  3. Re days of sand, sand and more sand. Sand in her shoes, sand in her pack, even sand all over her tasteless, hard-as-rock rations. Dharvanek figured there was na much to see in the desert except the occasional shadow of some local critter, so she kept on walking... and walking... and walking... She had na idea how long it has been since she was dropped in this wasteland. She was sure the boredom was killing a fair amount of brain cells. So everything was tuned out as she proceeded to remember the few interesting things that happened so far. -------------- Daydream starting here ----------- .... What time is it? Where am I? Suddenly memories of the previous days flooded back as they always did in the early mornings when everything seemed incomprehensible. Images flashes through her mind, the jump, the parachute na opening, hours of time (na to mention brain-cell) killing..... When Dharvanek opened her eyes, the sun was well up into the sky. She could practically taste the dry, humid air on her tongue. Then, the pangs of hunger. Must get up... and get to food.... What’s this? I’m... buried in sand?!! She scrambled up to her feet, spitting out sand and frantically brushing it off her uniform. Note to Self: find some other place to camp out next time.... Only io corner of her pack was sticking out from the sand, otherwise she may have never found it. The inside was filled to the brim with more of that cursed sand, she had to turn it upside down and flail it around until all the sand came out. What hardtack she had was so dry, she thought it would crumble into dust if she actually touched it. Miraculously, the hardtack held together. It was sandy though, Dharvanek tried to brush off as much as she could, but it never came off completely. But She was na the kind of rihan to be choosy, any food was good food. She took a bite thinking it would grind up her teeth, strangely, it had a hint of sweetness to it. Then she glimpsed a flash of color near where her pack used to be. She scooped up some sand and uncovered some type of plant... dripping some... powder or something. On closer inspection it resembled tiny sugar crystals, was this what she had been eating? Uh-oh. I hope its na poisonous... She extended a finger and brushed off some of the substance. Taking a taste, she thought: huh, I did na yy’a. So she shook the spiny-leafed plant until all the “sugar” fell into her ration container. If the hardtack insisted on tasting of dirt, at least they’ll be sugar flavored dirt. --------End Daydream--------- She climbed up a sand dune, struggling to na slip back down. When she got to the top, she saw... trees? In the desert? Yet, there they were, right in front of her eyes. Where there is plant life, there is water. Heh, I am na so incompetent after all. To see far, au must be high. I am good! She grinned as she made her way up the closest tree. With some effort, Dharvanek pulled herself onto a branch, her legs dangling off the sides. She had to squint and shield her eyes from the bright sun. She saw something in the distance. What was that? Dharvanek could make out the faint outline of a person, who was.... getting shorter by the minute.... And then... she knew. It was Arrain R’Tor from Engineering, the same io in the REF bay. Dharvanek took a sharp intake of breath, the Arrain was sinking in something.... should I leave her there? Dharvanek did na want to confront any of...those people. But alas... she released her breath, maybe she will na recognize me, I will pray to the Elements on the way there. Just to make sure. She slid down the trunk of the tree and hurried in that direction. But na too hurried of course.
  4. :D somehow that happens to me a lot.
