  1. RES Talon Mission Briefing 51805.31 - Season 23 - The Talon is currently docked at ch'Rihan shipyards for repairs while the crew enjoys some well deserved leave. Laehval tTemarr: Questions? m_k_tksa: I was going to ask a question, but I can't remember what it is. Laehval tTemarr: The answer is yes, whatever it was. Lerak trPexil: (wow, only 10 seconds later) Laehval tTemarr: The sun is warm, but na the water. ::She enjoyed the beach, except for all of the sand and the screaming children, and the freezing water. 2. USS Republic Mission Briefing 51805.21 - Season 26 Ok, so last week we left off having just told the delegations about the time they were going to have to take away from the planet, while the energy beings.... corrected things. Needless to say, they were unhappy. However, as the crew had presented the proof, and had the files to prove it....and now need to be told that they must leave, as per Federation Quarantine Procedures BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM BEGIN SIM STSF_BluRox: Holly> :: turns to Rue:: There you go....they have the proof. STSF_BluRox: Which part of the danger did you not understand? STSF_BluRox: Seiben, Heather..... Explain to them what happens if these neutron star particles continue to push into the core of this planet? Heather Jamieson: If it is not 'cleaned up' the particles will go deeper into the core of the planet, causing more tectonic activity. STSF_BluRox: That's putting it mildly STSF Seiben: Yes ::turns to the projection:: That's correct. The tremors you've been experiencing will only get worse over time and will soon threaten both of your settlements. Heather Jamieson: As it heads to the core there is a risk of opening up the earth beneath you, molten activity. If those events don't kill you the end game will. STSF_BluRox: Listens to them still arguing that the Federation is just trying to take their planet away STSF_BluRox: :: turns to look at Rue:: Heather Jamieson: :: Loads up a time lapse projection :: Let me run this. Rue Wydown: We can either start the evacuations now, peacefully. Or wait until the planet is falling apart and hundreds die. Their blood will be on your hands. You won't be seen as leaders of your community, but executioners of families and friends. STSF_BluRox: That, and the fact that you had petitioned the Federation for membership, and being approved and now part of the Federation, how is it that you see the planet being take away by the people you asked to help you here? STSF_BluRox: For that matter, and as the Federations representative, I am hereby ordering this planet vacated for the 10 year period. At that time, you will then be permitted back. Instead of 10 years of hard toiling to cultivate this world, ti will be done for you. Use these 10 years, to get together what you want to bring to set up your new colony then. STSF_BluRox: I will hear no more argument on the matter. I have full say in the matter. You have 1 week, to get together your personal items and research, any equipment you want to move off for now. STSF_BluRox: We didn't have time for that...... I'm just glad Holly replaced that alloy pitcher with that fragile clay copy to help with the dramatic effect. :: grins:: I left the room so I could ask her to set that up, a little dramatic flair to get ther STSF_BluRox: their attention Rue Wydown: So now what do we do with the lot of them? Heather Jamieson: :: Consults her PADD :: Now I will admit I have not had a large amount of time to see what items you have, but I'm sure you have records of what you need to take. STSF_BluRox: I'm just glad to be getting away from here once we make sure their transports are up and heading out. We'll need to have Seiben set up the Federation Quarantine Zone warning message buoys, and we can have Heather deploy the buoys and proximity detectors that will signal the Federation if anyone violates the zone STSF_BluRox: Their own planets are still 5 parsecs in each direction....this was more a territorial land grab to ensure one of the other had control over more of the space in this sector, which is why the Federation said they could terraform it and share it STSF_BluRox: They can go back to their worlds and wait Rue Wydown: Let's just hope they do just that STSF_BluRox: It's totally up to them if they prepare to come back. They can have prefabricated items ready to bring back STSF_BluRox: Well, if they don't want trouble with the Federation, they will have to abide. 3. USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING 51804.23- Season 26 The crew was meeting to discuss the situation on the planet and see if they could come up with any reason why these anomalies could be happening. It had been concluded that fragments from a neutron star may have hit the plant via a comet, and we speculate that they may be a direct cause, however we've yet to explain the lights. Holly may have a theory. Heather Jamieson: :: nods :: STSF_BluRox: Holly> I've been ready... STSF Seiben: Yes. STSF_BluRox: Blu> Holly.....just the results please.... STSF_BluRox: Holly> Fine...... Ok, so as I had noted earlier, there seems to be some sort of signal or harmonic that we've not been able to figure out. STSF Seiben: ::Sips his coffee":: STSF_BluRox: Holly> I've been working on this pretty much full time, but have yet to been able to determine how or why Heather Jamieson: :: Thinks about the harmonic :: STSF Seiben: Hmm. ::sip:: STSF_BluRox: So the next question :: Blu looks around the room:: Is to determine what is causing this. Is it just a side effect of the neutron fragments, some sort of radiation? STSF_BluRox: Is this just some sort of vibration being caused by the energy in the fragments and it's radiating outward? STSF_BluRox: Or, is there really some sort of message. STSF_BluRox: Any thoughts? Heather Jamieson: I would surmise a reaction with something in the ground upon impact. STSF_BluRox: Please explain, for those here that may not be in that field of science Heather Jamieson: The fragments were traveling extremely fast. The impact could have changed the structure of metals under the surface. Both the fragments and the surrounding area would have been superheated. Heather Jamieson: On the surface it looks recovered, but under the ground, where we can't scan reliably, changes occurred. Heather Jamieson: That said, I've not seen anything like this in the science database. Heather Jamieson: I can't say I want to go back to the area.
