  3. (This is actually an old log. It was just never posted on the message board.) Maria stood waiting by the holodeck. A picnic basket and rolled up blanket rested on the floor next to her. She waited patiently for her dates. Those dates, were running late. In their quarters, Alex was rushing around, trying to find something. "Martin! Didn't I tell you to take out your trunks and have them ready? Were going to be late!" Martin looked at his father, grinning. "Dad, I have them on... but I put on pants over it. Would *you* walk down the halls in trunks?" He laughed. "No, I guess I wouldnt. Come on." A few minutes later, they skidded to a halt next to Maria. Alex smiled. "Sorry we're late..." Maria smiled at Alex. She was wearing a pair of gym shorts and an old shirt. "That's alright. I wasn't waiting long." She bent down to Martin. "Hi Martin. How is my favorite assistant? Ready to have some fun?" The little Zier grinned. "Always!" "Good," she smiled back. She stood back up, looking to Alex. "The program is already running." She looked down at the blanket and basket. "I brought lunch with us. No waiters where we're going." Alex winked, and picked up her things. "After you." Maria smiled and took Martin's hand, turning to the door. When it opened, it revealed a large open area. They were on top of a small hill with a creek running next to it. The sky was clear and sunny, with a few birds fluttering around. Maria led them to a tall tree which gave ample shade, perfect for a picnic. Martin smiled. "Wow! It's just like back on Earth!" He ran off and rolled down a hill in glee. She giggled at Martin's happiness. "Indiana actually. Just over there, past the trees and field..." she paused a moment as she pointed, giving a small sigh. "is home...." Alex looked at her. "Missing it?" Maria nodded in reply. "Yeah." She shrugged it off for now. "But let's not dwell on that." Putting her happy face back on. "We're here to have a picnic, and after that we may go swimming. You did bring your swimming trunks right?" He grinned. "We did." "Good," she pointed to the large tree. "We can set up over there." He nodded, and carried everything over there. "So, what's for lunch?" He spread out the blanket. Maria took the basket opening it up and digging through it. "Well since I don't like meat," she made a funny face to Martin, sticking her tongue out. "And I didn't want to scare you with one of my vegetarian dishes." She pulls out a couple baggies, both containing a sandwich. "I made peanut butter and jelly. Grape or Strawberry, Martin?" Martin laughed. "I love strawberries!" Maria giggled, "Me too!" She gave Martin the baggie with the strawberry jelly, then pulled out two canisters from the basket. "I also brought tea, and lemonade for Martin." Grabbing a cup, she poured some lemonade for Martin, giving it to him. Alex smiled. "Ah, this brings back the memories..." She smiled sweetly, "It does?" He nodded. "Not with my parents...but with the neighbors who took care of me...we'd go up in the hills and relax all the time." Smiling, she looked around at the scenery. "I used to come here all the time with my brothers. This was our playground. Even after we all grew up and moved away, I always came here every chance I got." Alex nodded and sipped his tea. "I would have loved to have siblings...." he trailed off and looked at Martin. Maria scooted a little closer to Alex, smiling. "Tell me about yourself, please? I want to know everything, even how you met Martin." "Well, you know I grew up on Betazed, with neighbors after my mother died. Sometimes it was rough, and I moved around a lot. But I always has one good friend, Old Mr. Teynor. He was a retired counselor, and was always friendly, and someone I could talk to. After years of knowing him, I realized that I wanted to do for people, what he helped me with. So, he took me to the nearest city that had a Starfleet office, and I tested to join up." "That sounds so sweet. How did you meet Martin?" He looked at Martin, who wasn't paying them any attention. "One of my teachers recommended that I spend a semester on a ship to get first person experience. My very first away mission, we discovered a pre-warp planet. We litterally beamed down in the rubble of some kind of disaster, and Martin was the only survivor we found. He was curled up in a locker, of all places, and we took him with us." "I guess we took a liking to each other, and I asked Starfleet if I might adopt him, and they agreed." She looked at Martin, smiling. "I'm glad you found each other. He's a nice boy." He smiled and nodded. "Now what about you?" Maria grinned shyly. "Do you really want to be bored with my life story?" He winked. "Yes, I do." Martin looked up at them. "Can I go and play now? I want to climb that tree!" Alex looked at Martin. "You can go, but you don't want to make Dr. Maria fix another broken bone do you?" Martin looked at her, smiled shyly, and ran off. She sighed happily as she watched Martin play. "It must be nice to be a kid. You don't have to worry about things around you." He nodded. "Yeah.....Now I believe you were going to tell me your life story." He grinned at her. He leaned back on his arms, just enought to keep an eye on Martin. "Well...I grew up here in Indiana all my life, with my parents and two brothers. My parents have a farm just on the other side of those trees." She laid back, looking up at the sky. "Life here was pretty normal, which didn't sit well with us kids. We wanted something more. My brother Greg was the first of us to join Starfleet, Charles followed after him." Maria sighed a little. "But I already told you about Greg's death. It was the reason why I wanted to become a doctor. I wanted to help people. After I graduated from the academy, I was put in a relief taskforce to help aid refugees after the war." He nodded. "And...there you have it." She giggled, "Told you it was boring." He laughed. "I guess we both had boring lives...but not since joining Starfleet." She nodded in reply, still staring up at the sky. He looked over at her. "So, why did you have us bring trunks?" The blonde sat up, pointing to the creek at the bottom of the hill. There was also a small dock and a tree with a rope swing on it. "This is where we always went swimming. I figured it might be fun to bring Martin here." She got to her feet, holding out her hand to Alex. "Care to join me?" He smilied and grabbed her hand. "Of course." He turned in Martin's direction. "Martin! Come on over here!" Alex followed Maria down the hill and watched as Martin rolled down, and stopped by the dock. Maria bent down, removing her shoes. She grinned as she slipped off her shirt and shorts, revealing her blue, one piece swimsuit. Alex smiled as he slipped off his shoes and stripped down to his shorts. He was about to say something, when Martin rushed past them, and cannonballed into the water, spraying them both. Maria laughed as the cool water splashed up. She then ran, jumping into the water. As she surfaced, she smiled to Alex. "Are you coming?" Alex was wiping his face. "I think you two have brought the creek to me!" He jumped in as well, but not splashing anyone. "Ahhhh, nice and cool..." Martin swam over, and splashed him. "Hey now!" The blonde giggled as she swam over to Alex, helping Martin splash his father. He laughed and mock protested. "Hey! No tag-teaming!" He dived, and swan under the water to tickle Martin. The boy jumped and giggled. "Stop, stop! Ok, I'll be good!" Maria just smiled as she floated, watching the two boys play. Alex turned to her. "You still haven't gotten YOUR reprimand..." He grinned, and sent splashes her way. "Hey! You asked for it." She began splashing back. He grinned, and ducked, swimming once more underwater, and popping up closer. "Boo!" Maria wrapped her arms around Alex, giving him a big smile. She leaned in and gave him a big kiss, but as soon as his guard was down, she dunked him underwater. Alex let loose a few air bubbles in protest, and rose to the surface.."Oh, that's tricky...." Martin watched from a few meters away, wrinkling his nose. "Were you two going to...kiss?" She giggled as she put her arms around him again. Maria smiled as she looked over to the young boy. "We just might, Martin." Alex looked over at him. Martin looked at the two of them. "Ewww!" He dove underwater, and left Alex laughing. "Boys..." Maria said as she kissed Alex. Alex smilied as they kissed, and put his hands around her back, pulling her a bit closer. It wasn't long into the kissing that Maria felt something fall on her, then again. She looked around as drops of rain sprinkled across the area. Soon the ice cold rain became a downpour. Maria frowned as she looked into Alex's eyes and sighed. "Oh no, I forgot the program's random weather matrix." Alex sighed. "Leave it to technology to rain on our parade..." He looked over to Martin, who was already on the shore. She smiled, as the soaked blonde gave one last kiss to Alex before she swam away to the shore. "At least we still had fun. Right Martin?" Martin nodded. "It was great!" Maria got out of the water, and slipped her now soaking wet clothes back on. She looked back at Alex still in the water and smiled. The rain just would not let up. Alex followed them both, and hurriedly put his own clothes back on.
