the only thing running through her mind was how she was going to disable that bomb. It wasn't going to be easy, especially since the core was also rigged to prevent tampering. There had to be some way...
  4. In a split second of chaos, everything happened. Kairi was working in engineering quietly. She had been goofing off with Saf moments before, finishing up the sensors, and running a diagnostic on other sub-systems. Suddenly all communications with the bridge had stopped. Saf went to see what the problem was, and as soon as he left, everything in engineering sealed up. Main Engineering was on lock down. Kairi was trying to fix the problem when she looked up to see several armed Romulans around her. She became startled and backed up into a console, but two of the Romulans pointed disruptors at her and made her move away. Kairi was scared. She really didn't know what was going on or how this was even possible. It was an odd feeling though. She knew she was scared and wanted to cry, but she knew she had to keep it together for the sake of the other engineers looking up to her. But at the same time, she fealt something else, something unexplainable. For the first time, she was really up close to her "people."
  5. Yay! Happy Birthday! Hey maybe the result of the crash was because they started the party a little too soon. Silly Klingons with their bloodwine, and those Romulans with their ale. Bad combination
  6. Kairi sat quietly at the helm of the shuttle, which hovered mere meters over the hull of the Agincourt. She was acting as the ships eyes for the time being, till they could get the sensors back to full capacity. The view that Kairi was currently seeing was horrific. Two ships in pieces, one Klingon, the other Romulan. Somehow they collided with eachother under cloak. This was terrible. Kairi's stomach was in knots. She kept getting bad feelings about the current situation, but she knew she needed to focus. Not only did Agincourt need her right now, but she also had to keep her eyes out for debris, and even the slight chance that another ship might appear. Still, Kairi had every right to worry. Seemed like everytime she left the ship, something went wrong. From sick Klingons, being accused of taking part in a murder, terrorist attacks, witnessing a massacre, and even being shot at by her own crewmates. Yeah, she had a right to worry. And even though her safety net was right below her, she still felt very uneasy. Kairi's mind was racing now, getting all jittery. No! She had to concentrate, had to focus. She was needed. No time to worry. No time to be afraid. But still....
  7. Kairi had been mostly quiet since the return to the ship. She had seen some things that she thought she'd never see or even think about. The hardest part about it was that it was her fault, or so she kept telling herself. Right now innocent people were getting slaughtered, and for what? Because of a failed mission or at least in some eyes it was a success. This drove hard into Kairi's heart. She didn't know what to do anymore. She didn't know if this life was for her anymore. Before leaving sickbay, Kairi was stopped by Dr. Levy. She wanted to talk about what had happened, but Kairi couldn't deal with it. She just tried to bury everything and continue about her business. Maybe that would be the best solution. After Sickbay, Kairi went straight to Engineering. After all, work always seemed to do her good. Maybe if she concentrated on work things would just go away on their own. It seemed to work for a while. Kairi was working on some plasma injectors, when images began to flood her mind. These images were accompanied by the screams, the screams of pain and death. Kairi dropped her tools and froze. She wasn't even aware that her fellow engineers had also stopped and began watching her. They weren't aware of the recent events, but Kairi was, Cause they were replaying in her mind. Tears streamed down her face. Then finally she looked around at the others who were looking at her. Kairi freaked and ran out of Engineering. She didn't stop running, almost knocking a couple of officers down. People stopped and watched her, but it didn't matter. Kairi just kept running. She didn't stop till she finally reached her quarters. As soon as Kairi stepped in, she immediately ran to the rest room and to the sink. The screams and death pounded in her head so much that it made her sick, literally. It was painful, not only physically but mentally. There seemed like there was no end to the torture. Finally after almost thirty minutes, Kairi stopped. She jumped into the shower, uniform still on, and slumped down in the corner as the warm water tried it's best to soothe her. After a few moments, Kairi finally realized her uniform was still on. She pulled her combadge off and looked at it, running her fingers along the edges of it. In a burst of rage, however, she threw the badge out of the shower as hard as she could. At the moment she didn't care where it landed. After an hour or so, Kairi's mind finally calmed down a bit as she focused on the falling water. She got out of the shower, walked into the other room and changed into a fresh set of clothes. After changing, she found her combadge and looked at it once more, this time as though she was looking through it. Kairi was unsure how much longer she could go on with this, but she was sure of one thing. She needed to talk...