  4. USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING - 51803.26 - SEASON 26 The crew, having discussed what their findings could mean, have come to the conclusion that there may have been some tiny fragments from a neutron star's implosion, that may have been carried to the planet by a meteor or comet that had struck the planet at some time in it's past. This could explain some of the disruptions, magnetic fluxes, odd occurrences. The team is researching its possible origin, as well as how we proceed to keep these colonists safe BEGIN SIM STSF_BluRox: Rue, I believe you were asking if anyone had tried cleaning up something of this size. The answer is no. There have only been 2 other documented cases that were thought to be something similar, but the sites were abandoned in early colonization. It may be that it wasn't a major issue until they stared terraforming the issue here STSF Seiben: ::looking at an overlay of the planet in astrometric:: Rue Wydown: And I don't suppose suggesting they relocate elsewhere will work. ::frowns:: STSF_BluRox: However, I do have a question, we checked out the sites that the one group had mentioned, however the other colonist/terraformers had also reported that they had been having issues as well. However, we've not really followed up on that site. Did anyone gather any information hear the planetary food distribution warehouse STSF_BluRox: If I recall, they too had experienced some power and equipment failures, but had also reported increasing frequency of the shimmering lights Rue Wydown: We had not the chance to do so. We had away team issues. ::thinking of someone's broken ankle:: Heather Jamieson: :: Looking at Wydown :: STSF_BluRox: Noted...perhaps we could get a few readings from up here, request an update, or if need be, take a quick trip down to follow up STSF Seiben: (I thought you were in astrometric Heather) Heather Jamieson: (think I was, scratch that then) STSF_BluRox: lol Heather Jamieson: I felt something funny Seiben STSF Seiben: Is it your meds? STSF_BluRox: Speaking of those shimmering lights Rue, had your away team spent much time scanning them, trying to determine what they were? STSF_BluRox: (sorry, just realized this was a Jax thing....::pulls out the Cardboard Jax:: ) Heather Jamieson: I am on pain medication, so my thoughts are...not my own to some extent. STSF Seiben: Hm, that's some meds they gave you. Rue Wydown: Our overnight scans were inconclusive. However, with the data Holly was able to collect, I'm speculating that were residual effect of the anomaly she picked up on STSF_BluRox: Holly> I can take a further look at the scans Commander Jax had taken at the dam and on the plateau.....but information from the other site would be helpful Heather Jamieson: What an odd formation on this planet. STSF_BluRox: Holly> it almost seemed like there was some sort of residual interference with each of the readings we had received. I'm still looking into it. STSF Seiben: Yes, it certainly is. Heather Jamieson: I have to wonder if this is solvable or perhaps moving is easier. STSF_BluRox: Holly> :: launch a probe to that area and continue the reading:: Heather Jamieson: Truthfully though I messed up the entire mission due to my ankle STSF Seiben: I was gonna say anything, but maybe it would've been better If we stayed in the shuttle? STSF_BluRox: Holly> I can do that. I believe that when we first arrived, some data had been sent and Jax was going to review it. I'll request she send me that info to add STSF Seiben: How is your ankle by the way? Heather Jamieson: It feels...funny. STSF_BluRox: (your funny bone is located in your arm, not your ankle! lol) Heather Jamieson: Tried to get some advanced readings....and I don't like being around Jax at all. I don't know why I don't request a transfer. She is very stressful to have around. STSF_BluRox: Holly> :: appears back on the bridge:: I found the same interference in the readings from the other site, but much much stronger when the shimmering is reported Heather Jamieson: I think we'd have to solve this before actual fighting breaks out with these people. STSF Seiben: I agree with the latter statement. STSF_BluRox: Holly> May I put this on the main viewer? STSF_BluRox: Yes, Rue, let's get the rest of your away team up and see if they make any sense of this noise Heather Jamieson: Our luck we disrupted an unknown lifeform. STSF Seiben: Bad luck I'd say. Rue Wydown: +Seiben and Jamieson+ Away team, please report to the conference room immediately. STSF Seiben: +Rue+ Aye sir. STSF Seiben: Well, let's do this. Or not, STSF_BluRox: (if you chose not, I'm sure Rue will skin you both alive) Heather Jamieson: This ole ankle it to report to the conference room. :: gets up and heads out of the lab :: I like your realistic attitude, STSF Seiben: Just keeping it real. Rue Wydown: ::just shakes her head a bit:: STSF_BluRox: Holly sets up the cardboard Jax in the corner STSF Seiben: ::stands next to Heather:: STSF_BluRox: Ok, thanks for coming back again to discuss this puzzle. Holly has been going over the readings that Rue and Jax had collected, as well as the data that you and Seiben had collected.... looking at Heather::: Heather Jamieson: :: nods :: STSF Seiben: ::looks around:: Heather Jamieson: Yes, what to do from here. STSF_BluRox: Have you been able to work out any possible exploding stars or supernova that