  1. I've had that same though, Joy. Cardassia would also have to be closer to both the RSE and the KE if either were to be able to prosecute a war against them for any length of time.
  2. There's is also in semi-canonical literature (that on Talon we consider Canon) an canon evidence that the Romulans and the Breen have a long history of conflict between each other. It's likely that on a 3-d space map they have a border that touches each other. I would not be entirely surprised if the Breen were somewhat involved in anything, as they have a great deal of interest in seeing both the Federation and the Romulan Empire (amd even the Klingon Empire) considerably weakened.
  3. They would have almost had to have been party to the Surrender of Bajor treaty, but likely not the Aegis Agreement as they'd have very little stake in how Cardassia was run post-war. ~Einya
  4. What Huff Said!
  5. You'd want to talk to A9 about that, as I know that Excalibur was already running when it originally joined. I think an International Sim would really cool for our world players, good stuff guys ;)
  6. Should I ever have the oppertunity, I'd love to start a sim TOS Movie Era set after Khitomer and prolly after Kirk-goes missing. Likely on either a Connie or an Excelsior. I think it'd be a cool time to deal with, because there's very little we know about the period from about 2293-2311 (Tomed Incident) and then again from 2312-2340 (Khitomer Raids, et al)
  7. The biology lab smelled of dead duck. Link rubbed his nose and twitched it slightly. While he could have simply done a full body scan, and holographically imaged the body of the dead duck, given the nature of SWMNBN, he felt it best to do this the old fashioned way, besides holograms weren’t a complete substitute for actually dissecting the real thing. Picking up a small piece of assorted organ, Link glanced at the internal parts. There was only minimal tissue damage from the phaser burn, not enough to actually kill the thing, in his opinion. He wondered if this species of duck had an aversion to nadions. The particular specimen of avian perplexed him further, because it did not appear to be related to any known Avian in the Starfleet database, or at least any that he could match a DNA sample too. The bird itself had many of the same qualities of the Anatidae family from Earth, though a peculiar venom producing organ just below the beak seemed to disqualify them. The venom seemed rather innocuous in small to moderate quantities, and Link felt sure that an anti-venom could easily be developed. The LD-50 value, which he’d tested several times now, was only .892. He began to wonder if they’d been genetically engineered. Avians, as a general rule, lacked poison producing genes, though there were a handful of species, notably the Dameon SkyViper. Not to mention their relative “enigma” factor. Had they been on an away mission, and encountered such a species, he’d be less skeptical, but given that these were apparently something that had found their way onto the Republic, their origin, he was fairly certain, had to have come from a local source that the Republic had visited. With that thought in mind, he continued his autopsy of the dead duck, carefully separating part from part and storing them into containers. When he was finished, he’d begin a cellular analsyis to determine if the ducks had indeed been genetically modified. It would explain a great many things, the poison, the aggressiveness…

  11. The only way anyone can change a signature is by being a global moderator. The new boards are highly secure as they are the newest version of Invision boards. If someone "hacked" into your account...and why anyone would want to do that, is beyond me, tt would be because "they" have your password. I'd suggest changing that if you feel your account is no longer secure. Thanks.
  12. In order to reserve your name, you need to have it registered on the boards. Any board name you have, will require your password.

