  1. I work at a bookstore and so I can order some of the star trek books ahead of time but it just looks almost completely empty for the next 6 months. Please tell me someone knows some news, that we're still getting new star trek books!
  2. a lot of the books don't have "star trek" in the title anymore and I realize this is why it's so hard to realize what is coming up :P
  3. I am ordering them for personal use, but also we need to order them for stock as well and when I don't see anything but the graphic novels - great as they are I've already got the comics and want different stories - I get kind of nervous.
  4. Hmmmmmm that's more books than are on the menu at my book store.. I hope that means I can still get them!
  5. Red says me. Red's my favorite hair color though...
  6. *hides Q sculpture behind her shelves full of Star Trek books* :P
  7. maybe that's silly of me but I'm stoked we have another "dwarf planet" :P
  8. I may worship Star Trek, and drool whenever I get a new book or form of media... but I'm not about to HAVE to worship them in order to get into Stovokor :P
  9. So does that mean Charon technically is a planet as well? I mean.... If Charon and Pluto orbit each other and they orbit around the sun, doesn't that make them both planets? Or is it just a big floating asteroid?
  10. I still think the Goa'uld and the Wraith are far more interesting enemies. But I digress. I'm sick of it always being about war. They have a portal to the stars and I want to see them meet a lot more civilizations and learn about new cultures!!!!
  11. I've actually heard a lot of his songs. They're hysterical, and no, he's not the best singer in the world, but I have not seen a media form he has done that hasn't been entertaining. :P
  12. I have inherited about 20 Voyager books and am now starting to read the series from the beginning - I had read the String Theory books and thought they were quite interesting - but what really bothers me is that in the Voyager numbered books they refer to the holographic doctor as Dr. Zimmerman. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Doctor only refer to himself as Dr. Zimmerman for one episode in Voyager?
  13. Mmmmmm I wonder if the bar serves Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters.... Yummmy.
  14. I didn't enjoy the "A time to" series, but that's a personal preference. I read them anyways. Although so far I REALLY enjoy the Titan books. Anyone else into the comic books as well? I'm REALLY enjoying Star Trek: Year Four.
  15. Weeeeeeelll maybe I'm old-fashioned but I will ALWAYS think of Pluto as a planet. Besides, people are worried that by demoting Pluto that it will lose stature. If we are true explorers, we are not going to let a title stand in the way of us doing some real invesigations and some real scientific research on this rock that's orbit intersects Neptune's. Let's hope they don't demote Neptune soon, or start renaming planets. Like Uranus because it's offensive.
  16. Well I'll tell you the truth. I am REALLY sick of the replicator threat. I thought they took care of that with the weapon at dakara (sp.?). And I miss Jack O'Neal sorely.
  17. Well if we compare it to the roast of Flavor Flav, it was done in the same way. Most of the people making fun of each other more than they were making fun of the roastee. But Shatner's was better. Wish there had been more singing, though.
  18. What civil purposes? Invisible hot dog stands?
  19. Do I use novels as inspiration for my rpging or my writing? I'm sure I do. I've read too many of the books to not be influenced. 1.)William Shatners (Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens as well) Kirk novels? I've read every single one. Except for the most recent one, they were wonderful. 2.) What is the *worst* Trek novel that has ever graced your presence? Hmmmmm.... let me go look at my books real quickly. *walks away... trods back* "How Much For Just the Planet" is the worst one I've ever read yet. Even "Black Fire" was better than that. Also, I did NOT like the crucible books. They were clearly inconsistent with the other books that had already been written. HUGE SPOILERS: Spock ends up with Saavik in most literature, not some human. McCoy does NOT die yet. And the third book with Kirk I couldn't finish because I was so disgusted with the first two. 3.) What does everyone think about "Mary Sue" books? I personally LOVED Uhura's song, and the Yesterday's Son books were amazing to me. Top notch. But as a general rule, my favorite books involve meeting a new civilization, or solving a problem without a lot of warfare. If there's fighting involved, it's not likely it's going to hold my attention span as well as learning about cultural differences in fun, silly and diplomatic ways. As for the numbering, I miss it very badly. It's much more orderly, and you don't have to worry about these side books - which are wonderful but you don't always know when to read them. I'm definitely for seeking out new lives and new civilizations but I'm not big on boldly going when it's just a shoot'im up fight. I like learning about culture!!!! Is it better to actually hold a book in your hands and read it, or read an ebook straight off your computer? Definitely books. They're far more portable for me and they smell better.
  20. I dunno, I think William's still hot. I mean check him out as the price line negotiator. When he says, "You're so naughty" I giggle like a school girl.
  21. I'm still waiting for a Star Trek channel. Maybe then I shall feel duly spoiled. As to the future of Star Trek, let's hope we don't degenerate into such a future that Star Trek is forbidden to even be spoke of such as in Futurama.
  22. There are lots of things in this world that people thought was impossible. Just be patient. We'll have teleporation yet.
  23. Why don't we go to Ganymede? Now that's a very interesting seeming place to visit and explore from everything I have read. Not that I'm against finding Vulcan. That would be beyond spectacular.
  24. My last name is Black IRL. I hope it doesn't eventually become politically incorrect. I'd hate to have to change my name. Yuck!
