  2. Hmm, I don't know why the guys in at Paramount didn't think of a "gag" shirt like this one themselves. I would of bought it last time I was at the "Expereince" in Vegas for sure. Oh well I have my "Geek" Shirt they made with the Silloutte of the Hood...errr Enterprise on it. Loyal Redshirt Max Precip Security Officer USS Hood
  3. Interestingly I have to wonder if Sci-Fi did a last minute switcharoo to have two hours of Battlestar Galactica. I could of sworn I recall them advertising a lineup of Both Stargate shows followed by Battlestar's Premiere. Did anyone else catch this ? -Precip
  4. Personal Log Lt Cdr Precip Chief of Security USS Manticore The Admiral has ordered a shuttle to investigate an area of "NOTHING" tailing the USS Hawk in the Ships of the Line formation honoring those who fell at Wolf 359. Given our original orders for attending the ceremony, the chance of someone starting an incident within Starfleet or with another Government forces us to take a look. The Admiral's plan is to use our Phase Cloak equipped shuttle to investigate the area aft of the Hawk. By using the Phase Cloaked shuttle we can gather information on the area of "NOTHING" behind the USS Hawk without anyone knowing Manticore launched a shuttle. The Phase Cloak operation, Precip believed would be performed as followed: The PC shuttle would activate it's Phase Cloak inside Manticore's Shuttlebay. Once activated it would depart, "Phasing" through the closed shuttlebay doors. It would then manuever to whatever is behind the USS Hawk, gather sensor data and fly back to the Manticore "Phasing" through the closed shuttlebay doors and land. If the Phase Cloak works nonone would even realize Manticore had launched a shuttle. The last thought of course was the entire problem with the Admiral's idea: IF the Phase Cloak worked. Chief Engineer Garnoopy made it quite clear the device was still in a testing stage. From what I had gathered the first test of the device went well but not perfect. I am inclined to agree with Chief Garnoopy that we cannot use the device on an operational basis yet. I did suggest another mission profile using our "Tugboat" alias sending a service shuttle around the Hawk..to "bump" into the anamoly. The Flaw with that idea of course is that the shuttle and the wayward pilot would be traced to Manticore, who's CO happen's to be an Admiral; quite unusual for a "Space Tug". I imagine the Chief Engineer has the best idea what would happen if the Phase Cloak failed. The Flight risk to the crew of the shuttle involved in this mission is high. However, the Admiral has made it quite clear that he wants to get to the bottom of the "NOTHING" Tailing the USS Hawk. End Log
  5. I enjoyed Battlestar Galactica's first two episodes. I think it is far to early to pass any final judgement on certain characters being focused on more than others. The first two shows some promising writing! One thing that I will be looking for in the future is Galactica avoiding the second coming of USS Voyager. That is....seemingly Galactica looking the same each episode despite getting holes blown into it....(or out in "Water). An endless supply of Vipers (clearly that is impossible for Galactica ...no replicators). And finally Munitions for Galactica's Guns. Granted she took a full load of weapons departing Ragnar Station, and it is a bit ambiguous what type of weapons Galactica uses (are we talking projectile's or plasma rounds of some sort). Yet in "33" she had to fight off 5 days of attacks..every 33 minutes? I just hope Mr. Moore remembers Voyager's flaws, and keeps Galactica going realistically given her plight. -Precip

  8. I agree with your point that the Romulans having only one Starship Class is farfetched. Correcting myself earlier..the Romulans did have a small Scout Vessel used in TNG. We also got to see a Roumlan shuttlecraft on DS9 that could of been the size of a Runabout...it was tough to say exactly how big this shuttle was. Of course fiction writers, gamers, mesh makers could always fill in the blanks of the Romulan fleet. Unfortunately that gets into the endless spriral of "what is and what isnt " canon with starships. Hopefully there was some article written by a producer of TNG or DS9. That could shed light in the absence of "Starship Specialization" in the Romulan Fleet. Was it saving money in Graphics...or was a conscious decision and reason made for a seemingly universal fleet design of the Romulan D`deridex. -Precip
