History:

Kansas walked into the Council office and sat down; she looked over the stuff on the desk and waited. She looked over when Gwen Richards the Councilor assigned to her. Gwen sat down across from her and opened the folder with her files in it. “Kansas I know you are almost ready to graduate and this should have been brought up to you earlier. We have been unable to locate your birth records.”

Kansas leaned on the desk and tried to look at the file, “Did you speak with my father?”

Gwen nodded to her, “He didn’t go into detail, but he said your mother must have them.”

Kansas looked down and thought for a moment, “I am not sure if I can get them then; my Mother is in the Federation rehabilitation center… She has had problems in the past. The reason my father doesn’t have them is because my parents weren’t together any longer when I was born.”

Gwen tapped on her console, “Did your mother ever tell you where you were born, Earth, Mars the Lunar station?”

Kansas nodded and smiled, “Yes I was born on Earth, on the North American continent.” She fidgeted as she watched her add the info into the system. “Are those records needed?”

Gwen sighed at her console, “Well, we like to keep our file up to date, this help with medical records.” She paused and looked over at her, “I can not find you on Earth’s birth records. I see the flight records of you and your mother leaving Earth to go and meet up with your father on Mars, but that was from a general launch transport zone.”

Kansas sat silent for a few minutes trying to take in what had been told to her, she had always assumed her birth records were here. “What do I do now?”

Gwen smiled at her, “We will keep looking and let you know if we locate them. Until then don’t worry. I am sure they will pop up. Next time you speak with your father see if he knows where on Earth you were born. We know your mother is a subject you don’t like to talk about. But we all have things in out past we have to deal with. Good luck with your classes.”

Kansas stood up and exited the office and looked down the hall, she wasn’t sure what to think. She didn’t want to go to the prison to talk to her mother; she had planed on never going there… Kansas was raised by her father and considered him her parent. Her mother left her with him and never returned, so she had no love for the woman. She decided to let it go for now and deal with it some more if questions were asked.
