About This Folder

Not so long ago in a galaxy far, far away ... Ziggy Stardust lost his face and a new foe was uncovered.

Actually, it was back in 1999, which does make it sound like a long time ago. The crew of the USS Arcadia-D embarked on a very long saga which introduced the Coalition, a government of planets founded by scientists. They were technologically more advanced than the Federation, but we also much colder, and had little regard for less advanced societies. We were just laboratory animals to them; inferior species to be used in their experiments. For example, they were willing to destroy a entire civilized world simply to conduct a weapons test.

The Coalition was named long before George Jr. and the War on Iraq, so any political inferences are non-existant. At that point, all the good group names were taken (Federation, Empire, Dominion ... ) Coalition was all the thesaurus had left.

Somewhere along the way, I decided to take a little break from hosting. Moose became an ambassador and was sent out of the quadrant and I started developing some of my NPCs, most notably the Vulcan phychiatrist Dr. Virax, and the eccentric Trill Cdr Alces.

But Moose and the Coalition never made it to the shelf. Instead, some of the other NPCs went with him, forming the Federation's Delegation to Paktar. We continued the story as an email spin-off to the live Arcadia sim, but it eventually lost momentum due to demands of real life and of the live game. The Delegation was left dangling off a very large cliff with many loose ends to tie up.

Soon, the USS Arcadia-E will make it's own journey to Paktar. In an effort to clue in the new players to what's happened, and to remind the old players what they actually did, I'll be posting old logs and summaries to lay the groundwork for the saga that is about to unfold.
