Personal History

Simon was born aboard his mother's ship, the U.S.S. Phoenix, where she now holds the position of chief science officer. Shortly after his birth, however, he was sent to Earth to stay with his paternal grandparents and his older brother Per in Stockholm, Sweden. Both his grandparents are retired Starfleet Officers. The relationship with his 11 years older brother has always been problematic at best. Per was the model son, always having good grades and finally applying and being admitted into Starfleet Academy. He never had any understanding for his younger brother.

The first time Simon's father saw his son was during a short shore leave when Simon was already 2 years old.

Being born into a family of dedicated Starfleet Officers Simon was expected to carry on the family tradition. But already early in his life it became clear that he did not plan to live up to his family's expectations. He was constantly in trouble which led his grandparents to send him to a boarding school in Kiruna when he was only 11 years old. He defied this attempt to be disciplined and was expelled in his second year after spending a considerable amount of time in detention. After this he went back to live with his grandparents and finished his schooling in Stockholm.

He graduated from Anders-Celsius-Highschool in Stockholm with only average grades. During his time in highschool he was suspended from school three times for lack of discipline and not showing up for lessons repeatedly.

Simon's preferred career would have been that of a nurse in a civilian hospital. Knowing this decision would put him even more at odds with his family he decided to compromise and apply for Starfleet Academy to become a non-commissioned officer. Due to his grades and previous record this attempt was only successful because his grandfather pulled a few strings.

At the Academy he enrolled in the nursing programme and achieved additional qualification as an EMT. Again, his grades were only average.

During his Academy time he, again, came close to being expelled for lack of discipline. Only thanks to an understanding instructor was he allowed to stay. He finally graduated and was assigned to a Starfleet hospital in San Fransisco. After half a year he requested transfer to a ship. The request was granted and Simon was assigned to the U.S.S. Reaent NCC-3345-G.