materials could have been ejected from or carried here? ::looks at Heather and Seiben::: Heather Jamieson: Any explosion would have happened a long time ago. :: Pulls up a map on the display in the conference room LL STSF Seiben: ::glad the Science Girl is taking the lead here:: STSF_BluRox: Yes, that we know, we're just wondering if thee could be any corresponding data on meteors or comet may have also frequented those same areas.. Heather Jamieson: I do have a timeline of meteor and comet paths for this region over the past few years, both calculated and observed.. STSF_BluRox: Holly> Admiral, Captain...if I may. I believe that the interference we were picking up, might actually be some sort of ...message or communication? STSF_BluRox: A message? From who? STSF Seiben: (a Nigerian Prince lol) Heather Jamieson: I wondered that, but I can't parse the data as fast as Holly. Rue Wydown: A message? ::quirks her eyebrow:: PAUSE SIM PAUSE SIM PAUSE SIM Heather Jamieson: I need to get 500 bars of gold pressed latinum out of Ferengnar... See you all on Thursday!
  5. USS Republic Mission Briefing 51803.19 - Season 26 The senior officers had been discussing what the computer and Holly had made of the data they had returned, and it was the group's hypothesis that at some point, a comet or meteor had hit the planet, and had possibly contained fragments from an exploding neutron star, that must have had enough acceleration and mass to escape the forming black hole. Heather and Seiben were going to Astrometrics to see if they could doe some scans of the planet to see if they could see more information about where the impact was, while August and Rue were going to discuss options with Blu. Where can I meet you all? ::rubs her right eye:: STSF_BluRox: Holly> ::let's her dabble so not to bruise the human's feelings:: STSF Seiben: ::nods:: All right STSF_BluRox: Jax, just ask her to join us here....:: sniffs:: Smells like Holly made us a snack:: Walks over to the replicator and picks up the plate of honey buttered toast and the pot of tea:: Heather Jamieson: Searching for substructures underground. STSF_BluRox: Oh thank the stars....I can get a cup of this before Rue orders that ....stuff she passes off as tea,.. STSF_BluRox: :: quickly pours herself a cup and moves the hot pot and trivet over to Jax STSF Seiben: ::looking at the view screen intently:: STSF_BluRox: Cardboard Jax> :: messages Rue to meet them in the conference room Rue Wydown: ::heads on in the conference room, padd under one arm, whistling a merry tune:: August Jax Robinson: +Rue+ I am in the Conference room when you are ready STSF_BluRox: (I bought an iced tea on the way home, only drank half of it, wishing it was hot tea now) Rue Wydown: ::taking a seat at the table:: I can safely report, I witness no bridge crew members sticking gum under their console. Heather Jamieson: :: Twists the display to show a cross-section :: Hmm... Too bad I'm not a geologist. August Jax Robinson: they might fall apart if fresh Gum isn't added STSF Seiben: I just drive ships and press buttons STSF_BluRox: Holly>:: sighs at the two of them:: Heather Jamieson: That worked so well for my friend Kasuga. STSF Seiben: Hm, yes. STSF_BluRox: Blu> :: sighs that the two she's with STSF_BluRox: Holly> :: turns to Heather:: Did you sleep thru her whole trial? STSF Seiben: Kasuga> ::relaxing at a beach somewhere on Earth, drinking a cocktail in a coconut cup:: STSF_BluRox: Holly> she's lucky she wasn't locked away for years Rue Wydown: I think that duct tape works better than gum STSF_BluRox: Blu> I don't even want to know.... STSF Seiben: I just have to remember not to speed Heather Jamieson: You have an interesting AI program Holly. STSF Seiben: ::Says nothing, remembers what his cousin told him about Holly:: August Jax Robinson: ::starts looking over her padd:: STSF_BluRox:Holly> I am not a program Cadet Rue Wydown: As long as I don't catch someone using washi tape on a console, I'm fine STSF Seiben: ::Space Janitor Heather:: August Jax Robinson: Holly, has anyone from the planet tried to contact us since we left? STSF_BluRox: Ok....so let's get you caught up Rue. Short guess by Holly, is the planet got hit by a meteor or comet as some point, and that she thinks from the data that was collected, that there is some evidence that perhaps some fragments from an exploding neutron star were buried in the crust upon impact Rue Wydown: That'd explain the readings we got and the weirdness. How large of an impact field was it? August Jax Robinson: ::Pulls up old scans of the are and compares them to the resent one's that were taken:: I wonder if that impact moved the planet and rotation STSF_BluRox: Holly> one second... +Jax+ Yea, same stuff from the leaders of both of the Terra forming groups, still complaining that the other side is trying to sabotage them STSF_BluRox: Jax, pull up those scan's Holly sent us of the plateau... we're guessing it mainly hit here.. :: pointing to the almost crater look of the upper plateau, and the small basins where the dam had been built and the large food storage location Heather Jamieson: An impact fragment. STSF_BluRox: Holly was unable to correlate anything to guess what the shimmering lights could be coming from Heather Jamieson: A more than normally concentration of protons. August Jax Robinson: ::Pulls up images and puts the on the mini screen in there:: Heather Jamieson: It may be reacting to natural elements in the plateau. STSF Seiben: That's a possibility. Rue Wydown: Could that possible be some sort of residual dust? Or chemical reaction in the air? STSF_BluRox: Holly> Ok, so the Admiral and the others are looking at the planet, as we've already pulled those views up....what she wanted you two to work on...is to correlate with the computer and try to determine what star went Nova , a neutron star, and most likely formed a black hole. STSF_BluRox: Holly> It will take some time