  4. Totally ignore this. For some reason I read something, thinking it was something else. But I was mistaken. :) Now that I confused everyone, my cute, nerdy butt is going to bed... :P

  10. Aaron sat in his office, a place he hadn't had much time in since he became Chief of Science, what with all the exciting, and most recently dangerous missions. But now, paperwork was catching up with him, and he found himself staring at a roster of Science personnel. He needed to compose a good team, and that involved duty rosters. He hit his commbadge. "Lt. Westler to Ensign Daena." Ensign Nouvelle Daena was in her quarters. The young Mithraan was looking at a recent photo of the entire Ronsol clan, her family. She was so happy that she finally fulfilled her dreams of being in the stars, but a part of her longed for home. Placing the picture down, Daena picked up a paintbrush lying next to it. She turned to the easel, where her new painting was beginning to take shape. About to add a few new strokes to the canvas, her ears perked up as the comm came through. Tail swishing, she placed the paintbrush back down and answered the comm. "This is Daena. Is there something I can do for you Chief?" "Could you come down to the Science Lab, Ensign?" Her ears flattened as she grew nervous. "Right now? I mean, Yes Sir." Daena quickly put away her paints and changed back into her uniform. Once she felt her appearance acceptable, the Mithraan left her quarters and made her way down to the Science Lab after a quick turbolift ride. Stepping into the lab, the young Ensign looked around for the Chief. Aaron looked through the window and motioned for Daena to come into the office. "Have a seat!" Daena slowly nodded as her ears and tail drooped. She was so nervous, never being in the office before let alone actually speak to the Chief. The young Ensign has seen him once in a while, but she has never actually spoken to him longer than a couple words. Entering the office, Daena brushes a few strands of purple hair from her face and carefully takes a seat at the edge of the chair. Aaron smiled at her. "Relax, ensign. Did I interrupt anything when I called you down here?" Thinking about her painting, "N...no Sir. I wasn't doing anything important." Her eyes hit the floor, wondering what her grandmother Rikala would think for calling her painting nothing. Aaron looked at her, then to his console. "I was finally getting around to reading the bios of the Science crew, and I noticed you got high marks at the Academy." Her maroon eyes look up to him. "I did?" He smiled. "Higher than I did, though of course I never planned on becoming a Science officer." He looked at the PADD. "How long have you been on Gamma Shift?" Her ears perked up to the question. "Since I've been on Arcadia, Sir." She scooted, a little closer almost in catlike anticipation for something. "If I may ask, what is this about Sir?' Aaron smiled. "I'm rearranging some duty rosters, and I'd like you to be on Alpha shift, Ensign." Daena's maroon eyes lit up as her tail swished happily. "You do?" "I do. Your work ethic, though during the slowest shift, is outstanding, and we don't have anyone who knows Botany as much as you do." She smiled sweetly. "Thank you Sir." He nodded. "Your welcome. When can you start?" He winked. The Mithraan was excited, her tail flailed about. "I can start right away." Aaron grinned. "Well, let's at least wait until Alpha shift tomorrow...” "Yes Sir," She said as she slid back into her seat. Daena couldn't believe this was happening. Aaron nodded. "If you don't have anything else....you're free to go." Daena stood up and nodded. "Yes Sir. Thank you Sir." The young Mithraan almost skipped as she exited his office and the Science Lab. Aaron smiled as he watched her leave. If only he could have gone back to being that excited.
  11. I was kinda curious about that, since I'm half human. I guess my Romulan half protected me? Or is whatever affected the crew just delayed in my system?
  12. The whole DST still confuses me anyways. I'm from Indiana, and we finally decided to do the whole DST thing.
  13. Kairi had quickly and quietly excused herself from her seat at Engineering II, making for the turbolift. She gave one last glance at Prell, before looking away as the doors began to close. Prell saw Kairi leaving, sighed, and got up, sticking his arm into the doors, so as not to have them close. He got in, and stood on the other side of the lift from Kairi. She was startled at first as the doors openned once more. But the feeling quickly changed to nervousness when she realized it was Prell. Scooting towards the opposite wall, she began staring at the panels. Prell allowed the lift to drop a few decks, then spoke up. "Compuer, halt lift." Kairi flinched as the lift slowed down, eventually stopping. She bit her bottom lip, knowing what was probably coming next. He looked at her. "We need to talk, Kairi." She avoided eye contact, still focusing on the lift panels. "I...I know..." He looked at her. "You feel embarassed aorund me now?" "No...I mean, I'm not sure." She sighed. "I don't know how I feel." He looked at her, then down at his feet. "If you can believe it, I've been through what you're feeling. My 2nd host, Jyana, had a, well, interesting night." "That doesn't make me feel better." He sighed, "Kairi, we both know it wasn't really our faults...that we didnt mean, or want it to happen, right?" She looked further away, as she spoke softly. "I'm not so sure anymore." Prell froze, and looked up at her. So this was what all the avoiding was about. Damn, he should've seen it earlier...."You're...not sure..." She quietly nodded in response. He ran a hand through his hair...."Well..." He sighed. Kairi finally, for the first time since she entered the lift, looked away from the wall and up to Prell. A single tear fell down her cheek. Prell looked at her, then moved toward her a bit, a bit hesistantly. She too, felt herself being drawn towards him. He finally walked up to her, and gave her a hug, letting her head fall onto his shoulder. His hug was very warm and inviting. His shoulder very supportive. She quietly returned the hug as she felt a couple more tears fall. Prell exhaled. Now that it had been shown to him, he realized he had felt the way Kairi had for quite some time now. But what to do?.... Kairi also found herself in a confusing position. She wasn't sure she had ever really been in this kind of situation before. He looked down at her face. "Well, the cats out of the bag now, isnt it." She nodded in reply, "I suppose so..." He wiped some tears off her cheek. "You feel better now that it's out of your system?" "I do," she said as she finally pulled away from him. "I hated giving you the cold shoulder, but it seemed like the only thing I could do at the time." He nodded. "I understand." He looked at the panel. "People are going to start wondering where we are...." he smiled. "Umm, would you like to come by my quarters, um, for dinner later? We can talk then..." "Sure, I'd like that. It'd help to get things into the open," she smiled. "Mona is going to be happy," Kairi said quietly to herself. "Computer resume lift." He nodded. "It will." He looked at her as the doors swooshed open on her deck. "I'll see you later..." She stepped out of the lift, turning to look at him once more. "Ok. You better get back to the bridge before people notice you are missing." He smiled. "I'm a department chief, I can have whatever excuse I want..." He winked. Kairi smiled at him as the lift doors closed and she turned to walk towards the cargo bay. It did feel good to finally get things off of her chest, but in the process, was she just making things more confusing?