  8. Rikku Kassem was peacefully in the courtyard of her home. She was tending to her small flower garden, pruning and watering the exotic plants. "Rikku, Rikku..." a urgent, yet familiar voice from the house had been calling for her. Rikku got up from her flowers and quickly stepped inside. Sun-Li an older woman, in her late sixtys quickly approached Rikku. She was quite frantic as she began to speak. "Rikku have you seen the news?" Rikku gently grabbed Sun-Li by the shoulders. "I've been in the garden all day." She smiled a bit, hoping it would soothe the older woman. "Calm down and tells me what's wrong." But Sun-Li couldn't calm down. She couldn't understand why Rikku wouldn't understand. "It's about Kairi." "What?" Sun-Li took Rikku into the living room and turned on the viewscreen. It showed the horrors of a large building on fire, parts of it collapsed on itself. Rikku was a little shocked at the scene, but then it hit her like a ton of bricks as she quickly covered her mouth. "Oh my God. Kairi was in that building." She slowly sat down in a chair, her body seemed to have weakened somehow. Sun-Li moved to her to try and comfort Rikku, but the shock was still too great. She needed to know what was happening, and more importantly if her daughter was ok. Rikku changed the image of the viewscreen and opened a channel. A young officer sat at the other end. "How can I help you ma'am?" answered the young man. Rikku seemed to pause for a moment, trying to put together what she was going to say. "I...I need to know if my daughter Ensign Kairi Kassem is alright. She is crewmember of the Agincourt and was supposed to be in the ceremony." The young man seemed a little surprised to get this call. He figeted for a moment and then responded. "Um...I'm sorry ma'am we aren't allowed to give out any information at this time." Rikku seemed puzzled. "What? What do you mean you can't give the information. I need to know if she is alright," her tone changed to frustration. "Ma'am calm down. I'm sorry but I can't say anything." Rikku's tone changed to pure anger. Tears began streaming from her face. "How dare you tell me to calm down! We're talking about my daughter!" The young man seemed a bit taken back from the sudden outburst. "Ma'am please I...." The transmission had been cut from Rikku's end. She was tired of listening to his excuses. Rikku slumped back into her seat, not knowing what to do now. Sadness and confusion most of all sat on her mind. She was a woman who always knew what to do, but for some reason she seemed helpless now. Sitting back up, she opened another comm channel, but this one seemed to take a little longer to connect. Finally the image of an older, stern but handsome man took up the screen. "Hey sweetheart. I wasn't expecting a call from you. We're almost to Rigel III." Rikku was visibly upset, something that Charles Kassem wasn't used to seeing from his wife. He knew something was wrong. "Honey? What's wrong?" Rikku was in tears now. Her voice wavering as she began to speak. "I need you. Something has happened to Kairi, and no one will help me." "What?" confusion taking Charles by surprise. "What happened? I thought she was supposed to be on Earth for shore leave." "There...there was an explosion in France, at the building she was in," Rikku barely managed to get it out. Charles sat back in his seat, thinking of what he needed to do. "Alright, I'm coming home. This shipment can wait. I'll wake Richard up and let him know what's going on," pausing for a moment, to try and figure out how to tell Richard about his sister. "It may take us a while to get home. In the mean time you try to relax. I'll see you soon." The image on the screen went blank as the comm was closed. Rikku felt a bit comforted at the thought of her family coming home. She only hoped that Kairi would be able to do the same...
  9. Things had been too quiet around here, and for some reason Kairi had been too. It all started with the Romulan uniform she found when they examined that shuttle. As soon as she saw the thing, question after question popped into her, and she just shut down from everything around her. This seems to happen a lot though. Everytime she loosens up, she runs into another barrier that makes her shut everything out. Now Kairi sat on her bed looking at a picture of her family, and more specifically her mother. She thought about all the times she confronted her mother about her real father. "Why?" she asked. "Why can you tell me anything? Who am I?"
