  1. ::wipes tears away:: Crispin ... I don't know what to say. I knew you for so little time, then due to fact of life I had to leave excalibur. I really don't know what to say. I guess it matters that we all care. Take care my friend. Let the fighter you designed take you to other dimensions. - Zack
  2. Congrats Councellor :D
  3. *stares at Seiben* HARUI-ISM Ahem... That picture up there looks like of photoshopped LOL.
  4. ::reads bio:: hahahahahaha!!! USS _____, Is that a good ship may I ask? :P Welcome.
  5. Happy new year ... As I said about the previous not so new year new year, what's there to be happy about? :P
  6. As the title suggests Friday, 27th 2006 will mark the 250th year of Mozart ... cause you know he was born 250 years ago. Uh, yeah that's about it I won't post anything boring like where he was born and stuff and what he wrote I'm sure you all know that :P or not. As a tribue I would like to introduce you to my Triangle Concerto. The Pythagoreas I hope you all listen to Mozart (and my song) on friday :) Thank you every one.
  7. hey, what else can you do with a Triangle besides have it play as many notes as possible so people would understand that the Triangle is the soloist.
  8. allllllriiiiighttttt Dibs on Seiben's Couch!

  11. Lt. Cmdr. Tovan Acting CENG SD: 50508.14 Duty Log Entry Tovan stopped tapping on the console and read over his letter, it was a skeleton letter but however it would suffice. Or as the humans say it ... "Good enough". Any way Tovan noted that his sister wouldn't decent lower to chase him all the way here because his letter was sketchy and horribly written. Not that low ... yet. "Computer, send." The computer chirped acknowledgingly. Tovan turned to the matter that he did not like dealing with. He was also puzzled by the currently developement. Despite the good will and uncanny detailed thinking, Lt. Riker manages to step out of line for a small reason. This could lead the entire crew head-scratching in their quarters. Having heard of why Riker attempted this, Tovan could not help but amuse at this. He picked a padd - all of engineering lists, the equipments added and taken, all the software that have been updated, upgraded and purged, no details on an auto-system aboard. He thought like Riker, trying to pick out any instances of an automated system. But there was none. Logically there just wasn't enough room for one and logically, the Manticore wasn't built for it. Was Riker feeling alright? Tovan planned to find out in a moment ... "Computer, update diagnostic logs and continue."
  12. woot go us we rock! ... right ::walks away::
  13. Montague, next time tell us what kind of shield you want eh :D
  14. hmmm I'll give it a whirrl, may have extreme typos since i need to get HOME now and the school is closing ... Okay as all of you know, most energy are expressed as waves that (1) wavelength (2) amplitude (3) velocity and (4) frequency. Since in trek we saw enterprise-D had a modulation of 200 something (giga/tera) hertz, we know that their shield is based on wave energy technology. As you all know for another thing that not _all_ energy are expressed as waves, some as particles: Tachyo-kinetic, light and graviton. No matter how technical you can debate it, and how green to the face you are when you finish, one thing is certain: technology for projecting energy can and will be greatly exaggerated. And the concept and basics of shielding will always be the same, if you have waves, you have frequency and that is what we see in star trek. Since on the ships they and we have, the frequency would probably be in the higher Gigahertz which means the waves of our shields will be vibrating pretty fast, the oscilation per second would be so great that it can start absorping/deflecting EM radiation and/or a physical object. Now whether shields Can or cannot deflect physical object is debatable, i don't have enough knowledge to tell you either. But i can tell you energy is certainly being more absorped than deflected. For example, when energy weapons impact off the shields, as they weaken, structural damage can be observed, when shield percentage and strength becomes critical you may see energy weapons actually go through the shields and impacting the hull. So if deflection occured, the energy bolts would have to hit some where else rather than straight under the shield impact location. (however as i said, this is still debatable). Now my theory of energy shielding occurs like this: as previously said, the wave energy projected as a shield would have to vibrate very fast, and i speculate near or greater than the frequency of light (debatable). As this energy vibrate faster, the incoming cosmic rays (for example) would become incorporated in the shield itself, it the frequencies match or near match, the wave would actually become stronger if inversed, it would destroy a section of it. We see in ST: Generation, that is not the case. The klingons rotated their own weapons to Enterprise-D's shield frequencies, theortically the resulting energy displacement would actually add to Enterprise-D's total shield output. (note this theory is based on basic wave logic and dynamics). Which has me really thinking if they were actually setting their weapons to _inverse_ of Enterprise-D's shields. If they did they had to worry about their own shield frequency ... (Debatable). Well since i'm REALLY hungry and brain dead from Biology exams ... you guys have some fun with my thinking eh. ::nudges Tachyon::