  14. 0100. A regular old witching hour. Not many people were out in the halls at this time. Jamie wouldn't have either, but Odile loved to create paperwork for him. He paused for a moment, realizing he was on Kairi's deck. She might still be up, recent work had taken any chance of them to see each other after their little scene in the labs. He made a quick walk over to her door and chimed. Kairi was just slipping her nightie on when the door chimed. "I'm coming!" she yelled as she almost tripped on something, trying to quicken her change. When she finally finished changing, she made her way to the door, openning it. Kairi almost began laughing when she realized it was Jamie. Amnesiac or not, he always seemed to pick his moments for showing up. Maybe she'd have to scan her room later for cameras or other devices. "Hi," she said smiling to him. He shifted uncomfortably, afraid he had awaken her, but then...what was the amused look on her face for? "Uh...did I wake you, or interupt...?" She giggled at his awkwardness. This may be something she had to get used to. She placed a hand on his to reassure him. "No, I was just changing. What brings you here?" He looked down to his dishevled uniform with a tinge of embarrassment. He looked like a man who just got off a sixteen hour shift. "Oh uh, I just got off duty, and I realized I was on your deck...so I thought I'd uh...drop in, see how you are." She bit her bottom lip gently, as she looked to him. Giving a little tug on his arm, she took a step back. "You can come in if you want." She looked down at her silk nightie, a little embarassed for some reason. "I wasn't going to bed yet, despite my looks." He tried to resist it, he really tried, honest. But his brow rose at her last comment, as he followed her in. "So uh...how was your day?" "It was good," Kairi said as she led Jamie to a seat. She then sat across from him, crossing her legs. "We managed to get most of the minor repairs complete today." He nodded. "Thats good. None of us can really function without you. You uh...guys down there. In engineering. Yeah..." She laughed at his comment. This was definately going to take some getting used to. It was like talking to a complete opposite of the "old" Jamie, but it wasn't a bad thing. She tried to help him out by changing the subject. "So how was you're day?" He sighed, shrugging his sore shoulders, sitting at a desk all day filling forms took its toll. "Tiring. Theres nothing like coming back to the job to find a mountain of paperwork on your knife carved desk." "Oh you poor thing. Maybe this will help you." Kairi got up and walked behind him. Added a slight bit of pressure, she began to massage his shoulders. "How are you adjusting to...well...her?" He settled in, her fingers working magic on him. "Apparently Old Jamie..." He paused for a moment. Was that was he was calling himself? He really needed to think of something catchier. "Anyways, I guess we hated each other, but now...I don't think its so bad. It's actually kind of amusing when its not directed at me. I think she just likes to be infamous." She smiled as she continued to rub, occaisionally working the back of his neck too. "She does have her way with people." He smirked, thinking of just the few occaisions he's been exposed to her. Some of his staff threated writings of books. "Shes...unique. I have to give her that much." "Yes she is, I guess that's just part of the...charm." She probably could have used a whole variety of words there. "Anyways, I'm glad you're adjusting well." "It's not so bad. Although the conversations that begin with 'Remember the time...' are getting annoying. Besides, I can handle one bucky assistant. How are things with you and Javin? Kairi paused for a moment in her massage, but quickly resumed. "Javin? Oh, everything in engineering is just fine. There's really nothing of interest going on." He noted the pause as the final piece in the puzzle. "You know, back at the hotel...you said you knew I was lying. I'm getting that same impression from you right now. I saw that awkward little moment before we left. Whats wrong?" This was it. There was no escape. She had managed to avoid it before, but Jamie wasn't going to let it go. She stopped the massage abruptly and sighed. How was she going to do this? Kairi came back around to face him. She got down on her knees, taking both of his hands. It was time to tell him. Tears welled up in her eyes, as she dropped her head down on his knees, unable to look him in the eye. "The other day...." she paused, trying to find the strength. Looking back up to him, the tears fell. "The other day, I...I slept with Javin..." She dropped her head again, as she visibly began to cry. "I'm so sorry..." He was suicidal. She slept around. The marriage counseling would cost latinum the size of asteroids. Odd thing for the first thing to pop into his head, but then again, he was technically brain damaged. "I...uh...huh." She looked up at him, her eyes turning a bit red from the crying. "Please...say something...anything..." His thought processing had slowed to a crawl. It was a fifty car pile up on a major interstate highway. "I...uh...why?" "I...I don't know, honestly. We were just having dinner, it wasn't even planned." She turned away, completely ashamed of herself. "The next thing I know, we're waking up together in a hotel room." His fists clenched with an anger he didn't know he had...or had forgotten. "What, did he get you drunk!?" She was stunned by the sudden anger, but tried to calm him down by placing a hand on his fist. "N...no..It wasn't his fault. I swear it. When we ate, we had this exotic fruit for dessert. We suspect it has something to do with it, but I tried to go back to the restaurant to talk with the waiter, but he was gone." Kairi looked him in the eyes, as sincere as she possibly could. "Accident or not, it happened. I can't do anything to change that. I wish I could." She lowered her head again. "You needed to know. I...I'm sorry for trying to hide it." His hands loosened as the accident cleared up. "Wait...I'm confused. Aphrodisiac fruit?" She slowly nodded. "That's what we think. Believe me, Javin and I are friends, nothing more. Neither of us would willingly do this." His expression changed now, of one to almost amusement. "So...you're not hot for him. Some wacky waiter apparently slipped you sex drugs, which produced passionate, unwanted sex by said drugs?" She looked up at him confused, as a tear fell down her face. Was he joking around? He knew it was good not to go so far as to laugh. He gently lifted her chin with his finger, a sincere look on his face. "If that's true, why are you fretting so much? It was unwilling, and from the way I've heard these sorts of things go, unrememberable sex. And here you worried me, thinking you were having like...an actual affair or something." She sniffled, as she wiped her eyes. "I...I'm sorry." He pulled her up, hugging her in an almost santa like fashion as he set her down on his lap. "Don't be. I'm sure weirder things have happened on a shoreleave then this." "I suppose so..." She rested her head on his shoulder. She sat there for a while, taking in his warmth, finally calming down. After some time, Kairi looked over at the chronometer on the wall. "It's getting late. I'm probably keeping you up." He smiled at her. "You're sweet, but I slept enough in sickbay. I've been almost insomniatic since I woke." She looked him in the eyes. Somethings about him haven't changed. She got up, and pulled him out of the chair. "Still, we both have a big day tommorrow. Come on, I'll walk you out." He smirked, he almost had to as he followed her to the door. She stood in the doorway smiling to him, gripping both of his hands. "I'll see you tommorrow." He smiled back at her, feeling the softness of her skin before pulling away. "Fair enough. Goodnight." "Night," she said as the door closed. Kairi turned, leaning her back against the door, and let out a big sigh. She then slid down, sitting on the floor. It took a moment, but soon she began crying again, long and hard. She was so close to losing everything, and it tore at her. It didn't matter if he forgave her, the fact that it almost happened was enough. She buried her head in her knees and continued to cry. It was probably good for her, and would serve as a reminer, to make sure nothing like this ever happened again.