  10. Kairi sat at in front of her mirror brushing her hair. She had already changed into her nightgown and was getting ready for bed. "Computer, begin log." It's been really slow the past couple of days. It's been a week since we returned from our survey mission to the Klingon planet, and I finally feel clean. Speaking of clean, it took us a couple days to get the battle bridge cleaned up after the excercises security and the marines conducted. Since then, things have been kind of boring, not that I'm complaining. I'm sure Starfleet will have the Agincourt on another mission soon. On to a personal note, I'm starting to feel more at home on the ship. I've actually started to relax, though I still have my nervous fits every once in a while, especially when I see new people. I try not to worry too much, I think most of the crew think I'm half-Vulcan anyways, so I try to avoid the subject. I'm getting along really well with the engineering team, and I've even made a friend. It's kinda odd, but for some reason I can tell Ron things I don't normally tell others, even my own family. Maybe it's due to the fact that we are quite similar. I was actually surprised I told him about myself though. I don't normally do things like that, but there's something about him. I'm just glad I've found someone to talk to. Anyways I can ramble on, but I'm sleepy, and I have an early shift tommorrow. "Computer, end log." Kairi smiled a bit at herself in the mirror. Then she shut off the lights and crawled into bed.
  11. It felt good to be back aboard the Agincourt. It was clean and sterile, compaired to the Klingon structures that Kairi had just returned from. Kairi removed her mask and gloves and left them in a container to be dispossed of. She then headed out into the hall with the others, but instead of going to engineering, she went to her quarters to clean up. The Chief had her notes, so he didn't need her right away. After entering her quarters, Kairi went into the bathroom and started up the shower. She then went back into the other room and removed her combadge and pip and placed them on her dresser. Once done, she then went back into the bathroom, took off her uniform, and stepped into the shower. Moments later, Kairi relaxed as the warm water ran. She was already clean, but the water was so soothing that she just couldn't leave yet. There was so much going on in her mind, and this was the perfect moment to just unwind and forget about everything else. Kairi wished this moment would last forever, but she knew it would have to end. Sooner or later she'd have to go back to work.

  13. Kairi was still trying to catch her breath, and hopefully not lose her lunch in the process. The evaluation team consisting of Chief Prell, Lunn, Pilot, Krasner, and herself had just finished checking out the Klingon sewage treatment facility. Unfortunately for Kairi, she never made it into the door. Her nose was instantly assaulted by the hideous smell, and she was forced to back away. Sometimes Kairi doesn't mind the perks of heightened senses, but this just happened to be one of those moments where she cursed them. Losing her lunch wasn't her only problem though. Kairi was very uneasy being around the Klingons, as she had every right to be. History has dictated time and again that the Klingons and Kairi's "people" don't get along. She'd just have to be careful not to raise any suspicions. Even though she was scared, Kairi did feel a bit of relief knowing that she was around friends that wouldn't allow anything to happen to her.
  14. My vote goes to Sisko. I mean everyone else was great and all, but Sisko was the only one who seemed real. He's a single father put into a position he didn't want to be in, and he has to cope with it. He also showed his emotions and wasn't afraid to do so. Everyone else seemed to perfect, and Sisko wasn't afraid to show his flaws.
