  1. Well, when I am bored.. I go to Neopets.Com and play around. I have two little pets I take care of when I remember to. (They are ALWAYS starving when I go back.. heh.) And they have fun games. Or, you can do what I do..and write random haiku's for hours on end. you know I am bored when I hang around this place and post this nonsense ::curtsies:: ^_^
  2. "Drowning in Deep Thoughts" - Midshipman Mithraia Coeur, MD Stardate 053105 It seemed to take forever to Mia to sort through the medical supplies now inhabiting the cargo bay of the USS Agincourt. But she kept focused on her work, despite the never wavering eyes of the security staff watching her every move. She could sense the harshness behind some of their looks and could only imagine it was Tethra's unusual people skills that had ignited the feelings. Though, it seemed silly to her to be questioning the Minervan's social attributes .. when she, herself, could barely handle being in social situations as it was. As she quietly finished up, she nodded to the security guy as she headed towards the door, "I'm finished here .. I .. I'm going to be heading back to Sickbay." The security guy just nodded slightly and didn't make a sound. Mia uncomfortably nodded back and walked past him, leaving the cargo bay and it's suffocating clutter of supplies. She took a moment to gain her bearings and remembered where the lift was, walking over to it briskly. A few crew members passed her, all but ignoring her really. She always tended to blend into the background .. despite her vibrant red hair. Even that wasn't enough to get noticed. As she entered the lift and exhaled a breath of relief as it closed before someone else could enter it and take the ride with her .. she leaned against it's wall and loosened up for a second. She hated the solitude, yet she felt more at ease by herself. There was no pressure to impress anyone, no pressure to talk about things she didn't want to, no need to hide anything. By herself .. she could just BE herself. "Excuse me, Midshipman." Mia blinked her eyes, realizing she had plummeted deep into thought. The lift had stopped, and at the door was a Lieutenant, standing patiently with his arms crossed. Mia stood up quickly and saluted, "I.. sir, .. excuse me. I'm.. I'm sorry. I was .. I was just.." she stuttered terribly. She felt on the spot and was almost crumbling before his eyes. He shook his head and stepped aside to let her off the lift. She walked past and turned around to face him. "It's not problem, Midshipman.. but perhaps your quarters are a better place for you to daydream than the turbolift?" He smirked slightly, and stepped into the lift, "Deck 7." "Of course .. I mean, sorry.. yes, you .. you are right..." she watched him smirk again as the doors closed. Mia lifted her hand to her forehead, which was now damp with sweat and sighed, "You have to stop this mind wandering thing, Mia. It's going to be the death of your career." She turned and kept walking down the corridor to Sickbay and entered it. She heard a soft beep from a console and she walked over. It was a communique for Medical about a disease plaguing a colony. Mia sat down and looked over the small bits of data they had. This was something she could focus on. It was important. She would help people and keep her head out of the clouds. She started research and was hoping she'd have a better understanding of everything by the time they reached the colony. And there would be no more deep thoughts. Deep thoughts were okay .. as long as you didn't drown in them. It was something she had to work on.
  3. You don't have to attend every single Academy, just show up when you can! Believe me, it gets noticed. And in no time.. you'll be graduated. Though, advanced simulations weigh attendance heavily. Be sure to choose one that you can make every week. However, you are allowed to miss one once in awhile as long as you give proper notice. (Or at least explain if it was an emergency after the fact!) Good luck! Hope to see you in the stars! ^_^
