  1. Ki'rok had returned to the scene of the crime..well, to Ten-Forward, at least. He sat alone in the corner staring out at the passing stars. They were beautiful. He was amazed how he could have gone so long without truly appreciating that. But there was so much that he was starting to appreciate...tastes, smells..sounds.

He sighed. It was a shame it all had to come at such an inopportune time. He slowly tore his gaze from the stars and looked down at the PADD he had been working on. It had been only 10 minutes or so since he had left medical but he had completed a rough outline of the past few weeks. The review board would not really care about all the details..just the matter of what happened with the Priority One message as well as the incident with the admiral..he felt confident he would be able to explain the Priority One incident...the other...well..that was another story.

Rok had basically interrogated himself. The end result reading more like something from a medical journal that a personal log...

He reviewed the excerpt... "Leading up to the events around and concerning the Mission to New Bajor...I had been experiencing severe headaches as well as irrational mood swings..which..for a Vulcan..can be very embarrasing and traumatic. I went to Dr Maxwell who ascertained I was experiencing some sort of chemical imbalance due, in part, to my betazed DNA. He devised some medical concoction that was supposed to relieve the pressure and normalize my "whatever levels". The medication was a success..however, it was not without side effects..the most obvious being an inability to control what was spoken aloud...another words..if I thought it...I said it. I had just taken a dose before coming on duty on the bridge. As you can imagine, this led to some awkward situations..not the least of which was my response to the Priority One message. It was my intention to transfer the call into the RR, and explain our current situation and why it might take us a bit longer than usual. However, with the scientists frantic demeanor, as well as my sensing other emotions (although, I was not aware that was what was happening at the time) it led to my shutting the comm off. The situation, as you know, grew worse, and nearly the entire crew fell ill. While I was apparently immune to the virus...either it alone..or in combination with the medication I was taking..or possibly some effects from the ION storm...caused a rather dramatic shift in my personality. I am no longer taking the medication..I no longer have any headaches...I do have difficulty expressing myself at times but I do not feel that is relavent to this inquiry. Dr Maxwell can verify most of these facts. I do not believe he was aware of the severity of the side effects due to his being..overworked and frankly...infected by the virus like the rest of the crew"

Ki'rok took a sip of the hot chocolate he had ordered. The last line was not that difficult to write....." As for the incident involving the rescue of the Admiral...I was still on the medication..however, I had adapted to its effects and grew able to control my outbursts...I was in control of my faculties and followed orders concerning the rescue operation..however, I will not hide behind those orders as it was never my intention to leave my CO. I have no defense. I ask that the board look at my record as a whole before making a summary judgement."

Rok lifted the cup to his lips once more and returned his gaze to the stars..."They are truly remarkable" he said to noone inparticular. He only hoped he would still be able to ride among them after this was all said and done.

The stars streamed by...Ten Forward was all quiet...so Rok sat...and waited for the enivitible comm to come...

  2. Rok sat at the bar in Ten-Forward..eating his toast-francais`..when he inexplicably felt this overwhelming emotion. A single "ugh" escaped his lips before he could get the emotion under control. It was...intense...a feeling of longing...hopelessness. Whatever it was..it was not at all appealing. He looked up from his toast to see Cookie staring across the room at something going on behind Rok. He turned a bit in his seat and saw the Commmander speaking with Link, who had his back to Rok.

Now it was very impolite to eavesdrop on another crewmans conversation..however, if the Arbazan was in some sort of distress, it could have serious implications..even on ship security..which was his area of concern. The "Beta-Vulcans" ears perked slightly as he turned his head ever so slightly to hear what was going on behind him.

..."Im not sure a review board is going to see it that way.." said the Commander. A cold chill ran down Roks spine at the mention of Review Board. "So it has begun..." said Rok.

The Admiral, having returned to duty, had begun reveiwing all that happened in her absence. Mr. Links little Genetic experiment had no doubt topped the charts...however, there would soon enough come his turn to try and explain why he had seemingly ignored a Priority One signal from New Bajor. He had just finally felt like he was one of the crew..his new emotions causing minor problems at times but for the most part he felt...at ease with his shipmates...everyone except for the Admiral...he could never shake that nightmare he had about her punching him in the nose...but that was another matter, entirely.

"...but you didn't get an OK through the doctor?..." Commander Kwai continued her interrogation of Mr Link. Suddenly, Rok remembered..." an OK from the Doctor.....Ive got to speak with Doc Maxwell..."

Rok nodded to Cookie and slowly turned..keeping his back to the Commander. He got out of Ten Forward as Fast as he could going as slow as possible to prevent it looking like he was in a hurry and being detained. :o

Rok sighed "Please, Doc....I need a medical excuse..."

  3. Uggggh, y'see, that's why I should just stay quiet in the background!!

Yes, you are absolutely correct with the time, both Republic and Manticore are at 11:00 PM ET. I was just following up on Ki'rok's e-mail where he said 10 (Central Time, eh Ki'rok?) Thanks for keeping me honest, Seiben.

Sorry Big Guy..I was talking about the Academy..since Mr Jones hasnt graduated :o

But if it makes you feel better.....Sure Central Time is great... :D

  4. Ive been haunting the boards for the past hour or so, checking out the various ships. Wow. Choices.  :o

At first glance, Ive narrowed it down to the following: USS Hood, USS Republic, and USS Manticore.

And I know for fact I will play a Caitian. Gotta love the kitties.

Ive also checked out the rules, Academy Sim tips, Academy schedules. So, hope to be in a academy sim soon.

well..at least you have a species narrowed down to one...all fine ship choices..really depends on simming style and era preference...

One thing, though...If you choose one of my posts...the republic..I recommend not referring to caitians as kitties....(the CO is Caitian..and prone to fits of of clawdom when provoked) the admiral might make you her own personal scratching post :D

Just take your time and learn as mush as possible...sounds like you are on your way already...

  5. Rok was getting aggrevated. He had just finished defending Holly to the Captain and Hans...and now..she was holed up in the Holodeck...doing Shaka Ri only knows to the Arbazan. As high strung as Link was..he did not have a "warm and fuzzy" about how this would turn out.

He had gone through every security override he knew..and the doors were still securely fastened shut. Apparently transporter power had also been diverted...clever girl. He had finally gave uyp trying to get in and commed Will to see if he could possibly reason with Holly..since he did not appear to be getting in anytime soon.

Rok sighed and slid to the floor..unable to access the holodeck. He passed time waiting for help or a warning from Holly against trying to interfere by flipping some isolinear chips into the air like an old coin.

"This time"....thought Rok..." she may just go too far.........."