  15. While Midshipman Ron Lunn worked over on the other side of Sickbay, Doctor Mithraia Coeur turned her attention to the officer that had just walked in. She approached the woman , who was a Midshipman like herself and Ron, and gently asked, "Hi .. can I help you with something?" Mia never said 'welcome to sickbay'.. it just seemed an odd thing to say when most people who came into Sickbay weren't always in the best of health. Kairi was a bit nervous when she first stepped into sickbay, but calmed down when she was greeted by Mia. "Uh...hi. I'm Kairi, the new assistant engineer." She noticed Ron in the corner looking busy, or at least attempting to. "I was sent here by Chief Prell to work on an electrical problem." Mia couldn't help but raise her eyebrows, "I.. I see. I am starting to .. to think that Sickbay must have quite a few problems that require two engineers instead of .. one." She glanced over where Ron was and then back to Kairi. "I'm sure ..that... you'd want to converse with your colleague then." She made a motion towards Ron and offered a gentle smile to Kairi. Kairi smiled back. "Yes thank you. There was something else that you can do for me, but it can wait till we've finished repairs." She nodded, "Just .. just let me know when I am .. needed." Mia felt the slightest bit uncomfortable at first, but was unsure why. She just stepped away to try and focus on work, but was sure to keep an eye on the two engineers in the corner. Kairi politely nodded to the doctor then walked over to the corner where Ron was working. She placed her toolbox down and crossed her arms. "Need a hand?" Ron turned a tool and something snapped into place. He didn't look up when he spoke to her. "No Kairi, I have it under control." He tone was short and frank. Kairi frowned a bit and sighed. She then took a seat at the edge of a biobed. "Look, I'm sorry about my cold shoulder act in engineering. I can get really defensive sometimes when it comes to...you know." Ron sighed and turned his head to look at her. "So you're half Vulcan, who cares? That's like... the first interspecies mix ever." Kairi lowered her head. "I....I'm not half Vulcan." She looked away, staring at a panel on the wall to avoid eye contact. "I..I...I'm half Romulan," she finally got out. Ron's expression didn't change. He was shocked at the news he had just recieved, but he didn't show an ounce of it. The shock only lasted a split second and then he spoke, but in a much softer tone this time. "And I'm half-Bajoran. Look Kairi, everyone has their issues with their past. Think I didn't get some wrap in Star Fleet? Why did people's parents and family have to get sent to Bajor and die there defending us from the Cardassians? Why couldn't we defend our own space? Humans see Bajorans as weak, Kairi. So the common view of your people is you're treacherous, at least you're not weak. And this whole crew knows I'm not weak .. and Kairi, they know you're not treacherous." On the other side of Sickbay, Mia tried to focus on her work .. passing time until the upcoming mission with various reports; but she couldn't help but watch the conversation between Kairi and Ron from afar. She felt.. well, she wasn't sure what she felt. Perhaps protective over Ron. Maybe even a twinge of jealousy.. no, it couldn't be. She didn't get jealous. Not her. But in the back of her mind .. she wanted to walk over there and make her presence known. She already felt a bit of an attachment to Ron even though it wasn't her usual behaviour. Despite the pained expression that seemed to be crossing Kairi's face, Ron continued his point. "My parents fought alongside Romulans." He hoped she wouldn't ask where since he kept his parent's Maquis past completely under wraps. "They're not evil, they're not monsters. They care like every one of any other species, people know that." Kairi looked back down at Ron. Tears began to form in her eyes. "I...I'm starting to realise that. It's just all my life I've.....I don't know anymore." She tried to hold everything back. "Maybe it's me. Perhaps I've been too hard on myself to truly see things around me." Ron instinctively reached out and grabbed Kairi's hand. He was always in tune with people's emotions and felt them right along with them. His grandmother had said it was his strong sense of Pagh. "Kairi... there are some things we don't say to other people, and frankly, it's none of their business. I know people will accept you for who you are, and sure some won't. But you tell people when you're good and ready too. If someone asks and you don't want them to know, tell them it's none of their damn business, and if they have a problem send them to me," he smiled. Meanwhile, Mia walked towards a stockroom and started to enter as she noticed Ron and Kairi yet again. There was a sharp inhale of her breath, and she entered the stockroom