  1. GromVik’s Logs Commander GromVik Commanding Officer, USS Lewis 0411.18 “USS Lewis Status Report” Computer open duty log and begin recording… “Commanding Officer’s log, USS Lewis, stardate 0411.18. We are situated well beyond the Cardassian system, observing the storm’s path and coordinating the aftermath rescue efforts. We have been able to commandeer the assistance of civilian and non-aligned ships as well as quite a few Federation vessels. The USS Yorktown is waiting on standby and should be the first vessel to assess the situation after the storm. We have maintained direct communication with the fleet members, including the USS Yorktown, though communication has been inhibited by the ion storm. We will wait here until the system is declared safe and passable. We should start receiving some concrete information hopefully within the hour. Until then, the War Room of the Lewis remains on constant alert. Commander GromVik out.” Computer close duty log.
  2. GromVik’s Logs Commander GromVik Commanding Officer, USS Lewis 0411.18 “For a warrior, not all challenges are physical” Computer open personal log and begin recording… “I’ve been through many troublesome situations through my career, but none have been more troublesome than those situations that are beyond my or any other’s control or those situations that are squarely in the hands of others. I remember having to evacuate Sky Harbor Aegis at least once before. I remember boarding Pandora’s Box thinking to myself, if only there was something that I could do. Yet, there was nothing that anyone could do. In the end, Star Fleet had been duped and we had to take back the station by force. Rear Admiral Meve is facing a slightly different angst. With the ion storm pounding and bashing the station, he knows in the back of his mind that there is nothing that he can do. He must trust his capable staff to weather the storm without him. For a warrior, not all challenges are physical. In this case, for the Admiral, the battle is in the mind, in the psyche. In order to win this battle, the warrior must overcome himself and place his confidence in his brothers, his comrades. He must fight along side of them with his spirit… Perhaps, then, being on the sidelines is the greatest challenge of all. Yet, I know that Rear Admiral Meve has the strength and the resolve to overcome this challenge. When all is said and done, this experience will grow him as a leader and, most importantly, as a person. I know this to be true. In the mean time, my staff and I will continue to assist him in any way that we possibly can.” Computer close personal log.
  3. Dear Aegis crew past and present, It is with a heavy heart that I have come to this decision. For more than three years I have served on Aegis and have treasured my time here. Unfortunately, RL restricts my simming availability more and more. It would be unfair to remain in my position and only be able to attend once a month at best. I wish to thank each and everyone of you for the joy that simming on Aegis has brought. I always pictured myself as the last link between the old players of Aegis and the new breed. :( The following individuals do I acknowledge special thanks to: Captain Sorhel (Former CO of Aegis), Captain Meve, Captain Bulloc (Fomer XO and CO of Aegis), Lieutenant Commander Amnor, Lieutenant Commander Hawke, Lieutenant Commander Hartle, Commander Ayers, Lieutenant Jones, Lieutenant Spawn, Lieutenant (jg) Demore and to the rest of the officers I have served with over the years. [email protected] will remain active if you need to contact me. My resignation is effective immediately. With warmest regards, GromVik's Player
  4. GromVik's Logs (log 64) Commander GromVik Chief Engineer Sky Harbor Aegis 0308.08 "Space Trials" "Nice and easy Ensign," GromVik says as the docking clamps release Pandora's Box, letting her drift for the first time in a couple of months. Standing beside him is Lieutenant Chris Ralliford, a long time friend and colleague, who had requested being on the bridge when Pandora underwent her final space trials. There the two of them watch, gazing out the mainviewer, and standing on the very deck that a couple of months ago had been reduced to space dust. The Ensign at the conn acknowledges GromVik's order and sets the Pandora's Box in forward motion. After about forty-five seconds, the shadows on the hull disappear as she clears the space dock entirely. Within visual range sits the relocated Sky Harbor Aegis in its new home away from Cardassia Prime. "Bring us to full impulse," GromVik commands the conn officer once again. Pandora accelerates to full impulse and the image of Sky Harbor Aegis and the space dock become smaller. Chris turns to GromVik and smiles a knowing smile of a job well done. GromVik nods to Chris then looks back to the Engineering officer on the bridge. GromVik watches the young officer busy, but looking far from stressed, observing various data and statistics. Pleased, GromVik turns back to Chris and smirks. "Report," GromVik says. In the next ninety seconds GromVik receives status reports from all departments. The whole ship is functioning within normal working parameters. In the back of GromVik's mind, he still expects a catch. The last several months had been highly stressful for all stationed on Sky Harbor Aegis, and GromVik knows the stress is far from over. The new diplomatic stresses can neither be predicted nor measured. The crew would have to take them as they come. Already, the arrival of the station's new Chief Science Officer had lead to some friction and even insubordination. Satisfied with the performance of Pandora's Box, GromVik decides to take Pandora's Box to warp to a small class C planet outside of the sector. "Let's go to warp as planned," GromVik orders. The officers around him respond immediately and within seconds the stars in the main viewer begins to pass by at an accelerated rate. "Structural integrity?" GromVik asks. "Levels of stress reporting normal sir," barks back the Engineering officer on the bridge. "Good," GromVik responds as he turns to leave the bridge into the Captain's Office, "let me know when we get there." Over the next couple days the Pandora's Box undergoes numerous tests in order to determine whether or not she is ready to return to active status. To the surprise of none, she passes every test. The results are forwarded to Star Fleet command, who in return sends a memo to Commander GromVik to return home and resume normal operations as Aegis's support vessel. "Set a course for home Ensign...nice and easy," GromVik commands, "engage."