  9. I think the best way to compare the role of the Valdore to the D`derdex class in the Romulan Fleet is looking at the Federation's Sovereign and Galaxy Class Starships seen in on TV and the Big Screen. We do know that Galaxy Class Vessels were active in the Dominion War. They were clearly uprated during that war. To avoid the Fate of the Odyessy (most obvious) tactical systems were enhanced/modified. Perhaps a more but less far from visable change was the amount of crew onboard a Galaxy. Given cost and mere manpower, clearly it would be absurd to continue wartime production of Starships with Civilian ammenities. The numbers of Galaxy class vessels shown on DS9 would lead me to believe many survived the war and still serve Starfleet well. But the original design of the Starship was decades before the Dominion War and Wolf 359. Radical lessons were particularly learned in the later in terms of Starship Design. Sovereigns were, and along with Akira, Steamrunner, Norway and Defiant were designed with more Tactical abilities than Starships before them. Their basic design; such as the Sovereign were designed with smaller cross sections making them harder to hit. Federation Starships also had increases in weapons deployed. (Particularly the Defiant and the Akiras). The Romulans learned just as the Federation did combat experience as well. Perhaps the their awakening point was the Failed attempt to Destroy the Founder's Homeworld before the Romulans officially entered the war. Of course, That battle was a trap. But I think the Romulan's confidence in the might..and perhaps intimidating factor of the D`deridex class vessel was shaken to a point where the seed of a successor was born. Given the lack of specialiized Starship Design in the Romulan Star Empire (as seen in DS9, Voyager) The D`deridex class Warbird would of been THE ship in the Romulan fleet. It would take a long time to replace the sheer numbers of the D`deridex class vessels. Most likely just as the Federation did with their Galaxy Class starships upgrades were made to the D`deridex. But Romulan Command knew uprgades weren't enough...and the Valdore class, just like the Sovereign is becoming the ship of the line in the Romulan Fleet. -Precip
  10. Just my thoughts. Three Starships types we see in Star Trek:Nemesis. One is an upgraded Enterprise E, and two Romulan Types; the one of a kind Schimitar and the Valdore Class Warbird. Yes in Nemesis there were some changes on the Enterprise E. Some tweaking in the hull dorsal/aft of the Saucer, and the installation of additiional weapons. The former to my knowledge was mainly cosmetic. The additional weapons were more of a necessity; for someone who storyboarded the Schimitar/Enterprise Battle must of run into the stark vulnerablity of Aft section of the ship. Two Torpedo launchers were added to give the Enterprise the ability to fire at an from an enemy attack behind and above. One was added above the Shuttlebay on the Saucer, the other above the shuttlebay in the engineering section. An additional torpedo launcher was added in the forward dorsal section of the saucer, but I dont recall this one being used in the movie. The Schimitar reminds me of the World War 2 SuperBattleships built by Japan in WW2...of the Yamato Class. Extraordinarily powerful, but in the end...failures. Although it was not mentioned in the film, I feel it is safe to assume that the Schimitar was a one of a kind vessel and her destruction brought the end to any future copies of this vessel. (I highly doubt the Romulan Government would design another floating Thaloran Radiation Gun that was the Schimitar, which would of been a political liabiltly to say the least) The Valdore Class clearly is a replacement to the D`deridex Warbird. The latter unfortunately never shown how truley big they were. (A D`deridex Class Warbird would of dwarfed a Galaxy Class Starship if shown as scripted) The Valdore's shown looked like an attempt to put the Romulan ships more in line with the size and "sleekness" of a Sovereign Class Vessel. Despite their smaller size they still inherited some attributes from their forebearers, mainly the appearance of wings supporting the warp nacelles..and the odd double strut "beak" bridge. (Yes I just said Romulan Warbirds have beaks...). The Valdore's showed more agility and more firepower in the brief time we saw them on Nemesis than what I believe a D`deridex class ship would of have. Cleary they where the next step in Romulan ship design unlike the Killer Whale that was the Schimitar. -Precip Still a Starship Freak
  11. Blu, Imagine if the orginal ideas for the Enterprise-D's bridge were implemented. A two Deck bridge? Galaxy's are the true Cadillacs of Starfleet no doubt. For my favorite, I unfortuantely don't have an idea what a bridge of an Akira Class starship looks like...we never saw one. I can only presume the Tactical station on that vessel must be rather large. All those torpedo launchers and a immense Fighter bay for the craft Tovan pictured earlier in this thread. Unlike your Galaxy Class vessel, A second bridge on the Akira is not included. Saucer section option not included as well. -Precip
  12. Images- I am going to echo what Grom mentioned earlier, do not mess with a university server. Simming is just a game and having your computring priviledges revoked at school (or worse) would be more of a headache then missing a siming. My motto is IRL first. I hope some of the suggestions above that do not involve getting around a school's firewall help. -Precip