  17. Elasia – Amid the tranquil beaches and stirring scenery, the mood on this once peaceful Federation world has turned dark in recent days. For the first time since before the planet’s two-century long hot-cold war with the planet Troyius, members of the ruling planetary confederation government are speaking of secession. Lead by the newly elected leader of the Isian Free State (ISF), Marshall Tomali Yasian, the group, which includes the non-voting Coalition of Colony States, has been calling for greater control of the mineral wealth of the respective nations. Speaking before his national assembly, the Marshall threatened to break away from confederation government and warned that he would take military action to secure mineral and territorial gains. He also stated that he would not legitimize the oppression of the Dohlman by attending any summits she called. Yasian, a former Elasian military staffer, was elected by a large margin over his more demure opponent earlier this year. To outsiders, the system may seem rather complicated and a short description, likely required. Founded thousands of years ago by an individual, whom many now believe to have been of extraterrestrial origin, the Elasian planetary government is a confederation of the seven largest governments of the planet, each having one vote in the Council of Nobles. There is a central governing authority known as the Dohlman of Elaan, a hereditary leader who has supreme and divine authority over most planetary matters. Initially, the smaller, less powerful countries were not included in this coalition and were under the assumed authority of the Dohlman herself. In the mid 1200’s BCE (Earth) the group became known as the Coalition of Colony States and was given greater autonomy over themselves, but did not attain a seat on the council. Since the dawn of the Space and Colonial Space ages on Elasia, the Dohlman has become the central Foreign Policy leader, with the Confederate States having mostly autonomous control over their own regions. Most of the regions now have some form of either Constitutional Monarchy or Democracy, with the notable exception of the Gailon which maintains a true monarchy. Each of the separate provinces maintains their own infantry forces, with several developing their own star navies. However, there is a single planetary armed services, which oversees the Imperial Elasian Navy and the Army of Elaan Traditionally, the leader of these planetary armed forces has been the leader of the province of Rohland, the Lord Regent. However, in recent years, the de facto leader has been the ranking military general at the time, as the current Lord Regent, Koshic V, has been off planet, serving in Starfleet aboard the starship USS Arcadia. This has proved to be another point of contention for the Yasian lead opposition groups, contended that in the absence of Koshic, the title should fall to the Isian leaders. This move would give the IFS greater power within the Council. The sub textual roots of this conflict have been growing for centuries, dating back to the vicious wars fought between the various nation states. Then, the role of the Dohlman was often to coerce peace and cooperation between the sides, stalemating the conflict. The current Dohlman, Hecua XIV, has said that she wishes to resolve this conflict as quickly as possible. “It is my wish,” she said at a recent press conference, “that the situation can be resolved with a minimal amount of conflict and before any lives can be lost.” The Federation Council has remained quite on the issue, stating that they continue to support the current Dohlman and hope that the situation can be resolved without bloodshed. Sources close to the Council have said that if armed conflict does break out, the Federation Council would have to consider suspending Elasia’s Federation membership until the conflict was resolved. In an effort to bring the conflict to a close before it snowballs out of control, the Dohlman has called a meeting of the Council of Nobles to discuss the issues. At press time, it is unclear if Yasian will attend the meeting or not. Many experts believe that refusal to attend the meeting could result in sanctions by the other members, actions that could light the match to this volatile powder keg.

  22. “Elements,” Destorie N’Dak fumed as he exited the room. “I will na ever forgive that man as long as I take in breath.” Fuelled by his increasing frustrations with his father, t’Rexan, and the rest of the crew he just wanted to lash out at something, someone, anything. He wanted something to feel as torn apart as he did at the very moment. Smacking the buttons on the lift panel, he waited impatiently. The lift doors opened and he wasted no time in entering, barking the location of his quarters as he went. The doors closed and the gentle hum filled the lift. He had na asked for any of this, and yet, he found himself upto his pointed ears in deception, betrayal and politics. It would be a wonder if the crew did na off him before the end of the day. Na that it mattered because he felt sure that t’Rexan, should she survive this mess would throw him out the nearest airlock. There was of course, another option. There was a way to end this mess once and for quii. He’d beat them all to the punch. Na, na…he would na yy’a himself, he was far to proud to ever to do that…na…he would resign from the Galae—or at least put in for a transfer khoi the Talon. Both had their pluses. He could easily resign his commission with the Galae—he’d served his time and his contract would be up soon. After that, he could seek employment as a private d’heno. Perhaps for some Deihu or other politician—you could never have to many good d’heno, especially ios that had been Galae officers. The other, transferring, meant that he’d keep his job within the Galae, a stepping stone towards more powerful positions down the road; yet he would be free of the tyrannical t’Rexan. He could likely get posted aboard another vessel with in weeks and quickly work his up the command ranks. In either case, it seemed a better option than staying with t’Yrant, who he feared would be even more paranoid and filled with venom now that she’d been in subject of his fathers political ambitions and games. The sins of the father would fall upon him.
