  1. RES Talon Mission Briefing 51805.31 - Season 23 - The Talon is currently docked at ch'Rihan shipyards for repairs while the crew enjoys some well deserved leave. Laehval tTemarr: Questions? m_k_tksa: I was going to ask a question, but I can't remember what it is. Laehval tTemarr: The answer is yes, whatever it was. Laehval tTemarr: TBS is whatever you want it to be. m_k_tksa: Muhahahaha Laehval tTemarr: BEGIN SIM Laehval tTemarr: BEGIN SIM Laehval tTemarr: BEGIN SIM m_k_tksa: ::gone swimming:: STSF Seiben: ::on his water skimmer cruising around the lakes by his villa:: m_k_tksa: Maec>::watching the one who's gone swimming:: m_k_tksa: ::pops her head up as she swims to the side of the pool, grins and tickles the foot Maec has dangling in the water:: Laehval tTemarr: ::Laehval frowned at the ocean waves as they rolled in over her toes.:: I don't like cold water. STSF Seiben: Hmm cool Lerak trPexil: Au were born of fire, of course au'd not like it. We could take the RAC somewhere warmer. Lerak trPexil: (wow, only 10 seconds later) Laehval tTemarr: The sun is warm, but na the water. ::She enjoyed the beach, except for all of the sand and the screaming children, and the freezing water. But other than that, it was nice.:: Lerak trPexil: This is just the wrong time of year, na that we get to pick. 2. USS Republic Mission Briefing 51805.21 - Season 26 Ok, so last week we left off having just told the delegations about the time they were going to have to take away from the planet, while the energy beings.... corrected things. Needless to say, they were unhappy. However, as the crew had presented the proof, and had the files to prove it....and now need to be told that they must leave, as per Federation Quarantine Procedures BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM STSF_BluRox: Holly> :: turns to Rue:: There you go....they have the proof. You get to tell them they are required to leave...do you need the Admiral back? I can call her for you STSF Seiben::: running the projections on the holoscreen;; STSF_BluRox: Holly> :: walks to the replicator and pulls out several binders which she passes to the delegates from both factions. Rue Wydown::; addressing the delegation:: So there isn't any question of staying, the colonist will die. However, if you leave for the specify quarantine period, you can return to a fully terraformed world....a *safe* world. STSF_BluRox: Holly> In your binders, you will find several pockets containing data chips with all of the information you are requesting, terms of the agreements which the Commander is explaining to you Heather Jamieson: :: Sitting back down in the conference room awaiting their reactions :: STSF Seiben: ::Sits next to Heather watching as well:: Heather Jamieson: :: Glances at Seiben :: ACTION: As expected, the groups explode into heated argument, Heather Jamieson: :: Grimaces :: Rue Wydown: ::steeples her fingers together, waiting for a break for a moment, figuring it's better to let them blow off steam first, besides they can't leave the ship without Blu or her say-so::: STSF Seiben: ::rubs his chin:: STSF_BluRox: :: BluRox walks back into the room:: grabbing a water pitcher and tosses it across the room to crash against the wall, and vessel shattering in an explosion of clay and water:: STSF_BluRox: EINOUGH!! STSF_BluRox: Which part of the danger did you not understand? STSF_BluRox: Seiben, Heather..... Explain to them what happens if these neutron star particles continue to push into the core of this planet? Heather Jamieson: If it is not 'cleaned up' the particles will go deeper into the core of the planet, causing more tectonic activity. STSF_BluRox: That's putting it mildly STSF Seiben: Yes ::turns to the projection:: That's correct. The tremors you've been experiencing will only get worse over time and will soon threaten both of your settlements. Heather Jamieson: As it heads to the core there is a risk of opening up the earth beneath you, molten activity. If those events don't kill you the end game will. STSF_BluRox: Listens to them still arguing that the Federation is just trying to take their planet away STSF_BluRox: :: turns to look at Rue:: Heather Jamieson: :: Loads up a time lapse projection :: Let me run this. The time index is at the bottom right. :: presses run ::: Rue Wydown: Listen folks. We're concerned about your safety. You asked us here for help, we didn't come here to take over. Rue Wydown: We can either start the evacuations now, peacefully. Or wait until the planet is falling apart and hundreds die. Their blood will be on your hands. You won't be seen as leaders of your community, but executioners of families and friends. STSF_BluRox: That, and the fact that you had petitioned the Federation for membership, and being approved and now part of the Federation, how is it that you see the planet being take away by the people you asked to help you here? STSF_BluRox: For that matter, and as the Federations representative, I am hereby ordering this planet vacated for the 10 year period. At that time, you will then be permitted back. Instead of 10 years of hard toiling to cultivate this world, ti will be done for you. Use these 10 years, to get together what you want to bring to set up your new colony then. STSF_BluRox: I will hear no more argument on the matter. I have full say in the matter. You have 1 week, to get together your personal items and research, any equipment you want to move off for now. Anything you are not able to remove with your transport ships, the Republic will see to for you Heather Jamieson: :: nods :: STSF_BluRox: Seiben and Heather here will work with you to set up what systems are needed to gather and collect STSF Seiben: ::nods as well:: Heather Jamieson: :: All of the work to do... :: STSF_BluRox: Seiben and Jamieson here will see to getting you organized. STSF Seiben: \Yes, let's get started STSF_BluRox: I was thinking that may have just been easier to send them a subspace message...on the slow channel Rue Wydown: ::just shakes her head:: Its certainly faster than letting them reason this all out. STSF_BluRox: We didn't have time for that...... I'm just glad Holly replaced that alloy pitcher with that fragile clay copy to help with the dramatic effect. :: grins:: I left the room so I could ask her to set that up, a little dramatic flair to get ther STSF_BluRox: their attention Rue Wydown: So now what do we do with the lot of them? We've got to help relocate them. Any suggestions? Heather Jamieson: :: Consults her PADD :: Now I will admit I have not had a large amount of time to see what items you have, but I'm sure you have records of what you need to take. STSF_BluRox: I'm just glad to be getting away from here once we make sure their transports are up and heading out. We'll need to have Seiben set up the Federation Quarantine Zone warning message buoys, and we can have Heather deploy the buoys and proximity detectors that will signal the Federation if anyone violates the zone STSF_BluRox: Their own planets are still 5 parsecs in each direction....this was more a territorial land grab to ensure one of the other had control over more of the space in this sector, which is why the Federation said they could terraform it and share it STSF_BluRox: They can go back to their worlds and wait Rue Wydown: Let's just hope they do just that STSF_BluRox: It's totally up to them if they prepare to come back. They can have prefabricated items ready to bring back STSF_BluRox: Well, if they don't want trouble with the Federation, they will have to abide. Though, Sieben and Heather will be busy for the next week STSF_BluRox: How about we go grab some of that nasty tea stuff of yours. It tastes awful, but it does help my headaches Heather Jamieson: :: Drawing up an early look at cargo capacities and such :: Rue Wydown: Well, if you wouldn't make such a racket, you won't have a headache now, would you? ::teasing as she heads to the replicator to specify the blend:: Heather Jamieson: :: Working with Seiben on moving people and things off the planet :: STSF_BluRox: And if I hadn't, we'd still be in there listening to them argue...:: deciding not to tell her that her constant headaches have not totally dissipated. STSF_BluRox: So with that....Everyone have a nice week and I'll see you all on Thursday. STSF_BluRox: Crew Dismissed.
  3. USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING 51804.23- Season 26 The crew was meeting to discuss the situation on the planet and see if they could come up with any reason why these anomalies could be happening. It had been concluded that fragments from a neutron star may have hit the plant via a comet, and we speculate that they may be a direct cause, however we've yet to explain the lights. Holly may have a theory. Heather Jamieson: :: nods :: STSF_BluRox: Holly> I've been ready... STSF Seiben: Yes. STSF_BluRox: Blu> Holly.....just the results please.... STSF_BluRox: Holly> Fine...... Ok, so as I had noted earlier, there seems to be some sort of signal or harmonic that we've not been able to figure out. STSF Seiben: ::Sips his coffee":: STSF_BluRox: Holly> I've been working on this pretty much full time, but have yet to been able to determine how or why Heather Jamieson: :: Thinks about the harmonic :: STSF Seiben: Hmm. ::sip:: STSF_BluRox: So the next question :: Blu looks around the room:: Is to determine what is causing this. Is it just a side effect of the neutron fragments, some sort of radiation? STSF_BluRox: Is this just some sort of vibration being caused by the energy in the fragments and it's radiating outward? STSF_BluRox: Or, is there really some sort of message. STSF_BluRox: Any thoughts? Heather Jamieson: I would surmise a reaction with something in the ground upon impact. STSF_BluRox: Please explain, for those here that may not be in that field of science Heather Jamieson: The fragments were traveling extremely fast. The impact could have changed the structure of metals under the surface. Both the fragments and the surrounding area would have been superheated. Heather Jamieson: On the surface it looks recovered, but under the ground, where we can't scan reliably, changes occurred. Heather Jamieson: That said, I've not seen anything like this in the science database. Heather Jamieson: I can't say I want to go back to the area.