  5. Personal Log Erein Verelan Dharvanek RES Talon Stardate 0704.07 According to ship’s time, it was night. Verelan Dharvanek was still in Main Dheno, sitting at her desk. She rather liked this setup, the position of her desk placed her near the back corner. In low lighting it would seem as if the chair was empty. But na, na, she did na plan to do anything with this piece of information. It was merely an observation, to be pushed away to the back of her mind. For future reference. She had arrived on the Talon only a few days ago, she would need to know more about this ship and its crew. After all, a dheno officer must be well informed to perform their function effectively. The desk suited her right now, because she knew her superiors would be resting for the trip tommorow and na one will notice her here. She stayed behind to see if she could catch even a sliver of information about what happened in the REF bay. All her superiors have spoken little of it, and everyio else can na stop talking about it. After a while, she still heard nothing and was getting tired. Dharvanek looked around to see if those packs were still there. Which was the io that had water in it? Na finding the packs either, she decided this “plan” was a lost cause and that she would worry about it tommorow. She would need her strength for survival training. Dharvanek could laugh at it, Ne’Arrain tr'Vosh probably thought she had na idea what he was talking about. In actuality, she was trying to commit to memory the contents of those packs and was na at all listening to him. Na matter, time for sleep hnah. The mysteries of the universe can be solved tommorow. ------------- The next day, Erein Dharvanek woke up tired, really tired. All that for nothing.... She literally had to drag herself into a standing position and stumbled around for a large portion of the morning. She went into Dheno and drifted off to sleep again, but was suddenly awakened by the loud noise that came from her communicator. Although her eyes were open by the time everyio was doing final preparations, she barely paid attention to what the Khre’Riov was saying. Khellian... something. Must be the local wildlife. Like a hunter she said, ie... that was it. As everyio filed into the RACs, io thing Dharvanek did remember was the faces of those in the REF bay. She faced the opposite direction and stood there a while until the Daise Dheno came by. Then noticing that she was among the last, Dharvanek quickly ducked into a nearby RAC, seeing that there was na one she recognized, Dharvanek relaxed a little and pulled out that ISD to begin her reading. or maybe just sleep some more.... P.S. This is me covering for all those ... that came out where the dialogue was supposed to be during Thursday. So you can't blame me for not talking. :D P.S.S. Actually in response to Vosh's log. :D
  6. okay, I didn't realize there was a word limit, I'm sorry you went to all that trouble. Instead can I please have nothing? Until I think of a new title. Thank you :D
  7. Name: Verelan Dharvanek Rank: Ne'Arrain --- Age: 22 Gender: Female Place of Birth: Agurthan Colony, Venturius sector. Parents: --- Di’ranov: Taev irThalek’Kar Dharvanek Ri’nanov: D’Elon t’Liorae-sihaer -No Siblings- ---------- With both parents stationed on the Agurthan outpost, Verelan was born and raised on the colony world. Her father and mother were engineering personnel, dedicated to maintaining the workings of Galae vessels. They often had to work strenous hours and had ever-changing schedules, family time constituted of one and a half minutes in the early morning. There was no time at all to spend on recreation, even if it was with their only child. She spent all her time either outdoors or on a terminal. One of her favorite pastimes is hiking, which was not too suprising since the whole planet is covered with vast woodlands and hills. Apparently, open country and fresh air is good for you. Verelan grew into a rather athletic rihanha. There was much military traffic in the area. Patrols, ships coming in for repairs and more often, crewmen on shore leave. Sometimes while trekking through the woods, she’d encounter military officers who came to camp in the wilderness. Verelan resided in the civilian section of the Agurthan military base. Her parents being engineers, she learned how to operate a computer terminal very early in life. Of course most of the content on the local nets were open-access propaganda vids, and Verelan grew up watching these every day. Thus, her mind was filled with ideals of honor and glory. Other who know her well would say she was the perfect balance between agression and calm. Her superiors would say she was a passive Rihan without a heart for battle. She has an eager-to-please attitude that makes her nervous around superiors, and when she panics, Dharvanek's mental capabilities "regresses." (meaning she turns into one of those annoying bobble-heads that just nod a lot) Anyone on Agurtha is either military or related to military. Base life was full of restricted access facilities, the people Verelan saw most was security. Everything from on-base guards to Galae officers, seeing them at work is what inspired her to become one herself. Also very interested in weapons, she would lose track of time just looking at them, happilly oblivious to the rest of the quadrant. Her family does not have a long standing military-type lifestyle, nor are they well known. Many of her relatives are civilians with varying interests, so they are not all engineers either. Although she was intrigued by many forms of unarmed fighting, there were no such specialty schools on Agurthan. All of her security skills are basic manuvers learned at the Galae Retor. Many of her instructors observed raw potential, but no sign of formal discipline. It was only through displays of determination that she managed to graduate Retor, they sent her away in hopes of providing opportunities to acquire better command skills. ------------ Service Record: Date of graduation - 0405.20 Posting Confirmation - 0406.13 Arrival on RES Talon - 0406.17 Promotion to Ne'Arrain - 0408.08
  8. :P er, no WAY.