  15. (Here's a little crossover log for you guys to enjoy.) Left Ear sat at a little table located on the outside patio of "The Lame Duck", a bistro situated just off the bay and a popular destination for civilian and fleeters alike. She was staring out across San Fransico Bay, watching the hoverboats float this way and that, but her thoughts were decidedly elsewhere. Maria was walking down the walkway towards the cafe. She noted to herself how lovely the day was. It was perfect for lunch outside. Arriving at her destination, it wasn't hard to pick out Left Ear among the crowd. She walked up to the table. Ever the doctor, Maria was still wearing her white coat. "It's a beautiful day," she smiled. "It's so good to see you again M'Vess." The tawny furred Caitian got up quickly from her chair and gave her former comrade a welcome hug. "Snuck up on me. How are you Maria? It's been a while." Her happy purring was evident. Giggling from the feel of the fur, Maria returned the hug. "I'm doing well. And by the looks of things, so are you." She releases herself from the hold and took a seat across from her friend. "I hope you haven't ordered yet. I'm starving." "I am doing well, aye. We've both come a long way since the Excal days. And no, I haven't ordered; I was waiting on you. They have a shrimp dish here that is to die for, and it very much has my name on it." Giving a supposititous smile, Maria nodded. "I hear the salads are good here." Left Ear chuckled. "Everything is good here. Hang on, let me harass a waiter." She waved a paw in the air to get a server's attention. After the drinks and food had been ordered, the Caitian Lieutenant Commander asked her companion. "How are things going at Fleet Pediatrics?" Maria takes a sip of her water. "It's going really well. They're keeping me busy, but I still have plenty of time for family. Speaking of, Alex says hi. He would have been here, but he has Lisa today. Can you believe she's going to be a year old in two months?" "Tell him I say hello as well. A year? I still remember when Julie was born - we had a bet going in the security offices, the closest one to your actual hour of birth won!" JoNs chuckled. "I remember that cause Alex was off by a couple hours," she laughed, as she started playing with one of the breadsticks on the table. "Julie started crying when she found out she couldn't come see Aunty Lefty today. And poor Aidan started crying because she was crying." The Caitian chuckled. "I did not mean to cause an uproar in your house Maria. Matter of fact," she reached down to grab a small shopping bag nestled beside her chair. "These are for Julie, Aidan and little Lisa. Caitian gifts - a necklace for Julie, a stuffed animal for little Lisa, and a remote control hover board model for Aiden." Left Ear grinned wickedly and said, "tell Aidan to aim for the good china," and then winked. "Oooo...That's so sweet, M'Vess. They'll love them. Thank you so much." Maria took another drink of water, as she looked across the table to her friend. "So I told you what's been going on in the Zier household. How are things with you?" She took a sip of her drink and then answered. "I have to say things are going well. The Yellowjacket is a good ship to serve on, and it keeps me busy. The brothers are all doing well with their assigments, and Vrrowl's medical practice is thriving. "I hope you're keeping those young ensigns in line." "Oh you know me. I've shot a couple of them out of the forward torpedo tubes, and eventually the others get the message. The captain always gets so annoyed at me when we need to put in more personnel requests." Maria laughed, "You haven't changed a bit." She gave a small sigh. "I've missed you. I can hardly keep track of everyone else." "I know that Corizon is of course an admiral, and Commander Laarell is still serving with him as well. But, it is hard to keep track of us all." Maria nods in response. "How's your family?" She paused akwardly for a moment after that, realizing what she asked. Left Ear became highly interested in her paws at that moment, resting in her lap. "I'm sorry...I forgot." Maria frowned. "I know what you're going through." The middle aged felinoid looked out across the bay. "Still no word on the Agincourt, or Kairi, or Mrrett...I feel so helpless." Tracing the paterns of the tablecloth, the blonde haired doctor looked out to the bay as well. "I heard that the Capta...I mean Admiral Corizon was spearheading the investigation." She gave a little smirk, taking solice in that fact. "If anyone can find anything, I'm sure he will." JoNs turned her attention back to Zier. "Maria, the 'Court followed whoever attacked the transport ships into some kind of wormhole...they could be anywhere in known time or space." Maria sighed, still looking out at the bay. "I know, but you have to believe they are alright, no matter where they are. We can't give up." Her eyes then went to the sky. "You know...I miss it, being up there." "I know you do. Sad thing is, it's times like these where we realize the dangers inherent of service. I hope they are both all right, taking care of themselves. My family gathered at my uncles home...we performed a Caitian ceremony of prayer...just hoping it would help..." Left Ear trailed off. Her eyes finally fell back to the Caitians. She reached across the table, laying a hand on her soft paw. "I'm sure it will. We could all use a little prayer." JoNs turned back to Zier. "I also keep thinking that I can't be there for Mrrett anymore. I was her sponser through the academy and a few of her training assignments. She's an officer, out on her own. I just hope she is alright." Maria rested her chin on her other hand, thinking of when her niece Kairi entered the academy. She gave M'Vess' paw a gentle squeeze. "They've grown up on us. The only thing we can do is trust in their skills."