  13. Yeah it has a fold out diagrams at the back of the book Showing sections of Deep Space Nine, and a deck by deck mapping of the Defiant. It's called STAR TREK:Deep Space Nine Technical Manual, Published in 1998 by Pocket Books. Herman Zimmerman, Rick Sternbach and Doug Drexler get the credits for putting the book together. It also has an into by Ira Steven Behr. This book was more difficult to read in my opinion than the original TNG Technical Manual years before it. However, illustrations are are Computer Rendered, making for much easier viewing than it's predecessor. If your book is missing the Fold Out Van Roy..you can turn to page 123 for the Defiant Cutaway. Quite certain you'll be able to make out the landing gear. -Precip
  14. Can a Defiant Class Land? Despite never seeing this on TV, if one looks at the Master Ship Systems Display Okudagram from the Bridge, landing gear is stowed in the lower decks. The Deep Space Nine Technical Manual (Paramount) has a nice cutaway fold-out which clearly shows the landing gear stowed. As for my favorite Ship Class, it still is the Akira. -Precip
  15. Joint Log by LtCdr's Mele, Precip, and Rogét Kyle walked behind the desk and motioned to the chairs for the others to sit. Margaux walked over and sat down, “Do you think he'll leave us alone?” nodding toward the door. “I certainly hope the doctor would respect my right to privacy for a counseling session,” Mitar said as he took his seat next to Margaux. “Isn't that in the Hippocratic oath, Doctor Mele?” Kyle settled into his own chair, nodding to Precip, “I think we'll be fine, at least for now, Margaux.” Mitar’s voice took a more serious tone, “Doctor, I believe it’s best that you lead the discussion on this matter.” “Of course. We're here to discuss the options available to us concerning Admiral Atragon’s recent,” he paused searching the right word, “hmm … outburst.” Precip looked over at Margaux and then back to Kyle. “I never told him, that Admiral, of the implant. Regardless of our past … history, that was one item that I could not tell him about.” She glanced at Mitar and the locked her eyes with Kyle, “I couldn't tell anyone about it. You stumbled upon it after I was injured.” Kyle nodded, “I was the only one on board who knew about the implant, and as you said, I only knew because of your injury. As far as I'm concerned that information then became protected under the doctor-patient privilege. A look of confusion crossed Mitar’s face, “So then how did the Admiral come to possess this protected information? Margaux closed her green eyes and let out a small sigh, “Mitar I have a very long, and jaded history in black ops.” She saw Kyle settle back into his chair and gave him a slight smile, “However, I won't bog you down with mundane details.” Mitar held up his hand, “There is no need to divulge anything more that what is needed, Margaux. The Admiral then has access to your entire career files?” “Career files? No, Mitar. I don't know if there is such a thing in black ops, but if there is only one man has that kind of access to my history, and I trust him with my life. I first met the Admiral over ten years ago.” She glanced and Kyle and saw him close his eyes. They had talked before about her past with Atragon, yet it still touched a nerve. “We were …involved.” Mitar looked at Kyle and then to Margaux, the uncomfortable nature of the conversation visible on his blue face. “I'm sure you remember the name, Melville?” she asked looking at Mitar. He nodded in the affirmative. Every one knew the name.” “I was working undercover, at a place called Lincoln Outpost, on Proxima Centauri for Melville, undercover. My job was compartmentalize the scientific work on biogenic chemicals to be used as warfare agent. That is how I met the Admiral. He was, at the time, the XO of the USS Aries and in charge of delivering the chemical supplies to the outpost. Like any relationship, brief meetings turned into longer meetings. Longer meetings turned into lunch or dinner … or breakfast.” She stopped and took a sip from the glass of water Kyle had put out of her. The scientists never knew what they were working on, but Melville and I did. The Admiral may be a lot of things, but he is not stupid. He managed to put enough of the pieces together and confronted me. I loved him. I told him the truth and the situation brought us closer together, but even then I couldn't tell him of my past or my ... modifications.” Kyle and Mitar exchanged glances. “Melville, somehow knew of these … modifications and kept detailed records of his personnel. Perhaps it was his way to ensure we stayed loyal, or at least wouldn't expose what he was doing.” Margaux frowned, the painful memories etching her features. “Somehow Melville found out about my involvement with the Admiral and our plans to expose Melville’s biological warfare production. We were going to escape. Run away together. We were going to give up our lives in Star Fleet and Black ops and find some distant paradise … “ Margaux’s voice trailed off. She looked down at her hands clenched together and swallowed hard. But he did find out. He told me that the outpost had been compromised, our mission exposed. I was to stay and ensure that the scientists got off the planet. Then I was to destroy any evidence of our work, “ the word came out dripping with sarcasm. What