  1. Our first stop was eventful. Does this bode badly for the rest of the trip? ;-) Aegis_Chatlog_01_04_09.doc

  3. Muon sat in her office on the station. She was gazing out the window, lost in thought. She was, for the first time, a little scared. Very soon the station would be ready to move to Breen space. It was hard enough to move a military facility but it was even harder to move your home. Aegis had been home for more than 6 years now and her mind was filled with memories of those years here on Aegis. She remembered Moog and defending him in a trial with Ayers as opposing council. She remembered when they found the El Aurian ship and discovered that Ayers knew about it. He had almost lost his commission then. She remembered when the Admiral broke her nose. ::slight smile:: Muon still mourned the loss of the Pandora's Box. ::wry grin:: She remembered the plague.... She remembered everything. They would not only be going on to a new assignment for Starfleet, but they would also be heading to a new home. Would they find friend or foe as their next door neighbor? Perhaps they would find both. The intel reports were still inconclusive. There was still no sign of what the Breen were up to. Were they still there? Were they still planning an attack on the Federation? What other species would they find in this new unexplored area of space? Granted it had been chaotic these last few months but Muon was sure that the crew was up to whatever new challenges they would find in Breen space. Muon glanced down at the padd on her desk. It had their proposed route to Breen space. She picked up the padd and glanced at the route for what seemed like the hundredth time. The only part of the of the route that had Muon concerned was the Lextel nebula that was about halfway on the route. It was notorious for it's energy emissions and radiation. Science and medical would need to keep a close eye on it and make sure the crew was safe. They had plotted a route that safely bypassed the nebula but you never knew when the nebula would act up. Glancing back out the window, she saw the tug Thor maneuvering one of the last platforms from the defense grid into it's hold. For several years the defense grid had been a major part of the security for this area. Now it was gone. There had been talks about placing a similar system around Cardassia but Muon wasn't sure it would ever come to be. The Cardassians were proud and wanted to stand on their own and plus they were not a member of the Federation. Who knew what effect moving the defense grid would have for Cardassian space. If only they were a member of the Federation, then perhaps.... ::sigh:: She glanced up at the computer screen and laid her padd back down on the desk. The latest report from the medical department was up on her screen. It appeared that the virus that had infected the Cardassians was all but gone now. They were well on their way to recovery. Muon couldn't help but wonder what would happen to the Cardassians if something like this occurred again. Who would come to their aid next time? Who would risk their career to go back in time to get a cure for the Cardassians? Again, if the Cardassians were able to join the Federation, then it wouldn't even be a question. They would have all the help they needed. But since they weren't a member....... She pushed a button on her console and another report came it. Communication buoys had already been set it place by the Cardassians to work in conjunction with Federation buoys. The Cardassians would now have to contact someone else, not Aegis. Unfortunately the Federation would now be many light years away unless a ship happened to be nearby. That meant a significant delay in assistance if the Cardassians ever requested assistance. Also, the Cardassians had agreed to allow the Federation to install several listening posts. It wasn't much but, it was something at least. She pushed another button and reviewed a report from engineering on the separation of the station. The first pylon had been successfully detached and they were starting on the next section. It was time for Muon to move to the Mercury. All personnel had been moved to the Mercury with the exception of the skeleton crew that would remain on the three sections of the station to monitor things. The stress on the hull of the station was going to be massive and they needed a team to monitor it constantly. Again, her mind wandered back to the Cardassians. They would have no further engineering support from the Federation. They would have to see to their own engineering requirements, which for the most part they have been doing for the past few years. Still, there would be no one nearby to assist if an emergency came up. Let's face it. Muon would worry for the Cardassians. This a critical time for them. What saying did the humons use for a situation like this? It was "do or die"? Yes, that was the saying. The Cardassians would either make it or they wouldn't. Muon's biggest concern was that the Dominion or some other hostile race would consider this a prime time to attempt an invasion of Cardassia once the Federation moved out. ::sigh:: But Muon had to quit worrying about the Cardassians. Perhaps someday she would be able to do that. When she knew they were safe and strong and able to stand on their own and an ally of the Federation. Until then, she would