  4. USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING - 51803.26 - SEASON 26 The crew, having discussed what their findings could mean, have come to the conclusion that there may have been some tiny fragments from a neutron star's implosion, that may have been carried to the planet by a meteor or comet that had struck the planet at some time in it's past. This could explain some of the disruptions, magnetic fluxes, odd occurrences. The team is researching its possible origin, as well as how we proceed to keep these colonists safe BEGIN SIM STSF_BluRox: Rue, I believe you were asking if anyone had tried cleaning up something of this size. The answer is no. There have only been 2 other documented cases that were thought to be something similar, but the sites were abandoned in early colonization. It may be that it wasn't a major issue until they stared terraforming the issue here STSF Seiben: ::looking at an overlay of the planet in astrometric:: Rue Wydown: And I don't suppose suggesting they relocate elsewhere will work. ::frowns:: STSF_BluRox: However, I do have a question, we checked out the sites that the one group had mentioned, however the other colonist/terraformers had also reported that they had been having issues as well. However, we've not really followed up on that site. Did anyone gather any information hear the planetary food distribution warehouse STSF_BluRox: If I recall, they too had experienced some power and equipment failures, but had also reported increasing frequency of the shimmering lights Rue Wydown: We had not the chance to do so. We had away team issues. ::thinking of someone's broken ankle:: Heather Jamieson: :: Looking at Wydown :: STSF_BluRox: Noted...perhaps we could get a few readings from up here, request an update, or if need be, take a quick trip down to follow up STSF Seiben: (I thought you were in astrometric Heather) Heather Jamieson: (think I was, scratch that then) STSF_BluRox: lol Heather Jamieson: I felt something funny Seiben STSF Seiben: Is it your meds? STSF_BluRox: Speaking of those shimmering lights Rue, had your away team spent much time scanning them, trying to determine what they were? STSF_BluRox: (sorry, just realized this was a Jax thing....::pulls out the Cardboard Jax:: ) Heather Jamieson: I am on pain medication, so my thoughts are...not my own to some extent. STSF Seiben: Hm, that's some meds they gave you. Rue Wydown: Our overnight scans were inconclusive. However, with the data Holly was able to collect, I'm speculating that were residual effect of the anomaly she picked up on STSF_BluRox: Holly> I can take a further look at the scans Commander Jax had taken at the dam and on the plateau.....but information from the other site would be helpful Heather Jamieson: What an odd formation on this planet. STSF_BluRox: Holly> it almost seemed like there was some sort of residual interference with each of the readings we had received. I'm still looking into it. STSF Seiben: Yes, it certainly is. Heather Jamieson: I have to wonder if this is solvable or perhaps moving is easier. STSF_BluRox: Holly> :: launch a probe to that area and continue the reading:: Heather Jamieson: Truthfully though I messed up the entire mission due to my ankle STSF Seiben: I was gonna say anything, but maybe it would've been better If we stayed in the shuttle? STSF_BluRox: Holly> I can do that. I believe that when we first arrived, some data had been sent and Jax was going to review it. I'll request she send me that info to add STSF Seiben: How is your ankle by the way? Heather Jamieson: It feels...funny. STSF_BluRox: (your funny bone is located in your arm, not your ankle! lol) Heather Jamieson: Tried to get some advanced readings....and I don't like being around Jax at all. I don't know why I don't request a transfer. She is very stressful to have around. STSF_BluRox: Holly> :: appears back on the bridge:: I found the same interference in the readings from the other site, but much much stronger when the shimmering is reported Heather Jamieson: I think we'd have to solve this before actual fighting breaks out with these people. STSF Seiben: I agree with the latter statement. STSF_BluRox: Holly> May I put this on the main viewer? STSF_BluRox: Yes, Rue, let's get the rest of your away team up and see if they make any sense of this noise Heather Jamieson: Our luck we disrupted an unknown lifeform. STSF Seiben: Bad luck I'd say. Rue Wydown: +Seiben and Jamieson+ Away team, please report to the conference room immediately. STSF Seiben: +Rue+ Aye sir. STSF Seiben: Well, let's do this. Or not, STSF_BluRox: (if you chose not, I'm sure Rue will skin you both alive) Heather Jamieson: This ole ankle it to report to the conference room. :: gets up and heads out of the lab :: I like your realistic attitude, STSF Seiben: Just keeping it real. Heather Jamieson: :: Time passes and Jamieson and Seiben arrive at the conference room. Then enter... :: STSF Seiben: ::follows Heather inside:: Heather Jamieson: Reporting as ordered. Rue Wydown: ::just shakes her head a bit:: STSF_BluRox: Holly sets up the cardboard Jax in the corner STSF Seiben: ::stands next to Heather:: STSF_BluRox: Ok, thanks for coming back again to discuss this puzzle. Holly has been going over the readings that Rue and Jax had collected, as well as the data that you and Seiben had collected.... looking at Heather::: Heather Jamieson: :: nods :: STSF Seiben: ::looks around:: Heather Jamieson: Yes, what to do from here. STSF_BluRox: Have you been able to work out any possible exploding stars or supernova that materials could have been ejected from or carried here? ::looks at Heather and Seiben::: Heather Jamieson: Any explosion would have happened a long time ago. :: Pulls up a map on the display in the conference room LL STSF Seiben: ::glad the Science Girl is taking the lead here:: STSF_BluRox: Yes, that we know, we're just wondering if thee could be any corresponding data on meteors or comet may have also frequented those same areas.. Heather Jamieson: I do have a timeline of meteor and comet paths for this region over the past few years, both calculated and observed.. STSF_BluRox: Holly> Admiral, Captain...if I may. I believe that the interference we were picking up, might actually be some sort of ...message or communication? STSF_BluRox: A message? From who? STSF Seiben: (a Nigerian Prince lol) Heather Jamieson: I wondered that, but I can't parse the data as fast as Holly. Rue Wydown: A message? ::quirks her eyebrow:: PAUSE SIM PAUSE SIM PAUSE SIM Heather Jamieson: I need to get 500 bars of gold pressed latinum out of Ferengnar... STSF_BluRox: Ok, so next week, we'll look into this message more STSF_BluRox: Rue, you have anything before I dismiss? Rue Wydown: Nothing from me tonight STSF_BluRox: CREW DISMISSED. See you all on Thursday!
  5. USS Republic Mission Briefing 51803.19 - Season 26 The senior officers had been discussing what the computer and Holly had made of the data they had returned, and it was the group's hypothesis that at some point, a comet or meteor had hit the planet, and had possibly contained fragments from an exploding neutron star, that must have had enough acceleration and mass to escape the forming black hole. Heather and Seiben were going to Astrometrics to see if they could doe some scans of the planet to see if they could see more information about where the impact was, while August and Rue were going to discuss options with Blu. STSF_BluRox: :: quickly pours herself a cup and moves the hot pot and trivet over to Jax STSF Seiben: ::looking at the view screen intently:: STSF_BluRox: Cardboard Jax> :: messages Rue to meet them in the conference room Rue Wydown: ::heads on in the conference room, padd under one arm, whistling a merry tune:: August Jax Robinson: +Rue+ I am in the Conference room when you are ready STSF_BluRox: (I bought an iced tea on the way home, only drank half of it, wishing it was hot tea now) Rue Wydown: ::taking a seat at the table:: I can safely report, I witness no bridge crew members sticking gum under their console. Heather Jamieson: :: Twists the display to show a cross-section :: Hmm... Too bad I'm not a geologist. August Jax Robinson: they might fall apart if fresh Gum isn't added STSF Seiben: I just drive ships and press buttons STSF_BluRox: Holly>:: sighs at the two of them:: Heather Jamieson: That worked so well for my friend Kasuga. STSF Seiben: Hm, yes. STSF_BluRox: Blu> :: sighs that the two she's with STSF_BluRox: Holly> :: turns to Heather:: Did you sleep thru her whole trial? STSF Seiben: Kasuga> ::relaxing at a beach somewhere on Earth, drinking a cocktail in a coconut cup:: STSF_BluRox: Holly> she's lucky she wasn't locked away for years Rue Wydown: I think that duct tape works better than gum STSF_BluRox: Blu> I don't even want to know.... STSF Seiben: I just have to remember not to speed Heather Jamieson: You have an interesting AI program Holly. STSF Seiben: ::Says nothing, remembers what his cousin told him about Holly:: August Jax Robinson: ::starts looking over her padd:: STSF_BluRox:Holly> I am not a program Cadet Rue Wydown: As long as I don't catch someone using washi tape on a console, I'm fine STSF Seiben: ::Space Janitor Heather:: August Jax Robinson: Holly, has anyone from the planet tried to contact us since we left? STSF_BluRox: Ok....so let's get you caught up Rue. Short guess by Holly, is the planet got hit by a meteor or comet as some point, and that she thinks from the data that was collected, that there is some evidence that perhaps some fragments from an exploding neutron star were buried in the crust upon impact Rue Wydown: That'd explain the readings we got and the weirdness. How large of an impact field was it? August Jax Robinson: ::Pulls up old scans of the are and compares them to the resent one's that were taken:: I wonder if that impact moved the planet and rotation STSF_BluRox: Holly> one second... +Jax+ Yea, same stuff from the leaders of both of the Terra forming groups, still complaining that the other side is trying to sabotage them STSF_BluRox: Jax, pull up those scan's Holly sent us of the plateau... we're guessing it mainly hit here.. :: pointing to the almost crater look of the upper plateau, and the small basins where the dam had been built and the large food storage location Heather Jamieson: An impact fragment. STSF_BluRox: Holly was unable to correlate anything to guess what the shimmering lights could be coming from Heather Jamieson: A more than normally concentration of protons. August Jax Robinson: ::Pulls up images and puts the on the mini screen in there:: Heather Jamieson: It may be reacting to natural elements in the plateau. STSF Seiben: That's a possibility. Rue Wydown: Could that possible be some sort of residual dust? Or chemical reaction in the air? STSF_BluRox: Holly> Ok, so the Admiral and the others are looking at the planet, as we've already pulled those views up....what she wanted