  9. porter
  10. Well, you could just look at the Schedule. it list the time in PST right under ET. Hope this helps  or you could just subtract 3.
  11. And I post the short, incomprehensible kind
  12. This the first log I've ever written, I did try to put it in understandable paragraphs. >>>>>>>>>>> Personal Log Erein Verelan Dharvanek RES Talon Stardate 0406.22 Today was Erein Dharvanek’s first day rhae the warbird Talon, when she arrived in the designated quarters, she only had time to shove all her belongings into a corner. The crew was being called into the main REF bays for... something. Whatever this was, it did seem urgent. It would na do her any good to be late on the first day, so Dharvanek managed to find the REF bay by following various crewmen that were on their way to the same destination. ------------------------------- Two prisoners, supposedly accused of treachery, were secured against a post. I did na recognize them at first, but slowly realized who they were as they were called forward. I stood at the sides with the rest of the crowd, but perhaps I should na have gotten that close to the front. The Enarrain not only recognized and acknowledged me but also presented me with a whip, one that would be used on Arrain R'Tor Bat'ok and Arrain Shibae t'Aehjae. I did na think I would be given such an... interesting assignment after only io day aboard. I had na thoughts on Arrain R’Tor, but distinctly remember the other Arrain’s name on the roster and also the fact that it was listed with the names of other dhenos. Arrain t’Aehjae was first, I was hesitant from the beginning, convinced that she would someday recognize my name or my face when she recovered. I proceeded slowly and was careful na to speak. Nevertheless, it was an order. I would na give anyio reason to doubt my loyalty to the Empire. I administered the lashes as commanded and kept out of the maenak’s way. I am somewhat relieved that the Khre’Riov has decided to address the punishment of Daise N’Dak personally, or at least handed that duty to some other rihan. If for some reason he was returned to his former position in the future, he can na hold those lashes against me. Although I have na met him yet, it seems as if Erein tr’Vosh is to be my superior for the time being, though in current conditions he may na remain an Erein for long. Those who had already received punishment were carried off to Medical, I did na bother to ask what would happen to them there. ------------------------------- No doubt someio would be monitoring the systems, perhaps even a censor who would be screening through everyio’s logs... perhaps that is also why they punished those in the REF bay. It would be wise to store this particular log in an ISD instead, and she was already thinking of a good hiding place for it. Dharvanek’s thoughts drifted to a conversation she had in Academy, between herself and an older cadet..... about a tale that was going around campus. It concerned a new, fresh off training, (and of course) un-named Erein, who “happened” to anger his un-named superior shortly after his arrival on an un-named ship. After that, he never had another uneventful day for the rest of his career in the Galae. But, It turned out to be a rather fortunate day for Dharvanek, she was posted rhae a menkha ship... maybe. It was hard to tell after only io day. At least Khre’Riov t’Rexan was merciful enough to offer them bitebars. If Elements be willing, she might na even see them when she reported in for that physical.
  13. Thanks for your help everybody, I hope I can do it better next time. and :P Darrik, I come to AA every Friday, see ya there. :D
  14. first off, I'd like to apologize to the people that were in Thursdays academy, for ruining your academy.... that was my second time being XO and I'm just not very good at it. I'm confused here, can someone please explain to me what it is an XO does? I know Moose said somewhere in his tips that XOs do administrative work... but that's still a little fuzzy... if someone can help out it'd be great, thanks :P
  15. wow Moose, I love your tips, I wouldn't have graduated without them :P
