Biography:

Life has always been more than just something to live for Elizabeth Clarke. Life has been her life. Interested from an early age in how living things managed to do all that living, she started off collecting various insects to study before her first day of primary school (much to the dismay of her parents, having them crawl/fly around the house). By the time she reached high school at North Chadderton, she knew what her purpose in life would be, and studied very hard so that she could study biochemistry at Cambridge.

Her work paid off, and she was admitted to Cambridge. Taking the four year course to earn her MSci, she constantly had her nose in PADDs and the studying kept her grades pristine. She also assisted professors and graduate students in the labs. Graduating with her degree from Cambridge, she was disappointed in her quest to remain there for graduate work as the lack of available slots kept her from admission. Therefore, she took off for California and went to Cal Berkeley instead.

Learning had been her priority through this point, and as she neared completion of her thesis she began to think about the future ahead of her. Deciding that, while life on Earth was very interesting, there was a whole galaxy's worth of life to explore and she chose to enter Starfleet so that she could explore strange new worlds and seek out new life and new civilizations in the void of space. Choosing to expand her field of study to be more useful, she studied Environmental Sciences at Starfleet Academy.

After graduating, the pip on her collar shining brightly, she was first assigned to the Oberth Class vesssel Hubble. Her work there was fascinating and fun, and she stayed aboard the Hubble for almost six years, until the Dominion War intervened. Back on Earth she was the junior most member of a research team working on the changeling problem. Her efforts there, while relatively fruitless, earned her high marks with the Sciences Division in Starfleet. Yet even then she still preferred to be out in space, and took a post on the Nova Class Pulsar.

While there was still a great deal to explore in the Beta Quadrant, the allure of the largely unexplored Gamma Quadrant became more apparent to Clarke. She requested transfer to the Gamma Quadrant, and was eventually tapped to join the USS Excalibur.
