  1. Kestra took her sandwich and orange over to the table of ensigns she recognized from engineering. They all seemed to be discussing something animatedly, and as she sat down she realized that it was the Chief's upcoming wedding. They were getting a group together to donate credits for a gift the OPS officer had purchased. Kestra thought for a minute, feeling slightly awkward. She didn't know Trichon as well as some of the others, but both Trichon and Merri had been very nice to her since she joined the Arc. She decided to chip in 300 credits, because that was all she could spare at the moment. Combined with the other ensigns at the table they had 1500 put together, and Jin said she would send the contribution to Vectra with a note.
  2. I took the following off the Startrek.com website. "Brock Peters Reports are coming in today that Brock Peters ("Joseph Sisko" & "Admiral Cartwright") has passed away from pancreatic cancer. He was 78. Peters gained fame as Tom Robinson, the man accused of rape in the classic 1962 film "To Kill a Mockingbird." His other early films include "The L-Shaped Room," "Carmen Jones" and "Porgy and Bess." Star Trek fans will remember Peters for two roles; as Admiral Cartwright in "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" and "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country" and as Joseph Sisko, Benjamin Sisko's New Orleans-based father who ran his own creole restaurant. The New York-born Peters, who gave the eulogy at his "Mockingbird" co-star Gregory Peck's funeral in 2003, had a deep, resonant voice that was well suited for voiceover and animation work. Peters' original name was George Fisher, but he dropped it in 1953 once he began his acting career. "
  3. Awwww. Well congrats to each of the happy couples. Sorry I couldn't stick around for the ceremony. And since T'Linna and Eagle already got their wedding presents from me ... ::pulls two more chocolate bars out of her bag and hands them to Ace and Ty:: Nothing fancy, but what can you expect from someone who bartends to make ends meet?
  4. Hi Yaxela Welcome to STSF! ::hands over a lime:: I too have noticed that there are more females here than on most boards, but it's just another thing I like about STSF. If you're interested in avatars, here's a thread that talks about it. See you in the sims!
  5. Happy Birthday Nick! ::makes him a birthday hat of duct tape:: :D
  6. I think Ron Lunn is. He's on the ... Agincourt? Go do a search. :D Edit: And isn't Ohno half Cardassian/half Bajoran?
  7. Yeah Sovak, that just made me stop and go "awwww!" I can't top that. :)
  8. The nearest gas station to me is $3.09 for regular, $3.29 for premium. I'm sure it's higher somewhere else in the city. I use up a good deal of my gas just driving around my parking garage. :P Good thing I filled up when I left the suburbs ...
  9. A lychee is a disgusting fruit. :P And I'm with Harry Potter on the cake saying; that one has always irritated me as well.
  10. I believe it's been brought up before. Actually, I can think of a few people in STSF that aren't from the States, but rather from Europe, or even one in Australia. It can be done.
  11. Happy Birthday to the best helmsman around, and Happy Birthday to my favorite bartending buddy. Enjoy your day, guys!
  12. Well CAT is actually short for "Computed Axial Tomography". You'll also sometimes hear it referred to as a "CT scan" where CT is simply referring to "Computer Tomography". Sorry it's not more interesting!
  13. I can't make it! ::cries:: But seriously, Happy 10th to Aegis and all of her fine crew!
  14. I'd spend some money on a cute little country house but it would have to have a library, so I would also spend a lot of money on books. Then if I wasn't broke I would spend some on my family and take the rest to India. I'd love to use it to start up some sort of program, maybe go to some of the more rural areas and use it towards literacy. Oh and I'd make sure I had a chauffeur. That's an absolute must. Or maybe I'd just use the money to turn myself into a trophy wife and then marry one of you. ;)
  15. "Trip to the moon: $100 million Company that sold International Space Station trips for $20M eyes lunar flybys as early as 2008. NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - The firm that already arranged for two millionaire space tourists to visit the International Space Station is getting ready to sell trips to the moon for $100 million each." Full article here.
  16. ROFL! It was written so politely. I wonder who it could possibly be? I also wonder how many actual users we have.
  17. Happy Birthday and best wishes for the coming year, Daryus. ::hands him a cellular peptide cake with mint frosting::
  18. Keep in mind Taalix is really busy right now and not taking any requests. I haven't received any PMs from you, Cougar. Please check your inbox to see if you got mine. Thanks!
  19. Yay! Chicago rocks. And I'm glad so many other people want to live in Alaska; why do all my friends think I'm crazy?
  20. Food: Cheeseburgers Drink: Water, seriously! I don't really drink alcohol. Color: Black TV show: I'm not particular about anything besides Trek Movie: English-Pride & Prejudice, and Die Hard; Hindi- Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Place to live(if you could live anywhere): Alaska! Mode of Transportation: Edit:BMW X3 If I had 1 wish I would wish for: The ability to ensure the happiness of those I love
  21. Hey CJ, welcome to STSF! Don't worry about giving us bio information right now; that's something you'll want to develop once you graduate and are assigned an advanced sim. See you around the academies! :) Edit: Seiben, if you're going to keep posting that, at least spell "tips" correctly. :P
  22. Alright guys, I'm taking requests again. If you want an avatar please PM me with specifics on your character (possibly a picture) and with an email address. Read this thread so you know what information to give me. If you want to get started on making your own, PM me and I'll help you find the right resources. Also please be patient as it may take me awhile and depending on the request I might not be able to fufill it. Thanks!
  23. I asked someone once what made them change their mind about simming (they originally hadn't planned on joining STSF). And the answer was simply "the people". Cheers to STSF and the people that make it so great. :P ::puts the drink orders on Munro's tab::
  24. It's funny, because I never really got into TOS or any of those movies and that's probably why I'm so attached to the TNG/DS9/VOY era. I think it's also one of the reasons I didn't get into Enterprise (among other things, of course). I'd be much more likely to watch something in Voyager's future rather than in TNG's past myself. Then again, if it was Trek I'd give it a chance no matter what it was.
  25. That's something I've had trouble with myself, Ramdar. The problem is there isn't a list of things you're specifically allowed to do. When you want to do something, ask yourself who else you would be affecting. Does it affect another department? Will it hinder or affect the main plot in any way? If you think it might affect the plot, then it's probably not a good idea. If you're really unsure, I'd say your best bet is to message the GMs and ask, is it alright if I do this?