and searching, but try to match the energy amplitudes, I've already have been scanning, but this needs someone’s full attention, I'm also working on some other possibilities Heather Jamieson: But what to do if that is the case? STSF_BluRox: Holly> Can you two handle it? I'd start with 'known' nova information and extrapolate from there to rule out those that do not match STSF Seiben: Ooh black hole. I'll do my best. STSF_BluRox: (don't let your work suck you in Seiben) STSF Seiben: (I'll try not to lol) STSF Seiben: (that would.. suck) STSF_BluRox: it's possible, Holly is trying to cross reference against any previous type of encounters August Jax Robinson: I think the planet might have shifted when it was hit Heather Jamieson: :: nods :: STSF_BluRox: But, what I wanted to discuss with you two.....is if we find that we do have dark matter fragments buried in the crust, is there any way to expose if and if so, will it just kill u STSF_BluRox: you STSF_BluRox: We need to figure out if they can remain here with this, is there anything that can be done about it safely, if not, anything done at all? August Jax Robinson: The ground may be contaminated as well, it might be safe to eat if it does grow STSF_BluRox: And if not, and evacuation plan, but I'm almost certain they'll just accuse us of trying to take over their planet and resources August Jax Robinson: *not STSF Seiben: ::starts search up information about the recent astrological files on this area of space::: Rue Wydown: Has anyone attempted a cleanup of a site this size? STSF_BluRox: We've got no records of this small of an amount, any evidence of larger fragments, has...well...worked its way into the mantle and core, and destroyed the planet. , we've only been able to study examples after the fact, nothing in progress. STSF_BluRox: (Search farther out Sieben, we'd not want to be in the same sector as a black hole) Heather Jamieson: :: Gets records for the planet's changes over time :: STSF Seiben: (cool, will do) STSF Seiben: ::expands his search to cover several more sectors:: Heather Jamieson: (Search your feelings, for you know it to be true) Rue Wydown: So this isn't going to be easy, is it? August Jax Robinson: is it ever easy? STSF Seiben: This should be a good range here. Rue Wydown: No, no it isn't Heather Jamieson: :: Wondering how to repair this planet... :: STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM August Jax Robinson: ::Paused::: STSF_BluRox: Good sim, let's figure out where these particles may have come from, and determine the final impact this will have on the planet STSF_BluRox: Ok, any questions bedfore we stop? Heather Jamieson: Could have been Hawking radiation. Heather Jamieson: None here.. Good to know Jax still likes me. Rue Wydown: Nothing from me August Jax Robinson: when did I say that?! STSF_BluRox: ok then..so for now, Crew Dismissed, See you all on Thursday
  6. USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING 51803.12 - Season 26 The away team has returned and are in a debriefing with the Admiral.......Rue and Jax had just brought up the power station and we are awaiting the rest of the reports. August Jax Robinson: (w) protect me Blu STSF_BluRox: (that's creepy Heather) STSF_BluRox: (Why am I envisioning you all in a Scooby Doo episode right now?) STSF Seiben: Zoinks! STSF_BluRox: (brilliant....what a great future idea!) STSF_BluRox: BEGIN SIM STSF_BluRox: BEGIN SIM STSF_BluRox: BEGIN SIM STSF_BluRox: :: Sits back listening to Rue and Jax discussing the power plant / hydroelectric dam:: Heather Jamieson: :: Watching the progress of the computer models being created from the tricorder data. They could not get clear readings, but perhaps the computer could shed some light... :: STSF Seiben: ::watches as well and listens STSF_BluRox: I'd like to hear from each of you, what your impressions were at the dam. STSF_BluRox: Jax, please continue August Jax Robinson: ::Points as Rue talks, then brings up images:: STSF_BluRox: Any opinion Jax? Why the twisted metal every time they started it up? August Jax Robinson: I think the system should have been maintained better. but with the work we did, as long as they keep it up August Jax Robinson: it should last STSF Seiben: I agree, maintenance issues aside the dam seemed to be well constructed. STSF_BluRox: What did you do at the dam to correct the issue? It was my understanding that you were observing August Jax Robinson: I think they had a weak metal, it is natural that it would need to be replaced with a stringer STSF_BluRox: But why every time they started it up, the new turbines would bend as well? August Jax Robinson: they used the best the planet could make STSF_BluRox: Quite the puzzle STSF_BluRox: ::turned to Heather and the newer Seiben...it was hard to get past the family resemblance , nearly identical to one of his predecessors:: Tell me about what you found up on the plateau? STSF_BluRox: (oh wtf.... weatherman is now saying we might get 24"....3 days ago, it was 3-6"...grrr) Heather Jamieson: The readings were off the charts for a tricorder, but I think with the ship scanning and our local devices scanning we should be able to create a clearer picture. But we are only scratching the surface, literally. Preliminary data suggests activity below the surface. STSF Seiben: We found abnormal readings coming from the lakes there; a high amount of electromagnetic readings. August Jax Robinson: ((umm, this is my 3rd Nor'easter. we can't keep up with the tree branches! our cherry picker is sidelined because she is a 1994/1992)) STSF Seiben: (oooh) August Jax Robinson: ((FYI, the truck and Boom might not be the same age)) STSF_BluRox: (3rd in 12 days here.... but they are sort of normal for us here) STSF Seiben: We weren't able to pinpoint the exact source of these readings before we left, but I imagine it is what's causing all the electrical interference. STSF_BluRox: Heather, what did