  1. Andrew, where's the 1-5 years option? I think that's the time frame I'd like to see some new Trek appear in, although I'm willing to wait much longer.
  2. I love that some of these remind me of the academies I've been in. That's how you know that the GMs are doing a good job. ;) 2 The Enterprise goes to visit a remote outpost of scientists, who are all perfectly all right. 7 The Enterprise succesfully ferries an alien VIP from one place to another without a serious incident. 42 An unknown ensign beams down as part of an away team and lives to tell the tale. (We'd have to replace "unknown ensign" with cadet).
  3. I don't know about favorite, but I've been a fan of Homestar Runner for awhile now. It's just a fun site with crazy characters and cartoons and such. Strong Bad's emails are pretty funny. I'm going to go watch some now. ;)
  4. Welcome to STSF! Hope to see you around! ;)
  5. Here's a possibility: Thomas Riker - Survived the destruction on Cardassia by being in an off-world labor camp. After the war he was released by the new Cardassian government and pursued Deanna Troi, only to find out she had married Will. Unable to return to Starfleet because of his repeated actions against it and the fact that he could still pose as Will Riker, he got a job as a freighter captain. Anyone have a different version?
  6. Hey Aceavia! You did well in the Academy last night, even if we did all die. ;) I'm glad to see that you decided to join afterall. I knew we would convert you. See you around the sims and once again welcome to STSF!
  7. No crying. ;) Okay, what can you tell me about bio-neural gel packs? I mostly watched TNG so I'm more familiar with isolinear chips. Did they replace iso-chips entirely? How does one go about fixing a malfunctioning gel pack? And what do they do/look like when they are malfunctioning?
  8. But the main characters don't need silly things like seatbelts and surge protectors. They've got the advanced technology of plot shields to protect them! ;)
  9. That's a good one Rana; I had forgotten about her. You should make up a short blurb about what could have happened after that.
  10. Hey Tynte, welcome to STSF. You were great in your first academy. Hope to see you around more. And remember, that's Ensign Miral to you! J/K!
  11. Are you referring to the different Trek eras, Murdok? This is to the best of my knowledge: Challenger - NX-01 period (like Enterprise) Hood - TOS era Agincourt - 20 years after Voyager Excalibur, Manticore, Republic, Qob/Lakota, Arcadia, Reaent, Talon, and Sky Harbor Aegis are all post DS9/Voyager era, I believe. I could be wrong about this, so you will want to check up on individual ships specifically.
  12. It can be a person, event, episode ... anything. I've seen a couple of episodes where something has happened that makes me wish I had just missed that episode. It can be from a movie, as well. I think the event I really would like to take back would be Jadzia's death. I liked Ezri, but not nearly as much as I liked Jadzia. Anyone else?
  13. Hey Murdok! Welcome to STSF. I'll be at Red Star and probably the Academy tonight. Hope to see you there! ^_^
  14. The only class I can think of offhand is the Constellation class.
  15. Miranda- I'll have you know that I never had anything even resembling a Star Trek dream until I read this thread. Then I had a dream last night about selling concert tickets on the phone to an STSF member in Norway. This person isn't even in Norway! Now look what you've started ... ;)
  16. I'm pretty sure this is where we'd die, eliminating any possibility of reaching step 3.
  17. ;) I couldn't resist. It's one of my favorite lines. Extra points for the Worf-stuffing-his-face quote!
  18. Stop slacking, N'Dak. ;) Here's another one! Note: You have to get the answer right without looking it up since it's so easy. Honor system! Question: What kind of cake was Troi?
  19. Kalla-Norah Syndrome? I'm not sure if I even spelled that correctly. ;)
  20. Lloann'na ;)
  21. Kestra felt like she had been climbing ladders forever. Finally she reached the last one. The doors to the port nacelle control room slid open and she walked inside, nodding to the officers on duty. “Alright guys, this is what I want,” she began, turning to the two ensigns behind her. “Jin, I want you to coordinate with the officer in charge here. Run level one diagnostics on the alignment assembly. I’m also going to be sending you readings on the coils individually, and I need you to verify them.” Jin nodded and moved to the main control panel. “I’ll set up a data link with your tricorder from this console.” She set her kit down next to the panel and began conferring with the officer on duty. “Set up a link with Keneally as well. We’re going in together,” Kestra added. She turned to him. “Ready?” “Ready,” he grinned at her. He crossed the short distance to the ladder and began climbing up. Kestra followed suit, both of them pausing in front of the activated forcefield once they reached the top. “Verifying warp systems are offline. Plasma injectors have been shut down.” She tapped a series of commands into the panel to the right of the forcefield. “Safeties online,” Jin verified from below. “I’m shutting off the forcefield now.” The field crackled and then disappeared. Taking a deep breath, Kestra climbed down into the nacelle. She had only done this in simulations, and couldn’t believe she was actually entering the port nacelle. She walked past the massive plasma injectors tentatively and then headed towards the nearest set of coils, calling over her shoulder to Keneally. “Okay, the chief wants us to go over every coil manually. There’s a team doing the same in the starboard nacelle. We’ve got ten hours to go over all of the sets.” She opened her kit and began removing tools. “Let’s just hope the Chief doesn’t decide to reinitialize warp drive ahead of schedule,” he said, following her. “Impossible. We’ve logged in, my clearance verified that the safeties are in place, Cdr. Trichon is the one who ordered this assignment in the first place, we’ve got Jin out in the control room with the rest of the nacelle team—“ Kestra turned around in time to see the smile fading off of Keneally’s face. “Oh. You were joking.” Her face flushed with embarrassment and she activated the coil spanner next to her. Avoiding eye contact she directed it towards the surface of the nearest coil. “Hey, don’t worry about it.” He moved next to her and scanned the coil with his tricorder. They worked together in silence for awhile before he spoke again. “Well, I’m not finding any cracks in the verterium cortenide. There’s no signs of overheating in this one.” Kestra nodded and moved past him, crossing the nacelle. Keneally followed and then paused in the center, looking down the length of the nacelle. “This is something that should be done in a starbase, with a much larger team. How are we going to get this done in time?” Kestra sighed and looked directly at him. “We have to. The ship barely made it through those last ten minutes of warp. There’s no way we can bring the engines back online until we figure out what’s going on here. And besides,” she added, brightening, “You’ve got to admit this is amazing. How many engineers actually log time inside of a Sovereign nacelle?” They both took a moment to appreciate the strange cavernous space they were in. The coils were enormous, wrapping around the circumference of the nacelle. Kestra knew the field grille was beyond this, with the outer casing wrapping around all of it. It was hard to believe that something as small as a tricorder could even take readings on something so massive, even with special calibrations. “You’re right. It’s incredible.” Keneally interrupted her thoughts and joined her. He continued speaking as he began his next set of scans. “But it’s still going to be a long night.” Kestra nodded slowly as she continued her work, agreeing with him silently.
  22. Check your PMs, Erik.
  23. Perfect N'Dak! ::gives N'Dak an evil looking gold star:: If anyone is interested, twelve of these dolphins are overseen by two Orcinus orca takayai, or Takaya's Whale. Your turn to ask ...
  24. Thanks! Question: On a Galaxy class starship, there is a "consultation crew" for guidance and navigational research. These crews consist of three different species. Name at least one of them (common or scientific name). Hint: We've never seen them onscreen, so it's a little more obscure.