I didn't know is that Melville was setting up his ultimate revenge against me and the Admiral. He left me there to die. You can look up the destruction of the outpost in Star Fleet records. The official story is that Romulans attacked the outpost, but really it was the USS Aries, Atragon’s ship, that destroyed the outpost. I was to die and it was to be by Atragon’s hand.” Mitar stared at Margaux, taking in all the information. Margaux smiled at him, “It seems however, that I survived.” She looked over at Kyle and smiled. ”I assumed a new identity and thanks to my cranial implant all my memories were suppressed. I couldn't contact the Admiral because I had no memory of him. That’s one of the amazing things of the implant. Because of the memory suppression, there was no way I could put myself or Atragon in any further danger. I had no memories of my past or of my time with the Admiral when I was posted to the Manticore. My only memories were those of being Margaux Rogét. ”And how did the Admiral come to possess this knowledge?’ Mitar asked trying to put al the pieces together. “When Melville ... died, the Admiral obtained access to his records. That's how he found out about me, or who I was.” “And your implant as well? “I would have to assume so, Mitar. I never told Atragon. It had to be in Melville's records. As I said, I never even told Kyle.” Mitar turned to Kyle, “If I may ask Doctor, when did you become aware of the Counselor's memory suppressing device? Kyle closed his eyes, taking himself back to the accident were Margaux was nearly electrocuted, <insert comments/thoughts here>. “It’s more than memory suppression, Mitar,” Margaux interrupted. “What?” Mitar said in a surprised voice. “It also enhances fight or flight capabilities. You know, enhanced hearing, sight, speed. Increased pain tolerance. All for self preservation should an operative become captured.” “Hence you were quite a choice for Security Chief,” Mitar remarked. Kyle nodded and Margaux gave him a sly smile, “Yes, but you have to remember, at the time I didn't know I possessed such, um, talents. I didn't know anything except that I was Margaux Chéri Rogét, beloved youngest child of Pierre and Marie Rogét of New Orleans. However, now, everything has changed. The Admiral has exposed me, or at least opened a very nasty can of worms. Cranial implants are not, if I recall, Star Fleet standard issue and we have some very curious individuals on this crew that won't hesitate to start digging for more information.” “Of course all of this is classified, in addition to being in your medical records. Is that correct?” Mitar asked. Margaux shook her head and looked to Kyle. “It was never officially listed anywhere,” he said. “After I discovered it, I saw no reason to try and explain why there was no previous mention of it. “We have to remember,” Margaux said quietly, “when I was assigned to Manticore, the Admiral had no idea as to who I was. My memories were suppressed then and even after they were, unlocked, so to speak I had no intention of telling him of my identity.” She looked at Kyle, her green eyes saddened, “I really am taken aback by his vehemence and hatred toward me.” The three sat there quietly for a moment, letting their conversation sink in. Mitar squared himself in the chair, sitting up straighter, “This sounds more of an Intelligence matter now than medical. Yet, that implant is part of you physically and mentally I suppose. How can it not be deemed personal?” “It is a gray area as far as policy is involved,” Kyle replied leaning back in his chair, “which is why we're having this meeting. There is no set-in-stone procedure to follow during times like this because, frankly, there aren't supposed o be times like this.” Mitar pursed his blue lips, “His superior has to be informed of this. If we take no action...matters could get worse. I doubt the Consul General would want anything like this being made public in the Black Ops community. It would be handled by herself only I would believe, but who..would inform the Consul General?” ”The bigger question, Mitar ... do we trust the Consul General? Black Ops is a world unto itself.” ”Something has to be done Margaux. We can't just allow this kind of thing to happen onboard. The ship will turn into an environment ruled by fear of something about someone being discovered and mentioned.” Margaux slumped back into her chair, looking at Kyle, “It's always been pretty easy to know what to do, but now ... I don't know what to do.” Kyle nodded, “I'm not sure which of us is the right one to take the information to the Consul General. “I don't think it’s something for just one of us to bring to her attention. Perhaps there is way for each of us to speak with her,” Margaux said quietly. “I have to agree with you there, Margaux, each of us has an area that pertains to the situation.” Mitar nodded, “Strength in numbers.” He looked at the chronometer. “I believe, Doctor, that it’s best to write me up on a physical. My time window to be off the Bridge is almost up.” Kyle picked up a PADD marking off the Chief of Securities physical, “Say ‘ahhh’ Chief.