you find about the readings...I know Holly mentioned that she sent some information to Rue to inform the team. She will be joining us shortly, she's investigating another lead and wants to have all her data together before she joins us Heather Jamieson: Very erratic, highly energetic. I'd not want to remain there long. I believe the source may be underground. August Jax Robinson: it was a long hike STSF Seiben: That it was Heather Jamieson: There is so much interference that real-time analysis is not really possible. STSF_BluRox: So, can I have a hypothesis from you all, as to what you think it might me? STSF_BluRox: (sorry, had to pop into the lobby to help someone new) Heather Jamieson: A geological anomaly centered at that plateau due to underground rare element structures energized by... I'm not certain. Could be the work they are doing here. Geological activity... STSF Seiben: It seems really a large source to be manmade, though I wouldn't discount the possibility. I would assume its some sort of electrical field or geological phenomena August Jax Robinson: I think it might be something kind of vibration, like area's that have those sounds from no where in places August Jax Robinson: there is no sound that we can hear, it might not be something we can pick up... yet Heather Jamieson: Dilithium deposits...? STSF_BluRox: What of the ...sparkling lights that they were describing. Did you get a chance to observe and record the phenomenon? STSF_BluRox: (Welcome Suvok) August Jax Robinson: We did see them, it was amazing STSF Seiben: The lights could be an electrical aura similar to the auroras on Earth's poles Suvok: (Thank you, BluRox.) Heather Jamieson: Very low to the ground Seiben STSF_BluRox: ::looks down at her Padd noticing that Holly had just sent some files to review:: STSF Seiben: Yes, but the electrical field is underground as you suggest, then I suppose it could be possible... but then again, you're the scientist not me. STSF_BluRox: Ah, one moment..... got some information: transfers the file to be shown on the larger screen. STSF Seiben: but if the electrical...* August Jax Robinson: ::Looks over the readings:: STSF Seiben: ::looks at the screen:: STSF_BluRox: Holly had noted that there had been some anomalous readings that on a much smaller scale, almost appeared similar to what would be seen from the energy or debris from an exploding neutron star.... Did you factor any of that into your information and hypothesis? ACTION :: brings up a holoimage of the plateau the team had just visited. From orbit, it can be seen that it is not just a plateau, but actually a crater upon a mountaintop, but not like a volcano. Heather Jamieson: No, but I can. The computer will have to take some time with it. STSF_BluRox: Holly is already working on it, she had assumed you took the information you had been sent to factor it into your observations. Heather Jamieson: I was correlating the tricorder data with the ship's sensors. STSF_BluRox: Holly> ::: activates the viewer and shows up on their screens:: I've been going through the data and the information that the team collected. it is my best hypothesis, that a few small fragments from a neutron star implosion, may have made their way here by the power of the blast. Typically, most matter would have been recaptured by the resultant black hole being formed, however, it is not uncommon that a stray bit may escape. STSF_BluRox: Holly> If this indeed what the issue is, these people may have a problem. It may be that those small fragments by nature of their density and general nature, are most likely working their way down into the planet and may be the cause of the electromagnetic disturbances. August Jax Robinson: isn't that what I said? STSF_BluRox: Blu> Holly, keep investigating, I'll have the team factor in this new information and see what they come up iwth. STSF_BluRox: Alright, while Holly works on that.... what impact on the colonist could this have, and on the terraforming project in general? STSF_BluRox: Anyone? August Jax Robinson: it could destroy the planet Heather Jamieson: As they scale up projects it could become a greater problem. STSF_BluRox: That is a distinct possibility STSF Seiben: Yes, I'd imagine the more they dig, the bigger the electromagnetic disturbance gets STSF_BluRox: I think it also relates back to the bent turbines at the dam. Not shoddy workmanship, but electromagentic issues STSF Seiben: ::nods:: STSF_BluRox: Heather, Seiben, I'd like for you both to head to Astrometrics and discuss this with Holly. Heather Jamieson: Understood. STSF Seiben: Yes sir STSF_BluRox: Jax, I want you and Rue to discuss the colonist issue with me. Do we need to evacuate? If they refuse, do we make them leave or are we forced to let them be? August Jax Robinson: I think if they keep on drilling yeah, they are going to go boom STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM STSF_BluRox: PAUSE SIM August Jax Robinson: ::Paused::: STSF_BluRox: Ok, great job tonight being a bit on the light side. STSF_BluRox: Any questions or comments before we end tonight? STSF_BluRox: (Oh...and say hello to Suvok, who stopped in to watch the sim, and I believe is a new member?) STSF Seiben: Hey Suvok: (I am Indeed. I am watching to learn of how the roleplay functions.) STSF_BluRox: It's pretty easy, you are welcome to stop by our Romulan game on Thursday night if you like as well, and Seiben has a weekend game he runs as well STSF_BluRox: Also, if you look at he drop down menu at the top of the screen, on the help tab, the drop down menu will take you to Walking and Talking, it will detail how we talk and type to indicate conversation vs actions STSF_BluRox: There are games most nights during the week, feel free to drop in and watch how they go. We are open to new crew so if you are interested, stop back again and we can discuss letting you try playing on a trial basis to see if you like it or not STSF_BluRox: Ok, and I know some of you have to work in the morning, so let's wrap this up for tonight. STSF_BluRox: Crew Dismissed. See you Thursday on the Talon