you two to work on...is to correlate with the computer and try to determine what star went Nova , a neutron star, and most likely formed a black hole. STSF_BluRox: Holly> It will take some time and searching, but try to match the energy amplitudes, I've already have been scanning, but this needs someone’s full attention, I'm also working on some other possibilities Heather Jamieson: But what to do if that is the case? STSF_BluRox: Holly> Can you two handle it? I'd start with 'known' nova information and extrapolate from there to rule out those that do not match STSF Seiben: Ooh black hole. I'll do my best. STSF_BluRox: (don't let your work suck you in Seiben) STSF Seiben: (I'll try not to lol) STSF Seiben: (that would.. suck) STSF_BluRox: it's possible, Holly is trying to cross reference against any previous type of encounters August Jax Robinson: I think the planet might have shifted when it was hit Heather Jamieson: :: nods :: STSF_BluRox: But, what I wanted to discuss with you two.....is if we find that we do have dark matter fragments buried in the crust, is there any way to expose if and if so, will it just kill u STSF_BluRox: you STSF_BluRox: We need to figure out if they can remain here with this, is there anything that can be done about it safely, if not, anything done at all? August Jax Robinson: The ground may be contaminated as well, it might be safe to eat if it does grow STSF_BluRox: And if not, and evacuation plan, but I'm almost certain they'll just accuse us of trying to take over their planet and resources August Jax Robinson: *not STSF Seiben: ::starts search up information about the recent astrological files on this area of space::: Rue Wydown: Has anyone attempted a cleanup of a site this size? STSF_BluRox: We've got no records of this small of an amount, any evidence of larger fragments, has...well...worked its way into the mantle and core, and destroyed the planet. , we've only been able to study examples after the fact, nothing in progress. STSF_BluRox: (Search farther out Sieben, we'd not want to be in the same sector as a black hole) Heather Jamieson: :: Gets records for the planet's changes over time :: STSF Seiben: (cool, will do) STSF Seiben: ::expands his search to cover several more sectors:: Heather Jamieson: (Search your feelings, for you know it to be true) Rue Wydown: So this isn't going to be easy, is it? August Jax Robinson: is it ever easy? STSF Seiben: This should be a good range here. Rue Wydown: No, no it isn't Heather Jamieson: :: Wondering how to repair this planet... :: STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM August Jax Robinson: ::Paused::: STSF_BluRox: Good sim, let's figure out where these particles may have come from, and determine the final impact this will have on the planet STSF_BluRox: Ok, any questions bedfore we stop? Heather Jamieson: Could have been Hawking radiation. Heather Jamieson: None here.. Good to know Jax still likes me. Rue Wydown: Nothing from me August Jax Robinson: when did I say that?! STSF_BluRox: ok then..so for now, Crew Dismissed, See you all on Thursday
  6. USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING 51803.12 - Season 26 The away team has returned and are in a debriefing with the Admiral.......Rue and Jax had just brought up the power station and we are awaiting the rest of the reports. August Jax Robinson: (w) protect me Blu STSF_BluRox: (that's creepy Heather) STSF_BluRox: (Why am I envisioning you all in a Scooby Doo episode right now?) STSF Seiben: Zoinks! STSF_BluRox: (brilliant....what a great future idea!) STSF_BluRox: BEGIN SIM STSF_BluRox: BEGIN SIM STSF_BluRox: BEGIN SIM STSF_BluRox: :: Sits back listening to Rue and Jax discussing the power plant / hydroelectric dam:: Heather Jamieson: :: Watching the progress of the computer models being created from the tricorder data. They could not get clear readings, but perhaps the computer could shed some light... :: STSF Seiben: ::watches as well and listens STSF_BluRox: I'd like to hear from each of you, what your impressions were at the dam. STSF_BluRox: Jax, please continue August Jax Robinson: ::Points as Rue talks, then brings up images:: STSF_BluRox: Any opinion Jax? Why the twisted metal every time they started it up? August Jax Robinson: I think the system should have been maintained better. but with the work we did, as long as they keep it up August Jax Robinson: it should last STSF Seiben: I agree, maintenance issues aside the dam seemed to be well constructed. STSF_BluRox: What did you do at the dam to correct the issue? It was my understanding that you were observing August Jax Robinson: I think they had a weak metal, it is natural that it would need to be replaced with a stringer STSF_BluRox: But why every time they started it up, the new turbines would bend as well? August Jax Robinson: they used the best the planet could make STSF_BluRox: Quite the puzzle STSF_BluRox: ::turned to Heather and the newer Seiben...it was hard to get past the family resemblance , nearly identical to one of his predecessors:: Tell me about what you found up on the plateau? STSF_BluRox: (oh wtf.... weatherman is now saying we might get 24"....3 days ago, it was 3-6"...grrr) Heather Jamieson: The readings were off the charts for a tricorder, but I think with the ship scanning and our local devices scanning we should be able to create a clearer picture. But we are only scratching the surface, literally. Preliminary data suggests activity below the surface. STSF Seiben: We found abnormal readings coming from the lakes there; a high amount of electromagnetic readings. August Jax Robinson: ((umm, this is my 3rd Nor'easter. we can't keep up with the tree branches! our cherry picker is sidelined because she is a 1994/1992)) STSF Seiben: (oooh) August Jax Robinson: ((FYI, the truck and Boom might not be the same age)) STSF_BluRox: (3rd in 12 days here.... but they are sort of normal for us here) STSF Seiben: We weren't able to pinpoint the exact source of these readings before we left, but I imagine it is what's causing all the electrical interference. STSF_BluRox: Heather, what did you find about the readings...I know Holly mentioned that she sent some information to Rue to inform the team. She will be joining us shortly, she's investigating another lead and wants to have all her data together before she joins us Heather Jamieson: Very erratic, highly energetic. I'd not want to remain there long. I believe the source may be underground. August Jax Robinson: it was a long hike STSF Seiben: That it was Heather Jamieson: There is so much interference that real-time analysis is not really possible. STSF_BluRox: So, can I have a hypothesis from you all, as to what you think it might me? STSF_BluRox: (sorry, had to pop into the lobby to help someone new) Heather Jamieson: A geological anomaly centered at that plateau due to underground rare element structures energized by... I'm not certain. Could be the work they are doing here. Geological activity... STSF Seiben: It seems really a large source to be manmade, though I wouldn't discount the possibility. I would assume its some sort of electrical field or geological phenomena August Jax Robinson: I think it might be something kind of vibration, like area's that have those sounds from no where in places August Jax Robinson: there is no sound that we can hear, it might not be something we can pick up... yet Heather Jamieson: Dilithium deposits...? STSF_BluRox: What of the ...sparkling lights that they were describing. Did you get a chance to observe and record the phenomenon? STSF_BluRox: (Welcome Suvok) August Jax Robinson: We did see them, it was amazing STSF Seiben: The lights could be an electrical aura similar to the auroras on Earth's poles Suvok: (Thank you, BluRox.) Heather Jamieson: Very low to the ground Seiben STSF_BluRox: ::looks down at her Padd noticing that Holly had just sent some files to review:: STSF Seiben: Yes, but the electrical field is underground as you suggest, then I suppose it could be possible... but then again, you're the scientist not me. STSF_BluRox: Ah, one moment..... got some information: transfers the file to be shown on the larger screen. STSF Seiben: but if the electrical...* August Jax Robinson: ::Looks over the readings:: STSF Seiben: ::looks at the screen:: STSF_BluRox: Holly had noted that there had been some anomalous readings that on a much smaller scale, almost appeared similar to what would be seen from the energy or debris from an exploding neutron star.... Did you factor any of that into your information and hypothesis? ACTION :: brings up a holoimage of the plateau the team had just visited. From orbit, it can be seen that it is not just a plateau, but actually a crater upon a mountaintop, but not like a volcano. Heather Jamieson: No, but I can. The computer will have to take some time with it. STSF_BluRox: Holly is already working on it, she had assumed you took the information you had been sent to factor it into your observations. Heather Jamieson: I was correlating the tricorder data with the ship's sensors. STSF_BluRox: Holly> ::: activates the viewer and shows up on their screens:: I've been going through the data and the information that the team collected. it is my best hypothesis, that a few small fragments from a neutron star implosion, may have made their way here by the power of the blast. Typically, most matter would have been recaptured by the resultant black hole being formed, however, it is not uncommon that a stray bit may escape. STSF_BluRox: Holly> If this indeed what the issue is, these people may have a problem. It may be that those small fragments by nature of their density and general nature, are most likely working their way down into the planet and may be the cause of the electromagnetic disturbances. August Jax Robinson: isn't that what I said? STSF_BluRox: Blu> Holly, keep investigating, I'll have the team factor in this new information and see what they come up iwth. STSF_BluRox: Alright, while Holly works on that.... what impact on the colonist could this have, and on the terraforming project in general? STSF_BluRox: Anyone? August Jax Robinson: it could destroy the planet Heather Jamieson: As they scale up projects it could become a greater problem. STSF_BluRox: That is a distinct possibility STSF Seiben: Yes, I'd imagine the more they dig, the bigger the electromagnetic disturbance gets STSF_BluRox: I think it also relates back to the bent turbines at the dam. Not shoddy workmanship, but electromagentic issues STSF Seiben: ::nods:: STSF_BluRox: Heather, Seiben, I'd like for you both to head to Astrometrics and discuss this with Holly. Heather Jamieson: Understood. STSF Seiben: Yes sir STSF_BluRox: Jax, I want you and Rue to discuss the colonist issue with me. Do we need to evacuate? If they refuse, do we make them leave or are we forced to let them be? August Jax Robinson: I think if they keep on drilling yeah, they are going to go boom STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM August Jax Robinson: ::Paused::: STSF_BluRox: Ok, great job tonight being a bit on the light side. STSF_BluRox: Any questions or comments before we end tonight? STSF_BluRox: (Oh...and say hello to Suvok, who stopped in to watch the sim, and I believe is a new member?) STSF Seiben: Hey Suvok: (I am Indeed. I am watching to learn of how the roleplay functions.) STSF_BluRox: It's pretty easy, you are welcome to stop by our Romulan game on Thursday night if you like as well, and Seiben has a weekend game he runs as well STSF_BluRox: Also, if you look at he drop down menu at the top of the screen, on the help tab, the drop down menu will take you to Walking and Talking, it will detail how we talk and type to indicate conversation vs actions STSF_BluRox: There are games most nights during the week, feel free to drop in and watch how they go. We are open to new crew so if you are interested, stop back again and we can discuss letting you try playing on a trial basis to see if you like it or not STSF_BluRox: Ok, and I know some of you have to work in the morning, so let's wrap this up for tonight. STSF_BluRox: Crew Dismissed. See you Thursday on the Talon