  4. Welcome! ^_^ Awesome name. As you can tell... I appreciate unique names! See you around!
  5. "Past, Present and Future" - Midshipman Mithraia Coeur, MD Stardate 052505 The doors had long since closed behind her, yet she found herself staring at them from the small sofa in the living area of her humble quarters. Had it been an hour? Maybe two? It had already felt like an eternity since her date with Ron Lunn, the dashing engineer that had somehow convinced her to join him for dinner during his treatment in Sickbay. Mithraia "Mia" Coeur was never one to accept such invitations. She had a hard time trusting people at first, and rarely let anyone get close to her enough to even skim the surface of who she was. The only people she had found she could trust was her adoptive parents. They had taken her in at the lowest point of her life. She was broken, bruised, tattered .. and they showed her love and compassion. Kindness. Mia often felt that without their intervention .. she might have been dead by then. Or worse. But something, a stirring in her stomach .. a still, small voice in the back of her head hold told her, "Mia .. take a chance. Spread your wings for once and fly on your own." And she had actually listened to it; much to the dismay of her own fears and insecurities. The date had gone well though. A friendly dinner by a holographic seaside; where the ocean wind gently whipped through her hair and caressed her skin. Ron, who had sat on the other side of the table and had been very respectful, entertaining her with conversation about everything. Yet, he had known to not press Mia on certain subjects .. it seems. Her life, her past .. her childhood. She had managed to be vague. To be avoiding. There were things she did not want to discuss. Especially with someone so new. Even her parents only had a sliver of knowledge of her life before she joined them at 15 years of age. --------------------- "Who could do something like this? To a child. A CHILD." Katrina Coeur's voice was shaking, and not quite as warm and gentle as it usually was. The girl's vibrant red hair was dirty and matted with filth and blood. She was trembling and weak, her thin frame was far too thin It was clear the girl hadn't eaten proper for days. The girl sat quietly though, unable to speak .. or just afraid to; wide icy blue eyes taking in the clean, sterile enviroment of this starship Sickbay, "I just want to hold her .. or something. But I'm afraid she seems to skittsh to try that." The nurse frowned and nodded to the Chief Medical Officer of the USS Constantine. She knew that Katrina Coeur hardly ever reacted to a patient like that .. but in the case of the child, it was something to be expected. Katrina had been unable to conceive her own children and it had always broken her heart. And to see this young girl in such condition, it had to be making her blood boil, "Doctor, I do believe that Captain is detaining the crew of the freighter ship. From the reports I am getting from the bridge, this girl has been used for everything under the sun." The nurse frowned again; dispicable images going through her mind of what this gir's childhood must've been like to get her to this point. Katrina shook her head and handed her nurse the PADDs she had been holding, "Wait here and give me any word on what the Captain says about me taking the girl in until we can figure out what to do with her." The nurse nodded again and stepped away, while Katrina walked over to the girl, who was still trembling slightly but sitting quietly on the biobed. Katrina felt the girl's icy blues on her as she approached. They were wide and fearful. It was clear she was scared and as she got closer, she could really make out the bruises, cuts and old wounds on her face. Stopping a few feet in front of her, Katrina held up her hands to show she had no weapons and meant no harm, ".. hello there. My name is Katrina.. you can call my Kat if you want. I'm a doctor and I just want to look you over and make sure you are okay." Her voice was soothing, liek a flowing brook on a summer day. The 15 year old girl's lips, cracked and dry, parted slightly and a strained voice crept out. "..please, do-don't make me g-go back to... to them." As she said this, a solitary tear made it's way down her bruised cheek. It left a glistening trail behind it and Katrina nodded. "I promse we are not giving you back to the freighter crew. They .. they are bad men, and will be punished for everything they have done." She moved closer and pulled out her tricorder, ".. this is a scanner I want to use to check you for injuries I cannot see. May I do that?" The girl nodded slowly, and Katrina begin to scan her. She was amazed by what she found. Old broken bones not healed properly, dehydration and malnutrition, multiple scars and bruises. It seemed as though she had been through hell and back. It took all of her strength not to let her own tears flow. When she finished, she began to put the tricorder away and the girl's small hand reached out for it. Katrina gave it to her and let her look at it. For a moment, the girl stopped trembling and became entranced by it. It made the doctor smile. "You have a lot of injuries. Do you think I can fix you up and then we can get you all clean and perhaps get you some food." There was a momentary silence and then, "I l-like star..fruit." Katrina let out a soft laugh, "I can get you some of that if you want. I can get you anything you want. It's going to be okay.." she paused, realizing she didn't know her name, ".. what is your name, sweetheart?" Her small fingers closed the medical tricorder and placed it on the bed beside her. The tears began to flow more rapidly now, and as the small girl began to crumple into the doctor's arms, she whispered, "Mithraia.. I'm Mithraia." Katrina held her tightly and let the girl cry. As her own tears fell upon the girl's hair like raindrops, she realized she wouldn't ever let her go. But there was a huge road ahead. Things would be okay, and once she found out everything this girl had gone through.. it would be fixed. But she would only skim the surface. -------------------- Mia's fingers traced the circular burn scars on each of her wrists. She had been careful to wear a long-sleeved shirt so that Ron wouldn't notice. She never liked showing them off. It made people ask questions. Questions she never wanted to answer. She closed her eyes tightly and let the sleeves fall back down over them. Out of sight, out of mind .. she liked to think. Most of her childhood was like that to her. At this point .. Mia sometimes felt like she had no identity at all. She shook her head and pushed these feelings and thoughts from her mind. The day had been a success. She spent time in the company of a man. A nice man who seemed to genuinely care about what she thought. Who didn't look upon her as an object, or something that could be used or taken advantage of. He gave her a friendly hug at the end, and while Mia expected him to try and kiss her .. he didn't. He just winked, said they would get together soon and let her walk into her quarters. It made her smile. It made her nervous. And it made her anxious. Even a bit scared. .. the past continued to haunt her, but she couldn't help but look forward to what the future had in store.