  7. USS Republic Mission Briefing 51803.05 - Season 26 The AT has reached the plateau and have been busy trying to take readings and trying to determine what the shiny glittery lights that are rising from the ground are. The crew has also received some data from Holly STSF_BluRox: Begin Sim STSF_BluRox: Begin Sim STSF_BluRox: Begin Sim Action: Holly sends a message that if the team could send her their hypothesis upon what they are seeing, that she can feed the ideas into the computer and see if there is any feasible correlations... As for the shiny emanations, I'm at a loss... Rue Wydown: +Holly+ The question now is how to fix the problem. ::hands on her hips:: I know what Robinson would say if he was there, he'd blow it up. August Jax Robinson: that does sound like an excellent idea STSF_BluRox: +Commander+ Please hold one moment, I'm getting a transmission from the dam again.... :: sends some irritating "hold' muzak on the line for the Away Team while she takes the other call STSF_BluRox: (careful...you do have 'a' Robinson with you..... STSF Seiben: Feeling queasy as well? August Jax Robinson: ::Pulls Heather back onto her sled, pullie thing... sissy:: August Jax Robinson: ::Fakes feeling OK:: STSF Seiben: ::smiles and helps pull Heather still feeling queasy:: Heather Jamieson: Thanks...ugh.... :: on the sled :: STSF_BluRox: +Commander Wydown+ I do believe from the information that I've received from your team, and tying in what we have from the transformers form both colonies, coupled with the information our scans from the ship have shown, I think it would be best if you were to leave the area, much as the colonist did, and return to the ship for further discussion. If you could bring a soil sample, it would be helpful Rue Wydown: You would just fail on my planet. ::shakes her head:: Did someone upload the readings to Holly Heather Jamieson: Need a sample. :: looks down :: STSF Seiben: ::stops so Heather can pick up a sample;: Heather Jamieson: :: Seals the cap :: Got it. August Jax Robinson: ::sits next to Heather::: hurry up and get some dirt STSF Seiben: Cool STSF_BluRox: (did she get a handful from her sled, or did she actually take the core sample that was requested earlier?) Rue Wydown: ::hangs head:: ACTION: As the team has taken the requested samples and made their way back down the shuttle, they have returned to the ship to make sense of what they've scanned, collected and observed August Jax Robinson: ((If it was tonight, then no. STSF_BluRox: ::nods:: August Jax Robinson: The place is a dead zone, limited comm's and awful terrane August Jax Robinson: at least the area we were in Rue Wydown: Issues with the power plant came up. 8. USS Republic Mission Briefing 51802.26 - Season 26 The AT is getting close to reaching the plateau which had been creating the difficulty for transport, travel and colonization in general up here. August Jax Robinson: ::Hands Rue a Power bar::: Heather Jamieson: Let me lower the scanning range. August Jax Robinson: ::bites into one herself:: how far you think that is Rue Wydown: Hard to estimate from the looks of things. I thought just a half hour or a bit. What do you think? Heather Jamieson: May have to investigate closer. August Jax Robinson: how far does your tricorder say H ? Heather Jamieson: Range is one kilometer now Rue Wydown: One Kilo isn't too bad. Heather Jamieson: We are on the perimeter of this phenomenon. STSF Seiben: Hmm August Jax Robinson: Well, seems far when you have dead weight to drag with you :::Heather:: Heather Jamieson: :: looks ahead of her :: Looks like if the readings were any more intense we could not enter. Heather Jamieson: I know you are there for me Commander Robinson. August Jax Robinson: then you know more than me on that one STSF Seiben: (I'll be there for you...when the rain starts to pour..) Heather Jamieson: Wonder if we have to wait for what they saw. Rue Wydown: She's not dead weight. Let's get moving. My credit card can't take another blow from Disney Planet STSF_BluRox: (hint....Seiben..if you scroll back through your PM's, you may (will) find a good description) Heather Jamieson: :: Bends down to touch the ground with her hand :: August Jax Robinson: something up with the ground H? Heather Jamieson: Sometimes the senses can pick up signals the tricorder can't. August Jax Robinson: no... no they can't August Jax Robinson: I'm an engineer, trust me STSF Seiben: ::checks his tricorders:: Right, it seems to be coming from that mountainous area over there by that lake, judging by these energy readings they could be emitting strong EMPs, which may explain why our equipment isn't working. Heather Jamieson: I don't trust you, that's the thing. Heather Jamieson: Is there a pattern to the pulses? STSF Seiben: Too hard to tell with these readings, I'm afraid. Rue Wydown: ::scans through her tricorder to play back what Holly sent them:: STSF Seiben: But, it does seem to centred in that area. Holly> After several scans from the ship while we orbited, and from reading I've compared to other phenomenon that we've encountered, it is almost as if we were picking up emanations similar to a neutron star..... 11. USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING 51801.22 - SEASON 26 The away team had split up to cover more ground, with Heather and Seiben heading up into the mountains, while Jax and Rue had been monitoring from the shuttle. The ship was unable to go any further due to the interference that the colonists had reported. This also has been making communications difficult. After injuring an ankle, Heather and Sieben were stranded about halfway to their objective when it turned dark and left them without survival gear. Luckily the Republic had been monitoring and had sent a