  1. Jaxa Sat at her desk for a brief second after Kansas quickly took her leave. Poor thing to have something like this sprung on her after 24 years of not knowing or wanting to know her mother. Jaxa knew the next 60 days would be trying to say the least. The counselor at the center where Alison was being held had told her as much as she could without violating her doctor-patient confidentiality. Jaxa brought up the message once again and read it before replying to the doctor in charge of Alison's file. After reviewing the information you sent me I informed Kansas of this upcoming release. The news was not taken well, as to be expected, however, I will do what I can to try and reason with her for a brief communication with Alison. I will give Kansas some time to absorb the information and then will try and reason with her. Jaxa finished up with her reply and sat the PADD down on the desk. When she left her office there was quite the commotion going on. After escorting Kansas safely out she stood in the hall for a brief second contemplating how bad it was gonna be when she reentered SB. She took a big gulp of air and tried to put on her bravest face before turning and facing the door back in. She stepped into SB and braced herself for the oncoming slaughter she was sure she would face. She made it all the way to her office before anyone noticed she was back. Looking at Jaxa's new office from the corner of her eye , Eva waited for Vilanne to finish her speech about the possible solution to get crew members to get their physicals updates on a more regular schedule. She smiled and nodded, before adding a few pointers all the while thinking about the little..discussion she was going to have with the 'Core's new counselor. Jaz already heading towards the office before Dr Chalice could finish thanking her for her input. She peeked her head through the door. " Can I have a moment? " she asked on a very even tone. Asteria looked up from her desk and tried her hardest not to look worried she knew she had crossed the line by helping Kanasas out, but if she hadn't things might have gotten a whole lot worse than just a few dirty looks and some hurt feelings. "Of course come in." Eva closed the door behind her. "Want to explain me what that was? " the spotted doctor questioned , gritting her teeth. Asteria tried to answer "Jazz I... "but not before Eva cut her off... Jaz shook her head " I'll tell you what it was... That was you blatantly over stepping your bounds *and* making me unable to comply with a direct command from my superior!" Without letting the other trill place a word she went on. "When Doctor Chalice says : Don't let Commander Kenickie leave. I say Yes doctor and I don't let her leave. So Please explain me how you figured it was your place to authorize her to leave?" Eva glared, almost daring Asteria to answer. Asteria tried to fight down that horrible feeling of dread while Jaz was talking to her ::yup this is it you've finally screwed up big time way to go Jaxa:: ...."But Jaz if I could tell you what was going on I would you know that, I really didn't mean to get in the way of you during your job. After what I had to tell her I'm surprised that things didn't go worse out there." Asteria paused a moment trying to decide what the best course from here would be. "Dr. Mele will have the entire report on the incident and I'm sure he'll understand why It happened the way it did, And if he chooses to reprimand me for my actions then I will gladly take whatever punishment he so chooses."
  2. Asteria sat in her quarters going over her last duty log thankful she didn't make a complete mess out of her first shift on the bridge, she had T'Prise to thank for that one. She made a mental note to thank her during the next shift for not leaving her alone then thought better of it, Vulcan's rarely understood the need to thank people and at the time she didn't dare do anything to compromise the delicate relationship with the only one which spoke to her regularly in the dept. The other two science officers she would be working with are Morran who she found oddly interesting, and there's defiantly a story there but it would take a great deal of time to find out what it was. Then there is Escher whom she would be reporting to, a human who so hadn't figured out yet. She had every intention of resting before the she had to report for duty but she just laid in bed with her mind wondering off. Before she knew it she was wondering why starfleet had assigned her to this crew and ship .She had very little combat experience and the little she did have was mostly in the holodeck and very little experience on the bridge either. Her prior assignment was on the moon of a class M planet studying the chemical make up of the system. Jokingly she figured someone must have it out for her to put a young ensing on a black ops ship. She pushed the thoughts away and rolled over and drifted slowly to sleep hoping the coming day would provide some sort of ease for her thoughts.