  16. Prell sat down in a nice restaurant, enjoying his shoreleave on the strange station. Earlier, as he had walked the corridors, he had wondered what was powering the spiraling lights strung along the ceiling. For an engineer, stepping onto an unknown station or ship was a new and challenging experience. Kairi was wandering about the station. There was so much to see and do. First thing first, she was hungry. She noticed a nice restaurant off to the side of the main promenade. As she entered, she saw a familiar face amongst all the strangers. She casually approached the table Prell was sitting at. "Hi Chief." He looked up. "Ah, Kairi. How is your shoreleave going?" "It's going really good. I was looking around some of the exotic shops, and I decided to get something to eat." She giggled, "Just when you think you've seen everything, something else is just around the corner." He nodded. "It's always fun to see a new place. Care to join me for some food?" She smiled, taking a seat across from him. "I'd love to. Have you ordered yet?" He shook his head. "Not yet, oh, there's the waiter now." Larish, the waiter, approached the table and handed them both a menu. "Welcome to Xrvsoihva, how are you two tonight?" Kairi grinned, at the vibrantly blue skinned man. "Just fine, thank you. We're new here. Can you tell us what the specials are?" Larish grinned. "Ah, yes, we have the best of our specials on today. We have Skriva meat stew, Chef's Meat and Cheese Rollups, and a Pasta Delight plate, with a side of our famous fruit." Kairi looked over at Prell, who looked like he was hurting himself trying to understand the menu. She giggled a little as she looked back to Larish. "The Pasta Delight sounds good. I'll have that." Prell looked up. "Ill, uh, have the same, please." Larish smiled as he took the menus. "Excellent choices. I'll have the chef prepare them immediately." He left, walking through a set of doors at the end of the dining hall. In the kitchen, Larish thought for a moment. The two were obviously a couple, given the way the lady was grinning and giggling. Always the romantic at heart, he decided to help them along. Preparing the plates to take out, he placed different fruits on each of their plates, smiling. "There, those will help them quite well." About 10 minutes later, Larish returned with their plates, and two spiraling champaigne glasses. Kairi smiled at the waiter as he served us. "Oh that looks great. Thank you very much." Larish nodded. "Of course ma'am. I'll return shortly with your pasta plates." Prell smiled at him. "Nice place they have here." He looked around. She nodded in agreement. "Yes it seems quite large. Maybe it's a part of something, like a hotel maybe." "Possibly. Do you know if Johnson finished his repair project?" "He was just finishing up when my shift ended. Looks good so far." Larish returned then, placing two, hot and steaming plates of different pastas before them. He also gave them a smaller plater of fruits. "Enjoy!" "Thank you. Looks yummy," said Kairi as she looked at her plate. Prell thanked the waiter, and tried a spoonful of the pasta. "Mmm, tastes a little like fettucini alfredo, from earth." Kairi agreed quietly, as she began eating her pasta. He forked what looked like a strawberry off the plater. "This isn't so bad either." She sampled one of the berries, following it with a sip of her drink. "Yeah. It's pretty good." Prell looked at Kairi strangely. Kairi giggled as she ate a couple more of the berries. "Is it getting warm in here?" Prell stuck a finger around the inside of his collar. "Yes, yes it is." She smiled as she drank more of her champagne. For some reason she couldn't take her eyes off of Prell. Likewise, Prell was finding it hard to make his fork find his mouth, he was staring and thinking at Kairi so much. Something told him something was amiss, but he shrugged it off and attempted to finish his dinner. Kairi looked around, then back at Prell. She smiled, as they locked eyes. "Would you like to go for a walk? Maybe that'll help cool things off." He nodded. "I'd like that." He stood up, and dumped some credits onto the table. Kairi got up as well, following after Prell. Before the break: Larish watched as the two stood up and left the restaurant, not able to keep their eyes off each other. He smiled and shook his head. "Works like a charm every time...." --------------------- Hours later, Kairi began rustling about. She was just starting to wake up, and felt unusually warm, but was quite comfortable. As she openned her eyes, the first thing she saw were spots. Spots? Had she been drinking? It took her a moment, but she soon recognized them as Trill spots. Kairi lifted up her head from Prell's chest. What was happening? She looked around the room. It wasn't familiar to her. Perhaps they were in a hotel room. It was then she noticed a pile of clothes tossed across the room. Kairi sunk back into the bed. "Oh no." As Kairi moved deeper into the bed, Prell woke slightly, with a groggy head. "Mmhuh?" Kairi wasn't sure what to do. She wasn't even sure how she got into this situation. All she knew was that she was laying in a bed, naked, with her boss. Prell streched his legs and arms, as he normally did when waking up. Though today, he felt something soft, fleshy next to him, and his eyes snapped open. "What the....?" He looked over and saw Kairi. "Um...Good morning?" was the only thing that came to her mind. Prell almost laughed, but the situation didnt warrant a laugh. He sat up so quick his head swam in dizziness, and fell off the side of the bed. Kairi covered herself in the silk sheets, leaning over the bed. "Chief, Javin, are you alright?" On the floor, he grasped for a sheet, but only managed to pull the one she was clasping towards himself. She reached down and tried to help him up. He looked up, and accepted her hand, covering himself. "Ok..what happened....?" She sat up, covering herself agin in the sheets. "I...I...don't know..." Looking over at the clothes at the other side of the room again. "Did we...?" He looked at the clothes pile. "I, we...." Kairi flopped back on the bed, giving a big sigh. "Oh boy....." What had happened? Prell thought back to his last thoughts....before he had woken up. He gasped. "OH, damn." She sat back up, trying to figure what to do. "What now?" "It was the fruit. It had to be." She nodded, placing her head in her hands. "I can't believe this..." He looked at her, then looked away. "I, uh, I'll go back to the Agincourt...." Kairi quietly nodded. "Oh...alright..." Javin quickly threw his clothes on, opened the door, peeking out first, then walking out, shutting the door behind him. He stopped against a wall a few meters down the corridor and just stood there. "What the...." Kairi layed back down in the bed, staring at the ceiling. Confusion sat in. Confusion of what happened, but more importantly, confusion about what was going to happen next. Was this just a freak accident, or was there something more to this?
  17. Prell stepped out of the Senior Staff meeting as it ended, and leaned up against the wall for a moment, getting his bearings and clearing his mind. The last few days had been really tolling on him, but he was trying not to show it. There was too much to do. As he thought that, he straightened up and continued down the hall, toward the turbolift, and the Alpha engineering lab. Kairi had just stepped into the engineering lab. She had just spent the last few hours in the holodeck with the Shadow, watching movies. It was to help him understand the vast array of human emotions. They had just finished watching Gone with the Wind. A few minutes later, he walked into the lab, nose buried in a PADD, and almost bumped right into Kairi. "Oh! I’m sorry." Kairi wasn't paying much attention herself. She smiled at him. "Hello Chief. I didn't see you there." Prell smiled. "How are things holding up in here?" She looked around, returning his smile. "Oh things are going pretty well. How is Beta doing?" He put his PADDs down on a table, sighing. "As best as it can...we took a pretty bad beating." "I bet..." she replied. She sat at the edge of a console. "I've been meaning to ask you something. People seem to be really down the past few hours, but no one would tell me what is wrong. I would’ve thought they'd be happy we were all together again. What is going on?" He looked at Kairi, puzzled. Then it dawned on him. "Oh." She frowned at him, wondering what was happening. He took a deep breath. "During the battle before we past through that wormhole, and during the wormhole events itself, Captain Davies was seriously injured." "Fatally enough that Gamma had to put him in stasis. From what I've heard, he is essentially, well....." He took another deep breath. Kairi was in shock. Did she just hear that right? She gasped and put a hand over her mouth. Her eyes began to well up with tears. "Are....Are you sure?" He nodded. "I haven't seen for myself, but I was with Harper when she found out." She did something a little out of character. Kairi, tears running down her face now, went to Prell and hugged him. "This is just one nightmare after another." Prell was a bit surprised, but hugged her back. "I know....it's like it never ends." She buried her head in his chest, soaking his uniform with her tears. "I want to go home..." Javin was quiet. He didn't know what to do at the moment. His symbiont Prell was feeding him help on what to do in this situation, but none seemed right. He and Kairi were good friends, but she had just taken him by surprise. She looked up at him, wiping her tears. Kairi stepped away. "I...I'm sorry..." He looked at her. "No, no it's ok. I was..just...surprised." Kairi sniffled as she continued to wipe her eyes. She tried to recompose herself into a professional manner. "So what are we going to do now?" He looked for words to say. "Harper wants the repairs done as fast as we can manage it. We need to find the ship, or ships that opened the wormhole to here.” She only nodded in reply. Her eyes still trying to fight the tears. Prell looked at her. "Are you going to be ok?" He looked at her, worriedly. "Y..yeah I'll be fine." She tried to force a smile, but found it hard. " I could use a little food and some rest." He nodded. "Isn't that the advice you gave me a few hours ago?" She gave a genuine grin. "Yeah, I suppose it was. Do you have time to get something to eat? I...I kinda don’t want to be alone right now..." He nodded. "Sure, come on." She smiled at Javin. "Thank you." He smiled back. "No worries." The two leave the engineering lab, heading for the mess hall.