  7. USS Republic Mission Briefing 51803.05 - Season 26 The AT has reached the plateau and have been busy trying to take readings and trying to determine what the shiny glittery lights that are rising from the ground are. The crew has also received some data from Holly STSF_BluRox: Begin Sim STSF_BluRox: Begin Sim STSF_BluRox: Begin Sim Action: Holly sends a message that if the team could send her their hypothesis upon what they are seeing, that she can feed the ideas into the computer and see if there is any feasible correlations... As for the shiny emanations, I'm at a loss... Rue Wydown: +Holly+ The question now is how to fix the problem. ::hands on her hips:: I know what Robinson would say if he was there, he'd blow it up. August Jax Robinson: that does sound like an excellent idea STSF_BluRox: +Commander+ Please hold one moment, I'm getting a transmission from the dam again.... :: sends some irritating "hold' muzak on the line for the Away Team while she takes the other call STSF_BluRox: (careful...you do have 'a' Robinson with you..... STSF Seiben: Feeling queasy as well? August Jax Robinson: ::Pulls Heather back onto her sled, pullie thing... sissy:: August Jax Robinson: ::Fakes feeling OK:: STSF Seiben: ::smiles and helps pull Heather still feeling queasy:: Heather Jamieson: Thanks...ugh.... :: on the sled :: STSF_BluRox: +Commander Wydown+ I do believe from the information that I've received from your team, and tying in what we have from the transformers form both colonies, coupled with the information our scans from the ship have shown, I think it would be best if you were to leave the area, much as the colonist did, and return to the ship for further discussion. If you could bring a soil sample, it would be helpful Rue Wydown: You would just fail on my planet. ::shakes her head:: Did someone upload the readings to Holly Heather Jamieson: Need a sample. :: looks down :: STSF Seiben: ::stops so Heather can pick up a sample;: Heather Jamieson: :: Seals the cap :: Got it. August Jax Robinson: ::sits next to Heather::: hurry up and get some dirt STSF Seiben: Cool STSF_BluRox: (did she get a handful from her sled, or did she actually take the core sample that was requested earlier?) Rue Wydown: ::hangs head:: ACTION: As the team has taken the requested samples and made their way back down the shuttle, they have returned to the ship to make sense of what they've scanned, collected and observed August Jax Robinson: ((If it was tonight, then no. 8. USS Republic Mission Briefing 51802.26 - Season 26 The AT is getting close to reaching the plateau which had been creating the difficulty for transport, travel and colonization in general up here. August Jax Robinson: ::Hands Rue a Power bar::: Heather Jamieson: Let me lower the scanning range. August Jax Robinson: ::bites into one herself:: how far you think that is Rue Wydown: Hard to estimate from the looks of things. I thought just a half hour or a bit. What do you think? Heather Jamieson: May have to investigate closer. August Jax Robinson: how far does your tricorder say H ? Heather Jamieson: Range is one kilometer now Rue Wydown: One Kilo isn't too bad. Heather Jamieson: We are on the perimeter of this phenomenon. STSF Seiben: Hmm August Jax Robinson: Well, seems far when you have dead weight to drag with you :::Heather:: Heather Jamieson: :: looks ahead of her :: Looks like if the readings were any more intense we could not enter. Heather Jamieson: I know you are there for me Commander Robinson. August Jax Robinson: then you know more than me on that one STSF Seiben: (I'll be there for you...when the rain starts to pour..) Heather Jamieson: Wonder if we have to wait for what they saw. Rue Wydown: She's not dead weight. Let's get moving. My credit card can't take another blow from Disney Planet STSF_BluRox: (hint....Seiben..if you scroll back through your PM's, you may (will) find a good description) Heather Jamieson: :: Bends down to touch the ground with her hand :: August Jax Robinson: something up with the ground H? Heather Jamieson: Sometimes the senses can pick up signals the tricorder can't. August Jax Robinson: no... no they can't August Jax Robinson: I'm an engineer, trust me STSF Seiben: ::checks his tricorders:: Right, it seems to be coming from that mountainous area over there by that lake, judging by these energy readings they could be emitting strong EMPs, which may explain why our equipment isn't working. Heather Jamieson: I don't trust you, that's the thing. Heather Jamieson: Is there a pattern to the pulses? STSF Seiben: Too hard to tell with these readings, I'm afraid. Rue Wydown: ::scans through her tricorder to play back what Holly sent them:: STSF Seiben: But, it does seem to centred in that area. Holly> After several scans from the ship while we orbited, and from reading I've compared to other phenomenon that we've encountered, it is almost as if we were picking up emanations similar to a neutron star..... 11. USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING 51801.22 - SEASON 26 The away team had split up to cover more ground, with Heather and Seiben heading up into the mountains, while Jax and Rue had been monitoring from the shuttle. The ship was unable to go any further due to the interference that the colonists had reported. This also has been making communications difficult. After injuring an ankle, Heather and Sieben were stranded about halfway to their objective when it turned dark and left them without survival gear. Luckily the Republic had been monitoring and had sent a survival pack to them, and pancakes to Rue and Jax. And then we'll continue our research as planned. August Jax Robinson: {{in school, was it still bagged or boxed?}} STSF Seiben: (it was in a carton.. bagged milk only comes in 3 - 1 litre bags)) Heather Jamieson: Let's share the blanket while we drink the coffee you have.... August Jax Robinson: ::Grabs some toast::: have they tried to comm us? Heather Jamieson: It sure did.. STSF Seiben: Was expecting a much worse night that day, so we owe Holly one Heather Jamieson: Did the shuttle attempt to communicate with us overnight? STSF Seiben: No. I didn't get anything, though the reception here is terrible. STSF Seiben: I wonder if they think we're dead Rue Wydown: No, Holly wasn't able to get us a connection on our end. I have no idea if they tried themselves. I thought I'd try this morning to see if sunup would make a difference. We at least know where they are. Heather Jamieson: Something in the area is messing with the radio bands. STSF Seiben: Want to try again? It's gonna be a rough night, but at least we're out of the wind and rain... mostly. Heather Jamieson: We need more for the fire. STSF_BluRox: Holly> +COM+ Commander, this is Holly. We were checking on crew readings and noted that your party has become separated. We've also noticed that 2 of your party are showing signs of physical stress, most likely due to the elements. We are still unable to beam anyone up due to the interference Heather Jamieson: Cold, but fine for now. Heather Jamieson: Readings similar to those around the dam, but more intense. STSF_BluRox: (if you've received PM's from me the past few weeks, perhaps a quick review of what I sent! lol) Rue Wydown: Seiben, find a place to land if you could. STSF Seiben: Aye sir. Checking for landing spot STSF Seiben: ::does so;: ACTION: As the ship's navigation and stabilizers are going haywire, this is becoming a more urgent idea Heather Jamieson: The signal is too strong for accurate readings STSF Seiben: ::struggles to compensate for the interference but manages to land the shuttle:: OK. We landed STSF_BluRox: (so anti-dramatic) August Jax Robinson: did hit any birds did you? STSF Seiben: Not this time. STSF Seiben: ::powering down engines and opens the exit hatch:: STSF_BluRox: @Republic +com+ Commander Wydown. We are noting that your shuttle was having difficulty and have landed in a mountainous region away from the population centers or dam. We were having trouble picking you up. Is everyone ok? Heather Jamieson: I have to place some filters on the incoming signals. Rue Wydown: +Republic+ We're just fine. Just a bit of an issue with the navigational controls. We'll get up and going again shortly. Rue Wydown: Jax, can you see if you can work on the shuttle's issues? Seiben and Jamieson, I want you to take readings over to the north. STSF Seiben: Sadly no. We were losing altitude pretty quickly. STSF_BluRox: (Luckily for Jax, Rue ordered her to stay and work on the shuttle's nav system -- scroll up!) STSF_BluRox: (however, she is welcome to hike as well!) August Jax Robinson: ::talking to herself, grabs a spanner:: August Jax Robinson: ::Mumbles:: we don't need pilots... none of them know what they are doing Heather Jamieson: :: huffs :: Hard to localize the signal with this interference. Heather Jamieson: :: Stops and turns to scan another direction :: Heather Jamieson: I bet there is something in all this mess. I thiink we need to walk further. ACTION: As they had spent the majority of the day at the dam before heading up towards the mountains, it is obviously a short while to sunset. The team must decide to head back to the shuttle and start fresh in the morning, or push on in the dark, in a rocky mountainous hike. STSF Seiben: It'll get dark soon. Think we can go on ahead still?? STSF Seiben: All right. I've got my flashlight. If you want to press on. Heather Jamieson: Let's... STSF Seiben: Okay STSF_BluRox: Let's? STSF Seiben: Let's?.. 15. USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING 51712.04 - SEASON 26 The Away Team has been down investigating the strange happenings and readings that have been picked up at the dam location down on