survival pack to them, and pancakes to Rue and Jax. Meanwhile, Holly had sent her preliminary findings to Rue, that she picked up readings similar to when they had previously ran into fragments from a collapsed neutron star. Rue Wydown: ::starts hiking, following the path that she thinks will take her to the life signs that Holly pinpointed.:: So Holly things that the readings are similar to a collapsed neutron star. What do you think about that? STSF_BluRox: @Holly> :: running computations through the computer and trying to match with the information that had been sent from the colonists and from the away team's earlier information from the dam:: STSF Seiben: Hopefully, the rest of them can catch up with us soon Heather Jamieson: I think so... :: giggles :: I think it's the altitude Rue Wydown: ((Just so you know, if you're lost in the woods, you really should stay in one location so that a search party can find you.)) August Jax Robinson: {{you watch to much TV Rue}} Rue Wydown: ((Heck no. I've also pulled up a terrain map of the planet.. I think I may have a partial explaination Heather Jamieson: Hmm :: shivers :: Perhaps you should start that fire you spoke of. August Jax Robinson: ::Sits up and grabs a pancake::: August Jax Robinson: ::talks with her mouth full:: we hear from the others? STSF Seiben: Yes, yes. ::gets up and gathers up some wood and kindling and lights it up:: We still have some leftovers from that care package if you're hungry. Rue Wydown: +Holly+ ::Settling back in her chair with a plate:: Don't keep me in suspense. What did you find out? Heather Jamieson: Sounds good.. STSF Seiben: We can warm them up in the fire.. Heather Jamieson: :: Looks out at the horizon, then down to where the others likely were :: Rue Wydown: And no, I haven't heard from the others yet. ::glances at Jax:: How's breakfast? STSF_BluRox: @ Holly> Concerned that there are possible fragments from a neutron star exploding, STSF Seiben: ::warms up some of the food and makes some hot water:: STSF Seiben: I hope there's at least some tea bags or coffee in here STSF_BluRox: @ :: starts to search further August Jax Robinson: could use more butter, but good Heather Jamieson: Coffee... Heather Jamieson: I hope we can find out what's going on here... :: perks up :: You are a lifesaver STSF Seiben: No milk though STSF Seiben: (but it's so efficient) Rue Wydown: I think we'll be on a rescue mission first to retrieve the knuckleheads on that mountain. And then we'll continue our research as planned. August Jax Robinson: {{in school, was it still bagged or boxed?}} STSF Seiben: (it was in a carton.. bagged milk only comes in 3 - 1 litre bags)) Heather Jamieson: Let's share the blanket while we drink the coffee you have.... August Jax Robinson: {{smh::}} STSF Seiben: Hmm. OK ::Takes the food from the fire and pours some coffee into their canteen cups:: Heather Jamieson: (milk is pretty cheap here) STSF Seiben: (here too) August Jax Robinson: {{we are obsessed with milk LOL)) Heather Jamieson: I think what we are seeing is some natural event STSF Seiben: The sunrise? Yes, it naturally happens every day. Heather Jamieson: Ha ha Rue Wydown: After breakfast, let's get ready to move out. I'm going to replicate some climbing gear and a few other supplies to pack. STSF Seiben: ::sips the hot instant coffee:: August Jax Robinson: ::Sips her fresh coffee:: STSF Seiben: ::eating some leftover toast with butter:: Rue Wydown: How'd you sleep? I slept like a baby Rue Wydown: This is a vacation for you I see STSF Seiben: I'm glad that Holly sent that care package.. made the night somewhat more tolerable STSF Seiben: Sure beats sleeping on the forest floor, that's for sure. August Jax Robinson: ::Grabs some toast::: have they tried to comm us? Heather Jamieson: It sure did.. STSF Seiben: Was expecting a much worse night that day, so we owe Holly one Heather Jamieson: Did the shuttle attempt to communicate with us overnight? STSF Seiben: No. I didn't get anything, though the reception here is terrible. STSF Seiben: I wonder if they think we're dead Rue Wydown: No, Holly wasn't able to get us a connection on our end. I have no idea if they tried themselves. I thought I'd try this morning to see if sunup would make a difference. We at least know where they are. Heather Jamieson: Something in the area is messing with the radio bands. STSF Seiben: Want to try again? STSF Seiben: ::has his mouth full of toast, not in much position to talk:: Heather Jamieson: :: Nods, tapping her communications badge :: Heather Jamieson: +shuttle team+ This is Jamieson and Seiben to the shuttle team, do you read? 13. USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING 51801.08 - Season 26 Rue and Jax have wisely decided to spend the night at the shuttle, warmth, holovids and wine II bet, while our intrepid mountain campers, are stuck about 3.5 miles away up on a mountain in the cold dark night without any of the appropriate supplies. It's gonna be a rough night, but at least we're out of the wind and rain... mostly. Heather Jamieson: We need more for the fire. STSF_BluRox: Holly> +COM+ Commander, this is Holly. We were checking on crew readings and noted that your party has become separated. We've also noticed that 2 of your party are showing signs of physical stress, most likely due to the elements. We are still unable to beam anyone up due to the interference Heather Jamieson: Cold, but fine for now. STSF_BluRox: Holly> +Com+ IDid you want us to send down more people, or an emergency supply package? STSF Seiben: I'll go get more branches and sticks. Heather Jamieson: :: Moves closer to the fire :: STSF Seiben: ::carefully heads into the woods to grab some more fallen sticks and branches for kindling. August Jax Robinson: ::Snores, fallen asleep during the movie:: ACTION> The collected wood, a bit damp due to the nights dampness, make for a bit of a smokey fire, blowing right into Heather's