  18. Picture: General Information: Full Name: Kairi Kassem Preferred Name: Kairi Call Sign: Flux Gender: Female Age: 26 Species: Half Human, Half Romulan Height: 5'7'' Weight: 113 lbs. Hair: Long, Raven Black Eye Color: Light Green Skin Color: Pale Complexion Noticeable Features: Pointy Ears Place of Birth: Hong Kong, China, Earth Family: Rikku Kassem (Mother) Biological Father Unknown (Suspected Romulan Galae Officer) Charles Kassem (Step-Father) Richard Kassem (Half-Brother) Service Information: Rank: Lieutenant Commander Position: Chief Engineer Assignment: USS Agincourt Personal History: Kairi was the product of a forbidden love. When Kairi's mother was in Starfleet, she was a young ensign in the Dominion War. About two years into the war, Rikku's ship was destroyed and many of the crew captured shortly after escape. While Kairi's mother spent the rest of the war in a prison camp, she met a young Romulan officer who was also a prisoner. Not long after, the two fell in love, but was unable to truly express it, due to the harsh prison environment. After the war the two were freed from the prison, and were finally able to truly be together. During the couple of months they were together, Kairi was conceived. The relationship between Kairi's parents quickly came to an end, however, due to her father returning to Romulus. To insure his safety in the Romulan Galae, Rikku vowed to never reveal the identity of Kairi's father. Not long after their departure, Rikku returned to Earth and resigned her commission in Starfleet after realizing she was with child. Rikku then returned to her home city of Hong Kong. It was there, months later, that she gave birth to Kairi. A couple years later, Rikku met and married Charles Kassem. After about a year, Kairi's half-brother Richard was born. Kairi had a rough childhood, which she blames on being half Romulan. She was picked on and taunted most of her childhood and into her teenage years. It came to the point where she even resented herself for being half Romulan. Her mother tried to consol her and tells her that she should be proud of her heritage, but this lead to many arguments. When Kairi was old enough, she left home and joined Starfleet Academy without hesitation. Academy: Kairi didn't have many friends in the academy, which she actually didn't mind. She spent most of her free time studying for her engineering classes. She found that if she kept herself busy, she didn't have to worry about other people and how they saw her. She worked through the ranks pretty well, and soon became one of the top in her engineering class. Personality Profile: Kairi is very defensive, and tries to hide the fact that she is half Romulan. This leads to her nervousness and paranoia about what others think of her. Those that have been able to befriend her, have found that she is a very kind, caring, and reliable individual. The subject of her family is a very touchy subject. Kairi sometime gets aggravated when others try to discuss the issue. Her relationship with her mother has been very rocky. It is even rumored that Kairi removed her last name just to spite her mother. Although she has issues with her mother, Kairi still stays in contact with her brother Richard. After recent events, Kairi has resolved her issues with her mother, and tries to stay in contact as much as she can. She began accepting who she was, and with the help of her love interest, James Kroells, she has been learning about her Romulan herritage. Kairi longs for the day where she discovers who her real father is, and maybe get the chance to meet him. Medical Profile: Due to Kairi's unique physiology, she has been in almost perfect health all her life. She has never had any major illness and has never had a broken bone. Her last check up was the academy entrance physical. Note: Kairi fell victim to the Tobias Virus durring an away mission. This fatal virus caused her entire immune system to completely break down. Thank to a timely antidote, she was restored back to perfect health. Service Record: Stardate 0505.24 - Graduated from Starfleet Academy Stardate 0505.25 - Assigned to USS Agincourt as Assistant Engineer Stardate 0507.06 - Promoted to Ensign Stardate 0509.21 - Promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade Stardate 0601.18 - Awarded the C.S. 19. Just giving this a little bump. :(
  20. With a long sigh, Kairi openned the door. She stepped into the empty quarters and looked around. This was going to be her new home for a while, since her quarters were located on Beta. Even though she was in charge of engineering at the moment, she was practically ordered by the rest of the team to take a break. Ever since Alpha showed up in the middle of nowhere, Kairi had been busy coordinating repairs and making sure the ship was ready. She was under a lot of stress. The hydraulic lift to the upper warp nacelle was damaged and needed structural repairs before the ship could go to warp. So until that was finished Kairi was facing some downtime, and she hated it. Kairi walked into the bathroom and looked into the mirror. She still had a large cut above her right eye from her encounter with the floor. It wasn't serious. It had stopped bleeding a long time ago and Kairi had forgotten about it. Once thing calmed down, she'd go to sickbay to get it properly taken care of. Turning on the sink, she began splashing her face with the lukewarm water. After she cleaned the cut with a damp cloth, Kairi stared into the mirror. The only thing she could focus on right now was her friends. Where had the other two ships gone? Were they alright? The urge to breakdown and begin crying was strong, but Kairi fought it. She needed to keep it together, for the sake of everyone else. With Prell gone it was up to Kairi to set an example to the rest of her team. Right now crying wouldn't help anything
  21. “Familiarity” A Kroells and Kassem production James folded his arms across his chest, watching Harper and Nelar spit words at each other. The chase was fun, but watching this was quickly boring the senior lieutenant. His eyes drifted over to Kairi, with whom he still had business to conduct. She was quietly hiding behind Prell. The thought off all these phasers near the warp core had made her very uneasy. She just wished they would all leave. He repressed a smirk, watching her hide behind her chief, her lover. Prell could complicate things, he had to get her to him without drawing the Trill's attention. He'd just have a fit anyways... Why hadn't they left yet? Didn't they realize where they were, and how easily they could destroy the ship. She looked around at all of the security and other people around her. Then she noticed him. He was the only one not focusing on the Colonel or the Klingon. Instead, he was focused on her. 