CAMELOT STATION: Background

Camelot Station is the space-borne element of Starbase Avalon in the Avalon-Tintagel system, serving to support Federation, Klingon, and Romulan fleets in Gamma Quadrant operations. Although situated outside Dominion space, the facility operates with full sanction (and occasional cooperation) of the region's ascendant power. During conflicts with the Hundred and Scorpiad, it proved to be a valuable base of operations, defensive screen, and repair facility.

An Alexandria-class facility, Camelot Station was assembled on-site from segments pre-constructed and towed from Federation space. The class itself is comprised of five radial rings of varying size, connected by a central shaft - a total of 89 accessible decks. Each ring serves a dedicated purpose: Administration (A), Battle (B), Central ©, Docking (D), and Engineering (E). The station is powered by eight Leeding-Kloratis fusion reactors and boasts drydocks capable of simultaneous repair and refurbishment of up to six medium-sized spacecraft. Larger vessels utilize a free-floating drydock berthed nearby.

The Akira-class starship Excalibur (NCC-2004-C) currently operates out of Camelot Station. The station sustains the remaining Alpha Fleet as well as its own support ship, the Defiant-class escort Reliant (NCC-71864). Romulan and Klingon ambassadors are assigned diplomatic wings on the station and conduct their fleet operations from onboard. This has been parallelled by facilities provided to the Dominion and their rebellious counterparts, the Hundred. In addition, the Scorpiad maintains a minimal diplomatic presence, with one battlecruiser based in-system.

CAMELOT STATION: Cartography

Camelot Station resides in synchronous orbit above the fourth planet in the Avalon-Tintagel system. The fourth and fifth planets are a trojan pair, orbitting a common point as they orbit their central star. This planetary pair includes the misty, M-class Avalon itself and the shrouded, N-class Tintagel. The central star (FCG 92649A) is a typical white main sequence star (F8V), although it has a light-blue companion star (A0II) orbiting at a distance of 300AU. The system includes six non-terrestrial planets. The inner hot zone contains three worlds: a molten B-class, a hellish Y-class, and a cratered C-class. The outer planets include a glaciated P-class and two J-class giants, the larger with rings. The Avalon system lies some 40 light years "south-southeast" of the Idran-Bajoran wormhole terminus. Prior Dominion surveys of the system indicate that it includes no remarkable mineral deposits or resources, nor any indication of inhabitants.

During its assembly and first two years of operation, the station was positioned at the LeGrange point (L1) between the trojan planetary pair. With the establishment of an Allied colony on the planet Avalon (see Avalon Base, below), the station was moved to provide orbital defenses, allow transporter transit, and permit energy transfers.

Camelot Station has five rings, connected by a central hub with 89 accessible decks. Seven additional levels within the fusion plant can be reached only by Jeffries tube.

A-RING: Decks 1 - 8
The Administration Ring houses many of the station’s primary command functions and support. The Command Center is the uppermost deck, a secure, transporter-shielded level from which station operations are conducted. Executive offices in the deck below are accessible via port and starboard staircases. A wide, aft staircase provides access to the staff briefing room and the adjoining Main Conference Room, dominated by the central "Round Table" 3-D display.

The existence of this facility is unknown to all but a handful of officers. Because of special construction materials and its location between fusion reactors, it cannot be scanned and is not accessible by transporter. Communication from inside Deck 90 is discouraged, but can be accommodated only through dedicated wall units. Access is provided by secure turbolift passthrough, requiring biometric ID and voicecode.]

Ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem

By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee." ~Jules, Pulp Fiction
