a comment on that huff, more ensigns is great, more people to scrub down the mess hall, plasma manifolds, ect...You think that's only reserved for Ensigns???? :D ::shakes head:: Surely you have not been in my department opf late. :)

Tribbles are noble creatures worthy of our adoration. :D
-
And I have no problem with helping anyone here in any way that I can.Note to self: Hit up Webmaster for college tuition.
-
Hmmmm, if you're a newbie by starting in '94 what does that make me -- starting in '99??Dac
Don't be ashamed of the class of '99 :)
All those old ones want to make you feel bad...just remind them that their characters will die first (from old age of course...not academy mishap) :D

My prayers go out to the families of the victims of today's crash. Let us never grow desensitized of the loss of human life, especially when it's our own countrymen. Tradgedy is a reminder of just how short our lives are on this Earth, and really should put our priorities of life into perspective.

Romulans are great. I personally would like to see a full Romulan sim added to the fleet in the future as we expand. When exactly do we get our first tribble sim...I mean we would only need two to start one, provided they were opposite genders.
-
This is to see if anyone objects to having a RomulanHey there,
Having a Romulan character very much depends on the particular sim and the time period of that sim. On one sim, a Romulan might be considered an enemy to the Federation. On Aegis we've had a couple Romulans in the past because the station itself was built after the Dominion war by the Federation and its allies (Romulans, Klingons, Ferengi, The Beatles, etc.).
Hope this helps,
-
Also, just to serve as a FACT..... ::looks over at GromVik and nods:: Engineering, by far, has the most control. We can even turn off your shoe shiner, Dac! :DWhoa whoa whoa HD! Don't bring me into your scuffles with Dac! I fear the shoes! Oh how I tremble!
:o

TIME.. I think that i will stick with TAC and CENG !Don't let this get out...but Engineers reign supreme over all other officers. ::ducks::
-
Don't feel bad...cadets in the academy have a 5% chance of survival, and if you do the math, that's one in twenty sims. :o I can't tell you the amount of times I've been in a ship that's had its fate doomed. :D

Hey there,
It's me again with another suggestion to keep our GMs and Webmaster busy (like you need help right?). Not all of our sims have websites, unfortunately, so many prospective simmers cannot get a feel for what the sim is all about. On other forums I've seen little promotional write-ups, and I think it would be helpful for our sims if we had links to sim advertisements. I think this would be especially helpful on the "upcoming events" section of the STSF.net main page.
My cent (The IRS took the other),

Welcome to STSF Trek Fan!!!! :o
-
Hey everyone, this message is more intended for the STSF brass, but I'm sure people would like to put in their 2 cents.
Star Trek in general finds it's largest fan base in the United States, nevertheless there are many fans outside of the United States and its timezones. Within the last few days I've met fans from countries such as China (Hong Kong), Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Serbia, to name a few.
I know that STSF is nowhere near large enough to support sims that cater to different time zones, but I was wondering if it were possible to make this website more international friendly. One of the biggest helps would be an international time converter of some sort. Many international Trek enthusiats that I have met have trouble calculating what time it would be in their country should they want to join STSF.
The point is, Startrek.com is directing many people from both inside and outside of the US to this website. Perhaps there is more we can do to be more international friendly. :o
My two cents,
GromVik

I'd say with many multiple screen names we've got around 65-75 people participating...which is still really awesome considering STSF's first birthday is still months off. :o

Hey there,Well things aren't that bad...high of 58 and low of 43. But I mean this is Florida damnit!

Features
Norway class vessels were designed for purposes of adaptability and versatility rather than sheer power and strength demonstrated by sister classes, Akira and Steamrunner. The USS Pandora's Box is designed so that specialized add-ons can be quickly removed or added at any Federation dry dock. Although the USS Pandora's Box does not carry any add-on, it has the capability of adding a tow plate, like on the original Ptolemy class, an extra warp nacelle, a runabout docking and service bay, self-contained laboratory suites, an extra weapons pod, or a high powered sensor module.
Like the Defiant and Saber classes, Norway class vessels are highly maneuverable. The difference lies in the hull structure, as Norway class vessels are classified as medium cruisers. Internally, the levels of computer automation have increased. Norway class vessels can function with less than 200 crew members, where normally a vessel of the Norway's size would take 600. Other advances that come standard are bioneural circuitry, an EMH system, and the latest tactical and sensor systems. Norway class vessels are generally suited for any role that Star Fleet asks.
Norway Background Information
With the Akira, Steamrunner, and Saber classes well underway by the late 2340s, Star Fleet felt it had solved its deficiency in combat vessels, but realized it had left out the important areas of science and diplomacy. In 2353, Star Fleet requested a new class to solve these problems, the Norway class. In its original planning it was to have a 50% armor reduction and the addition of two science labs, plus the addition of ambassador quarters and a large conference hall to be set up. The prototype was completed in 2361, and by 2366, as many as 50 vessels had been churned out by Star Fleet.
With their efficiency and low maintenance, Norway class vessels were called upon in both Wolf 359 and the Dominion war. As of 2379, 300 vessels had been produced in total with 224 lost. 76 remain in service to this date serving various roles. Some have been refitted with a much more powerful arsenal, while others continue in the role they were designed for, diplomacy and science.
Star Fleet's Special Refit of the Norway Class (2377)
After the Dominion War, Star Fleet realized the adaptability of Norway class vessels. As a result, more than thirty were refit with a greater armament and the latest technology. The negative side was a 60% downsize in the original scientific enhancements. The positives were greater maneuverability and strength. The USS Pandora's Box completed its special refit on November 7, 2377, and like many of its class were assigned as support vessels to stations in potentially volatile areas. USS Pandora's Box was assigned to Sky Harbor Aegis on March 23, 2378, the same date when the first pylon of Sky Harbor Aegis became functional.