'Why is he looking at me?' she thought to herself. He gave her a small reassuring smile, and motioned her over to him. Now would be the tricky part. Kairi seemed even more confused than before. He was calling to her, but why? Curiosity got the better of her, and she began moving towards him. He watched her hips sway as she walked towards him, a small grin forming in the corners of his mouth. This was definitely going to be fun. "I need you to come with me." "Why should I?" she replied back. Something was odd about him, especially with the way he kept grinning at her. He leaned in, his mouth precariously close to her ear. He let out the faintest of whispers, that only she could hear. "Because Romulan, I told you to." A look of shock crossed Kairi's face. She was found out. Did he know about how she helped N'Dak escape the Agincourt? Or maybe he discovered her connections with the Resistance. Turning a bit pale, the only thing she could respond with was, "h..how?" He looked past her, to all the others still around them. Way to many for his plans. "Not here. Take us someplace secluded." "W..where do you want to go?" she said still a little stunned. He looked her up and down. "...I'm sure you know of a few places where we can be alone." She tried to regain a little composure. Take him someplace in your own element, someplace quiet. "My quarters isn't far from here." He gave her a small nod, and let her lead the way. He had to admit, she was good. Taking him to her quarters, her ground. He'd have to reserve a small amount of caution. Kairi took a side exit from Engineering, and headed calmly down the corridor. Eventually she stopped at the entrance to her quarters and opened the door. Not waiting for some sort of courtesy, she entered. James quickly entered behind her, waiting for the door to close before doing anything. He quickly surveyed his surroundings, looking for what was dangerous, and what wasn't. She turned and got straight to it. "How do you know about me?" He rolled his eyes. "I'm the son of the Imperial Governor of Romulus. I've spent nearly half my life with your ilk. I've known since the moment I saw you." She leaned against her desk, a little relieved, but perhaps he still knew more than he was leading on. She needed to play this cool. "I see. I guess not everyone can be fooled by a simple story." He watched her movement, her body language, trying to gauge her reaction to his line. "Your stance...your expressions clearly show you have something to hide. I'd work on that in the future, if you hope to go anywhere in this fleet." "Oh really? I'll take that into consideration." Ugh...no need to get smart-ass on him. Try to turn this into your favor. Perhaps he's just after something a little more simple. Kairi leaned back a little more, giving a little smile. "What exactly do you want from me?" He let out a small chuckle, crossing his arms. "There are many things I want from you." "What might those things be?" she said as she took a seat on the edge of the desk. His eyes fought to stay focused on hers. He hated to admit it, but she was rather enticing. But alas...business before pleasure. "Firstly...I want to know what subterfuge you've had a hand in on this ship." Her voice changed to a little more of a flirty tone. "I don't know what you mean," she replied with a slight smile. He watched her work. She was good, no doubt. He had to wonder if he was the first to discover her mixed heritage. He had to wonder if she'd done this before. "Don't take me as some sort of a fool. I know there is a resistance cell on this ship. However, before it was little concern of me." His face hardened, he'd have to make this a good bluff. "I know your a member Kairi. There's no point in denying. As Operations Manager, I could tear through anything I need until I either find, or make the proof I need." Was he bluffing or not? This was a very dangerous game she was playing right now, a game she wasn't willing to lose. "I've heard rumors of a resistance, but that's all they are, rumors." She hopped off the desk and moved a little closer to James. Giving him a tempting grin. "And I can assure you, I'm not a member even if there really was a cell." He took in her scent, but determined to stay focused. "Did Prell coach you that line? I wonder if he'd approve of you trying seduce me." She inched even closer to him. "I don't need him to tell me anything, let alone give me his approval. I do what I want." She leaned into him, whispering, "And who I want." She was being too difficult, and at the moment, he didn't have to time to break her. So, he'd have to settle for his secondary objective for the moment. "Prove it." Kairi ran her hand gently through his hair, as she slowly moved in on him. She pressed her soft lips to his in a long kiss. For that brief moment, she couldn't think of anything else but that kiss. She was soft, and warm, and for a second, James forgot why he was here, and what she was to him. His hands found her back and began to roam as he slipped his tongue past her lips. She broke away briefly as she stared into his eyes. Something was odd, but not in a bad way. She forgot about everything; N'Dak, the resistance, Dee, even Prell. Even though they had met practically for the first time, something seemed strangely familiar about this. It was almost as if this has been played out time and again. Perhaps it occurred in a past life, or something beyond. Kairi wrapped her arms around him as her lips met his once more.
  22. Staring Kairi and Prell (The following takes place the night before the events in "Just Saying Goodnight." Prell sat at his desk in his quarters, staring off into space and thinking, planning, thinking some more. Kairi stepped up to Prell's door, making a couple quick adjustments before finally pressing the chime. Prell jumped up, confused. "Computer - video feed Alpha Alpha Uno". He saw Kairi out in the hallway, dressed as if she were going on a date.....a DATE. "Awwww crap!" He rushed into the bathroom to pretend he was getting ready. "Come in!" Kairi stood in the doorway, looking around. Her red dress sparkled in the low light of Prell's room. "Where are you?" "Ermmm, in the bathroom babe - just drying off...." He hoped she wouldn't think he'd totally forgotten. She entered, heading towards the bathroom. "Drying off? You were supposed to get off work early so you'd be ready to go by now. You didn't forget did you?" He stammered. "Uhhhh, no, I didn’t." She tried to hold back a giggle. She knew he forgot. At least he was trying to make up for it. Besides it was kind of funny. Kairi peeked her head into the bathroom. "Well hurry up. The night is wasting away." He brushed past her in nothing but a towel. "I know, I know, let's see, what to wear....." She walked up behind him, grinning. The thought of grabbing his towel was almost too much, but she resisted. Instead Kairi gave him a quick kiss on the back of his shoulder as she poked around to look into his wardrobe. "I'm sure whatever you pick will be nice." He pinched her playfully. "Where were we going again?" Kairi sat down in a chair closest to him. She knew it. He did forget, because he was the one that was supposed make the plans. Smiling though, she played along. "Well I was thinking maybe dinner in the holodeck, someplace romantic. After that depends on what mood we're in." He put on some pants and turned around. "You’re reading my mind - that's what I was thinking." He found a nice shirt and put it on as well. She smiled at him. "It's what I do best...well almost." He winked. "Yes, yes, I did forget - can you ever forgive me?" He kissed her cheek as he helped her up and towards the door. She ran her finger along his chest. "I don't know. I'll have to think about that one." Giving a playful pout, "You didn't even comment on how I look tonight." He grinned, "You look stunning, as always." Kairi smiled as she wrapped her arms around the back of his neck, giving him a kiss. "That's much better." He winked and nuzzled her nose. "We know who the boss in this couple is..." He grinned as he led her out the door.