  5. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
  6. (Posted for Images while he is still on vacation) Images Personal Log Images lay on a sunbed sipping a tropical cocktail, lapping up the rays. The conference had been going fantastically with morning lectures ending around noon allowing the rest of the day to relax. The doctor felt like a genius finding out about this trip. Most conferences were set on dull dreary planets and were packed full with discussions with extremely dull physicians. But this trip to Risa was perfect with young vibrant doctors and included such interesting topics as "Klingon anger management" and "Famous Cardassian hangover cures". What could be better? If the rest of the crew knew about this they'd be swimming in jealousy. Images sipped his drink and lay back. However at the back of his mind he felt like he'd forgotten something... END
  7. GromVik's Logs (Log 62) Commander GromVik Chief Engineer Sky Harbor Aegis 0307.11 "Like a Watchman" GromVik did not realize that the rebuilding of the Pandora's Box first deck would be such a project. The bridge module he had ordered just a few weeks previous came in what seemed like a million pieces. Panels here, computer chips there, GromVik wondered if he was actually helping in the efforts of building a station rather than just a deck of a Norway class vessel. But then again, GromVik had been around for at least half of the construction of the new station. His transfer from Starbase Aegis did not occur until the shell of Aegis had been constructed. After his transfer, GromVik spent many months working out of the Federation Ground Base, which GromVik heard would soon become a diplomatic center. Thinking back to those days made GromVik smile. He recalled the massive numbers of vessels entering and leaving the system, then entering again. Star Fleet, Romulan, Ferengi, it was a sight to behold. No, he was not building a station after all. GromVik was assigned to oversee the operations of the reconstruction of the bridge of Pandora's Box. This change of scenery was a welcomed change. Although, he still had little time for relaxation, GromVik was happy that at least the stress of his work did not include firing any phasers, fighting any aliens or looking around for disguised bombs. For the most part, GromVik let the core of Star Fleet Engineers do what they needed to do. Many of them had assembled more vessels in their careers than GromVik had ever been on. They kept him informed of their progress, and GromVik nodded and signed documents. The relationship was beautiful. GromVik recorded and arranged for deliveries and handled all the nitty gritty aspects of working with Star Fleet Headquarters. He even had an office. Even better, GromVik was able to work alongside of his old friend, Chris Ralliford, who, like him, had been with GromVik from the beginning of Sky Harbor. GromVik was especially impressed with Ralliford's technical ability. It was no surprise to GromVik that Ralliford was assigned to the Pandora project as the technical liaison from Sky Harbor Aegis. The job suited him well, and Ralliford took full advantage of his opportunities. From outside his window, GromVik noted on several occasions seeing Ralliford working with other Engineers outside the hull of Pandora's Box. In a short time, the final delivery of parts for Pandora's new bridge would arrive, although its completion would still be several weeks. What interested GromVik even more was the final delivery to the area. This "special delivery," was one that GromVik had never actually seen done. Twenty Federation tugs awaited their orders to deliver Sky Harbor Aegis only a short distance from where the dry dock was located. GromVik stared out his window like a watchman that waits for the morning, hoping to be the first to catch a glimpse of the world he had called home for the last three years.
  8. GromVik's Logs (Log 61) Commander GromVik Chief Engineer Sky Harbor Aegis 0306.24 "So much to do...so much to do" GromVik paced the control tower, quite concerned about the recent events that had transpiried. Information was still limited, and GromVik feared that he and Aegis were at a reasonable disadvantage. What he did know was that something had struck Pandora's Box, destroying the bridge and causing significant other damage. If such an object could escape the sensors of Pandora's Box, a scientific enchanced destroyed with superior sensor capabilities, without even drawing a second look, then it could certainlly get past the sensors of Aegis, with its continued vulnerabilities. As a result, he had assigned Ensign Andrews the task of making sure nothing slipped past the station unnoticed. Yet, even this did not bring GromVik much comfort. Lieutenant, junior grade, Demore and Lieutenant Commander LaRoche of the Federation Task Force continued their efforts in restoring power and systems to Aegis. The task was monumental, and GromVik made a note in his mind to make sure that they were commended for their efforts when Aegis finally reached a status of normalcy. Demore and LaRoche restored auxiliary power for the first time since Captain Meve, Commander Ayers and Commander GromVik set off "the bug" months before. Auxiliary power would mean more resources for GromVik to use, more power to vital systems, and even the beginning of the restoration of secondary systems. Demore had recorded nearly a 75% increase in station resources and reserves. Yet, the amount of work still to be done dwelled in GromVik's mind and restrained him from becoming overly excited. GromVik drifted over to an unmanned science console that just a few minutes previous had not even been functional. He stared down at the sensor readings almost daring something suspicious to cross the grid. Yet, nothing did and all remained quiet. The console chirpped a continuous rythmic pattern every six seconds. After a few minutes, GromVik left the console and travelled across the control tower to the Captain's ready room. Once inside, he sat himself down at the desk and activated the LCAR angled slightly towards him. Commander Ayers had asked him to order a bridge module to replace decks A and 1 of Pandora's Box. Pandora's Box was part of the special refits of 2377, meaning finding a bridgue module would be difficult. Scrolling through the list of available parts confirmed this. With just seventy six left Norway Class vessels left in commission, parts were beginning to become scarce. GromVik frowned, knowing that if he could not the correct parts, that Pandora's Box would likely be decomissioned and turned into spare parts. Finally GromVik found what he was looking for. From the images on the screen, it didn't look pretty, but GromVik figured it would suffice.
  9. Congratulations Ethan, well deserved! :)
  10. Santa Clause? We got rid of his toy smuggling regime years ago! France now runs the factory...and they don't give any presents. :) DISCLAIMER: this is a joke...not meant to go any farther...thank you :)
  11. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alright now...bring in the dancing GMs we hired... :o Happy Birthday from all of us here on Sky Harbor Aegis, the coolest sim on Earth. :)
