  1. It was hard for me not to start shouting Ezekiel 25:17 in front of either of them.
  2. I just got back from L.A. a couple days ago, where the weather was 80 degrees and no humidity. I come back here, and the heat and humidity hits me like a brick. I also saw Quentin Tarantino at a CD/Movie store, and got Samuel L. Jackson's autograph in a comic book store.
  3. I don't like it when people bash Natalie Portman in Episode III. Seriously, I'd like to see anyone take the line "Anakin, you're breaking my heart!" and not make it sound stupid. Blame the person who wrote the stupid line, not the actor. Hayden Christiansen I simply don't like.
  4. ...vacation All I ever wanted Vacation Had to get away Vacation Meant to be spent alone
  5. Actually, interestingly enough, this earthquake wasn't part of the New Madrid fault zone.
  6. We had a magnitude 5.2 earthquake here yesterday, which, although extremely minor, is rare for this area. Which has sent everyone into an unnecessary frenzy. So the local news people interview a local expert, who I work with, and I happened to be there at the time. Their first question was if the recent rain and flooding had anything to do with it. I was off camera, trying my hardest not to laugh, while he was struggling to keep his face straight on camera. Then the other local news station did a segment on earthquake preparedness, and their advice was to leave the building you are in and head straight for an open area. Makes me wonder what will happen if we ever get a major earthquake.

  8. I've been reading his books since I was 6, and he was always my favorite author. I was sad to hear he passed away, but glad that he could be with us so long. For those who haven't seen it, there's a video of Clarke on youtube, speaking on his 90th birthday.
  9. Memphis. Although the BBQ in Kansas City is great.
  10. Hmmm... Better hope she doesn't steal anything from the set.
  11. Simon Pegg? Great, there's now only a slim hope that I'll like and take this movie seriously. The thought of Simon Pegg in the movie just makes me laugh. The thought of Simon Pegg with a Scottish accent makes me laugh even harder. Don't get me wrong. I like Simon Pegg, and I love Shaun of the Dead. Which is why I won't be able to take him seriously, since he's so funny. So he better do some pretty convincing acting.
  12. It's official. I'm dressing up as one of the Blues Brothers for Halloween. It's kind of a spur of the moment thing, since I decided on it tonight, and I'm going to a costume party tomorrow. I'll save the bologna costume for next year.

  14. Okay, something different. The high schoolers in the next town over from me are officially all idiots. The high school there is big, very big. Pretty much a campus. And a couple days ago it went up in a full fledged riot. It started out with a fight, then a few more started, and finally everyone was beating everyone else up. The police have arrested around 10 students so far (and a couple more after a few small fights broke out a day later). What was the cause of this, you ask? It all started with two students arguing over a donut.
  15. Yessss! I finally know how to be a pirate girl.
  16. Um, something that pops into mind is Spock's death scene in Star Trek II. I saw it on TV a long while back, and all I knew was that it was Star Trek. Even earlier I remember the Ilia probe being scanned in The Motion Picture. But my earliest memory was just a group being beamed down, possibly with some Klingons. That was very, very early in my life. And probably either from TOS, the original movies, or whatever show as on at the time.
  17. ::walks up, ready to get shot:: Oh, you said redheads, not redshirts...
  18. Tricorner hat. Arrrr!
  19. Ditto with red.
  20. Startrek.com has an article saying that they're negotiating to have Anton Yeltin play Chekov. Thus confirming that Chekov actually is in the movie. And I think I'm going to voice my opinion on the whole casting thing. TV actors? Now, I'm probably a little biased, and I know that Nimoy and Shanter were tv actors but...TV actors? I'm all for having lesser known actors, but I'd rather it be a lesser known movie actor then a more well known tv actor (Zachary Quinto). I don't really care, but I don't want to see someone in the movie just because people think he's hot and they saw him on TV. Actually I had reservations about it back when I heard that JJ Abrams was doing it. But I'll continue to hope that it will be good.

  22. I think the security uniforms on Arcadia need to be sparkly.
  23. I have Elite Force 1 for Playstation 2, and it's a pretty entertaining first person shooter. The graphics aren't all that great, but then again it's a very, very early Playstation 2 game.
  24. The 15 living species of the genus Equisetum comprise the plants commonly known as horsetails. The genus name is derived from the Latin equis, meaning horse and seta, meaning bristle, in reference to the coarse black roots of Equisetum fluviatile which resemble a horse's tail ( Hauke, 1993 ). The horsetails range in size from the diminutive E. scripoides (stems averaging 12.9 cm tall and 0.5 - 1.0 mm diameter) (Hauke, 1963) to the giant horsetails, E. giganteum and E. myriochaetum, reaching heights of 8 or more meters (Hauke, 1963) and stem diameters of perhaps 4 cm (see "How large can giant horsetails become"). Equisetum species are vascular plants which reproduce sexually by means of spores which are borne on cones. Hence, together with the other spore-bearing vascular plants, the Lycophytes (club mosses), Psilophytes (whisk ferns) and Pterophytes (true ferns), Equisetum species are classified as pteridophytes. The genus Equisetum is the only remaining representative of the once abundant and diverse subdivision Sphenophytina. However, recent phylogenetic studies suggest that perhaps should be classified within the true ferns ( Pryer et al., 2001 ). Remarkably, Equisetum has a history stretching back to the Cretaceous and possibly as far back as the Triassic ( Hauke, 1978 ). As a result, Equisetum may perhaps be the oldest living genus of vascular plants ( Hauke, 1963 ).
  25. Actually, if you leave off the corrupt part, I just described my local police perfectly.