  23. Staring Kairi and Dielle “There’s a girl I know He loves her so I’m not that girl” Kairi had just finished reading a message she got from Earth. It was from Sun-Li, an old family friend. She changed into her blue nighty, fixed her hair, and was heading to bed when her nighttime routine was interrupted by a chime at the door. Kairi looked toward the door, sitting at the end of her bed. "Enter." Dielle sauntered in, still carrying her tools in one hand. It seemed odd to see her in full uniform at this time of night. Kairi was a bit surprised to see Dee, but it wasn't unwelcome. She smiled as she stood up. "Well this is a surprise. What brings you here at this time of night?" Dee shrugged. "I was finishing up some maintenance on the replicators, just heading back to quarters. You were on the way." She remained standing in the doorway. "Thought I'd say goodnight." Kairi motioned for Dee to enter. "Please, come in." She then sat back down on the bed. "You'll have to excuse the mess in here. I wasn't expecting company tonight." Dee stepped in, allowing the doors to close. "I wasn't even sure you'd be here." She looked around. "It's not bad. I prefer knowing where everything is. So I'll know if anything goes missing." Kairi giggled. "It usually is clean, but well ... things got out of hand one night." Dee didn't share in her giggling. "Like I said, it's nice to know if anything goes missing." She set down her tools and leaned against the wall. "What's the plan if anyone finds out?" "The idea is to not get found out." Kairi frowned at Dee going straight to the point. She nodded, slowly. "That works too. Hope I'm not messing up your plans. Prell doesn't seem thrilled to have me in on things." Kairi leaned back, trying to relax a little. "Don't worry about him. He's always edgy about things, but he'll warm up to you." "And if he doesn't? Working with someone who doesn't trust me ... it's not ideal." Kairi sighed a moment. Getting up, she walked around Dee, rubbing her back gently. "You need to relax, and trust me. It will all work out." It felt good, after so many hours in the Jeffries Tubes. Dee tried to concentrate, choosing her words carefully. "I trust you. You know that. Your people are like mine. I bet you've lost some as well. Family, people you cared about." Kairi rested her head on the back of Dee's shoulder and sighed. "Family ... yeah. Look, I know you aren't big on Prell, but the fact is we need him right now. He's an important link in our resistance. If he doesn't warm up to you, then I'm sure I can convince him otherwise." Dee stroked her hair gently for a moment before leading her back to the bed. Without thinking, she began to give Kairi a backrub. So many years of training had made it second nature and since leaving Risa, she hadn't had nearly enough practice. "I don't have a choice. He's my boss. He could have me killed in a second." Kairi tried to relax. "He won't, I promise. He's not like the other officers on this ship. Javin is trying to help. He's not out for blood." "Maybe not yours." Dee smiled as she continued. "He seems to have it out for Robair and Kroells, though." She smiled a little. "That's because they have it in for Prell. I don't know, it may be that whole male testosterone thing. I don't quite get it myself." "It's much nicer not to deal with that, isn't it? So much simpler, no egos to deal with. No reckless behavior to compromise anything." Kairi leaned back, resting on Dee. "It sure is." "I'm not trying to cause trouble for you. I just want to make sure you know what you've gotten into. Betrayal is not an experience to cherish." She stroked Kairi's hair, pulling it back and kissing her gently on the neck. She smiled, leaning her head back a little more. "I know. I promise though that nothing like that will happen." No one can promise that. Dee let her relax for a moment as she considered her options. Kairi seemed genuine, and the rarity of it made it a hard trait to resist. Still, it was best not to tell any single person everything. "I should head back." She stood up, resolving to go back to her quarters to analyze the situation objectively. Career advancement was a tricky subject. Kairi stood up, straightening her silk nighty in the process. "Dee, wait ..." The Risan paused on her way to the door. "You have a habit of doing that," she said with a smile. Kairi seemed a bit nervous and innocent suddenly. Biting her bottom lip, she finally asked, "Stay with me tonight?" Dee's smile widened. "I thought you'd never ask." Maybe her plans could wait another night. She stepped back towards the bed, closer to Kairi. Kairi smiled as she took Dee in her arms. "Maybe I can use some of that Vulcan Pressure Point I learned. Javin never let me use it on him..." "I'm not Javin. I'm better." Before Kairi could protest the statement, Dee kissed her. It might take a little convincing, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t enjoy it.
  24. Kairi entered her quarters from a long workout at the gym. She got a bottle of water from the replicator and sat down at her desk. "Hmm I should write Sun-Li," she said to herself as she activated her console. After thinking for a moment, she began writing. Dear Sun-Li, Things are a little interesting here on Agincourt. We're orbiting some rock in the Psi Velorum system. Supposedly some stupid lizards refused to pay tribute to the Empire. Can you imagine the nerve? The marines are probably teaching them all a lesson even as I write this letter. I bet the resistance won't last long. Anyways, Javin and I are still together. He's getting into trouble like usual. He's been picking fights with Robair and Kroells, our Chiefs of Security and Science. He almost got the booth the other day, but Captain DeChevel stepped in and saved his neck. It woud have put a dampener on our evening. I'll have to remember to personally thank the Captain someday. I met someone new the other day. She's an engineer like me. Her name is Dielle Toren, but we call her Dee. Guess what? She's a Risan. We've been spending some time together, and I like her a lot. Though Javin doesn't seem to care for her much. I'll have to make him mind. Dee is very talented, and not just in engineering. We have a lot in common, and I hope to get to know her more. I think you'd like her. If we ever come to Earth soon, I'll introduce you to her. Anyways, I think that's about all I have to say right now. I bet you've got stuff you need to do. I sure miss your cooking though. Replicated food just doesn't appeal to me anymore, and you make the best honey chicken. Oh how's the garden doing? I bet everything is pretty at this time of year. Hopefully I'll see you soon. Love, Kairi She relaxed a minute at her desk as she finished her water. After sending the letter she closed her console and got up from her seat. Walking into the bathroom, Kairi turned on the shower, and began stripping. She tossed her clothes to the side and stepped in. The water was nice and warm as it fell onto her skin. It had been a long day, and it wasn't quite over yet. She had about an hour to relax before she needed to meet Javin for dinner. For once there wasn't going to be any business. It was her one rule for tonight, no work. After a few minutes, Kairi shut the water off and stepped out of the shower. She dried off and wrapped the towl around her. Then she went to her closet to pick out a dress, the worse part of getting ready. She didn't know what to pick. Finally she picked out a little firey red dress, along with shoes and jewelry. Once she was changed she did her last minute preps, hair, makeup, etc. Finally she was ready, with minutes to spare. Kairi left her quarters and headed down the corridor. She got a few turned heads as she walked by, making her smile. Kairi was almost to Prell's room. "He better follow the rules tonight," she muttered to herself. Last thing anyone would want to do was make her mad, specially tonight.

Family: Mother: Rikku Kassem (deceased) Father: Romulan Officer (deceased) Step-Father: Charles Kassem (deceased) Half-Brother: Richard Kassem (deceased) Service Information: Rank: Lieutenant Position: Assistant Engineer Assignment: ISS Agincourt Personal History: Kairi's mother, Rikku, became a prisoner of war during the war between the Terran Empire and Romulan Star Empire. During that time, she became a slave and a favorite pet of the Romulan Warden in charge of the prison. It wasn't long after the conception of Kairi, that a surprising team of mercenaries lead by Captain Charles Kassem, raided the prison freeing the slaves. The warden was killed during the prison break. Having fealt abandoned by the Terran Starfleet, Rikku allied herself with Charles and soon fell in love with him. Not soon after, Kairi was born abord Kassem's ship, the Blood Money. Fearing what people might say or do if people found out that Kairi was Romulan, Rikku devised an elaborate story of how she had fallen in love with a Vulcan prisoner. As Kairi grew up, she discovered her true roots. Discouraged by her mother to dig deeper into her Romulan heritage, caused a rift between Kairi and Rikku. Kairi's child curiosity grew stronger though, and she began to secretly learn of her roots. Kairi began to study engineering to mask her true studies. Eventually she became a wiz in engineering, far surpassing those that worked onboard the Blood Money. When she was old enough, Kairi began expressing interests in joining Starfleet. This made Rikku angry, as she still did not forgive Starfleet for being abandoned. Night after night arguments and fights broke out between mother and daughter to the point that Kairi had enough. Shortly after a cargo drop-off the Blood Money mysteriously was destroyed with all hands lost. Ironically though Kairi was the lone survivor, escaping in the only working escape pod. The destruction of the Blood Money was officially documented as technical failure to the warp core. Alone and much wealthier from liberating the credits from the BM before it's destruction, Kairi sought out on her own. She eventually joined the Starfleet Academy, pursuing a career in engineering. She soon graduated and began her assignment onboard the ISS Agincourt, where she is still currently stationed at the rank of Lieutenant. Though she pledges loyalty to Starfleet and the Agincourt, Kairi longs for the day she can reunite with the Romulan people and resurrect the Star Empire from the ashes. To this day Kairi has still managed to keep her Romulan heritage a secret. Those that have discovered the truth have been bribed by any means or have been found dead in freak mechanical accidents.