the planet and working Dalon Nvechkionarshiv (Dalon for short). The team is debating if they need to look for more clues to the shimmering lights and strange tricorder readings. BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM ACTION:: Dalon's assistant has pulled out a map, and has marked the locations around the dam, and up approximately in the mountainous region where the strange shimmer and anomalous readings have been taken place. Rue Wydown: Looks like we're going for a hike. Grab your gear kids. August Jax Robinson: ::scans the map with the ones their scanners to and overlaps them to see if anything stands out to her:: STSF_BluRox: Dalon> You have to be really careful if you go up there. Too close to this area shaded in red, and whatever vehicle you have taken will cease to work. The propulsion units will seize up and actually bend shap. So, we knew there was something bad about working up there, hence, we moved our operation down here Heather Jamieson: When can we get to that location of the 'apparitions'? August Jax Robinson: Apparitions? STSF_BluRox: You can go anytime you like, though, we don;'t always see them. However, the shimmering seems to show up more so when any type of machinery or technology is interactive Heather Jamieson: :: Looks at Jax :: Just what they are calling them. STSF_BluRox: Dalon> :: rolls his eyes at the Away Team and their meaningless, less than helpful questions:: Hey!! :: turns to his work crew:: Stop standing around staring at the strangers. Rue Wydown: And how do you suggest we do that? August Jax Robinson: lets get walking STSF Seiben: OK Rue Wydown: They said we could take the shuttle as far as the ridgeline. ::sighs:: That make this go faster. Heather, I want plans on how you mean to trigger the 'things' before we're airborne. Seiben, make sure you don't stray too far STSF Seiben: Yes sir... August Jax Robinson: to bad they don't have any live stock to get us moving fast once we hit that point Rue Wydown: Jax, now that you've seen the machinery, what are your thoughts...besides horses and mules. August Jax Robinson: ::Looks up, shielding her eyes from the sun:: could be another Race, sparking some kinda distortion to keep people away August Jax Robinson: or the Boogie Man STSF_BluRox: @+COM+ Commander Wydown. Can you scan the report to Heather's tricroder, please? Heather Jamieson: :: Eagerly looking at the new readings coming in :: STSF_BluRox: @ +COM+ Will do. Rue Wydown: Well, what do you think we should try first? August Jax Robinson: we can go together, or split up, and when I say split up - I mean I am not with Heather Heather Jamieson: Jax, we were getting so close. Rue Wydown: What's wrong with her? Could they have been caused by this anomoly? Heather Jamieson: :: Resumes her scanning :: August Jax Robinson: I am an engineer, I am thinking about the dam August Jax Robinson: (VQW) also, there is a strange smell STSF_BluRox: Dalon> I'm not certain, but the Gaitians keep going on and accusing us of shutting down the large stasis field they put up at the food storage location. Personally, I think it's a ruse, to cover for their messing with the dam, to look like they are victims too Rue Wydown: ...or the water going through the dam? ::tease:: August Jax Robinson: ::Sniffs the air again:: STSF Seiben: ::scans as well:: Rue Wydown: Perhaps you should check it out then, Jax? ACTION:: Dalon's assistant brings the team a recent scan of the dam, lake and nearby mountain region. While their equipment is not as refined as the Republics, it still is able to show that there is some sort of megnetic disruption, almost like one would find with a spacial anomaly we've seen in space before, but not accurate enough to determine what. August Jax Robinson: I will go look, but I am still an engineer August Jax Robinson: ::opens Tric, walks towards the smell::: Rue Wydown: ::checks her chrono:: Well, Jamieson, Seiben? Heather Jamieson: :: Looks to Seiben :: Are you getting this? STSF Seiben: Yeah, I'm getting it too. I was just about to ask/ August Jax Robinson: ::walks around aimlessly:: Rue Wydown: Getting what? You two planning to keep the secret? Or are you going to fill the rest of us in? August Jax Robinson: ::Taps tric, trying to find the source:: Heather Jamieson: It's strong for something terrestrial. STSF Seiben: hm Heather Jamieson: The disruption is a strong magnetic force. Heather Jamieson: It could be interacting with any ferrous based alloys Rue Wydown: So what is A> the cause and B> how do we mitigate it? Heather Jamieson: We have to pinpoint the cause. Rue Wydown: And? STSF_BluRox: Dalon> That would be helpful. ::turns to assistant:: Bring us the detailed maps of the area before we blasted, both here iand in the mountain Rue Wydown: ((Guys, the action statements have several hints going on.)) STSF_BluRox: Dalon> We originally were going to settle at the higher elevation. The weather was better up there, and more buildable lands, even with the hills and mountains. Heather Jamieson: We need to get closer to the source and hope it does not overpower our tricorders. Follow me Seiben.. STSF Seiben: All right, sure thing. STSF_BluRox: Dalon> But there was too much of a disruptive field, it kept disrupting our power sources and the number of ground shifts were increasing, so we settled on this location. And now we get some of the same here... STSF Seiben: Ahh, that's too bad Heather Jamieson: :: Stops :: How long have this disturbances occur? Rue Wydown: Jax ::calling out to her:: How are your scans going? August Jax Robinson: ::looks up:: OK, trying to find the source of this magnetic field Heather Jamieson: Dalon, do you have a record of the location with the most disruption? STSF_BluRox: Dalon> We've already given you the locations that were reported both in the mountain, and the strange reading now here Heather Jamieson: :: Pulls up her data :: I think we need to go there. STSF Seiben: ::looks:: Not too far off. STSF_BluRox: (bingo) STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM STSF Seiben: ::paused:: Heather Jamieson: :: paused :: STSF_BluRox: Ok guys, going to end it here for tonight, I really am feeling bad and want to get back to bed. Next week, head up to the mountains to look at the original blasting sites STSF_BluRox: Have a nice week everyone, stay well. STSF_BluRox: Crew Dismissed and good night all
  17. USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING 51711.20 - SEASON 26 STSF_BluRox: The Away Team has traveled down to the planet, and are currently speaking with Dalon Nvechkionarshiv (Dalon for short), discussing issues that have occurred at the hydroelectric dam that caused it to be shut down again. The team has just asked for a tour. BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM STSF_BluRox: Dalon> Be sure to use the handrails as we descend. Watch your step, it is often damp on the stairways and hand railings. Rue Wydown: ::glances at the others before following Dalon down:: How many work on the planet? STSF Seiben: ::nods and follows the group, gripping the handrail as he goes down the stairs:: Heather Jamieson: :: Scanning the area, awaiting the tour of the facility :: August Jax Robinson: :::hangs in the back of the group:: Heather Jamieson: :: Holds to the handrails :: Heather Jamieson: :: Feels Jax behind her :: STSF_BluRox: Dalon> : thinking about it:: Well....if I had to guess...I'd say we've each picked up a few more over the years, when supplies had been left. I'd have to guess that we both have about 250 people, give or take a few STSF Seiben: Hmm STSF_BluRox: Dalon> The original agreement was 150 from each faction, but in time, as more hands were needed, that has been increased, but the administrators handle that. We've had a few families started...but with the issues that have been going on, several recently left during the annual supply run Rue Wydown: And with plant here? STSF_BluRox: Dalon> Under the agreement, both sides split aspects of the work, and each share in taking care of the major projects. We handle the power, they handle the food processing. Without power, their food would spoil, and without giving us food, they get no power.. But.... STSF_BluRox: I'd say we have about 75 that work the dam Heather Jamieson: :: Scanning the railing and walls :: August Jax Robinson: ::Looks around the area:: Rue Wydown: About 30% then? Heather Jamieson: :: Scanning the dam for problems :: ACTION:: As they get near the bottom of the facility, there are quite a few teams working on some sort of metal constructs and apparently hammering or welding items back into place. STSF_BluRox: Dalon> I don't make the assignments here, that's the admins, but as we've been having issues here of late, I need a full team to get this back up and running to keep our part of the deal...that or our food gets held by the Gaitians.... Heather Jamieson: :: Heather looks rather concerned, concentrating her tricorder on the constructs :: August Jax Robinson: ::takes a closer look at the team working:: Rue Wydown: What do you mean by food gets held? STSF Seiben: ::watches the construction team as well:: ACTION: Heather, like Seiben earlier, pick up and extremely strong power signature radiating throughout the structure Heather Jamieson: :: Tunes her tric... :: Dalon? I have a question. STSF_BluRox: Dalon> What is it? August Jax Robinson: ::talks to the welder suggesting a better angle on his ark:: Heather Jamieson: I am getting strong power readings all over this structure, farm more than I would expect for a dam of this type. Why is that? Heather Jamieson: (far rather) STSF Seiben: ::rubs his chin in contemplation:: STSF_BluRox: Dalon> That, is what we were hoping you could tell us. It started not too long after we activated the first turbines a few months back. As you see, this is a rather new structure, it took us years to build. However, once we got it active, we started to pick up those strange readings, and then the shimmering ....spirits...whatever they are, started to show up Heather Jamieson: :: Tries to triangulate the strongest reading :: Heather Jamieson: We need to see those 'spirits' you speak of. STSF_BluRox: Dalon> but then too, accidents and failures began to occur. Come look..... :: points to the workers dealing with the disassembled turbines STSF_BluRox: Dalon> I hope they don't come back. Every time we see them, something fails. We've not seen them since we had to take the turbines offline. ACTION: Dalon walks them over and nods for the workmen to take a break while he shows the Federation team. Rue Wydown: (m)If these are multi-universal 'ghost' cybermen, I'm going to have a hard time deciding on whether or not I should fangirl or run for my life. STSF_BluRox: Dalon> Typical, normal turbine.....at least it was when we installed and started it up. But as you see, the blades, are all bent and twisted....again. I am having my teams correct them, so that we can get the power up and running again. Heather