  6. Happy Birthday!
  7. Welcome! I'm sure you'll fit in great here. ;) As long as you have actual certification of your insanity. ;P
  8. That part kind of got me too. But I also thought up a sort of explanation for that. It's pretty established that Tatooine (forgive my spelling if I am getting it wrong) is a very remote planet .. very far from any Republic dealings. We see that in both Episode 1 and Episode 4. It's under the control of the Hutts and not the Republic/Empire. Either it's too insignificant to the Republic/Empire to deal with .. or just happens to be under the radar. And technically, Anakin/Vadar has NO family on Tatooine anymore. It's only by marriage and he never knew his step-father and step-brother; except for that one visit. All he has was his mother ... and she is gone. He has no ties with that planet anymore. He was a pain-filled man .. maybe he did what some people need to do with painful memories .. block it out. Pushed it from his mind as best he could. And he becomes too consumed with the Dark Side and his allegiance to Palpatine.. it's just not a focus anymore. Besides, he knows Padme is dead. Anyone think he may have just assumed that they 'baby' died with her. (He was unaware of the twins. He just knew she was pregnant with their baby.) Bah, I'll stop rambling. But that's what I am getting from it all.
  9. I'm seeing a lot of harsh criticisms of the movie. Now that I've finally seen it.. I COMPLETELY LOVED IT. I think it did exactly what it needed to do. It set up Episode 4. I think the acting was great. I really couldn't have picture anyone else playing those characters. I'm seeing so many people put down both Hayden's and Ewan's performances .. but I completely disagree with those reviews. Anakin was a troubled and confused young man. His turn to the dark side seemed partly out of desperation to save his beloved wife and partly his pride. It had been 'hurt' by the Jedi Council who he viewed did not see his potential. Palpatine fed into that .. knew exactly what to say to him and manipulated the situation. Anakin IS the chosen one. He brings balance to the force.. eventually. The good in him wins out at the end.. in Episode 6. The WHOLE thing was awesome. I did find the youngling part disturbing. I even had a few tears in my eyes. But the story had to be told. I think the scene was perfectly done. I was more worried about actually witnessing it. The scene was more heartwrenching than anything; the ultimate betrayal. You could even see it in the kid's face when Anakin lit up his lightsaber .. he knew what was about to happen. But we all knew Anakin was capable of it .. he had no problems killing the Sandpeople children in Episode 2. Would I see it again? Already making plans to. ;P It was awesome. And definitely worth it in my book. ;)
  10. (I can't seem to get the image to post. ;) ) Anakin Skywalker 81% Padme Amidala 78% General Grievous 67% C-3PO 61% Darth Vader 44% Clone Trooper 44% R2-D2 44% Mace Windu 36% Emperor Palpatine 33% Yoda 33% Obi Wan Kenobi 28% Chewbacca 25%
  11. Unfortunately, I have to work. Who knows, maybe on Sunday. Or next Friday. Bah. It was just so disappointing. ;)
  12. *sniff* I didn't get to see it on Friday night. ;) My plans got all mixed and I got stuck at home while my fiance and some friends went ahead. I'm all sad. Not sure when I'm going to go now. *sob* ;)
  13. Squeeee! I am seeing it Friday nignt. ;) I cannot wait!
  14. Yeah, the speed can get you at first. Just try to pay attention to the ACTION statements and your own chain of command .. and you'll do just fine. ;) It's easier to catch on to it than most people think. It's just getting past the intimidation phase. Good luck! Maybe I'll catch you around in the Academy!
  15. Welcome! You are sure to have fun here.. and we are a nice bunch. ;)
  16. I'd love to have one of those avatars.. if someone would make me one. Just look at my avatar on the left there and that's what my character looks like. ;) Let me know!
