At the time, his family was living in the tropical Degal region near the equator. After the Occupation, he and his brother were sent to one of the many orphanages through out the planet as both his parents were killed during the Cardassians withdrawl from the planet. The two were soon taken in by a local Vedek, Vedek Kital when they were 12 (2372.) When the Dominion War ended, he was just over 16 years of age…and anxious to join the Federation. After passing his entrance exams, he was admitted in 2377 at 17. He showed an aptitude for tactical and ground combat and was placed in the Marine track. He graduated 34th in his class in 2381. His initial posting was at a Marine base in Beta Ranor. He spent some three years there, working his way up to Second Lieutenant. He was then posted to the Achanis sector where the Federation was aiding a local populace quell a war with a neighboring species. He distinguished himself during the Achanian Campaign and earned the rank of Marine Captain. Following the successful completion of Achanis in 2387, he was tapped to lead the 108th Marine Battalion, stationed at Outpost 47. When the Federation entered the Romulan Civil war in 2391, the 108th was transferred to the USS Aida, which was under the command of Captain Sheng-Ji Marish. Korix lead the 108th into the Battle of ch’Revellion. As the war continued, the 108th participated in seven major battles including the Battle of Te’Kor, where the entire Marine presence was nearly obliterated by Tal’Shiar forces. It was here that now Lt. Major Vaos nearly lost his life. Following Te’Kor, Korix made a recovery, but well after the end of hostilities in 2393. Once recovered, Korix was reassigned to the 75th Marine Battalion, which monitored trade routes in Sector 221-H along the Danteri and Xenexian boarder, he served as the XO of his battalion and was promoted to the rank of Major shortly after joining. In 2397, he was transferred to the USS Agincourt’s 139th Marine Battalion for a brief assignment before being promoted to Lt. Colonel and being assigned tot he USS Aida as Battalion Commander.