Jamieson: :: Stoops down and scans :: Heather Jamieson: Was this twisted from heat? August Jax Robinson: ::runs her hand along the blade, and then on the next one:: STSF Seiben: That must be some heat. This is some pretty industrial grade metal in these blades ::runs his hand on one of the bent blades:: Rue Wydown: ::nudges Seiben:: You're awfully quiet. What's the problem? STSF_BluRox: Dalon> :: sighs:: No....but we have no explanation either. Each time, we get the power up and running, there is some sort of ....I don't know, as if the entire turbines are being pulled into the ground... STSF Seiben: Taking it in mentally sir, though I admit I'm not an expert in hydroelectric dams Heather Jamieson: :: Scans to determine the heat needed to bend this metal :: August Jax Robinson: :::looks over the center core the blades are connected too:: Rue Wydown: Yes, but you have other expertise. STSF Seiben: Yes yes Heather Jamieson: :: Moves to Jax :: What are you making if this? STSF_BluRox: Dalon> :: If you will excuse me, I'll be right back....:: goes to check on one of the other teams and see if any of them have any updates STSF Seiben: ::scans the blades and the blade shrouding:: Rue Wydown: ::trying not to face palm after Seiben's comment:: Rue Wydown: So what could cause this damage? And don't tell me ghosts. Heather Jamieson: Plasma.. but I don't know of intense heat in their accounts. Rue Wydown: Plasma, how? August Jax Robinson: i think the center housing is made of a weaker compound then the blades, it could cause them to curl in on themselves or worse STSF Seiben: I am also of Jax's opinion there Heather Jamieson: Perhaps some unintentional product of their energy production. August Jax Robinson: ::licks the blade, and then the Center core housing::: STSF Seiben: ::watches Jax lick metal:: August Jax Robinson: ::Glances over her shoulder::: They are made of different metals STSF_BluRox: (Ok, Yulon Cornelius) August Jax Robinson: :P~~~~ STSF Seiben: Can you tell what kinds? Heather Jamieson: (Who's the abominable snowman?) August Jax Robinson: {{you}} August Jax Robinson: ::Smirks:: I am not that good, we have to test both' Rue Wydown: And what are the scans showing? August Jax Robinson: but you can taste the different compounds in each. Heather Jamieson: Some residual heat all around the structure. August Jax Robinson: ::Closes her eyes and runs her fingers across one piece and then the other:: August Jax Robinson: The outer blades are cooler to the touch, they are a much stronger metal then the cores. I am sure that is the reason for the failures Heather Jamieson: Is there a reason the blades would be comprised of different metals? Rue Wydown: Seiben, let me see your tricorder. STSF_BluRox: Dalon> ::overhears as he comes back:: No way.... These are the same blades we use back on our homeworld. We've never had a problem with them. STSF Seiben: Sure ::hands it over:: August Jax Robinson: ::Squeezes the center housing to feel the strength of the metal and to see if her delicate, soft, lovely hands can dent the metal with only a touch::: Heather Jamieson: Perhaps they are under more stress than they are rated for. Rue Wydown: ::sighs softly, starts scrolling through the data he's collected so far;: STSF_BluRox: Dalon> I've used these turbines all my life. It has to be the Gaitians. They've done something to cause this. They came for a tour as well, after the first time the power failed. Came to see their handiwork I'm sure STSF_BluRox: TWO MINUTE WARNING Rue Wydown: What's this? ::points to one of the readings to Seiben:: This weird anomaly. STSF Seiben: ::looks at the tricorder:: It's a high spike of electromagnetic energy coming from the area:: Heather Jamieson: :: Wonders about the reading :: Rue Wydown: And what would be causing that? STSF_BluRox: Dalon> What anomaly? STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM Heather Jamieson: :: paused :: STSF Seiben: ::Paused:: STSF_BluRox: Ok...so next week.....weird anomaly, weird spikes of energy, metal bending..... what could it be!? Rue Wydown: Well guys. Hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving STSF_BluRox: Anyway, hope you all have a nice holiday and we'll see you all here next week. August Jax Robinson: Tribbles in the metal STSF Seiben: Past tense for me STSF_BluRox: Good sim all, be well all STSF Seiben: Good night! STSF_BluRox: Crew Dismissed
  18. Happy 26th Anniversary USS Republic - Keep Trekkin'!!
  19. USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING 51711.13 - SEASON 26 The Away Team has went down to the first area that had reported having some equipment difficulties (shut downs, shorts) and also reporting some sort of shimmering apparition over parts of the lake and mountains above. They have met with Dalon Nvechkionarshiv (Dalon for short), and are discussing any issues he may know of. BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM Heather Jamieson: :: Looking around, trying to get the lay of the land, err, planet :: STSF Seiben: ::follows Heather and Rue:: Rue Wydown: ::wondering if the apparitions are a gas output, like the Griswalds (or so she heard):: STSF_BluRox: Dalon> :: has sent one of his men to bring a copy of their mechanical readings from the dam, as well as any local scans to try to get a fix on where they had been seeing those shimmering areas Heather Jamieson: I'm sure there is a logical explanation for those appearances STSF Seiben: Yes, I'm sure as well. Heather Jamieson: How long have these sightings occurred? STSF_BluRox: Dalon> The only other thing we had noted, was some sort of strong reading, coming from both the mountains, as well we thought there were some readings near the lake, but like I said, our computers got messed up, not sure why yet Rue Wydown: ::glancing at Jamieson and Seiben who've uttered the one sentence you do not utter on a Republic away mission....:: STSF_BluRox: Dalon> They've been seen more recently, after the blasting in the mountains, and then more frequently as we try to repair things Heather Jamieson: Blast the mountain? STSF Seiben: ::scans the area with his trircorder:: STSF_BluRox: Dalon> Yes.... we're terraforming, we had to divert some rivers, so they ended up here and made a basin to hold it, from here, we then have hydroelectric power and a water supply. And with controlled release, nice farm and wetlands down below. Rue Wydown: And prior to the terraforming, I"m assuming you all did a full catalogue of lifeforms? STSF_BluRox: Dalon> However, with the accidents, we're worried that there could be a failure of the dam, and flood the settlements Heather Jamieson: We can collect structural data and run simulations on our vessel. STSF_BluRox: Dalon> Of course, the biologist did. I just do dams and geology. Though we did get some of the darnest readings after we were working on things. But we also thought it could be from a meteor that had brushed the atmosphere. Most of it should have dried up STSF_BluRox: (burnt up, but it's possible some fragments or debris had landed) Heather Jamieson: We may need scans from Republic herself. Rue Wydown: Can you give us a tour of the dam facility? STSF_BluRox: Dalon> Did you want a tour of the dam? Heather Jamieson: :: Wonders about those 'accidents' he spoke of :: Heather Jamieson: :: nods :: STSF_BluRox: Dalon> :: grins as they speak at the same time:: STSF Seiben: ::Looks at his tricorder:: I'm getting some usual scans - getting some high energy readings. It could possibly be electromagnetic interference? STSF_BluRox: Dalon> Of course, this way.... STSF Seiben: Hmm. ::follows:: Rue Wydown: ::following along behind Dalon, glancing around as they travel:: STSF_BluRox: Dalon> :: turns to the Federation officer:: Well, you may be picking up our generators, though as he see, they're pretty much offline while we are doing safety checks. Perhaps they have some sort of remaining charge STSF Seiben: Perhaps, but it seems kind of high. How recently were they turned off, if I might ask? Heather Jamieson: :: Really wants to see these apparitions as they called them :: STSF_BluRox: Dalon> The other day.... the apparitions are easiest to see at night when it's dark STSF_BluRox: Dalon> Be certain to hold the hand railing, these steps can be a little slick due to condensation Rue Wydown: How much time before night fall today? STSF_BluRox: Dalon> Looks at his timepiece: I'd say we have about 3 hours until it's dark . You all will share with us any tampering that you might find with the equipment? We want to prevent any issues, not lose the dam while negotiations are ongoing with those untrustworthy Gaitians Rue Wydown: We'll let you know what we find out. But I expect full cooperation from you and your people while we investigate. Something tells me this is more complicated than it looks. STSF_BluRox: Dalon> Here we go, here are our 4 large generators that harness the power from Rue Wydown: Whooo...wow. ::taking a gander:: STSF Seiben: ::looking at the generators:: Ooohh STSF_BluRox: Dalon>, Yea, I"m pretty proud of building these myself, but something keeps frying the power grid and we have to keep turning them off. STSF Seiben: ::then at his tricorder as it begins to beep erratically:: I'm picking up more unusual readings again, the same electromagnetic spikes. But it seems to be coming from outside towards the horizon towards the mountains or the lake. Rue Wydown: How often does that happen? STSF Seiben: ::not quite sure what to make of the tricorder readings:: STSF_BluRox: Dalon> As I was saying, it's been getting more frequent since we finished the main blasting and the lake has filled Rue Wydown: How long have you been down this time? STSF_BluRox: Dalon> About 4 days, we're almost ready to start it up again. Hopefully today, most likely tomorrow STSF Seiben: My tricorder is picking up these odd electro-magnetic fluctuations. Some odd gravitational readings as well. It seems to be concentrated in the mountains over there in the distance. I think my tricorder might be on fritz. Rue Wydown: Is this the only area where you're having trouble? I mean, your settlement itself hasn't had issues. How far away is the other settlement in relationship to this facility? STSF Seiben: ::to Heather:: I think my tricorder's dying. How's yours? You picking up the same thing? STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM STSF_BluRox: Crew Dismissed