quickly, stopping past the door and biting her lip. Had she seen what she thought she had seen? Ron hold this girl's hand? No, it couldn't be. This day.. starting out so brightly and feeling so different was starting to leave the same knot in her stomach like every other day she could remember. A tear finally escaped from Kairi's cheek, then she smiled. "Thank you." She then looked over at the open panel. "Are you sure you've got that taken care of?" "Well," Ron thought for a moment and then gave her a big smile. "More hands the lighter the work, right?" Kairi kind of chuckled. "I guess this is the Chief's way of breaking the ice." She then hopped down from the bio bed. "But I think you can manage this on your own." She turned around to look at the rest of sickbay and took in a deep breath. "Besides, there's something else I really need to take care of." "Sure thing," he pointed towards the open panel, "This is a piece of cake, anyway." Within the stockroom, away from any prying eyes, Mia took a few deep breaths and began alphabetizing the hypospray medications. A perfectionist at heart.. and always eager to be consumed by her work .. this was the sort of thing she was known to do. The wait she was enduring for the mission, the mysterious conversation of the two engineers in the main Sickbay.. she just wanted to focus on something consistant: her work. She had always found people in her life to be like the ground shaking beneath her ..threatening to make her lose her balance. She tried to ignore the thought of what was going on outside the stockroom doors. "I'll see you back in Engineering when this is all done," said Kairi as she walked back into the main area of sickbay. Ron nodded and stuck his hands back into the small opening and went about his work. He was happy the air had been cleared between himself and Kairi. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, he couldn't get Mia off his mind. He didn't want to tell her exactly how much he thought about her, that she was on his mind so much it was affecting his work. He couldn't tell her about how he had been thinking about her while working on a replicator in the mess and actually done something that made it replicate everything inside out. Kairi stood in the middle of Sickbay and looked around a minute, but didn't see Mia. Then she spotted the open door to the stockroom, and walked over to it. She poked her head in and saw Mia working on something. "Um...can I bother you with something?" she said nervously. "Hydrothaline, hydroquazine.." she murmured to herself, placing each medication in perfect order. Mia blinked and glanced over to Kairi. "I.. erm .. sure, of course. Nothing is a bother in.. in this place. What ..what can I do for you?" Kairi looked more nervous, then took in a breath. "Well....since I'm new to the ship, I...I kind of need a physical." Mia stood there for a second and tried to get the image she had just seen to leave her head. "Oh, yes .. of course. Go find a biobed.. I will be out in one second... please." Mia's voice was soft, but ever professional. Kairi nodded and then left the stockroom. She looked around and finally picked a biobed and went to it. She was beginning to dread this. Why did she always have to be so nervous? She finally sat down on the bed and awaited the doctor. Mia smoothed her uniform and placed the final hypospray back on the shelf before re-entering the main Sickbay. Her glance immediately fell back towards Ron.. who seemed to be merrily working on the panel. Then she approached Kairi and picked up a scanner and a PADD. Glancing down at her PADD, "From the medical file we received when you arrived.. you had your .. your last physical about a year or so ago?" Mia looked upon the girl sitting on the biobed.. thinking she looked more nervous than SHE normally felt all the time. It was almost a comfort to her; someone else felt the same thing as her at times. Kairi nodded. "Yes. It was at Starfleet Academy." She looked at the PADD Mia was holding, and was nervous about what else could be on there. Mia cound somehow sense the girl's nervousness and thought it best to try and reassure her. "Don't.. don't be nervous about anything, miss.. this is just a standard physical. We all go through it at one time.. or another. I just need you to remove your uniform jacket so I can take a blood sample and do a thorough bioscan." Mia glanced out of the corner of her eye at Ron, then back to Kairi. She wanted to make this quick and painless. Entering a few controls on the biobed to configure it for Kairi she took a breath and then grabbed the tool for the blood sample. Kairi nodded and instinctively pulled her hair back so it wouldn't get in the way of the jacket. As it was pulled back, her pointy ears stood out for everyone in sickbay to see. Kairi then removed her uniform jacket and placed it at the side. From