After his brother's death Tovan joined starfleet engineering and vowed to never make a mistake that would end up as tragic and illogical as his brother's shuttle accident. For Tovan's first years aboard Manticore, he had been closed and cold with truth and logic, not making any mistakes and learning from mistakes that he let through. Solitary, he was during those times. The only person he would have considered a friend was his Chief, Cmdr. Garnoopy. Later in his Tovan's starfleet career he realized the daunting and painful truth that he could never prevent everything that could be prevented. After the redesigned Phase Cloak system, first developed by Garnoopy eight months prior, Tovan thought everything was perfect, in fact, it had been one of his heaviest flaws in his life. Ensign Daniel Kroells suffered insanity after a phase cloaked probe was shot through him. All data, recorded by Tovan during the experiment and with help from the medical staff, the problem was determined but the source was never found. After Ens. Kroells was removed from active duty, Tovan was faced with the truth that, mistakes were not the only thing that might influence life or death. As per Vulcan arrogance, Tovan did not bow down to it and continued to work with as little error as possible. To the present, with improved knowledge and people skills, he had lost the cold exterior of memory, incorporated the experiences into himself and became what he is today. He had developed a medical condition of a degeneration in his left wrist due to exposure to high temperature and debris during the battle, in which had placed his chief and friend under intensive care. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ancestoral Time line: Tovek (2006 -- 2224) Toren Born when Tovek was 86 Toren (2092 -- 2298) Toval Born when Toren was 137 Toval (2229 -- Present) Tovan Born when Toval was 100 Tovan (2329 -- Present) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- End of file.

  24. Lt. Cmdr. Tovan Acting CENG Log Entry SD 50506.07 ~~~Log Recording At the current pace of technology developement, there seems to be no limitations to it. Of course there are many limitations present but I believe those limitations would soon diminish one by one. Our dependence upon technology seems to be soaring, in the past few hundred years, civilizations built vast fleets of starships, terraformed incolonizable planets, created evil, conquered evil and placed a choking hand on disease's throat. Advanced artificial technologies had been founded, perfected and built, and now a fully automated station. Before setting my first steps aboard Manticore, I thought of the ship as one of the most advanced in starfleet, and of course it is, Nebula class vessels had been greatly improved and augmented with more advanced technology. Regarding Manticore as a blackops vessel was far more advanced than any Nebula Class in the fleet. Of course if one asked if a full built station nearly a thousand kilometers in diameter, operated by itself, defended itself, processed itself and repair itself, one would have questioned it's legitmacy. But be hold what Manticore's crew are stand upon now - An automated station. For the past days engineering crews slaved around their consoles and monitors, recording and piecing together the puzzle on how this station functioned, we're glad to know the station better but its automated systems really placed us - as humans would say "out of the job". To test the station's consistency and stamina, The Admiral manually imputted codes to disturpt the station's normal function. As the data records show, 4 different accesses to the manual override and 4 restatements of the overriden functions. Gravity, lights, core valves and core dump. The computer responded immediately. The station itself had the power to ignore the override of the Admiral's commands. That is quite a disturbing thought. Out of curiousity I pondered what would occur if the station gained selfawarence like an A.I.? Admiral's overrides would be meaningless and the crew would be under complete control of the station, the builders at the creation's mercy. I've traced this exact thought through Earth's past, there were countless books written in that regard and became a center stone in the present, there are not many machines with A.I. 'runing' about yet. For the record, the crew are in no danger and I would remove the previous thought from my mind. There are always possibilities and I believe this is one that cannot be ignored ever so lightly. I intend to further study the intricacies of the automation programming, very different from actual A.I. but worth a look on my engineering experience. Perhaps in the future, perfected copies of the program would be used aboard key vessels in the federation fleet. ~~~~Log Ended