have her worry. Sighing she stood and powered down her console. Her last official act before heading to the Mercury. She had already sent her "goodbye" messages to Cardassia and there wasn't anything left to do here on the station. Admiral Johansen had already given the go ahead to move once they were ready. For the next few months the Mercury would be their home while the station made it's way to Breen space. The station would arrive several weeks after the Mercury and Portland. Plenty of time for the Mercury to scan, search and check out their new home. It also allowed them a chance to halt the tugs in case there was trouble. It was a very expensive station after all. The Ferengi would never forgive Muon if she let something happen to the station. Sighing, Muon moved away from her desk to the middle of the room. She glanced around the room one last time.... +MERC+ "Quark to OPS. One to beam to up." ::shimmer::

  8. This is the mission briefing for the 11-14-08 sim. The plot so far....... The Cardassians want Aegis gone so they can be on their own. So... the UFP and various other agencies decided to start plans for moving Aegis. This upset the Ferengi since they mostly own the station. They plopped about 50 ships around Aegis and made the UFP very nervous. In response to the Ferengi ships, the UFP sent a large task force headed by Admiral Johansen. The Romulans sent 75 ships and the Cardassians also have a number of ships. This leads to the revising of the Aegis Treaty which for the most part, all agencies have agreed to. In the mean time, something is up with the Breen. Rumors of the Breen disappearing reach Aegis. Starfleet sends reports of strange goings on in Breen space. Everyone is baffled. Suddenly it appears that the bulk of the Breen fleet has left Breen space and is heading towards Cardassia. Readings from the station and also several ships sent to investigate seem to confirm some kind of temporal experiments. Then, the Breen disappear about an out away from Aegis. What the heck? We find several stowaways on the station and discover they are refugees from the Breen and that the Breen had been conducting some kind of experiments on them. The physical examinations conducted on them confirm this. Lastly, Admiral Johansen grants Aegis a new ship, the USS Mercury and tasks us to take it to the edge of Breen space and see if we can't find out more information. So we turn out the lights and head to Breen space to see what we can see. On the way there, the Mercury receives some disturbing information from Starfleet intel and she is recalled back to Aegis. It appears the Breen have not disappeared after all...... This is our plot so far..... Next sim will start with the Mercury arriving back at Aegis with a very perplexed crew. Preparations will begin in earnest for the moving of Sky Harbor Aegis. There is much to be done before Aegis can sever all ties with Cardassia and head to Breen space.
  9. Well, the interface is different but that's no big deal. It just takes some getting used to. The programs shut down differently. They don't shut down by clicking on the X. (by the way the X is on the left side now) You have to go up to the menu and shut them down from there or used the keyboard short cut. That's kind of a weirdness. The programs also install differently. The one thing I can't figure out yet (maybe someone can enlighten me) is how to maneuver to a particular directory for installing programs or saving files. In windows, you can double click on the folders until you get to the directory you need and then install your program or save your file. Not so on a mac, or else I haven't figured it out yet. LOL The pop up window doesn't let me maneuver thru the directories and such. Did I explain that right? That is weird so I wind up saving files to the desktop and then manually moving them later. All in all I am loving the new mac. My 3D graphic programs certainly run faster and that's a big plus. There are more programs available for the PC versus the mac but again, you can set the mac up to run windows programs if you need to. I'm still looking for a macro program for the chat room... LOL
  10. Well after a week on a new Mac, here's what I have to report. I found the right click. LOL Still learning how to install programs on a Mac. It's somewhat different than a PC. I do have a couple of PC games (Pretty Good Solitaire and Jigsaw Galore) that I might have to get Paralells or something to play on the Mac. Luckily Firefox installed with no problem so I'm good to go with the chat rooms. The only major problem I'm having is installing brushes into a paint program called Gimp. They need to go into a folder but that folder (from what I understand) is hidden. It has a . in front of it. How do I find and display the hidden folders? Over all I really love the new iMac. It's way cool. Thanks!
  11. Actually Vista was just the latest in a long list of Microsoft woes. A mac is definitely different but I'm liking it. Thanks!
  12. Thanks everyone for the good wishes. I hereby share the pumpkin pie my brother made for me. LOL ::hands out a piece of pie to everyone:: Thanks!!
  13. Thanks guys!!
  14. ::cue dramatic music:: Back from the store and posting on my brand new iMac!!! Woo hoo. Just testing it out..... I think I lost something tho.... ::looking around for the right click:: Anyone seen it? :)