her arms all the way to the back of her neck, goosebumps began rising. Was it cold in here, or was it just her? Mia then approached Kairi with the tool, lifting her arm and pressing it gently to the skin.. releasing a hissing sound as it drew the information it needed. "This is .. pretty painless. I just check over your blood sample and run routine tests. If .. if anything is discovered that is unusual .. I contact you. That rarely happens though." Ron had finished doing the repairs but continued to look busy, hoping whatever Kairi was having done wouldn't take long and he could see Mia again before leaving. Mia looked at the pointed nature of Kairi's ears. She was a bit surprised at first .. but then remembered that it stated on her file that she was only half human. "Just don't be surprised when you look at the results," Kairi said a bit nervously. She was begining to calm down though. Perhaps getting it out in the open is what she really needs. Mia shook her head as she started the bioscan ..which took scans of her entire body, to break it down into data that was easy to sort through. She looked at the results as it loaded into her tricorder. "Honestly.. everything does seem to be in order. You are relatively the same as your last physical... except for a high level of stress." She paused for a moment, "Are you feeling.. okay?" Kairi glanced over at Ron, who was still working diligently in the corner, and then back at Mia. She then smiled. "I'm beginning to. Thank you." Mia blocked out the frown that was ever-so-slightly inching it's way onto her lips. She nodded, "Good.. then. Your scans seem to be fine .. just be sure to check back in if you feel any stress that is overwhelming. I will have .. have your blood sample results in a few days. .. there's a few crew that we are going through. And.. if the stress thing become.. an .. an issue. We have an excellent counseling staff." Mia cleared her throat.. feeling some what like a hypocrite when saying that. She had so many issues of her own .. yet never really talked to anyone herself. Kairi hopped off the biobed, grabbed her jacket and slipped it back on. She then readjusted her hair back over her ears. "Thank you Doctor. It was nice meeting you. Perhaps I'll see you again sometime." She smiled and looked around, "Though hopefully not here." "I can .. I can understand that. Here is your clean bill of health." Mia handed Kairi a PADD. "You are fit for duty." Kairi took the PADD and then headed for the door, but paused and glanced back at Ron. He was still busy so she decided not to bother him. Instead she headed out the door and back to engineering. Mithraia crossed her arms as Kairi left .. watching the doors long after the engineer had exited Sickbay. Mia tried to tell her mind and heart to not run away with it's visions of things going wrong. But the idea of Ron working with her .. it wasn't a feeling she liked much. But at the same time, Mia felt silly to even be thinking these things. Ron owed Mia nothing .. they weren't anything yet. Yet. Not officially. She slowly started approaching Ron again.. as Sickbay become silent except for the sounds of Ron's repairs. She wondered if he could hear the fast beating of her heart in the quiet room. Ron put his tools away and shut his box. Standing up he saw Mia coming over and waited for her with a smile on his face. "I'm all done with repairs. Everything is in perfect working condition." Mia looked at him and nodded, "I am sure that Mona.. I mean, Lieutenant Levy will be ..be glad to hear that. You are indeed talented at what you do.." "So, uh," he searched for something to say. "Everything go good with Kairi? She seems like a pretty good gal, and we kind of got off on the wrong foot but it worked itself out." Taking a deep breath, "Oh.. oh yes. Perfect health. Completely ready for duty. .. she.. she's a friend of yours?" Mia brushed back some of her hair, tucking it back behind her ear. She could hear the twinge of jealousy that had escaped from inside of her and cleverly hidden itself in that question. She wasn't used to this feeling .. jealousy had never been something she really dealt with before. "Mia," Ron smiled and gave her a funny look, "....are you jealous?" His smile grew bigger as he waited anxiously for a reply. "No." she quickly replied, but so quick that it was obvious she was desperately trying to hide the truth, ".. really. I'm not. I was just .. just wondering.. you know.. you work with her .. and all.." she trailed off for a moment and glanced away, ".. held her hand a few times.." Her cheeks flushed and she felt immediately ashamed of how she felt. It was all so new to her .. and she had no idea how to really deal with it all. "Held her hand a few times did I? Seems I recall once, and that was because she was having a bit of an issue..." Ron gazed over at the red-haired