  17. I'm sure I've mentioned it to most people at one time or another. I proudly let people know that I am a "GeekGirl" and I am not ashamed of it. It's hard to hide anyway .. I see anything remotely related to something I have fangirlism for .. and I immeduately, "SQUEEEEEE! LOOK AT THAT!" And I get odd looks. But that's okay. My fiance is a geek too. And my mother is the one who got me into Trek in the first place! ;P
  18. "New Adventures" - Midshipman Mithraia Coeur, MD Stardate 051605 (This log takes place after her Academy graduation and prior to arriving on the Agincourt.) The PADD had been sitting on her dresser for a few hours. Mia had decided not to look at it yet, but instead, stare at the stars moving by in a slow dance outside her room's windows. She had been back on the USS Constantine for two days, spending time with her adoptive parents. Being around them felt good; they always had a calming, soothing effect when she was in their presence. Her mother's gentle voice floated into the room before she entered, and Mia smiled slightly .. though still keeping her focus on the passing stars outside. "I just can't get over what a lovely ceremony it was. Definitely different from my own Academy graduation." Katrina Coeur mused, placing a small tray of fruit, cheese and crackers in front of Mia. She couldn't help but want to take care of her adopted daughter .. from the moment she first laid eyes on her. She had never been able to have her own children .. and Mia swept into her life one day and she never regretted their decision to adopt her. Even though the journey had been a rough one .. here she was; transformed from a broken youth .. into a successful, intelligent young officer. And a Doctor to boot! "Yes, it was nice. I was glad to have it over and done with. Finally able to move on with my career." Mia stated. She had never enjoyed her time at the Academy on many different levels. Sure, she loved the classes, the work, the professors.. but on a social level, Mia had been a loner. She preferred the company of her books and studies than to deal with untrustworthy people all the time. Sitting down next to her daughter and helping herself to a piece of fruit, Katrina smiled at Mia and gestured toward the PADD on her dresser, "If you are in such a hurry to move on .. why are those orders just sitting there?" "I .. I wasn't really ready to see where I was going yet. I was just .. I was just going to look." Mia exhaled a bit, her ever-present stuttering problem coming to the surface. Katrina gently squeezed her daughter's shoulder. "Then go take a look. The future is bright, my dear. You have come a long way.. and it can only go uphill." Mia nodded and stood up, grabbing a piece of cheese and biting into it before walking over to her dresser. There it sat. The PADD that would hold her future. Her assignment for the next undetermined amount of time. Her new world. Her new home. She picked it up and pressed a few buttons... ----------- To Miss Mithraia Coeur- Congratulations on your recently graduation from Starfleet Academy. You are among the many graduates out there who are looking forward to their first assignment in Starfleet. The Federation has it's strictest confidence your abilities and it is with great pleasure to inform you that you will be joining the crew of the USS Agincourt, on it's maiden voyage. It is a much sought-out assignment, so make the most of it. Please report to the USS Agincourt one day before it's launch to get settled. You will be reporting to Doctor Tethra Shoeny, the Chief Medical Officer. Godspeed on your assignment. Commander Loren Fidel Personnel Management Starfleet Academy ----------- There it was, and Mia exhaled a long breath, "I have been assigned to the Agincourt. I have heard about the ship .. it's new. I am part of it's first crew." "Oh! That's absolutely wonderful.. your father will deeply pleased. A ship on it's maiden voyage! .. do you understand that you will be a part of history? My sweet, precious Mia.. a history maker." Katrina jumped up from her seat and embraced the petite redhead. She could barely contain her excitment. Deep down, Mia was excited about her new assignment. But a history maker? It wasn't important to her to be a part of history. She had plenty of not-so-pleasant history behind her. All she wanted was to move on with her life, do something with it and perhaps become a more complete person. The Agincourt was a new ship, with a new crew.. and new adventures ahead. Mia didn't want to be the one broken thing on this ship...
  19. LOL, I can picture that too. ;) I love that music.
  20. hi

Good! I've been in the mood for a nice juicy steak... erm, welcome. ;) (Someone pass me some lemon pepper?)
  21. Woohoo! I am in the minority 5%! I love that. ;) Hey, everyone is entitled to their opinions. It's kind of cool how that works. Though.. I seem to love everything. ;)
  22. Hi

Welcome! We are a fun bunch and I hope to see you around! ;)
  23. Welcome, Tori! I am sure you'll have plenty of fun! See you around!
  24. I really enjoyed the episode (though was very sad knowing it was the last one. I still don't believe the show was given a fair chance. But that's just my opinion.) I absolutely loved the TNG tie-in. Especially to an actual TNG episode. And Tucker was my favorite! I literally cried for him.. he was so awesome. And it seemed fitting that he'd give his life for the Captain and the ship. It showed his wonderful character.. The only disappointment I had was the fact I didn't get to hear Archer's speech. I was looking forward to that. But the montage of Enterprises at the end was a very beautiful ending. ::sigh:: I already miss Star Trek. Good thing I have this place to fall back on. Make my own adventures! ;)
  25. Welcome! Hope to see you around!