  3. Name: Asteria JaxaRace: Joined Trill Gender: Female Age: 21 Ht.: 5'2" Wt.: 123 Lbs. Hair: Dark RedEyes: Blue Jaxa The first of the Jaxa Hosts was Menolly named for her mothers human best friend. Menolly spent her childhood with her Trill father and her Cardassian stepmother. Her mother died in child birth leaving her father to raise her, in the early years the only female influence she had was her mom's best friend who tried to help her father out in any way possible. When She was about 8 years old her father moved them to earth were he continued his medical practice. She eventually ended up with 2 half sisters. Menolly entered medical school to follow in her fathers footsteps and befriended another Trill named Jebel Jaz who taught her many Trill customs and traditions she was not familiar with since she grew up on earth. It was this friend who had given her the idea to go home to Trill and go ahead of the Trill Symbiosis Commission. After her initiate program she was then sent back to earth where Jaz became her field docent later that year Menolly became the first in her family to be joined. She then went to work for her father studying the DNA make up of children born from different species of parents. The Second host was Tobias Kingsley. Tobias was a federation doctor who served for over 30 years on a star ship. He then retired on Trill with his wife Tavah who was not welcome at home for refusing her arranged marriage with a Vulcan High Command officer. Tobias never had any children and died in his late 90's as a result of mourning his late wife who died 10 years earlier in a shuttle accident, Tobias never really got over her death. The Thrid Jaxa symbiont was Morio a talented musician who lived his life out on Trill writing symphonies and performing for and teaching Trill children. He always tried to get children involved with music and art saying the universe was a better place with it. Morio was on earth in San Francisco performing during a festival when he was bitten by an earthen insect and poisoned. When taken to the nearest infirmary his diagnosis wasn't good and the doctor suggested they find a Trill on Earth quickly for the symbiont would never make it back to Trill in time to be joined and so Morio died at the age of 73 without ever marrying or having any children of his own. Asteria is the current host of the Jaxa symbiont. Her Father sat on the board of the Trill symbiosis Commission. Asteria grew up as a only child both her parents were joined and expected nothing less from her. She was sent to only the finest schools and was expected to out perform everyone. She always took joy in making those around her happy. Her parents wanted her to remain on Trill and marry accordingly she tried to appease them for as long as she could but her love of science and technology was too great. After telling her parents she wanted to travel and see the universe she joined star fleet which caused a fall out between her parents and herself. Her primary learning curriculum was science. Her father told her he would not have a daughter that was locked away in some lab and not to bother coming home again unless she would marry the man of their choice and give up foolish childhood fantasies such as star fleet. While her mother was disappointed she tried to talk him out of it without much hope. Asteria then left home at 17 and joined the star fleet academy. Two years later at 19 she applied with the Trill symbiosis commission hoping to regain her fathers approval at her mothers suggestion. She never expected to be excepted so early. The commission allowed her to go through with the initiate program and her field docent at an early age because of her fathers position on the commission. She was told that when she was the appropriate age she would get a decision on her joining. She finished on Trill only to be back on speaking terms with her father but not much further. He was still not very happy about her joining star fleet. She then returned earth side to continue her training at star fleet academy. She expected the decision would not be made for quite some time with her being only 19 years old and and still in the academy. After only being back earth side for about two weeks she was contacted rather urgently from a nearby doctor and the Symbiosis commission telling her she was to be joined and to be at a meeting the next day. Asteria was shocked but boarded the next transit to the hospital where the meeting was taking place. She had no idea what was in store for her. Expecting to be told she would be joined when she was old enough and after graduation. Asteria felt confident she would be back at the academy by late afternoon. She met with a dapper young doctor who was a joined Trill who explained the joining process to her in depth and asked if she was ready. Reading the very confused look on Asteria's face the doctor asked if she had been told yet. Replying that the symbiosis commission did indeed tell here she would be joined at a later time. Asteria had assumed it would be later in life. The doctor then told her the Jaxa symbiont was in the hospital and was told that the previous host Morio was being being kept alive after a fatal insect bite and that all brain function has ceased and she was the nearest Trill to the location that had gone through the initiate program and field training that had not been declined. The doctor must have picked up on her worried look and assured her that even with her young age the commission was sure of their decision to pick her and she wasn't being thrown into it just because she was the closest Trill. The doctor told Asteria to prepare herself for the joining that would be performed within the next two hours however she felt fit. Asteria quickly called home and informed her parents of the decision for her joining. Much to her surprise they already knew about the joining. Then she knew why they had really picked her because of her father's position. She then made her way to the cafeteria and had some lunch in complete silence before she returned to the room she left the doctor in letting him know she was has ready as she would ever be. The joining went smoothly with no problems or concerns. At the age of 19 she was one of the younger Trills to be joined she then spent the next year learning to adapt to joined life while finishing her studies at star fleet. After Graduation from the academy with a PhD in chemistry and physics she served for two years aboard a star ship in the alpha quadrant surveying the make chemical make up of the moons atmosphere. At 21 she returned home during leave before accepting a new assignment on the USS Manticore. While on Trill she contacted her mother and learned of her fathers death. He was rock climbing with some colleagues in the Tenaran ice cliffs and took a wrong turn off the trail only to be met with a steep fall. She stayed with her mother and mourned briefly for her father before setting of for her new assignment. As she sat waiting for the transport she went over her the orders once again trying to decipher the sketchy directions she was given.