face (because any camper will tell you no matter what side you sit on, smoke is evil and will look for your face) Heather Jamieson: :: spits :: Blah! STSF Seiben: (that's true) Heather Jamieson: :: Moves around :: @Holly> +com+ Commander, did we lose you? Do you wish us to send them more crew, or any supply packets? STSF Seiben: I wish... we'll survive the night ACTION> It hits with a heavy impact and buries it's front end into the soft loam of the forest floor about 15 feet from them.... Rue Wydown: Either that, or that's the care package that Republic sent to the kids. STSF Seiben: It crashed nearby. I'll go see what that is... that was too close for comfort August Jax Robinson: isn't that cheating on their part STSF Seiben: ::heads towards the crashed object:: Rue Wydown: The fact that they need a care package is cheating? ACTION> Sieben see's that it is indeed a torpedo casing from the USS Republic August Jax Robinson: we all took Survival 101 STSF Seiben: Ooh. ::looks for a button to open the package:: Rue Wydown: We took it, doesn't mean we survived it ::grins:: Heather Jamieson: A gift from the ship. Remind me to requisition some brain cells for the next away team. @Holly> +COM+ When you and the others return to the ship, I've studied some of the readings that you sent back, they make little sense, but may have a bearing on what is occurring there STSF_BluRox: +Rue+ Aye sir, pleasant dreams. I have a delivery scheduled for you as well in the morning. Sleep well. Republic out Heather Jamieson: We don't know how cold it will get. We should consider body heat. :: wraps a blanket around her and looks up at the stars :: August Jax Robinson: ::Giggles, pulls blanket over her head:: STSF Seiben: It shouldn't be so bad now. Yes, we should stick close together to stay warm... I remember that much from survival training. Rue Wydown: I hope that our delivery isn't something scary. ::snuggles into her blanket:: August Jax Robinson: ::Quotes the movie::: "This is our biggest boat?! 14. USS REPUBLIC MISSION BRIEFING 51712.11 - SEASON 26 The crew wants to look more into the strange readings that they had been picking up as well as those that the workers at the dame had informed them about, that had been picked up in the mountainous region above the dam. STSF Seiben: (maybe ) Heather Jamieson: Some EM readings similar to the dam, but more faint ACTION: As they move up towards the region they had been told had caused trouble with electronics adn such.....the readings get stronger STSF_BluRox: (oops! check again Heather...lol) ACTION: The ship's navigation system is starting to act up and sensor readings are becoming erratic STSF Seiben: \What’s with all this interference? Heather Jamieson: Readings similar to those around the dam, but more intense. STSF_BluRox: (if you've received PM's from me the past few weeks, perhaps a quick review of what I sent! lol) Rue Wydown: Seiben, find a place to land if you could. STSF Seiben: Aye sir. Checking for landing spot STSF Seiben: ::does so;: ACTION: As the ship's navigation and stabilizers are going haywire, this is becoming a more urgent idea Heather Jamieson: The signal is too strong for accurate readings STSF Seiben: ::struggles to compensate for the interference but manages to land the shuttle:: OK. We landed STSF_BluRox: (so anti-dramatic) August Jax Robinson: did hit any birds did you? STSF Seiben: Not this time. STSF Seiben: ::powering down engines and opens the exit hatch:: STSF_BluRox: @Republic +com+ Commander Wydown. We are noting that your shuttle was having difficulty and have landed in a mountainous region away from the population centers or dam. We were having trouble picking you up. Is everyone ok? Heather Jamieson: I have to place some filters on the incoming signals. Rue Wydown: +Republic+ We're just fine. Just a bit of an issue with the navigational controls. We'll get up and going again shortly. Rue Wydown: Jax, can you see if you can work on the shuttle's issues? Seiben and Jamieson, I want you to take readings over to the north. Be back here in twenty minutes. I'm going to take the southern route with Ens Kenny STSF Seiben: Aye aye STSF_BluRox: @ Republic +com+ Just be advised, We cannot confidently get a transporter lock at your current location, so keep us informed. August Jax Robinson: no, it makes me think someone is jamming us... August Jax Robinson: but Will has made me neurotic STSF Seiben: With all this interference, one can't be so sure Heather Jamieson: :: quickens her pace :: ACTION: The team has about a 7-mile hike over increasingly mountainous terrain (hope you didn't wear your heels) August Jax Robinson: we are in the middle of nowhere! we couldn't get closer? STSF Seiben: Sadly no. We were losing altitude pretty quickly. STSF_BluRox: (Luckily for Jax, Rue ordered her to stay and work on the shuttle's nav system -- scroll up!) STSF_BluRox: (however, she is welcome to hike as well!) August Jax Robinson: ::talking to herself, grabs a spanner:: August Jax Robinson: ::Mumbles:: we don't need pilots... none of them know what they are doing Heather Jamieson: :: huffs :: Hard to localize the signal with this interference. STSF Seiben: ::keeps going on,, thought Heather said something but continues but nope..:: Oh well. Heather Jamieson: :: Stops and turns to scan another direction :: Heather Jamieson: I bet there is something in all this mess. I thiink we need to walk further. ACTION: As they had spent the majority of the day at the dam before heading up towards the mountains, it is obviously a short while to sunset. The team must decide to head back to the shuttle and start fresh in the morning, or push on in the dark, in a rocky mountainous hike. STSF Seiben: It'll get dark soon. Think we can go on ahead still?? STSF Seiben: All right. I've got my flashlight. If you want to press on. Heather Jamieson: Let's... STSF Seiben: Okay STSF_BluRox: Let's? STSF Seiben: Let's?..