  15. Sky Harbor Aegis will meeting at its regualr time on Friday, August 29.

  18. From: President, United Federation of Planets To: Cardassian Government Bajoran Government Romulan Government Klingon Government Ferengi Government CC: Captain Muon Quark Aegis Diplomatic Corps Re: Follow-up to Treaty Addendum It has come to my attention that the requested relocation and treaty addendum may have caused confusion and that I should explain more clearly what has driven this request. First, which is common knowledge to all, the Cardassian Government wishes the removal of Sky Harbor Aegis from their space. Second, which may or may not be known by all, is the developing situation in Breen territory necessitates finding out what is going on there. Clearly something has happened to the Breen and we need to find out what. We must also find out what happened to our missing Starfleet vessels. My fear is some large scale disaster. My only desire, and that of the UFP, is to assist if needed. The station will be initially held outside Breen space. Messages and diplomatic requests (stating our peaceful intentions) will be sent for at least several days if not longer. If there is no response, Sky Harbor Aegis will slowly be moved into Breen space. Messages and diplomatic requests stating that we are concerned for their safety will continue as Aegis moves in. If the Breen respond and want Aegis to move back out, then we will do so. If there is still no response, Aegis will position itself around Portas and begin investigations into the Breen disappearance. Again the messages of peace and assistance will continue to be sent until such a time as the UFP deems it appropriate to end them. Let me assure you all that the UFP has made this their number one priority and our only concern is to find out what happened to the Breen. I hope that this transmission clarifies a few things. Lastly, the UFP realizes that the Treaty of Aegis needs to be revised more fully and it shall. As soon as the situation with the Breen is resolved, I shall task the Aegis Diplomatic Corps with revising the current treaty, when there is time. For now, the addendum on the table at this time must move forward. The future of the Breen and possibly the Alpha quadrant depends on it. I know I can count on everyone to assist in anyway they can to resolve the current crisis. I thank you for your support. Sincerely, President, United Federation of Planets
  19. "Vacate the station my lobes!!" Muon hissed to her empty office. She had had enough. She had given Drankum alot of leeway out of respect for his history with Aegis, but no more. Once this situation was resolved, and she was certain it would be, Drankum would have to tow the line before she allowed him back on the station. This "siege" was going to far. Muon had already ordered security to close down Drankum's Bar and lock up Drankum's quarters. All his assets on the station would be seized and locked up as well. During a State of Emergency and martial law, Muon could seize anything she wanted to. Sighing heavily, Muon slumped wearily into her desk chair and leaned back, resting her head. Perhaps, she reasoned, there was more to this coup than met the eye. Surely the Ferengi knew the risk they were taking freezing the assets of member homeworlds, attempting to seize the station, and threatening to financially ruin the Cardassians? What in the FCA were they thinking? They risked expulsion from the UFP and where would that leave Muon? She'd be sent back to Ferenginaar, that's where it would leave her. Was this coup within the Ferengi Trade By-Laws and their codified code of conduct? Muon reached a hand over to her console and quickly sent a message to the diplomatic corps, minus Drankum. Perhaps they could research it and find something. Muon couldn't think of anything off hand but she had alot on her mind right now anyways. If this action was not within the Ferengi Trade By-Laws, Muon didn't know what she would do. Call a Liquidator? ::chuckling:: Was Drankum just a pawn? Did he have any choice in the matter? What about the Breen? The tugs were due to arrive soon and now that she had over 50 ships surrounding the station, she would have to hold the the tugs at a safe position until this was all resolved. Meanwhile, more information was coming in about the Breen. Clearly something was happening over there. Thank the stars she had Chirakis to help sort through all this stuff. They may not have seen eye to eye in the past on their covert missions, but on running this station they would agree on most things. Admiral Johansen had chosen well. With the State of Emergency declared, Muon had no choice but to wait for more information. The station and it's people were secure for the time being.......
