The curriculum also covers an enhanced understanding of shuttle maintenance and inspection allowing the cadet to assist in standard care of vessels and perform expedited field repairs. Theory of small craft command and control is also covered and prepares the cadet for a leadership role in managing multiple small craft (CAG/Shuttle Ops Specialist). Minor: Interdisciplinary training - First Responder This Minor pulls from the engineering and medical divisions to train the cadet in basic damage control and medical triage. As security personnel are often first on scene when a crisis emerges this training can allow the officer to mitigate damage while the crisis is still in its incipient stages. Engineering coursework covers topics such as fire, hazard emission, hull breach, and EVA training. Medically, Cadets are trained in the basic application of medical treatment and triage techniques and have limited clearance to medical equipment. Cadets are also trained in standard sickbay protocol so they may efficiently assist in times of medical crisis.