  16. Yeah Seiben, looks like a firewall issue meant to protect the school's computer network. Which is not good for Mr Images ^_^ High School probably had one that you could sneak around. I imagine Faculty and perhaps Grad Students are the only ones with a UserID that gets around it. -Precip
  17. Heh, A question for your question! Are you trying to access the chatroom from an entirely different server than before? You mention this as a "university server" as opposed to something in High School. Am I following you correctly? Are you able to access other websites/message boards from your "university server"? -Precip

Glad I knew an extended version was coming out, it explained a few things for those who haven't tackled the books yet (like...what happened to Gandalf's staff?). Now I must tackle some of the appendices! -Precip (Casual LOTR fan)
  20. Well Admiral, a friendly reminder that you do have those wristband ray guns. And FredM seems to be sounding a bit like a Giant Green Mantis there. -Precip PS..Curious if Van Roy's idea of Federation logos on a Vor`cha class cruiser is possible on your program Tovan?

  22. Tovan- Cool Image of Challenger! Those lucky ducks got a great shot of a ship with their name on it now. What's next? ::looks at black screen:: Ohhhh ...that wasnt a smudge on my monitor...It's Voyager! Glad to see your work again! -Precip

  25. Log Lagh Koralev Stardate 110429 The Klingons have a word called brak`lul. This word is often used by Klingons for their resiliency in battle. What Koralev from Klingon history in Starfleet, and far more up close onboard the Qob...was that the brak`lul was based on the unbelievable redunancy of Klingon Physiology. Additional organs, encased by a bone structure which the Klingon race had evolved through combat. Humans on the other hand did not have the resouceful phsyiology of the Klingon race. And it was painfully obvious for Boris Koralev. Having just competed the Rite of Ascension, and Konath's challenges. Koralev's body was in need of healing. The Klingon Qel, apparently had done some research on human physiology. Of course Konath would have a Qel on board of first class stature. This Qel had repaired severed tendons in Koralev's wrist from a Holotarg, A fractured rib and a large swath of tissue ripped away from a Klingon Beast Boris had never seen before Konath had conjured up. An injured leg from a fall into a pit. Numerous injuries from Painsticks....Koralev could go on and on. Koralev was indeed thankful for Qel Garnoopy and Rhoz who no doubt provided medical records to Konath's personal phsyscian. Garnoopy had mentioned to Koralev he had incredible resiliency to physical trauma. And indeed that attribute was the only thing that got Him through that row of painsticks. Now Koralev was a Klingon Warrior. But he did not posses the brak`lul, nor were his skill with a Klingon weapons fully developed. He would have to improve in his combat skills in order to survive. He knew No-one would dare make a move to Kill him while Konath was still alive. But Boris knew Klingons and those with power often had ememies. Koralev was a target of opportunity for them, and they may just try to take advantage of the fact some Klingons did not agree with Konath allowing a Human to proceed with the Rite of Ascension. Koralev lay on bed at the house of Konath. Soon he would be reuiniting with his crewmates of the Qob on a new mission of what he knew not. He looked forward to working with Chief Van Roy again in engineering. Something in him missed working on plasma conduits. Koralev wondered if Qel Garnoopy missed operating on Him. Given the aftermath of the Rite he knew the Qel and the MRF staff would be needed yet again to keep the big Russian going. End log
