Winston Chronicles: Mark Winston Psychological Evaluation

==Addendum to Personnel File==

==Mark Winston==

==Tranquility City Guardian Applicant for Full Status==

Guardian Headquarters

Tranquility City

Medical Division

Department of Psychiatry

Office of the Director

2420.11.26

Subject is human male, present designation is Mark Winston, no evidence of previous names or aliases. Subject’s age is 20 standard earth years, verified via DNA analysis; no apparent physical disabilities.

Subject was observed over a period of six months, the purpose being initial, medial, and final evaluations for admittance to Tranquility City Guardian Force.

The initial interview gave a baseline evaluation as well as determination of psychological readiness for basic training. Results and full report available Section I:1a.

Initial observations were conducted both in the classroom and during training exercises, in the presence of instructors and when left on his own. Results and complete documentation available Section I:2a, 2b.

The final evaluation was conducted in a number of areas of Tranquility City Guardian Headquarters wherein a number of stressors were introduced. The subject had no prior knowledge. All situations were staged.

  • Stressor One
    • Objective: Assess the trainee’s reaction to massive attacks by unknown assailants.
    • Setting: mockup tactical operations room with instructor/trainers watching a bogus real-time feed of Nausicaan attacks on settlements. Believing the attack was real, the subject responded within normal stress levels and exhibited appropriate restraint when told he could not participate in defense/rescue/recovery efforts.

    [*]Stressor Two:

    • Objective:Assess the trainee’s ability to absent himself from personal ties and emotions when the greater good is at risk.
    • Setting: Mentor Jiles Benson engaged in a staged interrogation by his peers. The subject was told that his mentor/senior partner had been accused of various crimes. The subject was allowed to watch the staged interrogation via the observation room. Subject reacted with initial distress and unbelief within normal parameters. He reacted above normal levels for experienced personnel but within the norm for his age and experience. He displayed appropriate restraint and admitted understanding the need to purge the Guardians of anyone who did not adhere to the high ethical standards set by Marshall Amanda Savoy.

    [*]Stressor Three:

    • Objective: Assess the trainee’s ability to seek justice no matter what the species.
    • Setting: Subject was allowed to watch, via the observation room, the staged interrogation of a Nausicaan wrongly accused of crimes. Initially the subject expressed mixed emotions but, without prompting from others in the observation room, gradually expressed distress that the suspect had been wrongly accused, to the point of asking why no one had intervened on behalf of the “obviously innocent” suspect.

The final evaluation was made in the office of Maxwell Symanck, MD, who observed the subject as they watched security footage of the attack on the subject’s home, its destruction, and the death of his father. Subject remained outwardly calm while showing evidence of latent emotion within normal parameters. Full evaluation attached to this document.