  20. From: Captain Muon Quark To: Starfleet Command President, United Federation of Planets Cc: Ferengi Government Re: State of Emergency On advice from the diplomatic corps (with the exception of Ambassador Drankum), as of 2215 hours Sky Harbor Aegis is declaring a State of Emergency and martial law is in effect. Ambassador Drankum, on behalf of the Ferengi Government, makes claims that the UFP is in violation of the Treaty of Aegis and it is now null and void and has therefore demanded that all personnel vacate the station and that it be turned over to the Ferengi Government. Furthermore, the Ferengi Government has illegally surrounded the station with over 50 ships and has actively fired upon the station, thus endangering the lives of all personnel onboard. Traffic to and from the station is hereby suspended and RED ALERT procedures are also in effect. Communications with the Cardassian government has indicated they consider the actions of the Ferengi Government an invasion of their territory and an act of war. The Cardassian liaison, Kith Ghemor, is in contact with the Cardassian government and has stated that more information from the Cardassian Government will be forthcoming. Sky Harbor Aegis is requesting military assistance in order to assure the continued safety of all personnel and also diplomatic assistance in addition to the corps on Aegis to help resolve this situation. Request this situation be assigned the highest priority and that a response be received with all due haste. Respectfully, Captain Muon Quark Commanding Officer Sky Harbor Aegis
  21. Sorry for the lateness!! TO: Ferengi Commerce Authority Ambassador Drankum Treaty Partners CC: Captain Muon Quark Aegis Diplomatic Corps FROM: United Federation of Planets RE: Request for the relocation of Sky Harbor Aegis Please find attached a request the proposed addendum to the Treaty of Aegis. Also I am sending the UFP's official request to relocate Sky Harbor Aegis. In accordance with the proposed addendum to the 2376 Treaty of Aegis, the United Federation of Planets is hereby requesting to relocate Facility 30218-UKRFCB, otherwise known as Sky Harbor Aegis. It is the opinion of the UFP and other agencies that the mission of Sky Harbor Aegis has been fulfilled and that it is time for a change in that mission. The Cardassian government has requested the removal of Sky Harbor Aegis from Cardassian space. It is the opinion of the Cardassian government that their people can continue the rebuilding of their homeworld without Sky Harbor Aegis looking over their shoulder. The UFP is of the same opinion. If Cardassia is to one day join the UFP, this would be the next logical step towards that goal. The UFP realizes there are numerous details that need to be worked out with the Ferengi Commerce Authority and various other agencies however, the UFP feels that an equitable compromise can be reached by all. The UFP is requesting a meeting of all agencies to be held on Sky Harbor Aegis to review the addendum and the request to move the station. The UFP requests that an agreement and consensus be reached by all agencies no later than stardate 081508 (two weeks from now). The new location has not been determined yet but the UFP and other cooperating agencies hope to reach a decision with the next month. Regards, Adm Johansen Starfleet Command United Federation of Planets.

Be advised that the request for relocation of the station and the addendum to the treaty does indeed come from the United Federation of Planets, who is a cooperating agency and government of the Aegis Treaty. Admiral Johansen is acting as the official representative of said agency so the request and addendum stand as is. To date, all other agencies have granted informal approval of the request and the addendum with the exception of the Ferengi Commerce Authority. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to assist with that endeavor. Respectfully and profitably, The President of the United Federation of Planets

After an exhaustive and through review of the document: - The Government of the Ferengi Alliance is greatly concerned by the nature of this request. Article 14, section 1, clearly states that Facility 30218-UKRFCB "shall remain under ultimate civil authority" regardless of any evolutionary capabilities. This request was received from a Cooperating Agency of the Governments of the United Federation of Planets, as indicated in Article 4, section 1, and not the Governments of the United Federation of Planets itself. Concerning is that this request was received from a Cooperating Agency that has been designated in other Agreements as a military authority. - Recognizing this Agreement clearly indicates that the Governments of the United Federation of Planets, acting thru their designated Cooperating Agency Starfleet Command, is responsible for items listed under Article 7, section 2, including operational management; the Government of the Ferengi Alliance cannot find legal authority for this request to be originating from the Cooperating Agency itself since the authority necessary for such a request has not been given to it in this Agreement. - Assuming the civil authority of the Governments of the United Federation of Planets will be promptly resubmitting Document A and any attachments, the Government of the Ferengi Alliance in good faith will not offer an official reply but take this opportunity to provide items for consideration by the Governments of the United Federation of Planets before resubmitting Document A. At such time a revised Document A and any attachments is received, the Government of the Ferengi Alliance will promptly provide a response as required in this Agreement. - The Government of the Ferengi Alliance wishes to recall to the Governments of the United Federation of Planets that Entry into Force under Article 22, section 3, paragraph A, of this Agreement did not require ratification by the Provisional Government of the Cardassian Union. - The Government of the Ferengi Alliance wishes to recall to the Goverments of the United Federation of Planets the Agreement fails to provide under Article 1, Article 6, Article 7 or anywhere else provisions for the relocation of Facility 30218-UKRFCB given the object and scope of the overall program. - The Government of the Ferengi Alliance also takes the current opportunity to remind the Governments of the United Federation of Planets that internal political decisions or future goals, specifically those dealing with any absorption of the Provisional Government of the Cardassian Union into the Governments of the United Federation of Planets, is indeed an internal matter minus external legal obligations. These plans and goals have no bearing on The 2376 Treaty of Aegis, its scope or objectives, minus legal obligations and it would be wise to keep internal matters away from public discussions. - The Government of the Ferengi Alliance, extending all courtesy to the Governments of the United Federation of Planets, shall ignore all included addendums that followed Document A and looks forward to their prompt legal resubmission. It is hoped the contents of this response will be seriously considered prior to resubmission. Signed, Ambassador Drankum Diplomatic Representative for the Grand Nagus Government of the Ferengi Alliance