  20. USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING 51711.06 - Season 25 The away team has headed down to Melos 3 to investigate several incidents that have occurred on the planet. Incidents that both sides of the joint colonization group is blaming the other for. (last episode of Season 25) BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM (From last week: ACTION: Shimmering apparitions are seen yet again in various locations where both factions have been working on expanding) Rue Wydown: Mr Seiben, ready for landing? Heather Jamieson: :: Awaiting the landing :: STSF Seiben: ::Nods:: Yes sir. ::just finished the flyby of the area:: Starting landing now.. STSF Seiben: ::begins to land:: Rue Wydown: Everyone, I need you all to be respectful and neutral. Do not speculate in front of the locals, understood? STSF_BluRox: (which of the areas did you go to first? Rue Wydown: ((Hang on, let me look it up)) STSF Seiben: (yeah, sorry I don't recall) Heather Jamieson: Understood Admiral STSF Seiben: Understood ::completes landing of the shuttle and powers down:: STSF_BluRox: (one of the leaders mentioned the hydro electric dam, the other a medical and food storage complex) STSF_BluRox: (ie, which leader is going to be pissed that you saw the other first....lol) Rue Wydown: ((The hydro electric dam is where we were starting, they called first)) Rue Wydown: ((And Heather, I'm not an Admiral :P)) Rue Wydown: ((Woulds split the team - but we're too few)) Heather Jamieson: (sorry) STSF_BluRox: (all good, just wanted to make sure had the group in the right place) Rue Wydown: Alright, let's go poke the bear, eh? ::grabbing a pack with a few pieces of scanning equipment and other items they might need:: STSF Seiben: ::Nods, takes what he needs as well:: Heather Jamieson: :: Gets out her tricorder :: Rue Wydown: ::exits the shuttle and takes a few moments to orientate herself:: Heather, impressions? STSF Seiben: ::follows Heather and Rue:: Heather Jamieson: A bit humid...distinct sources of electromagnetic energy sources, ACTION: The area north of the dam is an arid mountainous region, tall rocky cliffs with crystalline formations, the area around the dam irrigated and green from the terraforming. Heather Jamieson: An impressive structure, and a good place to start. STSF_BluRox: Water flows from the spillways, powering the turbines within the structure, leading to a well-controlled flow and basin below, flowing out into a delta leading to the new farmland STSF Seiben: Very nice Rue Wydown: Starts your readings now. ::motions towards what looks like the dam's mechanical entrance:: Rather beautiful. ::glances then back to Seiben:: I want you to find out about the history of the area, who's laid claim to it in the past, any sort of squabbles about who owns what. STSF Seiben: OK sir. ::takes out his PADD and begins looking up the history of the area:: Rue Wydown: I'll send to Jax the data on the accidents in the area for analysis. ::deep breath:: Let's go meet the natives, eh? Heather Jamieson: :: Scanning for any devices that perform no functions for the generation of power :: Rue Wydown: ::begins the trek from the shuttle to the dam:: STSF Seiben: ::looking over data on his PADD as he walks along:: Heather Jamieson: Surprised we were not greeted as we landed. :: her tricorder chirped :: STSF Seiben: No welcome wagon Rue Wydown: Especially after how worried the politicians were. Let's not get too worried about it. Heather Jamieson: :: turns to scan in the distance :: STSF Seiben: Terraforming seemed to have began in the area soon after colonization. Ownership is supposed to be 50/50 but there is some overlap in key areas, the forests and waters. ACTION:: As the party approaches, one of the dam workers sees them, and waves them towards the walkway up Heather Jamieson: :: Looks a the dam worker, then to Rue :: STSF Seiben: ::Nods to the worker:: Rue Wydown: ::plasters on one of her cheeky grins and waves back before trotting up the walkway:: Heather Jamieson: :: Continues her scans amid the greeting :: STSF Seiben: ::continues his research as well:: Dam worker>: Oh good, you've come. You're the Federation people, right? Rue Wydown: Aye. ::nods:: Commander Wydown, My science officer Ms Jamieson and our intrepid bridge officer, Mr Seiben. Dam worker>: I'm Dalon Nvechkionarshiv, originally from Darbeth. You can just call me Dalon STSF Seiben: ::Gasundheit:: Heather Jamieson: :: nods :: Rue Wydown: So what seems to be the problem, Dalon? Dalon> The rest of my team are down monitoring the turbines. We had another incident last night, a slight power drain....some of the men reported seeing a shimmering apparition again...But I've not been here to see it myself. I'm planning to spend the night to see if we see it happen again. We're trying to determine what the Gaithians are doing to disrupt things, but we've not been able to find anything just yet, be we'll catch them eventually. They've been trying to deflect our accusations, by pretending they are having an issue as well and blaming us for power drains at their large medical and food storage facilities. They are just trying to make excuses. Heather Jamieson: :: scanning as she listens :: Rue Wydown: And have you all explored any causes beyond your neighbors? Heather Jamieson: :: Wondering if there is a good spot to place a sensor to catch these apparitions :: STSF Seiben: ::who you gonna call?:: Dalon> There's no indigenous peoples here on Melos, it's just us and the Gaitians. We've scanned around, there were some strange reading in the mountains, but since we blasted for the dam, we've really not picked up much of it since. Rue Wydown: Considering all the possibilities of non-carbon based life forms and other freaky lifeforms we've encountered, I'd rather ruled out other possibilities as well. STSF Seiben: HM. Heather Jamieson: Strange readings? Dalon> Some magnetic anomaly, but we've not seen it since the blasting the the lake filling. Heather Jamieson: Where? Any information or scans you have could be valuable. Dalon> Hmmm, I'll have one of the men go see if we've still got copies of those readings. Dalon> We have limited space, so they may have deleted those older files. Heather Jamieson: I sincerely hope not. 21. USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING 51710.30 -SEASON 25 The crew has been given assignments by Rue to follow up on once we go down to the planet (Melos 3). Colonized about 20 years ago but 2 previously warring worlds, in an attempt to share and both joining the Federation, there have been reports of sabotage and possibly potential harm to the residents by contamination to food and water, and energy sources. Both Prelate Greb of the Darbeth delegation and Proctor Tarrot of the Gaithian Province. have contacted the Republic sure that each other side was responsible. We are here to determine what is happening Meanwhile, Blu is ill, and Rue is heading up the mission. BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM STSF_BluRox: :: sleeping :: Heather Jamieson: :: Reading a PADD :: Rue Wydown: Ooooooookay. This is going to be interesting. Let's meet in the shuttle bay in 10 minutes. Heather Jamieson: :: Enters a lift :: ACTION: Both Prelate Greb and Proctor Tarrot continue to send messages to the Republic requesting they come to their position at once and 'deal with this problem of the others August Jax Robinson: ::Steps off the lift and heads into the Shuttle bay:: Heather Jamieson: :: gets off the lift at the flight deck :: STSF_BluRox: Holly> Aye, will do. Don't you worry. I've already sent an alarm to check on you, and STSF Seiben: ::heads into the shuttle bay and begins his pre-flight inspections:: Heather Jamieson: You know how to fly this thing Mr. Seiben? Heather Jamieson: :: nudges him :: STSF Seiben: Yes, of course. STSF Seiben: It's the first thing I learnt to fly in Academy STSF Seiben: ::moves inside to the cockpit:: Rue Wydown: ::within a few minutes she's also arrived in the shuttle bay, watches for a moment as the external crew scurry around the shuttle before she enters the shuttle herself:: August Jax Robinson: ::Takes a seat in the back seat::: STSF Seiben: ::powers on the shuttle and continues preflight checks:: ACTION: Meanwhile, down on the planet, both factions are having increasing difficulty calling the Republic back, as well as communicating with their own people to and extent on the planet Rue Wydown: ::does a head count as she enters:: Looks like we're all here. ::nods to Jax and her assistants:: Mr Seiben, let's set course for troubled area, I'd like us to do a careful flyby of the area so we can get the lay of the land. Understood? STSF Seiben: Understood sir ::plots course into the navigational computer:: Rue Wydown: Jax, have you seen anything in those accident reports that might tell us what's going on? August Jax Robinson: Nothing that jumps out to me at first glance... what should I be looking for? Rue Wydown: That's the problem. I'm not sure. They're either attributing these events as sabotage from the other group or something supernatural. We definitely need to rule out the later, and prove definitively whether the former is true or not. Heather Jamieson: :: Trying to clear her mind, relax as the plunge to the surface :: STSF Seiben: ::finishes up pre-flights:: Okay, we're ready to go when you are. August Jax Robinson: maybe we need to scan for a third party... another race starting trouble Heather Jamieson: :: Reading local space reports :: ACTION: Reports continue to come in of shimmering lights, in or around the affected areas of damage and communications issues Rue Wydown: Go ahead, Mr Seiben. ::nods:: STSF Seiben: ::Checks out all the reports of issues around the damage:: Should I compile all the incoming reports and other issues? Filtred by both sides Rue Wydown: You think a third party might be in play? STSF Seiben: ::powers on engines:: +Bridge+ Shuttle to Bridge, requesting departure clearance. STSF_BluRox: Holly> Shuttle, you have clearance August Jax Robinson: it would make sense to me, what is the quickest way to make people fight? set the other side up as a monster STSF Seiben: We have clearance to launch. Taking us out. STSF_BluRox: Holly> I"ll also let them know that you're on the way. Both factions are demanding your presence with their own group first..... think we could clone a few of you all? Rue Wydown: Let's add that to the investigation possibilities then. Rue Wydown: Heather, what are your thoughts on this? STSF Seiben: ::slowly manoeuvres the shuttle out of the shuttle bay towards ACTION: Shimmering apparitions are seen yet again in various locations where both factions have been working on expanding August Jax Robinson: ::;looks over the reports again, incase she missed something::: Heather Jamieson: The factional fighting is the most likely cause...but there could be a third player we don't know yet. Rue Wydown: What could the scientific explanation for these apparitions? STSF Seiben: ::makes way towards the planet and prepares to enter its atmosphere:: Heather Jamieson: Holograms? Other species? Not sure yet Rue Wydown: I'd like you to focus on that. I want to know what causes these things and supernatural causes shouldn't be thrown in. August Jax Robinson: I think we need to get a sample of both races DNA, if there is a third party it will be easier to find them Rue Wydown: How can we get a sample without causing an alarm? Heather Jamieson: No supernatural here.. August Jax Robinson: tell them the truth, it will set you free I have been told STSF Seiben: ::enters the planet's atmosphere and begins a low fly by:: Rue Wydown: Should be able to do that with a scan, instead of a liquid sample. 22. USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING 51710.23 - Season 25 The crew had been briefed on their current mission to Melos 3, and Blu had asked Rue to handle assigning teams to work on trying to discover what was going on. Meanwhile, Blu, not feeling well has retired to her ready room for some tea and rest. BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM STSF_BluRox: :: having drank the tea, has now laid down to let it work and help with the severe migraine:: STSF Seiben: ::working on something:: Rue Wydown: Seiben, have we had contact yet with the local government? August Jax Robinson: ((Curled up tight like on top of the TV Blu?}} STSF_BluRox: (if you've forgotten your assignments, loop back to Rue or check the posted log) Heather Jamieson: :: Reading up on Starfleet's information on the planet and its people :: STSF_BluRox: (lol Jax..... like on that one spot of sunlight on the rug) STSF Seiben: Yes, I've gotten in touch with a representative. He was working on procuring the records for me. August Jax Robinson: {{then scooting over a little as the sun moves}} August Jax Robinson: ::Glances at Seiben:: how many decades of records? STSF Seiben: About a century's worth. I didn't know how far to go. 23. USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING 51710.16 - Season 25 Melos 3 is a small planet located in the Melos star system. Located midway between Darbet and Gaithe, Melos 3 had been left un-colonized for some time as both sides wished to claim, but neither wanted to start a war while applying for Federation membership. Now, with both having become Federation members, a joint colony had been established about 20 years previously, but now reports of strange occurrences, broken machinery and sabotage have surfaced. We are to investigate and put a stop to what we find. (this was from the meeting we were having at the end of the last sim we ran) BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM STSF_BluRox: So, we need to look, see who oversees what, what they export and what they import, and from whom the reports have been sent from. From what I understand, there are several towns spread out along the main continent, so it will be more complicated.:: Looks around at the others to see if she still has their attention of if she had bored them to sleep:: August Jax Robinson: how many people are supposed to he on this planet? STSF Seiben: ::looks around as well:: Heather Jamieson: :: Listening and watching :: STSF_BluRox: Well, the briefing stated that they had started with a small joint colony of about 300 at one point, but in the last 20 years, they've spread out and started several new towns/settlements, and we're guessing with others that have joined from each world, that we're looking at about 500 people STSF Seiben: ::listens:: August Jax Robinson: hmm STSF Seiben: ::nods and makes some mental notes:: Rue Wydown: ::trying to mentally calculate just how many terra forming domes they'd need to maintain that population.:: STSF_BluRox: However, some of the recent 'accidents' have taken a few lives. The security teams have reported they were all 'suspicious and they felt deliberate or some sort of sabotage to prime systems, or at some of the terraforming locations. August Jax Robinson: have we been sent copies of these accident reports? Rue Wydown: This should be interesting. Rumors and finger pointing are involved, I bet? STSF_BluRox: In short, this world has a lot of resources. Both planets were interested and used to fight over who would control this....until they realized it would jeopardize their Federation applications. So, with the help of an arbitor, they peacefully agreed to joint custody of the planet, with rules on how much could be harvested or cleared. Heather Jamieson: What a logistical nightmare. STSF_BluRox: Yes, we'll have to pull them up. Of concern was a failure at a power plant, which caused an explosion and killed several workers. Then food supplies were destroyed...by a roof failure of the location much of the grain waiting to be processed was stored, ruining it all STSF Seiben: I see. I`ll make the necessary arrangements to house them all. STSF_BluRox: The Admiral said that both worlds have filed a grievance against the other, accusing each of trying to kill or frighten the others off, so that they could claim it for their own. So, that's what we're here to determine Heather Jamieson: Is there a third party that would benefit from these two groups fighting? STSF_BluRox: There have been a few others as well, but those were the two that stood out. STSF_BluRox: Again, that is something we are here to investigate August Jax Robinson: ::Sighs:: STSF_BluRox: If Starfleet already knew, we'd not be having to spend the rest of our leave break, being assigned to figure this out STSF Seiben: ::rubs chin:: Coming in completely in the dark, eh? OK Rue Wydown: So, where do we start, folks? Who wants to tackle what? STSF Seiben: (my keyboard was set to French) STSF_BluRox: :: turns looking at Seiben:: Wait...what do you mean you will make arrangements to 'house them all'? STSF Seiben: Sorry, I misheard. I thought we were bringing the colonists up. August Jax Robinson: maybe we can lock them up until someone fesses up STSF_BluRox: We are not bringing 500 colonist up, besides, then if any one was left, they'd claim the place as abandoned for their own world STSF Seiben: ::nods:: STSF_BluRox: I don't believe the brig is big enough to lock up everyone from this world STSF_BluRox: Rue, get me some firm plans from this group please, I need to step out for a moment. Heather Jamieson: Are the people that rough down there? STSF Seiben: I would imagine so, no food or power and everyone's fighting each other... Rue Wydown: Aye, ma'am. ::nods, although the idea of locking up all the colonists in the Republic's brig makes it hard for her to keep from laughing outright:: Heather Jamieson: :: Thinks of her phaser :: Rue Wydown: ::claps her hands together;: Okay folks. Where do you want to start? Who wants to take on what tasks? Heather Jamieson: :: Looks to Jax :: August Jax Robinson: I can get their systems up and running, look over the other stuff and make sure nothing has a trap set up Rue Wydown: Brilliant. ::nods to Jax, then turns to the other two:: And you lot? Heather Jamieson: I can do a sensor log search to see if anyone outside of these two groups are causing these 'accidents' STSF Seiben: I could arrange the delivery of supplies to the colony, food and generators and anything else they need Heather Jamieson: Afraid to say it, but could someone in the Federation itself be manipulating events? Rue Wydown: You know who to talk to get that list? ::making a note on her table on who's going to do what:: Rue Wydown: Ms Jamieson, how would you find that out? August Jax Robinson: ::Makes a few notes on where to start down thereee:: Rue Wydown: And Jax, would you be willing to also take a look at the accident reports from an engineer's point of view? Heather Jamieson: I'd have to do some poking around. The log search is easy, the other is not Heather Jamieson: Not saying it is, but something to consider. STSF Seiben: Hm Rue Wydown: And from a scientific point of view, what sort of poking around are you planning? August Jax Robinson: I can give them a look, but I can only guess with stuff that is Non-Engineering Heather Jamieson: I'll have to ask questions as I do other investigations of scientific interest Heather Jamieson: A bit of social engineering STSF_BluRox: :: in her ready room, rubbing at her forehead, the headaches she is frequented with bothering her again tonight, most likely from not sleeping much during the trial:: STSF Seiben: Social engineering, eh? Heather Jamieson: I'm not dressing in green if that's what you are thinking. STSF Seiben: okay Heather Jamieson: Are we to have armed escorts? Rue Wydown: Armed escorts would be overkill, don't you think? You'd be escalating an already tense situation. Heather Jamieson: Well from the sounds of it we should not be going anywhere alone. STSF Seiben: We'd have security, wouldn't we? Rue Wydown: Seiben, while you're preparing a list of relief needs, why don't you see what you can find out from the adminstrators about the inport/export information. STSF Seiben: Yes, sure. Rue Wydown: We'll have security, but we're not sending in the Marines ::dark look to both Jamieson and Seiben for going way out of bounds:: STSF_BluRox: (clarification to above statement -- it was a food storage location, there are several on the planet, so not totally without food, just tight. Power outages also only affect some of the main areas) STSF_BluRox: :: goes to the replicator and asks for some hot water to perhaps make some tea to help with the headache:: @ Holly> :: materializes a cup of tea and a plate of toast:: Rue Wydown: Jamieson, I want you to also look at the autopsy reports with our CMO and see if these incidents are accidents or deliberate. STSF_BluRox: @ I can get something on my own you know @Holly> Yes, but you are stubborn. And I know you'll feel better once you have some tea to calm that headache down Heather Jamieson: :: nods :: STSF_BluRox: @ Don't be a busybody Holly Rue Wydown: Does everyone have a clear idea of what they're doing? STSF Seiben: Yes sir August Jax Robinson: ::Looks at Seiben:: we might want to see if the same group or race is focused on STSF Seiben: ::nods:: That makes sense Rue Wydown: Oh, good point Jax. ::scribbles in her tablet:: @ Holly> If you'd rather, I can help the crew beam everyone up and let them sleep in your ready room and quarters if you like? STSF_BluRox: @ Someone wants her partition quarantined again? @ Holly> Will's not here, he's the only other one with clearance to do it. So ha. Besides, I just sent a note to get you some help... STSF_BluRox: @ What did you do? Heather Jamieson: This could be family disagreements Rue Wydown: Okay, anything else? Is everyone clear on their tasks/ STSF Seiben: Nothing from me, and yes. ACTION:: Note appears on Rue's padd. Admiral has one of her recurring headaches, and would desperately appreciate if you could help her out with one of your tea blends to help soothe the pain for her. - Sincerely, Holly August Jax Robinson: Candy and coffee then work? Rue Wydown: Whatever it takes to get you psyched up for work. ::grins, slaps the table with enthusiasm:: Alright, let's get to work then. I’ll go and update the Admiral. Heather Jamieson: :: Makes notes in her PADD :: STSF_BluRox: @ Holly, you are not helping my headache. I just want some dark chocolate and darken the room for a few moments to rest. Rue Wydown: ::laughs, moving to the replicator:: STSF_BluRox: Do you mind riding herd on this while I take a brief respite and try to feel a bit better?