doctor, wondering what was going on in that head of hers, "Is there anything you want to tell me Mia? Are you still down with our dinner plans or is something going on all of a sudden?" She looked at him, "I definitely want to have dinner with you again." Mia was firm this time.. unstuttering. She was sure of this. Couldn't he tell that she already had deep feelings for him? "Ok, good, cause I want to have dinner with you too. I should, ah, get back to work. The chief has quite a few things he wants done." Mia nodded and smiled lightly at him, "And I have .. a big mission coming up. Tons to ..prepare for." In a moment's decision, she moved forward and leaned up, giving him a soft kiss on the cheek, and quickly moved back. ".. I'll see you when we get back ..then.. ?" Ron smiled. Mia had never been so forward with him before, and he guessed she may not have been this forward ever before. "I can't wait." The doors of sickbay suddenly slid open, and Kairi had stepped back into sickbay with a purpose. She noticed Mia and Ron together, and was suprised at first, bitting her bottom lip to hide a grin. "Sorry....I forgot my toolkit." Kairi quickly grabbed the kit and moved back to the door, but before she left, she looked back at the couple. This time she couldn't hide the grin and smiled. Then she was out the door, for good this time she hoped. Mia blinked as the voice broke her from the moment. She whirled around and saw Kairi. Her face turned a distinct tomato color as the engineer rapidly grabbed her stuff and left. She glanced back at Ron and laughed a little, ".. I.. well, I'll be getting back to work... now..." Ron grabbed Mia instinctively and held her against his chest as he laughed. "Let's hope that doesn't get too far, you know how gossip can get," he chuckled. She blushed again and nodded, "I know... but .. it doesn't bother me... " Mia let him hold her for a second and she rested against him. Her eyes closed and she realized she meant it. Nothing could really bother her right now.. everything was perfect.
  16. Kairi rushes into her quarters and seals the door behind her. Tears were streaming down her face as she leaned against the door, breathing heavy. After finally catching her breath, she went and sat down in front of her mirror, tears still running down from her lovely green eyes. Kairi looked hard into the mirror, and covered her ears with her hands. She began wondering what her life would be like if she wasn’t different than everyone else in Starfleet. Maybe things would be much better. Maybe she would actually get along with her mother. And perhaps maybe people would notice her for who she was, and not what she was. After calming down some more, Kairi got up and went to the closet. She changed out of her uniform and hung it up. Then she put on her dark red silk night gown and sat back at her mirror. “Computer, activate personal log recorder.” A small beep signified that the computer was ready. Kairi took a long sigh and began. “I blew it. My first day on Agincourt and I screwed everything up. It went well at first. I met my Department Head, Chief Prell and one of the other Assistants, Ron Lunn. They were both nice to me. Lunn even took me on a tour of Engineering, and that’s when it all went wrong. Towards the end of the tour, Lunn discovered my secret,” I said as I rubbed my right ear lobe and frowned. “He started joking with me, but I panicked and ran off. He probably hates me now, but it won’t matter. Come tomorrow, when I go to get my physical in sickbay, it won’t be long before everyone else hates me too.” Kairi stared long into the mirror, another tear slowly creeping down the side of her cheek. “Computer, end log.” Kairi then got up from her seat at the mirror and laid in her bed. “Computer, lights off.” As the lights went out Kairi laid there, staring at the ceiling. She knew she wasn’t going to be able to sleep. So much was going through her mind. Moments later however, the slight hum of the ship lulled Kairi right to sleep.
  17. Hi there. I was just wondering if one of you would be willing to make an avatar for me. Pretty please. ;) My current avatar is bassically what my character looks like. I do have a couple details: 1) My eyes are green (light green if ya have it.) 2) My hair covers my ears (It's a character thing.) 3) My skin color is pale. I would really, really appreciate it.
  18. Just wanted to pop in and say hello. Had my first Academy Sim tonight, it was lots of fun, and believe it or not, I didn't die. Well I didn't die tonight anyway. ;)
  19. English toffe. I hate the French ;) John Lennon or Paul McCartney?
  20. I think it was a good episode, but not a good finale. What's with all the downers, Trip dying and of course Elizabeth also dying. The only thing I really enjoyed was Riker playing Chef. It was the only part that really felt good about the whole episode.
